Guest Reviews
- Mitchell (10/5): -
Malheureusement ça a bien changé 😢
- Alessandra (10/5): - Tutto Niente
- Kersten (10/5): Great place to stay in Siem Reap! - The hosts were the nicest people and gave us so much information about Siem Reap that made our short stay so much better.

- Kate (10/5): - The laid back and welcoming feeling Leaving
- Super accueil, super emplacement.
- silvia (10/5): - A fairytale welcome in a dream location!
The staff were precise, punctual, and attentive, greeting us impeccably and preparing a truly royal welcome in our room. The room itself was large, spotless, and well organized, just like the beautifully maintained garden.
The owner, Gauthier, was incredibly helpful, offering great advice and solving every little issue with kindness and efficiency.
Breakfast also deserves special mention — every request we made was fully satisfied.
We honestly didn’t expect such a wonderful surprise. Highly recommended!
- Marta (10/5): Well located. Quiet place. Friendly staff - Well located. Quiet place. Friendly staff.
- Léo (7/5): -
- Gabrielle (9/5): Heerlijke plek!
- Erik (10/5): -
- Nicole (8/5): Lovely hotel in great location - Lovely little hotel situated behind a great restaurant. Easy walking distance from the old centre. Comfortable bed. Spacious room. And very friendly and hospitable owner and staff.
- Marie (8/5): Very good -
- Nowshad (9/5): Superb -
- Falcon (10/5): all great! - great people
- Megan (10/5): Maison 557… a feeling of home away from home. - We had the most wonderful stay at Maison 557. The owners and staff were so friendly and kind, they not only helped with activities around the area but gave us an insight to life in Siem Reap.
Chef Mengly and his staff create the most delicious Cambodian food in Siem Reap. It was such a bonus to have PinakPou restaurant in the Maison. It’s a must to eat here.
Be sure to do the cooking class with Chef Mengly, you wont be disappointed.
We were fortunate to enjoy a day in the village with Mengly and his family, fishing and a picnic in the rice fields.
A day to remember.
The location is very central with a short walk to the riverside night markets, yet one feels miles away tucked under the trees in Maison 557.
Tours to the temples are easy from here.
We extended our stay here to 8 nights we enjoyed it so much.
We will be back!
It was an all round fantastic stay.
Thank you Maison 557 and PinakPou staff!
- Alejandro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (7/5): Good -
- John (9/5): Great location good value - Great older style property No tv in room
- Anissa (9/5): Superb - Beautiful little hotel, feels like you are secluded from outside world. Staff were wonderful.
- Nat (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (8/5): Wonderful first stay in Cambodia - Location, staff, ambience Lake of lighting in room very dark
- Alexis (5/5): Passable -
- Yelena (10/5): Quiet resting place - Centrally located, yet very quiet, this 8 room hotel has the friendliest, most accommodating staff and large rooms. The outdoor shower is huge and the weather is perfect for it. The bed is huge and I slept very well. The breakfast is made to order, or you can pre-order it the morning before if you have an early tour. In all, highly recommend. The made to order breakfast can take a while, even if you order something simple like a sandwich (took half an hour), so schedule accordingly.
- Emma (5/5): Passable - It is my third stay in this hotel. I like the location, the gardens. The owners are nice and hard working. There is also their cute dog friendly to everyone. Sadly, this time, I have been disappointed. I got a room right on the street, very noisy, between two loud restaurants. Small details but important for a traveller: plugs that did not work, towels with holes in them, dirty toilets when I arrived, no kettle. I asked for toilet paper, and this was never given to me, and I had to find some by myself at 11pm when I realised that. There used to be a delicious breakfast, which is now not included anymore in the price: for a "bed and breakfast", I feel this makes no sense anymore. So, instead,I went to the delicious French bakery next door.
- Antonio (10/5): - This hotel is a good choice for the visit of the temples of Angkor in Siem Reap. Everybody working at the facility was very kind, helpful and professional.
