• Timothy (5/5): Very disappointed that a chain hotel would operate this way. - Good location in proximity to downtown. The first floor smelled like marijuana. The staff was allowing marijuana to be smoked in the rooms and the entire first floor smelled like it. The smell crept into our room, so we were unable to get away from it. This made my wife very uncomfortable, and it was very disappointing.

The location was difficult to get to off the main highway, The location was such that we did not feel safe. Poor parking lot lighting. The toilet in the bathroom was so small/low, it was more suitable for a small child, not adults, especially seniors. No grab bars in the bathroom next to small toilet or in the shower.

TV or TV reception was not up to par. - We chose this hotel because we were travelling with our dog and only staying one night, so it was the most cost effective choice. Driving up to the hotel our expectations were low, being right next to a gas station and generally in an industrial or strip mall area. The grounds and parking lot were clean, but the green area was a bit small. Inside everything from the front desk to our room was clean and well maintained. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The TV or TV reception was fairly poor. I tried playing with the settings, but couldn't get it fixed. It seemed too bright and grainy. The breakfast was about on par with other Best Westerns we've stayed at. The staff were very friendly.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - A bit leary at first because of the inconsistent reviews (and when I pulled in there was a mattress in the dumpster area), but my room was clean, well laid out, and comfortable—although the furniture/decor could use updating.Mary at the front desk was friendly, gave good directions and recommendations, and overall helpful. This Best Western allows cats, and mine definitely enjoyed his adventure, and I enjoyed being able to bring him along. Splashing around in the pool revived me after long Hades hot and humid days at the Illinois State Fair. It was quiet even though the hotel seemed to be close to full, and the location is right off the highway convenient, and only a ten/fifteen minute drive if that from downtown. There were a few things: sliding doors would eliminate the struggle with the luggage cart. The breakfast hours could (and should) be extended beyond 8:30(!). The sink in my room drained verrrry slowly. The tub faucet and the toilet both wiggled a lot. Overall, an enjoyable stay, and I will put it at the top of my list next time I visit Springfield.

• Melissa (10/5): Enjoyable stay. - Stayed 1 night for the state fair concert. The location was great, right off the freeway, quick drive to the fairgrounds. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast is only 6:30am-8:30am which is not a lot of time so we didn’t get to partake in that. The staff was friendly and helpful. The building you can tell is on the older side but was just what we needed for a single night stay.

• adventoring (8/5): First impressions don't always tell the story. - For full disclosure, the only reason we chose this hotel was because we wanted to use the small amount of points we had so our expectations were low. When we arrived, our low expectations were met because it didn't look well maintained on the outside and while waiting to check in, someone who apparently had just checked in was at the desk reporting some kind of problem (we think they found a bug in their room). Now having said all of that, we checked in and went to our room before unloading anything and found our room to be spacious and clean and well maintained. We decided to stay and had a great night sleep after a great dinner recommendation from the front desk attendant. So, we would stay here again if we're in the area and looking for something clean and simple.

Relatively clean and despite someone on our floor ignoring the non-smoking rule, we were pleasantly surprised that our room was fine and the vent system quickly resolved the smell in the hall. Breakfast was limited, so plan to go elsewhere if variety or dietary limitations are important. The bed was comfortable enough for a decent night's sleep.

Even had the breakfast area been fully stocked, the offerings were meager and inadequate to be considered an “amenity“. There was a full hour left to go during breakfast hours, yet over half of the offerings were completely depleted, there was a pancake machine but no syrup or anything to put on the pancakes, This is just a couple of examples. I think you should either upgrade your breakfast substantially, or get rid of it all together. On a positive note, the room was clean, the staff was friendly and engaging, it wouldn’t take a lot more time and investment to make the overall experience thereextremely good.

• Michal (3/5): Dissapointing - Large rooms, large beds Warning: BED BUGS! Staff very unfriendly, verging on rude. Accidentally left medication in mini fridge, receptionist behaved as though she was doing me a big favour retrieving it. Didn’t show up and was made to feel guilty for having the gall to ask if she could check whether it was still there.
