Guest Reviews

- starwyo (10/5): Great little stay - This is the first BW we have stayed in that didn't have an elevator! Still it was a great location and met my criteria of clean, quiet, comfortable with good areas to walk our dog. Our pet room was on the second floor, nice 2 Queen space at the top of the stairs. Everything worked well, bed linens and towels were fine. Breakfast was okay, standard hot and cold items not large selection but adequate including fresh fruit and yogurt. We are BW rewards members and get a small discount. Good restaurants in town for dinner. Saw a little deer in the trees behind the hotel early morning.
One night stay on a cross country trip.
Easy and beautiful walkable town. Only one patch of grass beside the hotel but nice hillside. Great off leash dogpark close to the hotel and easily walkable. It has a good size section for small dogs and a great larger section with hillside and trees for large dogs. People and dogs were friendly the two visits we made. Well maintained.

- richardmI3425PM (10/5): Good stay - The night clearly that checked us in was great, thanks again. We stayed the night of 21 st she worked hard to put us in a great room. Might want to check the tv it’s stuck on one channel
- jaygA7112EM (10/5): Excellent in every way - For a few days the Doggie rent was good.
One night it would be too high.
- 891briannes (10/5): Clean - Needed a night to stay while traveling west. This hotel was clean and I felt safe. My family enjoyed breakfast offered before we continued our travels. Would recommend.
- Stephanie (8/5): - Very clean, lots of room for all of us
- jeancF4026VO (10/5): My favorite hotel - Everything in this hotel is fabulous. From the cleanliness, to the employees.
- brianfP7124RJ (10/5): Vacation and Business Traveling - Nice staff all around. Clean. The pub was fun after a long day. Convient location with services nearby.
- Paulette (6/5): Our stay was fine it sure was pretty there - No elevator, difficult to climb the stairs for the elderly
- Randall (8/5): Clean and quiet. - Toilet would not quit running, which required lid to be removed with every use.

- Willem (9/5): - It was comfortable and clean
- njdbox (10/5): Family friendly motel with good rates - Great little motel with a family friendly atmosphere, nice rooms, really good breakfast and good rates. Close to downtown and with views of the hills.
- Debbie (10/5): Perfect - Everything Nothing

- Mopar05 (10/5): Nice hotel - Excellent hotel. Room was very clean. Breakfast buffet was very good. Hotel also has a small bar that serves beer, wine and pizza.
- U3388ADdank (10/5): Great value; definitely recommend - Our stay was great. The room was quiet and clean. All staff were very friendly. Definitely a great value. We were looking for a hotel with an exterior entrance to the room so this was perfect.
- Y404UAelizabethh (10/5): Great value and very clean and comfortable rooms. - Welcoming and friendly staff. Very clean rooms and a great breakfast with nice variety. Great location too and the property is well maintained. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
- Coastal637090 (8/5): Was good except for having to hang clothes on the shower rod - Wish the Kleenex were full size! The person traveling with a handicapped person has no place to hang their clothes!! Not everyone handicapped is in a wheelchair nor the ones with them!
- Denis (8/5): - Thanks, it is a nice place.
- James (7/5): -
- juliemO3605XI (10/5): Great clean hotel! - Excellent place to stay! Super clean rooms!!! And I am extremely picky on cleanliness! Quiet rooms, great location to gas station and restaurant; has a bar onsite that also serves pizza. Staff was all very helpful from housekeepers to desk services. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it. Down side was no indoor pool but didn’t affect our stay at all.
- schmud44 (6/5): Ok - It was a typical Best Western in need of updates. The people who worked here were very nice and the bar tender Kennith was great.
- Nick (8/5): - Location No elevator
- Keith (4/5): -
- Phsmsu (10/5): A Good Best Western stay - This is our 4th Best Western Stay on our trip. The room rates among the best with comfortable chair, bed, good desk for computer use. We are not a fan of Best Western thin towels but the shower in this place with sliding doors was excellent. There is no elevator in this building which was OK for us but might not be for others. The breakfast is a standard Best Western but no English muffin choice. This was also our most expensive stay, maybe because of Indigenous Day weekend or just Spearfish location.

