- Francis (10/5): Extraordinary experience which touches the heart. - Undeniable genuine interest in good food, good service and a cooking course which empowered me to create restaurant level, healthy food, at home for family and friends. Nothing...all exceptionally high standard

- Kerry (10/5): - Upscale ancient hotel with amazing restaurant, grounds & accomodations, would stay longer next time. Gift & cafe is amazing.
- Gemma (10/5): Great food as you would expect. - Stunning old house Our Annex bedroom in coach house was too hot and a bit noisy by the kitchens.
- Brian (9/5): -
- Gerard (9/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Comfortable, well looked after and great food - Excellent period property Nothing
- Katherine (10/5): Relaxing, restorative, inspiring stay - A country house retreat experience. Stay for the 5 course dinner. You won’t regret it!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overpriced - I stayed at Castlemyrtle Resort before moving over to Ballymaloe House Hotel. I expected comparable comfort—especially since I’m paying more here—but key amenities like air conditioning and a TV were missing.
Dinner was, frankly, disappointing for the price. The food lacked creativity and flavor, and the service fell short. Trainees were serving and couldn’t explain the dishes or answer basic questions about the food. Really? When you’re paying over $100 per person for a meal, you expect servers who are at least knowledgeable. The staff were friendly, but the lack of expertise was noticeable.
Outside of the beautiful setting, everything else felt mediocre.
- indrani (10/5): Wonderful - Staff/ food as farm to table / the country aspect and grounds Perhaps pricing options for the dinner menus
- Felix (9/5): Nice nd easy - Quietness and comfort Small bar
- Eugene (10/5): - Wonderful peaceful break . Particularly the stay in the coach room.
Lovely to meet Fern . Thank you
- Kathleen (10/5): - Lovely hotel and property
- Jonathan (10/5): - Wonderful
- Chris (1/5): Previous reputation oversold this overpriced and under performing hotel - Lovely setting and estate. Our room was pleasant but….
There were no tea and coffee making facilities’ no safe, no TV (which didn’t bother us but others might expect in a €400 a night hotel) and no toiletries for use in the bath (they were screwed to the wall in the shower). When we asked for
toiletries we were provided with bath salts and a bar of soap. There is no AC but we didn’t ask for a fan.
We ate dinner on our first night (of 4). The food was underwhelming - ordinary country fare you might expect in a pub - and we waited over 30 mins for our main course. We cancelled our booking for the following evening. Breakfast was reasonable although they got our order wrong on the first two mornings. The scrambled eggs were actually an omelette.
The staff were generally pleasant although several of the waiting staff were wearing dirty uniforms and one had her hem held up with pins.
We were only advised at the last minute that we would be arriving during the Ballymaloe food festival.
Overall, very disappointing with the hotel obviously trading on past reputation and glory.
- Susan (10/5): LOVE - We had an amazing stay at Ballymaloe, new family favorite. Staff is wonderful, food is incredible. We will be back again!
- Liz (8/5): Very good -
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): - Absolutely! Here’s a shorter version for Google Reviews:
A truly special place. Ballymaloe House Hotel combines elegant charm with warm, genuine hospitality. The rooms are beautiful, the food is outstanding—fresh, seasonal, and mostly from their own gardens—and the whole experience feels peaceful and personal. The dessert trolley is so decident, a perfect countryside escape. Can't wait to come back!