- Heather (8/5): Good stay - Very clean, modern room and lovely open plan bathroom. Beautiful soaps and bathroom kit provided, good overhead shower. Overall good ambience in the restaurant and bar area out the front. We managed to pre-order our breakfast as we were leaving early the next day which was really helpful. Central location, 5 mins away from most things (apart from Angkor Wat, 15 mins) and places to eat and minimarkets a short walk away. Really pleased with our stay for the price! We only stayed for 1 night so didn't get to use the pool. There is no door for the bathroom in case this is something that bothers you (again, was doable for us for only 1 night!)
Our bed was very high up (2x mattresses) could do with a nightstand to put phone on.
I think our room was closest to the restaurant and could hear pots clanging from the kitchen at night and the music continued until around 11 even though no-one was there, could've been turned down for us but I'm nitpicking a bit here!! We would stay here again.
- Seow (7/5): Could be better - Location is convenient. Friendly and welcoming staff. Cleanliness can be improved. It’s hard to feel comfortable in a property that’s not clean.
- Chi-jen (8/5): Nice location, great service - The owner and staffs of the hotel were extremely friendly. They were actively contacting me before my arrival to make sure they were ready to welcome me. The check in process was very smooth. They have a super cute and playful dog. The room is basic yet comfy. The neighborhood is right in the city center of Siem Reap, many good restaurants and cafes are within 5 minutes walking distance. The facilities inside the room were not too many. I didn't get a hairdryer, toilet paper ran out on the third night and because all the staffs were off work I couldn't ask for help.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neal (7/5): Nice and cosy spot to launch your Ankhor Wat activities from - As per previous reviews, the bed was extremely hard, but it was ok for us. We were very lucky and had excellent service as there were not many bookings at the time we were there. Having your own pool was magnificent, but see other comments about the privacy, but that didnt bother us. The wifi was very hit and miss.
- John (9/5): Very cozy, comfortable and centrally located property ... beside the wonderful PinakPou restaurant. - Everything was fine. Twin beds provided comfort for my friend and myself. I had a health episode to which the staff responded quickly and admirably. Lighting fixtures were positioned a bit oddly.
- Pornkanok (10/5): Exceptional -
- Candy (10/5): Fabulous little guesthouse, great food and nice decor, centrally located. - Lovely staff, central location, great restaurant. Music in bar was a bit dated.
- Suresh (9/5): Comfortable and convenient stay with excellent hospitality and a great location - Room:
Our stay in the hotel was very comfortable. The room was spacious, offering enough space to accommodate an additional bed for a child. The bed itself was large, ensuring a good night's sleep. The presence of two air conditioning units kept the room pleasantly cool. The bathroom was equally spacious, providing ample room to move around. One of the highlights was the private pool, which was quite large and a perfect way to cool down after exploring the temples. The hotel also provided filtered drinking water at the breakfast area, allowing us to refill our water bottles conveniently. Overall, the room felt homely and welcoming.
Breakfast:
The breakfast menu was simple but satisfying. While it wasn't an extensive spread, the quality of the food was good, making for a pleasant start to the day. They even provided breakfast in a take-away box when we had to leave early for our flight.
Hospitality:
The hospitality at the hotel was exceptional. A special mention goes to Kimyon and team, who was remarkably quick in attending to all our requests. The taxi and tuk-tuk drivers arranged by the hotel were also commendable; they were not only good in English but also provided excellent service. Security was available during night hours, offering an added sense of safety and assisting guests in crossing the road.
Location:
The hotel's location was very convenient. It was just a 5-minute walk to Pub Street and the market area, where there were plenty of restaurants and shops. For immediate needs, there was a mini-mart just opposite the road. Additionally, several street food vendors, restaurants, and shops were in close proximity, making it easy to find something to eat or shop at any time. There were a few areas for improvement. The room and facilities appeared somewhat dated and could benefit from some refurbishment. The towels provided could have been newer. The water pressure in the bathroom could have been better. Additionally, while the breakfast was good, a more varied spread would have enhanced the overall experience.