- 236patj (10/5): Great stay! - The location of this hotel was great - close (but not too close) to the interstate as well as being close to the downtown area.
The room was quite spacious and comfortable. And we liked the fact that we could park right outside the door, making it easier to get our 'stuff' in and out of the room.
- Jacob (10/5): - Pet friendly and very accommodating. Front staff were great!
- cbb1949 (10/5): Great stay - The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was very adequate also. Would highly recommend. Spearfish a delightful town.
- kaylaaH3474UQ (10/5): Excellent Hotel Albeit Pricey - Great location, walking distance to downtown Spearfish. Family restaurant next door open 6 am-10 pm, serving breakfast all day. Beautiful view outside hotel of Black Hills. Friendly staff — especially the sweet lady running the continental breakfast weekdays! Good housekeeping too. Pet friendly is a huge bonus. Only problem was price — very very very expensive. Could’ve stayed in Hawaii or Laguna Beach for two weeks at same price ($3,200)…
- Richard (8/5): - Good
- O8122JGfrankd (10/5): One of the better places to stay in the area - Check in was very easy and welcoming. Nice that there was a happy hour to socialize with other guests. Rooms were clean and as advertised.
Of special note, was Rhonda the breakfast server. She was extremely attentive and ensured that everyone was taken care of. Her friendly cheerful attitude was very positive.
- Robert (10/5): - Located in a quiet area, nice sports lounge on site. Several restaurants within easy walking distance.
- JASON (10/5): - Hotel is conveniently located near the Main Street district & with quick access to I-90. There's an in-house restaurant & bar. The room was comfortable & everything went smoothly with my stay.
- Glennys (10/5): - Nice place.
- NHUNGA (8/5): - Staffs were good especialy at breakfast.
The exterior of the hotel look dated and dark at night.
The sinks is outside of the toilet.
- James (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay - nice refreshed property.
- Drew (9/5): Clean, quick, and Convenient - Perfect location. Easy walk to downtown. Easy, quick access off of the interstate. Cafe right next door. Lounge. Shower heads are terrible. Pool is outdoors and not accessible during fall and winter months. The manager during the day was a bit brash. However, he was thorough.

- factorladie (10/5): Best of the Best - Excellent customer service from all the staff. When we checked in the o ly room available with 2 queen beds was on the second floor. Due to health reasons, we needed a lower floor. We agreed to the 2nd floor anyway. The ne t day, they had a room available on the 1st floor and the staff volunteered to carry all our bags downstairs for us and stored them securely in the back room by the front deck. When the downstairs room was ready, they carried our bags to the new room. When we returned from sightseeing, all we had to do was collect the new keys and enter our room. Everyone on desk duty was kind and very helpful. Our room was in immaculate condition. The continental breakfast was top notch. Even the young lady who kept watch on the food was very helpful and friendly. She kept the food trays filled at all times as well as the fruit bowl. Tables were clean as was the entire dining room. Check in and Check out service was excellent! I would recommend this hotel 1000%! I can't just praise one employee because everyone was exceptionally outstanding! If in the area again, this is where we will stay
- lindaeT6667RL (10/5): Highly recommend staying at this hotel - Would highly recommend this hotel. Room was clean, location is close to I90 - great for traveling and front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. We would like to give a shout out to Jenna at the front desk, when we arrived. She was so very friendly, accommodating, helpful, kind and went out of her way to make sure we had a positive experience. She changed our room from a second floor room, to a first floor room, which made it easier with a pet. Great hotel and staff.

