• Karlijn (5/5): Geen warm water en stank - Geen warm water. Bij het strand wat bij het hotel hoort ligt heel veel zeewier. Dat stonk enorm en je kan daardoor niet de zee in. Bij andere hotels wordt het strand wel vrij gemaakt van zeewier.
• Aghilas (1/5): C’est une arnaque !!! - Rien d’exceptionnel vraiment un gâchis Expérience extrêmement décevante. Nous avons payé le prix fort pour un séjour qui ne correspondait absolument pas à la réalité décrite par l’hôtel. L’établissement communique sur une plage “clean” et une eau “merveilleuse”, alors qu’en réalité la plage était envahie d’algues avec une odeur insupportable, au point de donner envie de vomir. Impossible de profiter du séjour, de se promener tranquillement ou même de dormir correctement à cause de l’odeur. Aucune transparence de la part de l’hôtel sur cette situation. Même constat pour le parking annoncé, quasiment inexistant. Le plus choquant reste cependant l’attitude du personnel. On nous a clairement dit d’annuler la chambre en nous assurant, les yeux dans les yeux, que nous serions remboursés. Résultat : aucun remboursement, malgré leurs promesses. Une attitude profondément malhonnête et irrespectueuse envers les clients. Je ne recommande absolument pas cet hôtel. Il existe heureusement d’autres endroits bien plus propres, agréables et surtout honnêtes.

Il est un excentré de la rue commerçante 2 min à pied du bout de la rue. Plage nettoyée tous les jours. Grande chambre et grande terrasse avec vue sur la mer. Sur cette période pas la possibilité de prendre le petit déjeuner sur place, mais de nombreux bar en propose à 4min à pied..

I am very sorry bc it seems like once it was a nice place to stay, but that is not the case anymore. Common areas are closed or not properly cleaned, rooms feel like they haven't been used long, smell and are full of mosquitos. Beach area had Sargassum (algae) which is normal but was not taken care of. After seeing this reality we decided to find somewhere else to stay.

• Dominique (5/5): Déception pour Mahahual et pour l'hotel - La chambre n'était pas conforme à ce que nous attendions. Pas de balcon et aucun mobilier a part le lit sur un podium et le bain tourbillon. Le personnel pas tellement accommodant, le restaurant de l'hotel etait assez ordinaire. Au petit déjeuner il n'y avait pas de lait pour le café nous sommes allés en acheté au dépanneur à 100 mètres de l'hôtel. La plage n'était pas entretenue, donc pas de baignade possible.

• Caroline (8/5): Good place to stay! - Great location - just past the busy part of the malecon therefore it’s quiet but still an easy walk to the centre. Very spacious room with a very large patio and nice view of the sea (jr suite with sea view). Great shower. Very friendly staff. They helped to arrange a snorkel tour that was very good and well priced. I would stay here again. There was a lot of sargassum when we first arrived but they did do a lot to clean it all up by the time we left. The neighbouring properties do not clean up the sargassum at all, so as much as this hotel tries to do there is still a lot and the smell was strong. Due to this, the entrance to the water was not very appealing. The offerings at the restaurant are very limited but we preferred the walk to town where there was lots of variety.

• Tim (7/5): Great location if you want to be slightly away from the hustle bustle - Location is great if you want to be away from the main strip but close enough to walk the bars. Its a little tired an the room smelt a bit. It was a shame they did not maintain their part of the beach in the 3 days we were there. We used the next beach bar along, as they had cleaned all the seaweed of the front which made it more pleasant.

Die Zimmer waren schön und groß, mit einem großen Balkon sowie Badezimmer. Das Personal war freundlich. Zwei Dinge : das Meer bzw der Strand wurde nur bedingt sauber gemacht. Gerade der Übergang ins Meer war voller Algen und Müll. Sonst war der Strand gepflegt. Wie oben geschrieben das Personal war freundlich, allerdings finde ich dass zu wenig Aufmerksamkeit vorhanden war. Man musste sehr lange auf Speisen oder Getränke warten. Teilweise Unterhalten die sich mit dem andern Personal oder spielen / schauen auf ihr Handy. Es war auch nicht immer jemand an der Rezeption, so dass man zu lange auf den Schlüssel warten musste, alternativ musst man selber den Schlüssel holen...

