- Nelson (8/5): I loved the facility....very special accomodation room for a contest event. - Great breakfast, and the food brought in was delicious! I slept quite well, and everything clean in the room. Your Fri. eve. and Sat. staff were so friendly and helpful with our conference held in the big room. Thank you. Cost of the convention room was over priced. Table cloths were dusty, dirty, no speakers, or no AV display projector to connect to made it difficult for us to have our Optimist Speech Contest & meeting. Charging $900 for a room rental should include the equipment for projection and microphones.

Also a full court basketball and tennis court. Pool handicap accessibility available and jacuzzi. The place waa huge. Bigger then it looked from outside. Would recommend for sure.

I called the front desk twice and the night clerk was completely unhelpful. Even took the remote down to him. VERY FRUSTRATING as there was a football game I badly wanted to watch. Also the stopper in the bathtub was disgusting

- James (1/5): Will never stay here again. - There was not much to like about this place. The receptionist was nice and friendly at check in. The next guy I dealt with was not as friendly. The hot tub was out of order, the pool was dirty!!! The shower we were supposed to use between the dry sauna and pool was out of order, The breakfast was sub par, bacon was more bits and texture of plastic and the waffle mix was empty except there was just enough to put into half of the broken waffle makers.

My Fiancee was up and saw breakfast was ready at 7 am when he was downstairs. He did get me a plate and himself as well. As we checked out on Sunday morning before 11am .I saw the wooden plaque that said breakfast served 6am to 9am. I am Diabetic and if my Fiancee hadnt been downstairs to see breakfast was ready, I could have been in trouble if I wouldnt have gotten breakfast so my sugar level didnt go to low. I just dont understand why the man that was working behind the Desk told us that breakfast started at 9am. We dont live in Monticello ,there is a Restruant we enjoy there and a Store, and I found the Hotel on line We really did enjoy our stay. Only spent one night,but we enjoyed the Huge bed and the size of the room. Also liked it had a microwave and small frig ,all came in handy. Thank You

- Timothy (10/5): Excellent stay at Best Western Brandywine in Monticello, IN! We will absolutely be back. Thank you! - We had a blast nearby at Indiana Beach which is minutes from the Best Western Brandywine in Monticello, IN. Best Western was the perfect place to stay! We will stay here again. The sauna was excellent. The pool was beautiful but cold. The hot tub was not working and taped off. But WOW the facility is HUGE, with so many EXTRA activities to enjoy! Great locker room too. You must take a walk over the entire hotel and see the racquetball courts, full basketball court, tennis court, event center, large breakfast area, and much more. The gym was HUGE! The fitness center was HUGE! This has to be the largest and most complete fitness center at any hotel or resort we've ever stayed. We've traveled extensively. The staff was kind, friendly, and inviting. The room was excellent, very clean, spacious (1 king bed suite), inexpensive (Oct 5, 2025), great heat/ac, tv was strange (asked to use my phone to access channels, we skipped it), very safe location, nearby everything, parking was excellent, clean, plentiful, and the property is beautiful. They do have a hot breakfast, with a nice privately considered large breakfast area. We had to leave very early so we didn't get a chance to enjoy that amenity. As we checked in though, the host was kind enough to suggest we come early and grab something to eat or drink before leaving. We thought that was very considerate. Special thanks to her. We did grab a coffee. We left at 4:50am. We will absolutely stay here again when we come back through this area. We were completely satisfied with everything. - mindam35 (4/5): A new low for the Brandywine Monticello - We have been coming to this place for 30 years…every single summer. This was the absolute low point of our experience and we will be looking for something different for next summer. We probably reserved at least 8 rooms, and 6 out of 8 had a problem… a shower curtain fell down, loud honks coming from the shower head, icky bathroom corners, the pool was in bad shape, etc. Etc. Also the ice machine was working on only one floor and the snack machine was closed down. I guess it wasn’t a profit center for the owners any longer. Just an overall degradation of the place and I think they are cutting corners everywhere to make more $. The breakfast was still great, but that was its only saving grace. I wish there was someplace else.

We were not told when we booked that the hot tub by the pool was broke. Found a dirty washcloth by the hot tub in room so room must not have been cleaned fully not a clean room. Not happy for the price and I go there a few times a year this is the second time this happened not sure if I will go back.

- kurtsJ4469SB (2/5): Broken door latch and bathroom vent. Dirty bathroom. Uncaring staff. Very expensive. Avoid. - Very disappointing experience. Looks like another hotel that's become a cash cow for the owner who appears to be investing nothing in staff or maintenance. Door would not latch unless you threw your body weight into it. Bathroom fan was inoperative. Dirty bathroom with corroding faucet. One person to staff the entire building. Clerk at checkout never asked how our stay was - then never said "oh I'm so sorry to hear that" when we checked out ... after waiting at the front desk for more than 5 minutes for her to return from running something up to a room. And her failing to answer 3 calls that rang during this time. All this for $200 a night ($170 room + $30 in fees and taxes.) One positive: The clerk that checked us in on the 12th of September was the only bright spot. Not many options in Montecello unfortunately. But avoid this one.

