Guest Reviews
- Lawrence (10/5): -
- John (7/5): - Wonderful setting, pleasant host, easy parking Couldn't get warm (unseasonably cold weather) No cooktop, just a microwave.
- paul (10/5): Comfortable and peaceful rural retreat. - On arrival I was warmly welcomed, the lodge was comfortable and warm with everything I needed. Tea, coffee, milk and breakfast food were much appreciated.
- JOHN (10/5): - We loved log cabin feel and the quiet location and the view and our hosts. We would use this property again. Was a little difficult to identify the property in the dark although we did choose the right place. A big sign for us dummies could make it easier. There was a small sign on the gate that we missed initially.
- Georgina (9/5): Idyllic cabin, beautiful views, wonderful hosts - The hosts were lovely and so welcoming - thank you for having us! The lodge is in their garden, but far enough down that it's easy to forget! It's bigger than it looks in the photos, and doesn't feel cramped. It's chilly but the electric heater works well and the hosts were kind enough to put electric blankets on the bed, so we were nice and warm. The bed was amazing - I have hip problems and having a comfy bed is a worry when staying away from home, but this bed may actually be the best bed I've ever slept in! There were a couple of spiders, but that's expected in a cabin, and they kept out of the way so no issues there. All in all it was a fantastic stay and my partner and I look forward to staying again sometime! Nothing!
- Rogers (9/5): -
- Christie (10/5): Absolutely amazing - The whole experience was excellent from the time of booking to when we left.
We only met George and he was an absolute delight (and an F1 fan which is always a plus with us!).
It was such a lovely experience, they left the lights on and gave great directions to allow us to check-in a bit late due to the time of our ferry crossing and we felt free to come and go as we pleased.
The property is very well looked after, we were completely left to our own devices and it was lovely to chat to George on our last day. Our trip was to organisation our wedding and it was so lovely to have the peace and quiet to be able to relax after a day of venue visits.
Thank you both, we will definitely be booking again for the dress fitting dates! If I was pushed to say a negative, it would only be to say there were no face cloths, and that's only because I forgot to take mine! The place was amazing, couldn't fault it!
- Mandy (10/5): Absolutely fantastic quiet break - Absolutely lovely place tucked out of the way for peace and quiet. Our Dog loved the grounds and had so much room to roam around . We will definitely return here
Host were lovely friendly people Nothing
- Lizzie B (10/5): - This was the most perfect spot for us. Situated right on an RSPB reserve and the owners had even provided a private hide. The lodge itself was beautifully appointed and the breakfast items were good quality and just right for our needs. Useful to have a fridge and small sink, together with toaster and microwave. The bed was sumptuous and the little shower room was roomy enough and the shower was efficient. Our hosts George and Juliet couldn't have been more welcoming and yet still gave us our privacy. We had use of a lovely garden looking out over the marsh and there were public footpaths and a tramway directly next to the property. We took our small dog and the verandah and garden were perfect for feeding etc. Would we stay here again? Definitely! Having to leave after just three days. Seriously can't fault a thing.
- Peter (10/5): A great stay on Brading marsh, fantastic for walks and birdwatching - Location, Location, Location, parking, facilities Nothing
- Neil (8/5): - Excellent breakfast ingredients supplied. Fantastic, characterful lodge with loads of wildlife on the doorstep.
- Dean (10/5): The Lodge is lovely, excellent facilities and very comfy bed. - Lovely surroundings and great walks. The Lodge is very comfortable, quiet and peaceful, thoroughly enjoyed my stay aand will return.
- Fiona (10/5): A wonderful retreat in a fabulous garden. - Beautiful peaceful location and well equipped and comfortably furnished accommodation. Hosts are friendly and available if you need them but otherwise leave you to enjoy the idyllic property which has a large garden with bbq and seating for sole use. Nothing!
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Tracy (10/5): Was fantastic property beautiful weather was amazing a hidden treasure š - Everything ! Nothing !
