Guest Reviews
- Amanda (10/5): - Absolutely Amazing People running the place
- Amanda (10/5): - Exceptional Care of the Property
- Amanda (10/5): - Very Clean and Friendly Place
- Amanda (10/5): - The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful, the room was immaculate and properly stocked with everything one may need.
- Bryan (8/5): - It was fine
- Heather (10/5): - Nice owners
- Theresa (8/5): Parkview Hastings - Great value for the price.
- Jason (2/5): - Dirty smelled like mildew didn’t sleep well on old worn out bed and felt like couch cushions as pillows.
- Michael (2/5): Disgusting in Hastings - I stayed at the Parkview Hotel during the Rock the Country event in Hastings. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by what appears to be a serious issue with the cleanliness of Room 14.
After checking out following a three-night stay, I discovered that my body was covered in numerous bug bites. These were not acquired at the concert—I can confidently say they came from the room. I initially slept in one bed on Thursday night, then switched to the other bed for Friday and Saturday.
At the time, I noticed some itching but didn’t realize how severe the situation was until I got home and saw the full extent of the bites on my back, legs, arms, and hands. The discomfort and skin irritation have been quite significant.
I did not file a complaint during checkout because I was unaware of just how widespread the bites were. However, I feel it’s important to bring this to the attention of management and future guests. A thorough inspection and professional treatment of Room 14 is strongly recommended.
I hope the hotel takes this matter seriously to prevent others from having a similar experience.
- Dawn (4/5): - Old,rundown musty smell
- Cameron (10/5): - I loved it
- Danielle (6/5): Ok place to sleep - Out dated motel but for the piece is fine. Had a strange smell
- Daniel (10/5): - Charming place, nice area, friendly staff, and it's right there at downtown Hastings! I've stayed twice already and plan on using Parkview again and again. :)
- Heather (6/5): - No extras but no complaints
- Thomas (2/5): 2nd worst place I've ever stayed - Charged 200 dollars extra and 100 of that fraudulently as i did not authorize it. If you have pets, go to another hotel where the cost is included in the room price. Carpet was disgustingly dirty (i spilled water and used a white wash rag to clean it up and i just did a quick blot and it came up brown. The door never looked shut, you could see light around the entire frame. One hand towel was dirty. Stains on the walls knee level and down like they don't bend down to fully clean. Owned by Indians and they keep the place like the streets of Calcutta. Gross.
- Casey (6/5): - Love the river view
- Casey (8/5): - I love the river view
- James (8/5): Reasonable. - Reasonable room for the rate. Low marks for the uncomfortable mattress.
- david (8/5): Family friendly, clean, comfy & perfect location - Family/Business visit. We always stay here because it's close, clean and the owners are so friendly. They work hard to keep the place in order. Just a family friendly place to stay.
- sidan (8/5): - There was no Kleenex, the tub was not clean!! Everything else was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the heat was great. Nice to be able to control it.
- Christofer (4/5): - Room had strange smell. Bathroom was gross. Multiple brown stains on ceiling. Spiders were found inside of towels. Towels were very old and very used with stains on them. Bed sheets were old and worn. Nobody was in office when we checked out at 8 am.
- Clare (4/5): - Cheap, not updated. Adequate. Room had a funky odor.
- Gail (6/5): - The room was clean for the most part. The rooms were a little dated and super dark. Our room had a very very funky smell. It didn't look like the top blankets were washed (we took them off of our beds and put them in a corner for the duration of our stay), but the sheets did smell clean, though they had MANY spots that looked sketch and probably just need replace.
- Mark (8/5): - Very nice overall. Everything was clean even though it was not all new.. Reasonably priced. Thumbs up.
- Joel (8/5): - Great lovation. Nice People.
- De (2/5): - While taking a bath my husband tried to use the support bar to get out of the tub.
It pulled out of the wall and showered him in tile and he almost got injured
Upon going to the front desk they told him he needed to pay the damages or het out.
He was told that he was not supposed to put his weight on the bar
- David (4/5): - Rust everywhere, floor was very unlevel, rusty sink, terrible job of trying to make the room look nicer, very poor quality of customers, could hardly understand person doing the check in, low supplies in the room, ran out during our three day stay. Will never stay here again.
- Tammy (8/5): Quick Trip - This motel was good for a quick stay. The rooms were clean and bug free. At night, it was a little loud, several guests outside making loud noise in the late night/early early mornings. The rooms were decent and extremely colorfully, pictures were not lying.
- Adam (8/5): - Need to upgrade the bed and the tv
- Carl (6/5): - It was quoted at $84 and ended up $95. No frills but still overpriced for $100. Everything in the room worked but is very outdated.
