Guest Reviews
- Kathleen (8/5): -
- Amy (8/5): We enjoyed our stay, loved the freedom passes - Breakfast was great- wish it opened before 7am however with needing to be ready and out to the feis ready to dance by 8:15 It was great! Just bfast being earlier
- Thomas (6/5): Decent 1-night stay at a rustic no glitz hotel. What I expected. - In the middle of Waterville, close to everything, breakfast had home made dishes. Had a good rustic feel. Less expensive than all but one lodging option in Waterville. Outdated and a little tired. I had to put the shower curtain on the shower rod as it had been left on the dresser.
- arthur (7/5): - There was nobody at reception after 10pm and there was a very rowdy group of youth hockey players and their families who were so loud and disrespectful each night until midnight keeping most of us awake. There was no staff to help deal with it.
- William (1/5): -
- Kimberly (2/5): Would never stay again and advise others not to as well. - I’m trying really hard to come up with something good here - I guess my kids lined the board games available for use in the lobby. I honestly do not have time out of my life to spend writing everything that I have to say but let me quickly sum it up:
- Hotel rooms outdated and unimpressive. No mini fridge really stinks. Not enough shampoo (about 2 Tblsp) in the bottle they for you in the shower for me and 2 kids to shower twice. I kept feeling itchy all over in bed and was wondering if there were bed bugs - had a welt or 2 on my arms the next morning but have never had a bed bug experience so idk.
- went to ‘store’ in lobby to get a Diet Coke and chocolate. No chocolate and no Diet Coke. But they did somehow manage to build a Time Machine and zip back to 1957 and stock up on the RC Cola instead.
- went to buy something else at 9:55pm and it was closed. Front desk clerk refused to sell it to me (I think it was water) and when I said I thought they closed at 10pm he said no the desk closed at 10pm but he could close the store whenever he wanted to before that….
- was woken up our first morning by an employee telling us there was a gas leak and we had to evacuate.
- no key just a keypad which I think is a great eco-friendly idea but ours didn’t work half the time and took 3 or 4 tries every time we tried to get in - twice we had to go to the front desk
- Entire hotel was freezing as all doors were open to air out the gas all day
- no hot water eventually and they thoughtfully put us in a hotel next door BUT when i told them th price of our room included breakfast and what were we supposed to do about that he said he had no idea.
I asked if there was any place to get breakfast nearby and they said they had no idea. We drove 25 miles round trip and spent $65 on breakfast to only find out later that a hotel next to us had a free breakfast buffet our hotel could have asked them
If we could join and also there was a restaurant in the ‘town square’ directly behind us that served breakfast.
Yeah.
Won’t be back.
PS: Pretty sure I’m missing something! AND -have not even heard from the hotel.
- Charlotte (3/5): Not good. Will not book there again. - Good location Bad breakfast. No towel service etc unless you get them yourself in the lobby. No fridges in the room.
- Dawne (8/5): Thank you for a wonderful stay! - The staff were so very helpful to all in our party! Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms were clean and comfortable - updating would go a LONG way. But with that said...I loved the location, Freedom Pass, location to all activities. Can't wait to come foe another visit. We don't ski but love the outdoor activities. The restaurant Chop House was wonderful...we loved everything except that it could use a bit of updating.
- Ankur (10/5): -
- Paul (6/5): - Rooms are dated bit clean
- shai (8/5): -
- Lynn (9/5): -
- Justin (5/5): I couldn’t wait to go home just because of the bed. - The staff were nice people. Hotel was a good price but very outdated, especially the beds. I just would have expected something decent and it was awful. The staff were very nice and the location is great. They also don’t let the kids play knee hockey when the hotel is 90% filled up with hockey families so that’s annoying.
- Anna (8/5): The location was very good. But the walls are so thin. You can hear everything. - The location was very good It was very noisy
- Sai Durga Ishwarya (9/5): -
- Kathy (9/5): -
- Earl Edward (10/5): - Wonderful hiking nearby
- Jeremy (10/5): -
- Patti (9/5): -
- Gary (8/5): - Staff was very nice and helpful. Loved the Continental Breakfast in the morning
But I thought the rooms were a little outdated for the price for the stay.
- Joseph (10/5): - Older but well maintained resort facility. Very accommodating staff
- Cheryanne (8/5): - It was clean, quiet and a beautiful area.
- Patrick (8/5): - Could use updating but rooms were clean except for rugs thr
- Karen (5/5): - Location was good. The hotel needs some love. Quality did not match the price.