- Lucy (10/5): Tranquil haven even in bad weather! - Lovely peaceful quiet location. Very friendly kind hosts - our dog was made to feel really welcome and had a lovely large space to roam in. Lovely breakfast items and a very comfy bed. Slightly patchy tv wifi but after a restart it was perfect. Super stay - thank you
Even in terrible weather it was wonderful
- David (10/5): Great location with access to bus, train, local facilities, walks and peaceful. - The location was absolutely beautiful.
Peace and tranquillity, lovely setting.
Property suited our needs for this short break. Great dog friendly hosts. Nothing
- Laura (8/5): Very good - Excellent location as you're on the doorstep of so many walking routes. Owners are very friendly with two lovely dogs.
Lots of items left for breakfast which was hugely appreciated as a solo traveller who had a dog so I couldn't go to a shop.
Very comfy bed and the electric blanket warmed up the bed great. A few items are a bit tired in the lodge, such as the kettle (needed descaling) and the TV which had a dodgy signal.
Couldn't leave the dog in the lodge alone. Garden was secure and lovely but shared by two other dogs and joins to the owner's house, so I couldn't let my dog roam free as he'd likely run into their home!
- Emily (10/5): Idyllic piece of paradise - The property is in beautiful surroundings, birds singing all day, stunning garden, and incredible views. Amazing hosts with the added bonus of Tilly being the best dog! Thank you for letting us stay in your accommodation, we will be back one day!
- Joanne (7/5): Would have been perfect with adequate heating and better air circulation - Fabulous location, good choice of breakfast items, very clean and perfect secure garden for the dogs. Really well set out, lovely verandah and adequate facilities. Very cold and drafty, almost a ādampā feel to the property and not too well heated. The electric shower was poor due to low water pressure.
- Fiona (10/5): A fabulous location and wonderfully thoughtful hosts! - A beautiful, quiet setting and a thoughtfully presented comfortable property with generous little extras that added up to a delightful home away from home experience. Nothing!
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Anglerholic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Loz (10/5): Tranquil cosy lodge set in stunning wildlife with exceptional hosts! - Cosy, cute, warm with stunning views in a peaceful spot! Exceptionally clean with warm/friendly and extremely helpful hosts. Large shower towels were great and the breakfast selection was simply fabulous. It was all the we hoped for and more. We canāt wait to book again for an out of season staycation! The marshes were incredible and we even save a stunning greater egrit wow. Super dog friendly as well! We would hugely recommend The Lodge on the Marsh. Nothing it was just fabulous
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - Lovely little place, perfect for us two and Lovely location
- Ruby (10/5): Lovely tranquil lodge, would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet cosy getaway. - The lodge was so cosy and quaint, when we walked in it was like walking into an old bookshop with all the books on the shelves in front of us, the fire was on and there were more complimentary things than we have ever seen. Everything made us feel so welcome.
Waking up to the sound of birds in the morning and the viewing of the marshes were beautiful. It felt really private like you had the whole marsh to yourself.
Facilities were very good, shower especially was easy to use and you could set it to the perfect temperature (also heated up really quickly).
We really look forward to staying again. The only thing we would have changed was the weather (which was expected for November) and even still we had a lovely rainy day in the lodge.
- Tina (9/5): A peaceful stay in a quaint lodge with birdsong and beautiful scenery - Peaceful and restful lodge with beautiful views and good access to walks. Lots of bird watching and forest bathing.
Friendly owners Juliet and George who were helpful in every way. Nothing was too much. I would recommend.
- Mandy (10/5): Absolutely perfect - Beautifully clean, cosy and really well equipped. Perfect for those with dogs, as large garden and great walks on the doorstep. Nothing at all!
- Sarang (10/5): Exceptional - Spent an amazing few days here. Fantastic location. The views were incredible. The hosts were very gracious and lovely. The facilities were top notch. All in all, great location, views, comfortable, rustic and cozy setting.
Would definitely recommend. Thanks to the hosts!!
- Kimberley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Crispin (9/5): Superb -
- Gavin (8/5): A lovely place to stay on the edge of the RSPB nature reserve with welcoming and friendly hosts. -
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Location and facilities A Clear sign to the property would help find it easier
- Kathryn (9/5): Beautiful location, helpful hosts, cosy comfortable lodge. - Lodge was wonderful! Views fantastic. So peaceful and perfect location for walks Nothing!