- Cassandra (9/5): Superb - I have stayed here before and will stay here again. I love the Wat Bo area and Maison 557 offers the bonus of a well-regarded chef!
I love the garden environment - especially sitting there and eating the delicious food!
- Gerard (9/5): Loved our time at Maison 557 - Location - coffee - restaurant - pool - staff - tours
- Kristi (10/5): Awesome great location, staff and food close to all the sites, taxi, tuk tuk on hand. Lovely people with local knowledge - Everything Nothing!
- Flora (10/5): Cannot recommend highly enough. The perfect boutique hotel to explore Siem Reap and Angkor. -
- Hannah (7/5): Cute ambience, quiet. - Cute, character. Little sanctuary. The room was a bit run down eg. Curtains and bathroom.
- Guilherme (8/5): Great place to stay and relax with great staff and a great location. Highly recommended! - The place is very nice and the staff always very friendly We would have love to have a window in the bedroom that we could open
- Ms. (10/5): Their staff is very friendly and I feel warm to live there - Breakfast, room view Electric problem
- Madhurima (10/5): Highly recommend, right at the heart of Siem Reap - Stayed for 4 days (March end) at the Suite with Private Pool of Maison 557. The pool was a respite after full day temple hopping around and across Siem Reap. Maison 557, a boutique property is like a gardened oasis in the Wat Bo locality. So the best part is its location and proximity to all the happening places around Siem Reap. It is just a 8-9 mins walk from Pub Street. The staff are courteous, amiable and professional. A shoutout to Gauthier, Joan and team for being perfect hosts and how can I forget Austin, the welcoming and friendly pug at the property whom you can hardly blame for occasionally taking a dip in your pool in the Siem Reap’s sweltering heat. Maison 557 ticked all the boxes from cleanliness to comfort. The suite is spacious, perfectly air conditioned and the wifi is pretty good. Overall had a wonderful time and the suite with pool is highly recommended. None. Should have extended our stay. :(
- Alexandra (10/5): Wonderful stay in the heart of Siem Reap - Extremely quiet and cozy. Very nice big room, comfortable beds, cool outside shower, great swimming pool and breakfast area. The laundry service was great. Gauthier was very nice and helpful, even giving us restaurant recommendations for our next stop in Phnom Penh. The toilet doesn't have a door. It's shielded from sight with a half wall, but this just doesn't offer enough privacy.
- Marlene (10/5): Beautiful French colonial and unique style hotel. - Great location!
- Hombremosca (8/5): It's very good, could be perfect. - Hotel has great design, one of that place which stays in your mind. Eating area and pool area is green, calm and relaxing. Great place to stay and feel the vibe. I had the feeling that the personel has a tendency to forget: to fix AC (37 degree), to clean up our room, to check if the hair drayer fits the power outlet (it doesn't) or how can we use coffee/tea set without kettle, to prepare our breakfast box us promised.
It would be perfect place, if the owner cares more.
- Ralf (10/5): perfect stay - We visited Maison 557 in Feb. 2024 for one week with the whole family and a little baby. All was perfect prepared and we received an excellent service.
The location is very cozy and is in an excellent position close to the city center. Easy transport by TukTuk or GRAB to the historical sizes. Many thanks to our friendly drivers.
We had a wonderful time at Maison 557 and would like to thank our friendly hosts!
- Ian (9/5): Superb - A little haven in a busy city. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The airport tuktuk pickup was great and a good way to get straight into the city vibe. It's a central location and you are really spoilt for food / coffee / bar options around there. Everything worked as expected and the room was kept serviced and clean. Not much, although if my budget had allowed I would have chosen a different hotel with access to a gym. I am a keen runner and I soon discovered it's difficult to run in the city.
- Carl (9/5): Superb - Great location and great food.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great value for money.