• Karin (6/5): Schöne Zimmer - Strand nicht nutzbar - etwas lieblos - Nach Unterkünften im Dschungel wollten wir gerne ein richtiges abgeschlossenes Zimmer in einem Hotel mit Bar und Strand. Dafür sind wir extra nach Mahahual gefahren, der einzige Ort auf unserer Rundreise, den wir hätten skippen können, nicht wirklich schön. Die Parkplätze sind vorhanden, der Strand klein, aber es hätte uns gereicht, wenn das bis auf den Balkon stinkende Seegras nicht gewesen wäre trotz offiziellen Netzen , drei Grundstücke weiter wurde es mit vielen Personen beseitig. Das spartanische Personal sprach ausschließlich spanisch, und Google Übersetzer war sehr schwierig in der Nutzung. Und wurde das Zimmer gezeigt, und Frühstückspreise, mehr Infos gab es nicht, Barbetrieb o.ä. nicht erkennbar vorhanden. Die Junior Suite war sehr geräumig mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht und sehr großem Balkon. Kein Trinkwasser zur Begrüßung etc bei dem höchsten Preis, den wir auf der Reise je bezahlt haben. Wir hatten eine nette zuvor gebuchte Schnorcheltour mit Eco Tours und sind mit dem Auto zu einem sehr guten Italiener Mangio Piano, mehr gutes können wir leider über den Aufenthalt nicht sagen. Siehe oben. Wohlwissend, das der September in die Nachsaison fällt und weniger los ist: Nicht nutzbarer Strand/ Terrasse, insbesondere wegen des Seegrases und des Geruchs nach faulen Eiern. Schlechter Wartungszustand. Zimmer waren sauber gemacht worden, aber sicher Tage zuvor bei der großen Ansammlung von Spinnweben z.B. im unteren Duschbereich - ansonsten top sauber. Entsprechend kaum oder keine weiteren Gäste. Sehr schade bei einem eigentlich tollen Konzept. Fazit, ich kam mir vor wie in einem völlig überteuerten Motel auf einer Durchreise. Ich bewerte regelmäßig und eigentlich immer sehr fair.

• Emile (7/5): Un peu décevant. - Hôtel calme et de bon rapport qualité prix. Les chambres sont agréables. L'hôtel est légèrement excentré du "centre ville". Il est indiqué plage privative, mais ne comptez pas vous baigner. Il s'agit surtout d'une plage avec 3 transats et des bateaux de pêche qui jettent l'ancre au milieu des algues. Pas de petit déjeuner sur place.

• MA (8/5): - We booked 7 nights at Hotel Luna de Plata but stayed 6 due to transportation changes. Sadly, the property feels abandoned. The lobby furniture is worn out, paint is peeling from the walls, and the front area is broken, unshaded, and even gets wet when it rains. The restaurant has been closed for over a year (something Expedia has not updated), so there is no food service and not even drinking water for guests—we had to buy our own. At check-in, instead of a warm welcome, we were given a lecture about hotel rules, which left a poor first impression. During our stay, only three people were working with guests, including an excellent housekeeper who did her best, but overall the staff felt insufficient for the size of the property. On the positive side, the room was spacious, with a nice balcony and view. The quiet location at the far end of the Mahahual strip was convenient for relaxation, away from vendors and crowds. We adapted by buying a cooler for drinks, and nearby Bar Luna (great seafood) plus a corner store were very helpful. Still, the first impression was disappointing compared to the online photos (clearly from the hotel’s better days), and the nightly rate was overpriced for the condition of the property. Considering everything, both the hotel and Expedia should compensate guests for misleading information.

Las toallas no las cambiaron pese a que sí se solicitó su cambio y el último día, no arreglaron la cama, pues quitaron la sabana que cubría colchón.

Ze spreken geen woord engels. Eenmaal op de kamer stonk het en was die heel erg verouderd. Toen we het restaurant gingen zoeken bleek die er niet te zijn. We zijn hier direct weer weggegaan.
• Martin (7/5): Prima locatie voor kort verblijf - Kamers waren ruim, schoon en het bed zeer fijn. Het strand dit i.v.m. aangespoeld zeewier wat erg ruikt.