- Brian (9/5): A lovely retreat for a few days R&R. - Lovely quiet spot. A great retreat for a few days R&R. Lost in the middle of beautiful countryside , but near to everything you need. Owners were helpful and friendly, including the Dog ! Just what we needed for a break. We could have done with another day or two !
- Jenna (10/5): Beautiful location and lodge - The location is wonderful, easy to
Find and so secluded, there is a very large enclosed garden, with a bird hide and outdoor furniture. This would be perfect for a longer stay!
The hosts leave you to it unless there are any issues. There is a dog already on site who is very friendly and our Labrador was smitten immediately - even let her steal his bone 𤣠Nothing!
- Joan (10/5): Exceptional - Love this place. The location is perfect. Pet friendly and lots of beautiful garden for our dog to run around and play. Could have used a tin opener and a glass jug for the microwave
- Adeel (9/5): Memorable - We love everything about staying at this place. So peaceful, owner was very nice and friendly .
- Hugh (9/5): A little piece of heaven - Beautiful location, walking distance to Brading for evening meals. Sitting in the garden listening to the bird song and nothing else... heaven. Kitchen facilities were very limited. Microwave was the only cooking method. Although it is understandable in a wooden chalet. Lighting was very minimal, too.
- Zaki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lawrence (9/5): Staying at the lodge - The lodge, clean and comfortable....the location was spot on for our needs....lovely large private garden to lose the dog in. The weather was horrendous

- Colin (10/5): Exceptional - The location was amazing the Lodge was absolutely fantastic.
The host's were always available if you needed them. There was nothing I didn't like.
Everything thing was great.
- Geof (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - I loved being free from our jobs and forced to relax the owners were lovely it was hard for us as my dog wouldn't sleep in car and he was exhausted at home he stays in garden if we go out and sleeps but this is not their problem it's our dog so maybe for us this not not suit us but we loved it maybe next time we will come dogless
- Kim (10/5): Fabulous, peaceful weekend away. - Everything about this property was perfect for us. Perfect location and a very genuine, warm welcome. There was absolutely nothing we didn't like.
- Sergei (9/5): Really nice, relaxing stay - Peaceful, quiet location, beautiful garden, spacious, spotless clean cabin, homy atmosphere, really nice hosts George and Juliet. Very small fridge for self catering, we had to use our own cooler. An oven would be highly appreciated also, or a larger microwave with an oven function. There is no place where you can hang your clothes, a small wardrobe fitted in the bedroom would be nice.
- Helene (8/5): Very good -
- Gloria (10/5): We enjoyed our mini break very much and plan to come back, it was lovely. - The location is beautiful, and the accommodation is charming, with a great deal of thought into making it comfortable attractive and relaxing. Also cosy as we had rather wet weather for July.
The breakfast provided was lovely, and biscuits a nice touch.
We enjoyed our mini break very much and hope to come back.
I've recommended it to several people already. Nothing. (only the weather!)
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): Peaceful Location - We loved the views. The wildlife. The peaceful atmosphere. The location. The lodge was so comfortable we felt so relaxed. We loved Tilly, Juliet & George were so welcoming. The only thing that disappointed was we ate in for 2 nights and the plates were very small. But nothing major
- David (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable - Stylish and well equipped. It was a little cold a night even in May
- Darren (8/5): Very good -
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (7/5): Peaceful setting . - It was quite snd tranquil . Great garden . just very warm inside as weather very hot . Had to keep windiws open which led to us getting insect bites .
- Eirini (9/5): perfect holiday for gazing the views listening to the birds playing with your pet and getting an occasional visit from T - location, decoration, views, privacy well it is a bit secluded but this is a conscious choice booking this property.
- Joan (10/5): I wanted to stay for longer. - Everything was wonderful. Such a lovely location. It was very comfortable. Lots of choices given for our breakfast. The beautiful garden was so peaceful. Our dog had the run of the garden and enjoyed meeting resident dog, Tilly. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Deb (10/5): Just what we needed - The peaceful relaxing area. We live on the Isle if Wight but it was nice to park up for 2 nights and relax and walk. Only 10 minutes to everything you need. Liked it all.