- Wendy (6/5): Run down but the only hotel around - Like other reviews say it's been run down and consistently not cleaned. Sheets are stained the bathtub wasn't clean. We came in for a friend's birthday and only used the room for a couple hours. had we been there longer it would have been a really big deal. The front desk girl was super nice and efficient but that's where the pluses ended . Everything else was a minus. But they kind of have the market cornered in the area, there aren't any other real choices so it is what it is. Maybe bring some Clorox wipes and possibly sheets.

Stayed Tuesday through Saturday morning and only had maid service the first night. Pretty meager breakfast, no fruit, little selection but great coffee. Still would stay again
- kathrynpY6537ZL (4/5): Cleanliness and Customer Service is Lacking. Breakfast was the best part. - This place is not worth the almost $200/night price tag. Discovered stained/dirty sheets when it was time for bed. We were expected to change our own sheets and were told another room wasnt an option. After enough grief, we were given another room, which had the same problem as the first! We were willing to change our own sheets for a partial refund or just leave for a full refund. These weren't options. The man at the front desk personally checked out a 3rd room before reassigning us, and that one was finally clean. No apologies. No sense of good customer service. If youre lucky to get a clean room, the place isnt bad. Breakfast was the only redeeming part of our stay. Would pay $100, but not $200 to stay here again.
- Kathleen (6/5): - The staff was friendly. Beds were comfortable. Nice mattresses and pillows. Room was spacious and quiet. Nice fridge and Keurig. Bathroom seemed clean but the carpet in the bedroom did not. There was popcorn scattered under the desk and a spill stain on the floor by the door. Carpet wasn’t cleaned or at the very least vacuumed. Breakfast was below average. The bacon was like weird, thin salty, crumbly paper pieces. Eggs had no flavor. Thought I could make a bagel sandwich at least, but ran out of bagels. Not one thing tasted good except the Cheerios I ate and I’m not normally a cereal eater. Coffee was ok. For the high price we paid, my husband and I have stayed at much nicer hotels in this range. This price was similar to what we’ve paid in big cities like Chicago or Nashville. Overall an average hotel.

Breakfast had the worst tasteless eggs and when the bacon was out, they replaced with more under cooked platter of bacon. When checking out, desk clerk was not their. Helping out with breakfast. Also, hotel is NOT walkable to anything.

- Cathy (2/5): Very disappointed. - Friendly staff I was appalled with the lack of cleanliness in the bathroom. The tub was beyond disgusting with mold in the caulk lines and serious soap scum in the tub. The vanity was equally gross - although that part appeared clean, there was a large amount of lime scale from it being so old/outdated. I stayed there 7 years ago and it was amazing. It is now a 180 turnaround, and especially for the exuberant rate, I will not stay there again.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Sucked - Upon my arrival there was no one in the lobby to greet me. There was a sign stating be back assisting other guest. Finally when checking into my room the bath tub had some type of discoloration to it and felt gritty. Then to add to there was hot water didnt work in the bath tub but the sink was hot. Contacted the frojt desk after getting the run around then finally was able to switch room. 7am the next morning was awaken to loud banging to find out that the room was being repaired with no notice or anything.

The hot tub was out of order which was disappointing, as we drove out of our way to stay at a place that advertised a hot tub. Ice machine on second floor was out of order and the one on the first floor looked dirty. The hotel room itself was also not very clean. Would not recommend this hotel.

- cherylkD3236AF (6/5): It's Gone Downhill - It's gone downhill. I haven't been to this location in a few years. We used to stay regularly and we always talked about how clean and nice the facilities were. Before I booked this time, I saw a lot of negative reviews, but I decided to see for myself. They weren't wrong. The moment we walked in, the first thing I noticed was that the floor looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in days. You can still tell that the place was really nice at one point, but it's just not being kept up. The furniture in the lobby is damaged and scraped, and it's just not being cleaned the way it should be. The hallways and the room floors were also not vacuum ed. (See pictures) The ice machines were broken, the vending machines were broken, and the computer and the Business Center was broken. I walked down to the pool because I read the negative reviews. Again, I hate to say it, but the reviews did not lie. The entire pool area has a strange musty smell that I can't quite put my finger on. Hot tub out of order, but not drained, so full of stagnent water. I'll let my pictures speak for themselves. As I said, the carpet in our room was not vacuum. There was even a toy on a chair left over from a previous tenant. There were a few stains on the fitted sheets of the bed. Again, see pics. The breakfast was nothing to write home about. Instant oatmeal white bagels and white toast. Some eggs, sausage and underdone tater tots. In terms of location for Indiana Beach amusement park, this place is awesome! However, it seems me to see that the new owners have just let this place deteriorate to the point that it is now. It has a lot of potential, it's just going to take some elbow grease and some higher cleaning standards to fix it up. Another thing I found disturbing was some of the responses by the hotel owner to people on tripadvisor. When people would give a negative review, there are some responses from the hotel that say things like "Good stay away". And "Thank you for NOT staying with us again". I have never seen anything like that before. Something that I am waiting on to see is if my double room charge is going to be rectified. I was charged at about 11:00 a.m. on the day that we checked in. I found that to be totally normal. I got the alert on my text message that my credit card has been charged. However, I was charged again when I checked in. I showed them the text message that I had already been charged once, and they told me that was totally normal, and that I would be getting refunded one of those charges. I have never had something like this happen before, and if I do not get my refund in the next 24 hours, I will be updating this review.
- Pamela (6/5): - Overall the facility was very nice. The rooms were clean. I was there for 3 nights. The first night the people next door were blasting their TV even at 3am. The walls are very thin. The first day I did not require any housekeeping but on the second day I asked the housekeeper to come back but they never did. Slightly off putting but not a major issue.