- Scott (8/5): - The breakfast was nice
- Nalin (10/5): - Great place
- Michele (8/5): The rooms were clean, but you could tell they were getting dated. The bed was very very comfortable, and it was a very p - The Staff was so Nice and very helpful!!😊 No mini fridge in the room🫤
- Laurie (1/5): - It was clean I never thought a 200 a night hotel would have coill spring mattress. Could not check in till 4. No fridge or microwave l. It was awful and my entire body hurts from the coiils digging in my body. It was torturous.
- Yizu (10/5): - Excellent conditions and very nice staff
- Luis (10/5): -
- Lira (9/5): - I love Waterville Valley and I love the pass day that you can do a lot of activities with family and friends
- Mariana (8/5): - Everything was great. The only 4 stars is because the breakfast was very limited and not enough utensils.
- Yevgeniy (8/5): Very good! - Conveniently located in the center of the village. Very clean and quiet. It would be better if the breakfast could be served a little longer, at least until at least 10am.
- Jose (5/5): Passable -
- Jose (5/5): Passable -
- Kimball (8/5): - Close to conference center
- Kimberly (8/5): Very good -
- Jillian (8/5): - Good stay near Waterville. Breakfast was great!
- Ruth (4/5): Silver Fox needs an upgrade or lower price. Very run down. -
- Urfan (5/5): Passable -
- Jamie (1/5): Not the best option for the price paid. - Good variety of breakfast options. The room was on the basement floor directly across from a maintenance closet. The air conditioning unit wasn’t sealed properly so cold air came into the room. The mattress’ on the beds were extremely uncomfortable and hard. Overall the room was very dark. The tub in the bathroom didn’t drain well and the water pressure was bad.
- Eugene (8/5): - Lack of dining facilities in area.
- Steven (10/5): - Excellent place for families who want to go skiing athletic Center access was a nice add-on
- Sonja (7/5): Good - Staff was very friendly. Hotel was adequate and good price. Common areas felt like a bonus. Access to Health Club was a plus. Really wish they put out coffee early before 7:30. Don't understand why that's not possible.
- Jane (8/5): Convenient to mountain. Room was clean and fine. - Great location. Clean, comfortable room. Common areas could use more attention to cleaning. Large youth hockey group and families had taken over common area and were letting their kids run rampant through hotel on Saturday afternoon. Not the staff’s fault, but it was annoying. Hotel was quiet at night. Breakfast was adequate. Easy parking. Front desk employee disappeared for a while (presumably to eat dinner). Had left a “Be back at (time)” sign but was still not there for at least a good 20 minutes after said return time. We needed plastic utensils and finally gave up on trying to find her, after going back multiple times to see if she had returned. Also, unpleasant stale cigarette smell emanating from front desk on the Saturday we arrived. Smell was gone next day when we checked out.
- Justin & Jenn (8/5): - The inn was a bit loud, easy to hear people socializing in the hallways. Property is showing age. Breakfast was solid, staff was friendly. Overall, strong value.
- Eric (8/5): - Was fine
- Robert (2/5): Awful Awful Awful - This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in bar none. First we walk into the room only to find the previous guest's crap stained linens on the floor. Then i thought id grab some soda and popcorn for a snack. Well i didnt because theres no mini fridge or microwave. My wife decided to buy a drink at the front desk. It tasted strange. Then we saw that it was 4 months expired. The shower curtain had years worth of mold on it. I really don't understand how though, because the shower had such little pressure that the curtain wouldn't have gotten wet enough to produce mold. The shower sucked so bad that we actually cleaned up with washcloths in the sink. Long story short, this place is a nightmare.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet, nice facility - It’s a nice, quaint place. The staff was friendly, when they were there. The front desk closes early so there isn’t anyone there to help. I was a bit disappointed that the fireplace in the common area was never on so sitting in the common area was cold.
The bedroom and bathroom were clean but the bed and especially the pillows were very uncomfortable. Bring your own pillows.
Breakfast was delicious. Location to the mountain was great and had shuttle service. I would go back with a little less expectations then I had.
- julie (10/5): - Nice breakfast, nice fireplace and sitting area, clean room.
- Nichole (4/5): - Youth hocky team was there..children running all over.parents were drinking in lobby and 3rd floor until 11p.m
- Ward (8/5): Excellent service, great location - Very well located property right in the heart of Waterville Valley. The shuttle picked us up for skiing and the free breakfast was a nice surprise! The only thing we didn’t like was that the coffee was empty during the time we went to breakfast, and it was refilled but when we came back it was empty again
- Melisa (8/5): Comfortable inn close to the mountain! - Super close to the mountain. Great location. Clean and comfortable.
