- Rebecca (6/5): A quiet stay, with a decent restaurant close to the NEC. - The theme of the room was fun, and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom had a wonderful shower too. The restaurant offered a great selection of food for breakfast and dinner. The mirror light in the bathroom could not be turned off, and the cold tap needed to be fixed, but they were quite minor. The larger issue was that we were not told the times that breakfast was available which caused our group a lot of frustrations.

The Zoe Pod was warm and welcoming on arrival as was reception staff. Unfortunately I can't remember the member of staff in reception that helped with my queries on several occasions but she was extremely helpful, as was Louise at breakfast time with accommodating specific meal requests. We were also upgraded, which was a pleasant surprise. I would also recommend hiring the hot tub. I can't fault our stay.

- Nick (5/5): Hot tub not included in the price on the Frankie pod. Loud music till 12.30am long walk to cabin. - A good rural location with nice views.. Good breakfast included and free parking. Our cabin in the photos has a hot tub attached to it which in the description doesn't state its extra charge. There was only one heater in the whole cabin so the bedroom got a little chilly during the night. The cabin is in a field and you can't park near it and the shortest route is through the field which is damp and muddy. Or around the side of the field on a uneven track which isn't lit at night so use at risk. There was an event on and LOUD music playing till half 12 at night which we could hear from the other side of the field in our cabin furthest away. Overall disappointed this time round compared to the last cabin only stay which was a much better more relaxed experience.

The second bed wasn’t made up so I had to go ask for bed linen and more towels. The sofa bed kept sliding apart so made sleeping on it quite difficult.

- H7654NYhelenp (4/5): Avoid this place! - We stayed in Room 9 for 1 night on Saturday 18 October. Whilst the room looked nice on the surface, that’s where it ended. The room was dusty and the bathroom mouldy. The jacuzzi bath advertised did not work. We had the worst night’s sleep I have ever had in a hotel, the room was uncomfortably hot (there was no way to turn the radiator off) and at least once an hour a clearly broken pump started up in a locked cupboard in the room which ran for at least 20-30 minutes. Creating a banging sound. As the sun was shining when it was time to finally get up we went to breakfast - which stated was included but was in fact only a voucher of £8.50 per person to order from a menu. This was adequate for us, but was not the breakfast offer that you would get else where or was implied. Unfortunately service for breakfast was slow and transactional! We had planned to go for a walk around the site, but due to a private event that was happening in the marquee there was Indian music blaring out at 10.00 am which somewhat spoiled the Sunday morning ambience, so we went home earlier than planned. As it was Sunday when we departed and the reception closed we could only report this to a member of staff who was passing through the house. I shared the video files with her and she confirmed that she would ask ‘her boss’ to call the next day. I had no call on Monday 20 October. So I sent an email. Still no response. I have waited to leave this review, as I believe it important to give the hotel a chance to respond, customer service is best shown in a response to an issue.
- Gareth (7/5): Overall it was a pleasant stay - but it would have been nice to stay in the rooms we booked. - We had purposefully booked 2 rooms in the main house given the time of year we choose not to stay in the pods. On arrival - we were allocated two pods. This was disappointing given the choice allowed at the booking stage. One of the pods was fine, the other was on an angle and my colleague found it hard to sleep. No apology was offered - the staff told us it was too late (19:30) to have anyone to help us and basically that we had no other option.
- goldenb674 (4/5): Hygiene was POOR - communication was BELOW AVERAGE. - Well where do I start - this is the email I sent to the establishment - I have yet to receive a response. I sent the email on 20th October 2025. Good Afternoon, I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding my recent stay at the Old Hill Hotel in Meriden, during which I booked the Nicky Pod for £100 on 25/10/25. Unfortunately, the entire experience fell far below acceptable standards — both in cleanliness and functionality — and I am requesting a full refund as a result. When I arrived, the pod was visibly unclean. The floors and wall had visible dirt and stains, the microwave was unclean (dried bit on the corner) and there were general signs of poor maintenance and hygiene. The towel folded on the bed was stained, which is highly unacceptable and unhygienic. The shower had no hot water as the boost system was not functioning, leaving us unable to wash properly. I have a video of the water not draining from the shower but I can not upload it here. As the pod manager had already left for the night, I reported this to the restaurant staff, who kindly arranged for us to move to the family lodge. While I appreciated their efforts, this accommodation was also unsatisfactory. The shower drain was blocked (picture shown) and full of hair and foam residue, and despite removing what I could, the water still did not drain away. Considering the lodge is suited for a family of up to six people the shower should be immaculate. It should be cleaned and unblocked every month or so and the water pressure shouldn’t be a light trickle. The restaurant experience that evening was equally disappointing. Our second round of drinks were brought out before the first, and the Baileys floater was initially served without Baileys. Thankfully, one member of staff noticed and corrected the mistake before my partner realised or took a sip — they also kindly comped both delayed drinks without neither of us needing to ask. I asked the lady that served me originally if I could keep the menu incase I wanted to order more drinks/ dessert. Not once did she mention that there was a separate dessert menu that the menu I had didn’t cover - a separate member of staff told me that. To reiterate I appreciate the positive response from the restaurant staff and the willingness to rectify any issues that arose. The whole experience overall highlights the lack of organisation and communication among staff. When I ordered the £19 special, I was not informed that the broccoli listed with the dish was unavailable. I was only told this after the meal was served, after I had mentioned the missing item. it was made out as if it was an optional extra but it was part of the main menu. The explanation kept changing first being told I could have it, then that it wasn’t available for the dish but could be put on ( I assume that means they only had short broccoli instead of tenderstem) and finally that it wasn’t available at all. The dish itself arrived with packet mash, which for the price, was quite poor value. I had asked the general manager for the email of the accommodation, who then gave me the business card of the restaurant which wasn’t suitable for my needs. I then asked who I presume was the deputy manager of the restaurant for the email of the accommodation while she went to go get my drinks, she didn’t give it to me either upon her return with my second round of drinks. I then asked another member of staff for the email for the lodge when he came to deliver my food, This member of staff was very helpful, I appreciate his help but I should not have to ask for a simple thing three times from three different people. I want to acknowledge that Lucy, the restaurant manager, was as helpful as she could be in the situation, but it was clear that the whole setup — from communication to cleanliness — was disorganised and below standard. I would like to reiterate Lucy is the restaurant manager and has no control over the hotel side of things. Given the unacceptable hygiene, lack of working facilities, and poor service throughout, I believe a full refund of £100 is completely justified. I have attached photographs to support my complaint, showing the condition of both the pod and the lodge. Lucy can attest to the conditions of the pod. Please confirm receipt of this email and advise when I can expect a response and refund.