- Jim and Christina (8/5): - Great location
- boone (8/5): - Really good affordable place to sleep. I definitely would stay again.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Price
- Adam (4/5): - Needs a remodel ASAP place is run down and old. Beds must be from the 90s
- Laura (4/5): - Room smelled like mold, large mold spot noted in the bathroom
- Giovanni (10/5): - Very clean rooms
- Tonya (8/5): - Check in was easy. The owner and wife were very nice. It was well lit at night and felt safe. I was very impressed with the room! It was spacious and very clean. It was bright - it had 3 lamps and an overhead light. Also had a small fridge and microwave. The heater worked well, kept my room nice and cozy. The bed was comfortable. It had a coffee maker, but it came with only 1 package of coffee, 2 creamers, and 3 splendas. That definitely could have been better. Some sugar would have been nice; not everyone is on a diet. There were 2 very large mirrors. There was a bathtub! Yes, a real bathtub! It's impossible to find hotels with bathtubs anymore. They were not generous in bathroom supplies: 1 small bar of soap and 1 packet of "conditioning shampoo". And the towels were terrible! Thin, small, and scratchy. I will stay here again, but I will bring my own supplies and towels. It is those that keeps me from giving it 4 stars.
- Donald (10/5): - Room very clean, bathroom was clean and modern . Bed s were a little stiff. Sleep was great both night s. Quiet roadway going by . TV came on slow on channels then was fine.
- Ciarra (8/5): - Just needed a cheaper and convenient place to stay while in town visiting family. Fit our needs. Outdated, but this was expected. Wasn't able to contact them by phone directly, before making and commiting to the reservation. That was the only downfall.
- David (6/5): - Large room with lots of space. Room was outdated and in need of upgrading, however it felt comfortable.
- Brian (2/5): - The room smelled like wet dog
I stayed 1 hour and had to change my travel arrangements
I didn’t stay the night
- Lisa (8/5): - It is exactly whatcyou pay for..no frills no thrills. Quiet..walking distant to gas stations and a nice park across the street. Could upgrade the towels and, soap and toilet paper. I'd stay again. Carpets need cleaned, ruined all of our sox.
- Andrew (10/5): - Nice quiet and clesn place.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Great location, clean rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff. Easy check-in and check-out. I like staying here when I'm in the area.
- Helene (4/5): - Brochure said "recently updated". When--1980? One light on headboard side non-working. Showerhead didn't work. And had sign for service on the door. Nada for linen change. Complementary soap bar was hard as a rock, and poor lather. Only reason I stayed here was proximity to weekend destination.
- Gregory (10/5): - For a non-national chain, family owned Motel, I was very pleased- very clean, very neat. Room would compete very well with the Holiday Inn Express in town, at half the price - no breakfast, but for the 75.00 saved, can get a nice breakfast in town.
- Raymond (6/5): Way to high price - It was very plain .. nothing special for 85$ , it was more like a motel 6... 35-50 $ max for a night ..
- Pamela (8/5): - Clean, well-maintained, very quiet heating unit in room, friendly person at front desk.
- Steffanie (8/5): - Older motel but it is well maintained and our room was updated. Room was clean. Pillows aren't the best so was glad I had brought my own. We'll be back in the area next year and we would stay here again.
- Earl (10/5): - Nice people
- George (10/5): - The Property looks to be a typical 1970ish Motel. The rooms, or at least the one I stayed in, had been recently renovated. My room had new paint, lights, carpet and Heating / cooling unit. Very clean. Convenient to shopping and dining. This will be my "go to" accommodations when I visit the Hasting, MI area.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Like to stay here when I come down this way for work. Nice and quiet rooms. Friendly staff
- Amberlyn (8/5): - Cute little place to stay, reasonable price
- JILL (10/5): - A really nice, clean and quiet motel. Staff was very polite and pleasant. Will go back!
- John (6/5): Not a raving fan - The hotel is in need of being updated. Smelled "old". Quite disappointed after reading the online reviews, seeing the rating numbers, especially compared to the "big name" hotels.I was disappointed.
- Shelly McGovern (6/5): - I slept well, there were people hanging out in the parking lot, but the A/C drowned out the noise. I had everything I needed for a night's sleep away from home. It is a small town, so close to anything I needed.
- Kristie (10/5): - Room was large and parking was available right out front of the room. Room was kept clean. The staff was polite and seemed to have owners onsite.
- Ron (2/5): - Gross! Terrible smell. Brown stained ceiling tiles, rusted grid. Everything in the place was way beyond its useful life. Shower was gross. Thread bare towels n linens with stains on them. Found a couple of hairs on the sheets. Did I mention the smell?.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great basic accomodation - Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. Odd smell that seemed like it might have been a cleaning product.
- George (8/5): Different, but OK - This is an older property with squeaky wooden floors under the carpet.
Everything worked; it’s just not new and not the same as all the other places I have stayed.
- Judy (10/5): Amenities, cleanliness, price and service - This time stayed for only one night. Have relatives in the area and have stayed here before. Has all the conveniences that you need: frig, microwave, coffee maker, TV, Wi-Fi, hair dryer, desk, table. Always clean. Very reasonably priced and good service.