• Isaac (7/5): Mahahual una experiencia..... - La habitacion asignada fue amplia, eso fue un plus ya que viajamos 4 adultos; algo a resaltar es que cuenta con agua caliente y minisplit lo cual mantenia una temperatura agradable en la hablitacion. la habitación cuenta con caja fuerte. Es un hotel viejo pero funcional, no cuenta con restaurante, el baño es una sola pieza (inodoro, regadera y lavabo), en mi caso eso cimplica mucho ya que viajamos 4 adultos. El televisro que cuenta es demasiado pequeño. Se encuntra unicado un poco retirado el malecon y con la temperatura se hace complicado camniar hasta la zona tours y restaurantes. La zona de playa esta llena de sargazo aun y cuando es un problema general de la ciudad, en esta area no mantienen limpio. Siento que el pueblo esta sobre valorado en general, tanto hospedaje y restaurantes.

• frédéric (6/5): Déçus - Nous avions choisi cet hôtel pour sa proximité avec la plage et les bons avis mis sur hôtel.com. Nous avons été très déçus. La plage en face de l'hôtel n'est pas propre, ainsi que les alentours de l'hôtel. Il y a des Sargasses, et les transats ne sont pas en bon état. La chambre que nous avions était petite, humide (rien ne séchait dans la chambre), et le mobilier pas du tout au goût du jour. Ne parlons pas de la SDB d'un autre âge avec des robinets en fer complètement émaillés, des joints sales. La literie était correcte. Aucune restauration à l'hôtel. L'hôtel est excentré de toutes les animations de Mahahual (on est au centre en 5,6 mn à pied mais quand on le fait plusieurs fois par jour, ça peut devenir pénible). Bref, nous ne recommandons pas cet hôtel.

• Stephanie (8/5): - This hotel is just south of the main areas of Mahahual which makes it quieter than being in town when cruise ships are in port. The host was very friendly, beds were very comfortable, shower was hot, potable water provided on site. We would stay here again if we are in Mahahual again.

• Ratz (6/5): We traveled from Cozumel to Bacalar and this was the least value for the Peso. - Nice rooms with ocean views but we paid more for that. Wanted rooms close together but seemed to be the more expensive rooms that were closer. Clean, quiet, nice interior courtyard with numerous plants and trees. Walking distance to everything. Needed a bar fridge to keep things cold in the room. No ice. No coffee machines in the rooms. Complimentary breakfast was toast and cold coffee. Wi-Fi was a problem could only get it by the check in desk.

• B (8/5): - The breakfeast is very poor. Only sliced bread and butter. We suggest some jam and peanut butter. the coffee is terrible. We have to go out for a good coffee. The Room was perfect and the private beach was a must.

• ilan (10/5): - Luna de Plata is the last hotel on the Malecon (the walkway by the sea in Mahuhalal), and. that is what makes it special. It is the last stronghold on the Maya Coast to withstand tourist invasion. II is low-key as if sucmbing to the sea breezes and the quiet. Both the hotel and the area feel like the world of yesterday. Low-key, personal, and not slick. You can walk to the town's center to enjoy the various restaurants, but you always retreat to this peaceful oasis, leaving the cruise ships that frequent the town in the distance. Dario, the Italian-born owner, and his staff are very sweet , dedicated individuals who are attentive and available but not sleek and overbearing as in most of the resort hotels. Do not miss the bar and restaurant of the neighboring Luna Beach Club only few steps away where you can nurse a margarita or mojito at sunset on the beach, all the way to moonrise, taking in the peacefulness of this part of Mahahuhal. But hurry up before the Cruise ships wil devour this last piece of havean

• Sergio Roberto (2/5): - El trato de la persona que atiende en el bar es pésimo y muy grosero, solo por qué se fue gritando por qué le pedimos una bebida que no sabía preparar, si se hubiera quedado ahí creo que hubiese sido otra cosa de llegar hasta los golpes, al final casi me tira las bebidas y lo peor de todo por la mañana me las cobraron por qué ni la cuenta se atrevió a darnos, pesimo lugar si piensas ir a descansar con esta actitud del personal aclaro que solo hablo del bartender, muy malo de verdad piensen dos veces antes de ir a comer o tomar una bebida en este lugar, pedimos hablar con el gerente y tampoco nadie se presento