- Hillary (10/5): - The staff and owners were incredibly friendly, helpful and flexible. The breakfast was delicious, and we were right near many amazing restaurants. The pool was a great way to cool down after a hot day out and about. We would stay here again!
- Hans (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (10/5): Highly recommend. - The hotel is beautiful, very clean and in a perfect location. Breakfast was super delicious. The owners, Gucci and Joanne, and the entire staff were very helpful, friendly, and went out of their way to make our trip extremely enjoyable and memorable. We will definitely be back. Nothing. They hit it out of the park.
- Sian (8/5): Very good - The room surpassed my expectations in its size. It was of a high quality although it did miss a few finishing touches (no bed side tables and only 1 water glass, kettle didnt work).
Whilst we didn't use the tour services offered there were lots of options avaliable.
Location is perfect, loads of great cafes and restaurants on the doorsteps and a short stroll over the river to pub street
Night time security guard on gate helped us safely cross the road and was very welcoming The pool area didn't really have enough loungers for the number of rooms and not much sun. We still enjoyed it post Angkor!
When coming to check out we had taken out cash to make payment (as per booking.com instructions to pay in USD). The reception didn't have change so asked us to pay on card with 3% service charge. We didn't do this having paid to take cash out and eventually managed to sort smaller notes but this was not very smooth or helpful. Wasn't the best end.
- Meghan (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast and location were great - staff very friendly. Very unique and older building. We booked the private pool room and in the beginning noticed a lot of mosquitoes in the room - the windows and doors were not sealed. We also saw three cockroaches in the bathroom one morning so we switched rooms. The second room/suite was quite large, however, the bathroom was dirty and was missing the blow dryer. All in all a little overpriced for what we received.
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Martina (7/5): Excellent clean place friendly staff good location - Location is great, quiet and in the middle of the city. The room is spacious and the bathroom as well. Staff that speaks English is very friendly. I think they should have a bit better Maintanace as the room was smelling a bit moldy and around the premises you could see some work needs to be done.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming, centrally-located hotel - Lovely little hotel. Very centrally located but quiet. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food. All in all, an absolutely wonderful experience. Hope to come back some time.
- Melanie (9/5): professional and kind staff, pretty mansion. - We arrived at Maison 557 exhausted by a long and terrible trip. I am very sensible to noise and Maison 557 was aware of it. Because they only had one room left (near the restaurant) they upgraded us in another, one day after to be more quiet.
Unfortunately, I am too sensible to noise and Siem reap is a very noisy city. Because Maison 557 is very central and near a road, my expectation of a quiet place was disappointed.
BUT the kindness and the professionalism of the staff made me stay in this hotel even if I had to wear ear plug. I rarely found such a nice staff in a hotel, very attentioned to their clients, making people feel at home, helping us with everything during our stay.
Congratulation to this hotel who offer a service "à la française". Plus, the restaurant is delicious, Even if the location offer many possibilities to eat outside, try eat cause it deserves your attention! the sound of the road near by. But hey, my fault. If you want a real silence you will have to stay outside of Siem Reap!
- Emma (10/5): Second time in this hotel - My second time in this hotel! Very cute, nice staff, good breakfast, nice location! Nothing!
- Fabienne (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was extremely smiling . Kind.
The restaurant attached to the B&B is amazing. Food is the best Quite disappointed about the room. Wasn’t the one I had originally booked. The pillow wasn’t really in good condition of cleanness.
- Olia (10/5): Exceptional - The room with a private pool was absolutely amazing!!! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Super clean place. Breakfast was fantastic with many options to choose from. Location is perfect, central but very quite, only 5 min walk to Pub Street.