- 534denisb (10/5): Great dependable service for traveling enjoyment - It was a very clean and updated motel. Staff was relaxed, helpful, and friendly. Breakfast was very good. We stayed at other competing chain’s motels and our friends and we thought this was the best motel we stayed in. Thank you.
- Sherri (10/5): We would stay again - It was older but clean and was a large room
- amandaoS2348CF (10/5): Absolutely wonderful - Love this Best Western Black Hills.
The staff is absolutely wonderful.
Robyn is the best. The whole staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have what you need.
- stacybM6033PM (10/5): A grreat place to stay!!!! - We had stayed here more than once, we love the convenience of being able to park, right outside of your door. It makes loading and unloading of luggage quick and easy. Both of the ladies, at the desk, who checked us in and out, were very courteous.
- Peter (5/5): Disappointing first stay in a Best Western. Won’t make that mistake again! - Not much. It feels old and tired. All carpets are dark and worn. Lighting is dull. It was poor value. Room was small and old for the high price.
- Bonnie (10/5): - suggestion...think no sugar yogurt.
- Christine A (10/5): - Clean room and staff was great
- Tamara (10/5): Good option for privacy - The location is convenient and fairly quiet. The room was clean and spacious. The indoor and outdoor doors made it especially easy to take our dogs out and to load/unload. The bed is very firm and the pillows are quite small and fluffy.
- Suzanne (10/5): - The rooms were updated and clean. The hallways could use some updating, but the place was clean and quiet.
- robert (10/5): - Older property that is in top notch condition. Has exterior doors for easy access to your vehicle. Close to highway and downtown Spearfish.
- 994justint (10/5): Will definitely stay again - Clean rooms. Pet friendly without smelling like a typical pet room. Wonderful complimentary breakfast. Staff was friendly. Love the direct access to your vehicle (just outside your door when on the first floor). Close to downtown, entertainment and eating in general. Beautiful city. Easy access to the interstate. Will definitely stay again.
- Terry (8/5): - Perfectly adequate. No more, no less.
- barryjS6722WP (10/5): Sunday night stay on the way home from Glacier National Park - Excellent facility. Handy, clean, and nice. Good food close by and very easy to find and convenient to use! Barry was closed Sunday night, but we didn't need it then!
- RetiredTravelerTN (6/5): Adequate - The Best Western Black Hills Lodge in Spearfish was acceptable for a night's lodging, but our next night's stay at the Best Western Plus in Rapid City for the same price was much nicer. In hindsight, I wish we had stayed both nights at the Rapid City hotel.
The Spearfish hotel provided a clean room, a good sleep, and breakfast room food options the next morning. We liked the sink vanity outside the bathroom so that one of us could shave or apply makeup while the other was bathing. We were glad that we had quiet neighbors on the other side of the connecting room door. The best thing about it was the ease of unloading at the room door to the parking lot.
- O7817JMdeang (10/5): 2025 golf - This is our go to place in the hills. Bill and all of his employees are helpful, professional, and accommodating. The rooms are fantastic
- C5028SQkareng (10/5): BW - Spearfish SD - Awesome stay albeit too short - comfortable bed, clean and quiet. First choice whenever on Spearfish, my favorite town in South Dakota
- Jane (8/5): Great hotel . Clean. Friendly staff - Great rooms and clean bathroom . Lovely bar in reception area with great staff No lift to the first floor
- Shawn (4/5): Spiders - Spiders were in the room.
- Tonda (10/5): - The beds were great. Pool nice during summer season. Staff friendly and helpful.
- Donald (9/5): Great location, friendly staff, great breakfast - Breakfast was awesome especially the home made burritos! Nice bar staff and good draft selection. the price
- donaldd132 (10/5): Awesome location exceptional and friendly staff - Great location for touring the South Dakota region and black hills. Plenty of good restaurants nearby, great breakfast and great staff.
- William (10/5): Quiet stay comfortable beds great staff - Close to highway and town
- Yelle (9/5): - Location close to the interstate and nice restaurant next door. Higher price for older facility
- brian (7/5): It was just ok - Breakfast ok, Cleanliness, bar hopeless only wine and beer
- Wilfried (8/5): - Nothing
- Steffen (8/5): Very good -
- Penny (10/5): - Older property, but very well maintained. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable — perfect for a restful stay. I appreciated the outside entrance for easy access and a bit more privacy. Breakfast was included and a nice bonus to start the day. Great value for a peaceful and well-cared-for place