- Deborah (7/5): Location is the reason I continue to stay at this hotel. - Location I have stayed here numerous times and there is always confusion about my accommodations. I specifically talked with someone at booking.com. On February 24, 2025 requesting a King suite with kitchenette and living room with sofa sleeper. That is not what I got! Very disappointing. I’ve included a photo of the accommodation I got, which was a room with sofa, sleeper, and king bed all in one area. No kitchenette, not separate living room area. Photos and names of the room accommodations on the website are different from what this hotel refers to. Very confusing!

- Willa (7/5): The rooms just okay. - This hotel has a bunch of amenities, ive never seen so much in my entire life. The gym is huge, it's like a mini Planet fitness and they have every type of workout machine you can imagine!! They have a tennis court, basketball court, racquetball, a sauna, a pool and offer massages. Its only like a few minutes from Indiana beach and has a gas station, and a store right by it for those unexpected needs. Besides the amenities, I wasnt impressed with anything else. You would think everything else would be spectacular because of all the amenities. The room just looked like a basic hotel room. The breakfast was just like every other hotel breakfast.

Rooms weren’t filthy by any means but we’re not spotless either. The pool area could use a renovation. The dry sauna room was nice. Breakfast was suitable enough. Not a bad place but not an over the top great place. A solid 8.0

Pool while useable was not clean - water was not fresh. Hallway leading to pull smelled like mold. The hot tub was out of order. Indian who checked us in had an attitude and insisted he could not print out my receipt upon vacating.

I was pleased with the location, the check-in process and the cleanliness of the room. I left my charger in the room and when I called to let the staff know, they found it and promised to send it back to me. Wonderful customer service, which can't be said for all hotels!

- Verified traveler (8/5): Overall good experience - Our stay was nice. Pros: friendly front desk, easy check in and out, comfortable bed, lots of bathroom counter space. Lastly, the gym was amazing! Cons: the tub in our room needs to be refinished so it looked a bit dirty, the bathroom does not have a fan, and the hotel definitely seemed a bit aged.

One of the other rooms had a bathroom sink leaking out. When we told the staff about the situation we got downgraded compared to what we paid for.

- Dziubczynski (1/5): Bad - Breakfast was good. Food was hot and delectable. I had 2 rooms. One room where my daughter and granddaughters stayed had breadcrumbs between the sheets on the first day. The second night we returned the room key would not work, but the door was unlocked. Upon entering she found food wrappers on the bed. My daughter took pictures and immediately went down the main desk where she received no sympathy and was told the manager would be there in the morning. The next morning she was told the manager doesn't work on Sundays. What the heck???!!! Are the staff using rooms and leaving them littered? Someone was in her room while we were out. Fortunately, there were no valuables in the room. This is totally unacceptable.

On the second morning of my stay, I was excited that biscuits and gravy was being served. The problem came when the bottom of the biscuits were very hard.

- Stephanie (2/5): - Mold in freezer where my medicine needed to be stored. Shower was gross. Sheets smelled gross. We left a night early even though it was paid for. Money gone.
- Aneaka (2/5): - The hotel was dark and depressing. Front lobby ice machine had mold at the bottom of it. The tub was extremely dirty and rusty. The bathroom sink faucets were dirty from water residue and previous guest toothpaste. Bathroom floor had hair on it upon first entry into the room, floors were not vacuumed; food crumbs found everywhere. Sheets were stained and bed cover was found to have large urine stain on it. Reported to the front desk representative of the findings and was told there was no one on the property to handle this issue due to late hours, the findings were captured by the front desk representative and was told that the manager will be sent the photos and notified first thing in the morning. Ironically the manager never showed to work due to a “family emergency.” Worst hotel stay I thought could have ever existed! Never again will I go there!