- Gerald (10/5): - Fast check in clean quite and very friendly
- Stephanie (10/5): - Nice place, friendly staff, clean room, and quiet environment
- Stephanie (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean room, easy check in, and quiet environment, I like that every room has a frig, microwave and coffee pot. I stay here often on my business trips.
- tracy (10/5): - This is my second time staying there. First time very unpleasant. Was reluctant to this time but it was enjoyable. Staff was very friendly and not so rude.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Very clean and cozy room. Friendly staff and easy check in. Will stay here again
- Wyatt (6/5): - The room smelled heavily of Febreeze and the sheets had a synthetic residue that smelled like strawberry bubble gum that transferred to my clothes and skin. I had to turn heat up in my room when I left to help air out everything. The smell was strong and made me uncomfortable.
- Judy (8/5): - I like that they provide outdoor ashtrays for the smokers who stay in the non-smoking rooms.
The only bad thing was that the door seemed to be swelled or something and was very hard to open and close.
- Eric (10/5): - N0t bad at all owners straight up and up front....Safe no worries ....nice place.
- Ken (8/5): Michigan - Motel was clean and quiet. 👍
- Charles (4/5): - I was disappointed with service granted I arrived early in the morning for my stay. I asked if I could check in early as I had been driving all night was told they had no rooms available, this motel had at least 20 rooms and less than 10 cars etc renting rooms. I asked if there was someplace nearby for breakfast I was told go to McDonalds, there was a nice little restaurant that was open 2 blocks away. Also I was told that I could not check in until 1 pm when sign on door and your company said check in by noon.
- Ricky (8/5): - Typical pay for what you get. It was adequate. Two big bites on left rear at wakeup. Not sure what caused that. Could be mesquito
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great upgrade from last year!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A very well kept old school motel. No frills, but if you just need a clean bed and hot shower... why pay more? Give this family run place your cash instead of some national chain. Owners are super nice, and there are good places to eat within a short walk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Parkview - Check in was easy, room was basic and clean.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - They charged me for 2 rooms although i only wanted 1. They said they would refund me, they didn't. They charged me a deposit and said we would get it back, i didn't. The room smelled so bad, we didn't stay. Overall, i was charged almost $300 for a 1 night stay. Ill be turning them into BBB.
- Jessica (10/5): Clean and polite service but. - Room was clean and cared for. Service was good. There is a $100 deposit due at check in, non-smoking in the rooms and of you do there is a $150 cleaning fee.
- Charity (6/5): So so stay - Not very friendly staff. Clean, newer air conditioning unit. Not super user friendly. TV/satellite did NOT work at all.
Water was nice and hot. Bed was not comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Over priced for a old motel. People next door constantly being loud ,sounded like they were running into walls or on drugs! Staff was rude which assuming the owners especially the wife! Think I’ll pass on returning again for a overpriced dirty motel. And don’t expect a comfy sleep, the bed was awful & you get 2 flat pillows or whatever they were!
- Don (8/5): Hunters - Motel is close to everything in Hastings ... the room was clean and neat and check out was easy. Staff were friendly and communicated well.
Rooms included a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker.
- Scott (8/5): - Great service, comfortable and clean rooms, and great price.
- Kay (10/5): - This motel was just what I was looking for, it’s a older but my room was clean, quiet the staff were nice. I will go back there again.
- William (8/5): - Nice clean small motel in the idyllic town of Hastings, MI next to the Thornapple River. Older but well maintained, paint, carpet, shower, etc. look quite new. Building is probably 50 years old, have real KEY locks not cards. Close to many good restaurants in town and Riverwalk. Good for tourists but about 30-40 miles from Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Kalamazoo for business.
Only negative it is NOT handicap friendly: only motel I have ever seen you walk down a stairway to get to a first floor lobby! 1 handicap parking spot for 30 units, a step UP to get into room, non ADA compliant toilet and shower, no ramps, etc. Avoid if you or companion have mobility issues! Otherwise a nice deal for the price.
- EEK (2/5): - This place was horrible only stayed for the bed. Air jacked up room was smelly and customer service is prehistoric. Sorry. Not sorry.
- Jen&Deshawn (8/5): - The room and property was fairly clean. The owners were not very pleasant people. Require a cash deposit eventhough they have your card information on file and you pay with that card...They didn't want to give us extra towels and seemed bothered when we asked for toilet paper. I I didn't see any of them smile one time while i was there, which was 4 days...
- LaurieKirk (10/5): - The service and politeness of the owners was top notch
- Brendan (8/5): - A little on the expensive side for such a dated property, but clean and comfortable.
- Jake (2/5): - Room was old, moldy and not cleaned well. Beds were very firm. Neighbourhood was rough. Way overpriced for what you get. Then he charged extra for each occupant over 2 despite having already declared them in the initial booking. Never go here, there are plenty of better options.