- carol (6/5): - I enjoyed the dinner.
I felt front of house were just ok
The staff in the resteraunt were top class
When we arrived we were just left standing there while 3 staff members attended one man ??
I had to ask for more info re room n hotel n key etc. I have had better service in other hotels. We were told there was no cake left on our arrival??
- Eamonn (7/5): Very relaxing and peaceful - Very old style. Country farm feel about it. No complaints about the property.
- Joyce (7/5): lovely country property - beautiful! This is a lovely country house with a charming gift shop- but the staff lacked the Irish warmth we are accustomed to all over Ireland - there seemed to be an air of “ we’re trying to be Posh”!!
You’re a country property with chickens and pigs- not the Savoy in London!!
- Dara (9/5): A lovely relaxing break with excellent food - Breakfast was superb
We really enjoyed the outdoor pool
All the food was amazing
Music in the drawing room was most enjoyable Because we had our window open the kitchen fan woke us up early
- Carolyn (10/5): - Beautiful family owned business with a fantastic restaurant and amazing food, staff and design
- John (8/5): Lovely staff , particularly the friendly Michael who is a mind if information - Breakfast was very good There should be an option for guests that arrive late that do not want a five course dinner , to be offered a sandwich menu, this option is for sure lacking and needs to be considered, some guests have other events booked and desire just a simple sandwich , this is not an option at Ballymaloe House
- Andy (10/5): - Absolutely stunning place with some of the best staff I've experienced!
- James (7/5): Good -
- Golden (10/5): An idyllic retreat in the countryside where we enjoyed extraordinary, locally sourced cuisine. - The setting was stunning. The menu and food were exceptional. Staff were welcoming. Our accommodations were spacious. The history of the building and grounds is fascinating. The story of the Allen family and their descendants is truly inspirational.
- Belinda (10/5): We were made to feel like to the manor born, thanks to all. - The staff are fantastic as was the food (breakfast was a wonder). Great sized rooms, Adam and the team behind the bar made us feel right at home! No complaints here!
- Barbara (10/5): A little piece of paradise! - The breakfast was most enjoyable and there was a terrific selection.
- Theresa (8/5): Very good - I liked the rustic feel and the beautiful flowers everywhere nice atmosphere i liked the fact very little waste of food and very good food I thought a bit pricey for one nite
- Ivor (10/5): This was a highlight of our trip in terms of the hotels we have stayed at. - Really fantastic experience & good value. Quality service
- Verified traveler (6/5): Mixed Bag - Our stay at Ballymaloe House was a bit of a mixed bag. The house, grounds, and dining were all excellent, but the staff (less the waitresses and bartenders) were the low point of our trip. We had several interactions where, at best, we were made to feel like an inconvenience, and at worst like we were lesser. Basic requests like ordering room service for dinner were met with obvious annoyance from the front desk. So much so that we actually dragged ourselves to dinner after a terrible day of travel because it seemed like such a burden for them. On our final morning we showed up to breakfast as it was opening because we needed to get an early start. The hostess seemed aggravated and treated us like we had showed up an hour early. While none of these interactions were hugely problematic we left feeling like we needed to apologize for showing up in the first place.
- Calvin (6/5): They food is far from what it used tobe, and the staff were similar - The facilities are great, as they were when we last stayed there some years ago The staff are no longer the happy lovely host they used tobe.. to stiff and impersonal.
- Rachel (10/5): Very enjoyable. Staff very welcoming , lovely setting and amazing food. - All fantastic.....amazing fresh bread, porridge and cooked breakfast Nothing
- Aongus (8/5): It was an excellent short break away. - The quiet and the general feel of the place which was very nice indeed N/A
- Maura (10/5): An all too short stay at Balkymaloe - We loved everything: our room was perfect, quiet with a comfortable bed and great bedding.
The staff were amazing—- always going out if tbeir way to be helpful and enhance your stay. The restaurant needs no description—-wonderful food cooked with great love and care. Absolutely nothing!
- Philomena (10/5): Wonderful stay! - Fabulous and always enjoyable!
- Martyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donald (10/5): Ireland’s best boutique hotel - Hands down the best experience we could’ve ever imagined. Comfortable, spacious accommodations. Kind, thoughtful, professional management and staff. World class food. Top marks.

- Vincent (10/5): - Best stay of my trip to Ireland!
- Christine (8/5): Totally relaxing. - We were very pleased with procedure the management dealt with a problem we had during dinner the first night. And every effort was made to ensure we enjoyed the rest of our stay. We look forward to returning in the future.
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (9/5): We have stayed before and we will definitely stay again - Breakfast and dinner superb ! ambience, decor and surroundings fantastic ! No fridge, no television, no tea/ coffee facilities!
- Susanne (8/5): Superfint, men 8/10! - Underbart läge och natur.
Fantastiskt hus och intilliggande rum i hus.
Trevlig personal.
- Robert (10/5): Special place worth a stay to rest or just pamper oneself - Beautiful old manor house steeped in history.
Beautiful haute cuisine dinner and special breakfast.
Cooking school nearby very interesting and worth a visit - particularly for its extensive garden adjacent Nothing really
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional - The attention to detail in everything .
Love the fact that they try in as far as possible to make or produce as much on site eg grow their own vegetables, herbs ,fruit, flowers ,eggs, ,honey, jam ,some meats : pork and lamb .Do their own coffee roasting .
Also source their produce locally fish + cheese . A bit pricey but to put a package like this together and employ so many staff can understand why .
- Suzanne (9/5): Superb - Lovely spacious and comfortable room with large bathroom including free standing bath and shower. Very friendly and courteous staff. Nothing, it was all very satisfactory, a great luxury stay. The highlight of course was the superb dinner, although the wine was a little pricey.
- Robert (10/5): This out second visit to Bsllymaloe this year so that is testament enough - Everything!!

Magical in everyway!
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional - Although it is an expensive choice, everything was of a very high quality which made it excellent value for money Could do with new tennnis balls!
- Erin (10/5): Gorgeous little B&B - Lovely, out of the way setting. Nice pool, tennis court, walking paths. Our rooms were nice and the bathroom was modern. Service for tea and in the dining room was fantastic. We enjoyed the 5-course dinner well into the night. No self-serve laundry whoch put a cramp in our plans but not a huge deal. The desk staff was super accomodating
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): a privilege to strep sideways off the roundabout of quotidian life and experience a few days of peace to live life as it - the food, the friendliness of everyone, the ambiance, the harvest going on around- the feeling of timelessness. nothing- it was pretty faultless. Mind you the weather was extraordinary- never have I seen Ireland so drenched in sun.
- Sasha (10/5): - Ballymaloe House is located in a beautiful country estate setting with lots of greenery around the property. The locally sourced food is exquisite. I would like to go back and spend more time there.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is the most beautiful hotel that we have ever stayed in. It’s like a story book. The staff is absolutely amazing. We came for the Ironman race. The staff brought breakfast to our room the night before since we would be gone before breakfast and the chefs made special hot chocolate for recovery afterwards. Patrick gave us directions everywhere we needed to go since a lot of roads were closed. He was wonderful. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel. We can’t wait to return next year. Thank you for such a memorable experience!