- Angela (9/5): Great escape to the countryside - A perfect place to enjoy the countryside. Quiet, peaceful, and next door to the marsh. Ideal location for bird watching. Couldn't fault anything
- Richard (10/5): If it was possible to give more than a 10 rating for location we would! - A wonderful property in a location thatās unbeatable.
- Sukhjinder (9/5): Exactly what we needed coming out of winter! - Breakfast was ideal and more than sufficient for our needs! To enjoy it in that setting with nature all around and sound of birds was fantastic! I cannot think of a thing I didnāt like
- David (9/5): A quiet retreat and wonderful hosts. - Great accommodation and wonderful hosts. We were made very welcome and enjoyed the Lodge as a quiet base to explore the area.
- Louisa (9/5): Superb - Great location and really lovely little lodge. Hosts were welcoming and provided us with a vegan breakfast which was great! A peaceful place to stay which was comfortable and clean and right next to the nature reserve. Our puppy came with us and also had a great time. Would absolutely recommend this stay
- Timothy (4/5): Didn't live up to expectations given the B&B rate charged. - The cabin was attractively presented and generally clean and tidy. The linen, in particular, was fresh and clean. It was in a peaceful location with a pleasant view. The furnishings were comfortable. It was very cold even with the heaters going full blast and smelt slightly damp. In spite of paying B & B prices the breakfast was self prepare/serve with limited choice. For example, the advert gave the impression of artisan bread not a packet of supermarket sliced a toaster and rock hard butter. Essentially it is a self catering cabin with some breakfast supplies and basic kitchen equipment rather than a B&B
- Sherrina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): great hosts and fabulous location -
- Iain (2/5): My kind of place. - I loved waking to a view over the RSPB reserve and sitting out on the porch. There was a generous supply of beverages and breadfast ingredients. Puzzles, games, books and even a wind up torch were supplied. Clean and comfortable bed and lounge furniture. our host George was friendly and helpful. Our dog Ollie enjoyed the run of the large enclosed garden. Really the only thing I didn't like was leaving to come home. It was a thoroughly relaxing break.
- Julia (10/5): wonderful lodge with superb hosts and stunning views. - wonderful location on the Brading Marshes. The lodge was clean, warm and very comfy. The hosts provided home made bread, cakes and eggs as well as a large selection of breakfast cereals. the views across the marshes were spectacular. absolutely nothing
- Yvonne (10/5): Perfect for bird lovers! - A wonderful find and a birders and ale lovers heaven!
It was a very last minute booking as my partner and I wished to extend our holiday in the Isle of Wight. I'm so glad we did. Both our hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable. A special shout out to Tilly, the gorgeous and sweet Golden Retriever who helped settle us in!
The Lodge is very comfortable and not far from pubs and restaurants, however it is such a quiet place- bliss! From inside the Lodge you can see out to the Marsh, scores of Canada Geese could be easily viewed during our stay and a Marsh Harrier flew right by the garden a few times too! Go to the private hide and the Marsh opens up further to you. I brought my own scope and spent a happy hour each morning watching everything. Red Squirrels also regularly visit the beautiful garden however decided to hide whilst we stayed! Never mind, a short walk at Alverstone Mead to the squirrel hide solved that (take hazelnuts for squirrels and sunflower seeds for the friendly Great Tits!).
The hosts also own a microbrewery and pub in Bembridge, a lovely 3 mile walk away by the Marsh, an airfield and the islands only windmill. Well worth taking binoculars on the walk, more marshland birds, waders, harriers, kestrels, white tailed eagles and a Dartford Warbler seen!
The Pilot Boat Inn is well worth a visit. Although the microbrewery is relatively new, they clearly know what they are doing with some excellent beers. All, even the lowest % beer had full flavours and we stayed for a few! They also serve pizza and you certainly get your moneys worth- both our pizzas were piled up with toppings. Utterly delicious but sadly I couldn't finish all mine, happily it was popped in a box to take home!
A fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.