We've had pods before but this was the best - and so cosy. The weather was cool and a bit damp so the warmth was appreciated. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was sound. A light switch nearer to the bed would have been useful and an offer of yogurt and fruit etc for breakfast would have been nice but all the food for the breakfast was freshly cooked for each order. No crispy fried eggs here.

The room was excellent, wished I was staying longer. The cooked breakfast was the best I have had this year - great quality ingredients perfectly cooked.
- Harry (2/5): - Was advertised as a king bed, arrived to find a bed smaller than a double to share with my girlfriend. Barley slept. Waiting for a call back tomorrow to hopefully get a night for free in another cabin.

- StarTurn (8/5): Good stay overall - Have visited the Quicken Tree restaurant several times but not stayed here. Our room (3) was small but had all we needed. The house is old so naturally it has a few creaks and quirks. The setting and views are lovely, very tranquil and calm. Overall our stay was comfortable, staff friendly and good value for money. The only thing I’d suggest is getting a proper door on the bathroom because it didn’t offer much privacy, and do away with the horrible acrid plug in air fresheners. I’d rather smell a musty old room!
- Janette (8/5): A good choice for the money - Lovely rural location, beautiful old house. Room was clean and comfortable. Good restaurant on site, some staff better than others. Bathroom needs a proper door and get rid of the acrid air fresheners!
- ellinghams (10/5): Everyone must stay here - We stayed in the Frankie pod and it was spacious and warm. Absolutely perfect and much more enjoyable with more personal space than a hotel. Not only will we definitely stay again but highly recommend. Breakfast included was substantial and enjoyable. Evening meal was delicious

Thr breakfast was beautiful and we have evening meal the night of thr stay and it was delicious and the most fantastic environment. Very surprised and so much to look at

- Faizal (10/5): - Perfect for my last minute impromptu overnight stay. Always wanted to stay in a Cabin/Pod/Shepherd’s hut…. One with its own en-suite facilities, at a great last minute price, made it a no brainer! By the Grace of the Gods I’ll be back and stay longer to explore more of the Onsite entertainment facilities. Restaurant staff were amazing and the food fabulous! Breakfast was good value too with the vegetarian option being well presented and tasty.

- belinda (10/5): - We loved the pod , and neither of us had slept in one before. Very clean and comfortable and warm. The staff very all very friendly and welcoming, and nothing was too much for them. The onside restaurant was amazing the food and ambience was amazing . We could have done with a light switch over or near the bed to turn off the light as really dark once you turn off the main light. There is a mirror near the door but not much light there, so put it on hook in bathroom to them sit on the tolit seat to put make up on as really bright in there. Could do with another hook above the highest one so can look directly into the mirror.
- Bridget (8/5): Great location for us - would definitely use again. - Views , quirkiness. Proximity of bar/restaurant , closeness of parking, room warm Breakfast too late for us - we needed to be on the road by 8.30. Shower room tiles didn't look too clean, bedside light not working

- GardnerJones (8/5): Excellent location for NEC, The Vox and Birmingham airport. - The breakfast was good, nice range of choice and well presented. I had avocado with poached eggs, delicious. Coffee was ok, not top notch but drinkable! Restuarant was clean and spacious. Excellent location for NEC, Birmingham Airport, Resorts World and The Vox. Easy drive (15 mins) and bonus of seeing deer enroute. Staff (whoop whoop for Peter) was SO helpful. I came late to the property and found there was a temporary issue with POD2 (leaking toilet / dripping water / soaking floor). Bed was comfy so I put it out of my head and slept fairly well. When I asked if I could be changed to a different room due to above reason Peter was super helpful and I was delighted with my change to REG the Shepherd's Hut. Keys were left for me to pick up late and they'd already popped the heating and hot water on which was so welcome after a long day. Very friendly and I felt valued. The view from the close pods isn't marvellous but nothing that would put me off.

- David (4/5): Ok but glad it was only one night - It was quirky and the breakfast was excellent. The food and bar is great. Room 9 is in bad need of a refurb, lightbulbs needs replacing and the bathroom is long overdue done maintenance.