- Sylvanus (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable and clean - I was vey pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room at this hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. My only complaint was we were on the second floor and there is no elevator and our luggage is very heavy to carry up the stairs.
- Eileen (10/5): - Very nice Staff was very nice and helpful. Stayed on first floor. I had an assigned parking space right outside my door. So easy to bring things in from the car. Would definitely stay there again.
- S8669FQmikep (10/5): - This is my go to when traveling for work. Great place. Also enjoy having a nice bar right there. Decent breakfast. Nice and clean. Great staff!
- Greg (8/5): - The location is great given that it is inly a few blocks feom the downtown area. The rooms are big which is nice
- Ringwelski (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joshua (8/5): Very good -
- Christina (5/5): Passable - Breakfast had a lot of options, pool area was very clean and nice. Our room was on the second floor, we weren't aware that there wasn't an elevator so we had to haul 6 people's worth of stuff up the stairs. The staff were aware we were coming, but didn't have our room stocked with extra towels or blankets and pillows. When we asked the front desk for extras, they became upset and stated that the staff was told to do it and now they were needing to write a note because they didn't. Our room was okay, but the carpets are disgusting in the room and hallway. It's the type of hotel where I had to double check for bed bugs because our sheets had yellow stains on them. We were only there to sleep for the night so it was fine and close to the roads we needed to get on the next day. The restaurant next door has great food!
- Cynthia (10/5): Close to Downtown Spearfish - The location was excellent. It was right off the I-90 ramp near downtown Spearfish. We were able to walk to restaurants and stores. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was exceptional. There was complimentary fruit infused water in the lobby all day and complimentary breakfast in the morning. Nothing
- S3473OMchadh (10/5): Relaxing and great - Love the room because the i can go right to my vehicle from the room. The quietness is awesome too. The bed was very soft and the pillows great. Love the shower
- Cynthia (10/5): Close to Downtown Spearfish - The front desk girl was awesome! I had to bother her several times for various reasons and she was always very nice in a real way. The hotel was located right in downtown Spearfish. It was very walkable and close to restaurants, coffee, breweries and shops. Nothing
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Kari (8/5): Very good - Close to the Interstate, but no traffic noise. Loved the dual door with the entrance outside and an entrance into the hall of the hotel. The breakfast area was small and seemed to be busting at the seams. We waited for someone to leave before staking claim on a spot. The poor staff member seemed to be working the front desk as well as maintaing the breakfast space.
- Kate (8/5): Pleasant spot nice bar (pricey food) - Great price and lovely walk around the adjacent golf course. A way out of town.
Great if you are there to play golf( hotel is on the course)
- 463cynh (10/5): Pleasant and clean. - This comfy and welcoming lodge did not disappoint. Our front desk receptionist was lovely and polite. The room was large and quite clean. And the outdoor pool was crystal clear and delightful. For an overnight stay, it was perfect!
- Dana (8/5): We had a relaxing stay at the Best Western Black Hills Lodge. - This hotel room had two doors: one to the outside of the building and one to the inside. The outside door made it easy to access luggage and other supplies from the car. Location right off the interstate made it easily accessible. NA
- Gabe (4/5): - The beds were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on.
- Lovemytravels72 (10/5): A wonderful visit to South Dakota, Best Western Spearfish. - I love Best Western spearfish SD Always so kind and do their very best to give you the very best service. One particular woman stood out in my last visit. Brenna was both bartender and then guest services. She was always helpful, always cheerful, and I truly enjoyed visiting with her as she had time. Five stars for Brenna!
- Glenda (10/5): Trip - It was a nice place had a little bar with a very nice bartender
- Paul (6/5): OK accommodation, but a little tired - Good location in spearfish with pool. The corridors were looking very tired.
- Karlyn (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were very helpful and friendly. Long hallway! Lol -it seemed to get longer every day.
- Denise (7/5): Good - Great location Price
- Ashley (10/5): - Great place to stay when visiting the black hills. Close to downtown Spearfish and the national forest.