Water in the pool was very clean(staff clean it every day multiple times to keep it perfect for you), and it's warm enough for swimming as well. Coming after a very hot sticky trip around the temples and jumping into the pool is what we needed! We've read some reviews before booking this place in, other guests mentioned "jungle, oasis". Well, it definitely is, and it's a gorgeous green place! What comes with the "jungle" is the jungle noise from birds and toads. It took us a while to get used to it as we are light sleepers. The hotel obviously can't do anything about it, it's just something you need to expect when you choose to stay at a hotel with a massive garden. Otherwise, it's an amazing place that we would highly recommend to all our friends to stay at.
- Janice (10/5): Comfortable hotel close to everything - This hotel is perfect for exploring Seim Reap. It is perfectly located close to restaurant and bars, the markets and shopping. The staff are very attentive and are happy to assist you to make plans for seeing nearby Angkor Wat. We enjoyed local and western foods in the restaurant as well as cold beer and cocktails. This hotel is very eco friendly. There is no refrigerator available in the rooms
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed at the hotel four nights and everything was perfect, the staff was very welcoming and was always available, the pool is perfect to relax after exploring the city and Angkor Wat and the breakfast is really good!
- Jon (10/5): Exceptional - Room was quiet and large. Excellent location away from the chaos of Pub Street but close to the center. Nice pool for cooling off after excursions. Great attached restaurant (Pou). Super helpful staff with arranging tours, logistics, etc. Thanks to Gauthier and crew!
- Steven (10/5): Amazing location and staff. - The pool room was great and the staff were exceptional. The location is central so you can walk everywhere. They lock the gate each night so you have to unlock it to get in. The lock is easy to open but there is a lever that needs to be opened from the inside. Not easy as the hole in the gate is not that big and the lever is a bit stiff. Luckily, I have skinny forearms.
- Piet (8/5): Very good - Nice and spacious rooms, the swimming pool, super helpful staff Lack of mosquito nets, rooms smell a bit (humidity)
- Julian (10/5): Little piece of paradise in Siem Reap - Such an amazing B&B, clean, beautiful, cozy & well located. It’s super close to pub street, and within a neighbourhood full of bars, cafes and restaurants. The team is lovely, the owners are super helpful!
The on-site restaurant is delicious!
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Meng (10/5): Felt like home - We definitely enjoyed our stay in Maison 557. Everything came almost like surprises for us. The location is perfect, right in the centre but not noisy. The room, pool and whole enrionvment was beautiful and enjoyable. Everyday we look forward to come back and relax there after an exausting day. The restaurant outside of the hotel is surprising. It caters people with different preferences. Every staff were very welcoming and made everything felt like home.
We very much miss this place :)
- Michelle (7/5): Okay for one/two night stay. - Good location, helpful Reception staff with booking tours. Breakfast options limited and expensive for size and quality.
- Tao (9/5): Superb - the vibe!
- You must consider their guidebook where they put all the nice resyitauramts / bars in neighbourhood!!!
- the staff!
- inside restaurants - not as new as it looked in the photos
- the pool was not clean
-
- Jens (8/5): Great guesthouse in a cool Siem Reap neighbourhood. - The staff were really helpful and nice and the private pool that came with our room was fantastic.
- Ana (10/5): fantastic, we had a wonderful time here, the staff was very attentive, perfectly organized tours with our driver - outdoor pool and close to spa, coffee shops etc nothing
- Tommy (8/5): Very good -
- Diana (10/5): A sweet oasis in the middle of the city! - This place was beautiful. A garden in the middle of the city. The staff was the best thing, the pool was clean and warm, and breakfast and welcome drinks were excellent. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it to everyone. Nothing!
- Robyn (9/5): Superb -
- Marcus (7/5): Good - Very friendly and helpful staff
Cute place
Nice rooms Unfortunately, the hotel creates unnecessary expectations because they charge such a high price. For 25-30% less i would not complain about: Very slow and unorganized breakfast, quite small as well; No mosquito net in one room; no bathroom door in other room, restaurant directly in front of suite, so a lot of noise (especially hard if you want to wake up for sunrise the next morning).
All in all, we would come back, just not for this price