- S (2/5): - DO NOT STAY HERE. At time of check-in we noticed a group of families setting up to eat in the common area 3 doors away from our room. At the time, I didn't think anything of it as we assumed it was just folks returning from the mountain, sitting down and having some food. When we returned from dinner @ 7:30PM the "group" had metastasized to at least ~25 people, children were running up and down the hall, slamming doors and many of the adults were at this point HEAVILY intoxicated. Alcohol bottles and beer cans were in plain sight. Given the extreme level of noise, I asked the desk manager "Amber" as to what was going on and she seemed dismissive. I asked her to address the situation as we had hoped to be to put our two young children to bed soon, she said she had already asked them more than 1x to quiet down and they had by town ordinance until 10:00PM. She also stated that if I had a problem w/ it I should call the police. The Silver Fox took no responsibility in the welfare of their property or guests. This turned into full blown after party with grown adults who had no regard for any other guests. After 3 hrs. of shouting, profanity and nothing done by the management to curb the situation. I for 1st time ever had to call the police. Most disturbing is that the police officer told me they were called out by other guests the night before for the EXACT same group. The SF allowed these guests to stay in the hotel and repeat the situation. Only ended 1AM, never slept, awful.
- Stephanie (2/5): Decent if you’re desperate for a place to stay. Get something different if you’re looking to relax. - Closeby the waterville valley resort. Access to the indoor pool down the street. Way too many rowdy customers and kids running through the corridors screaming throughout the entire night. Very dusty and limited amenities. Bedding is like cardboard and uncomfortable. Breakfast was also very limited and not much fresh food, even on a popular weekend. Will stay somewhere else next time.
- Angela (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (8/5): Great! - We loved the location and facilities Was unfortunately there with a hockey tournament who had free reign of the entire upstairs and parents were loud, drinking and disruptive after midnight
- Amjad (10/5): - Everything was great. It would have been nice if they improve their shampoo/soap brand. Took a star off for that.
- Joseph (10/5): - Convenient to Waterville Valley skiing. Good food options close by. Nice staff. Good breakfast.
- Alessio (9/5): Superb -
- Kimberly (9/5): Superb -
- Cara (10/5): Perfect place to stay for ski weekend - Perfect place to use as a base for skiing. Took the shuttle to the mountain (10 minutes). Clean and great breakfast. We loved having access to the pool across the street. Would stay again. Only complaint is that the room was super dry at night and too hot.
- Mark (10/5): - Staff was super nice, nice breakfast. Good coffee. Comfortable beds
- Grazielli (9/5): Superb - The breakfast was surprisingly good. The location is awesome. I really recommend it. There was a smell of cigarettes in my room. Someone smoked there. But I don't blame the hotel for it. There was a sign showing it was forbidden to smoke in the room.
- Brian (10/5): Great, clean and affordable! - We booked a last minute small getaway without really knowing where to stay in the area. What a wonderful surprise Waterville Valley was! So many things to do and most with in walking distance. The hotel was definitely older than some of the condos and resorts but was very clean and the room was perfect for our needs. The front desk clerk (Shelia) was fabulous and extremely helpful with a fun personality. You can tell she knows her stuff! She helped us get the adventure pass which was awesome. We were able to kayak, mountain bike and ride the chairlift to the waterfalls all for $15 a day. The breakfast at the Silver fox was outstanding and the lady who makes everything, was wonderful. Best hotel breakfast we've ever had. It was nice to eat out on the deck. We never did utilize the off site pool and got tub, but it looked very nice. The restaurant in the pool building (Coyote) had wonderful food and great service. The highlight of the trip was hiking down Cascade falls and walking back to our room and the fireworks show in the Village Square. What a fun place to eat, shop and hang out. Overall we had a amazing time and will definitely be back! Glad we stumbled across this area, we had so much fun!
- Gladys (8/5): Very good -
- M.s.h. (5/5): Disappointed in this trip. - We have stayed here a number of times in order to use the Freedom Pass for the Athletic Club. The rooms are comfortable and the location is good. Breakfast is ok. Unfortunately this time it was clear that the sheets on the bed had not been changed since the last guest. There were no staff on duty, but we were able to go in the laundry room and find clean sheets and change the beds ourselves. Probably won't be returning to this hotel.
- Mani (10/5): Clean and quiet place for a weekend getaway from Boston - Clean, friendly staff, quiet
- Israel (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (2/5): Very poor - Location was nice and grouped in with a lot of the other hotels and close to everything we needed to go see The beds were so uncomfortable and bouncy and hurt our backs. When you first walk in there is a smell and the parking lot is very bumpy and rough. The bathroom is very tiny and just didn’t feel clean the shower curtain had stains and no mini fridge or microwave just a little coffee maker in the closet area. Also the doors are so loud you can hear every time someone leaves their room. Maid service only available by request.
- Emily (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was fantastic, staff was very nice, and the scenic views were beautiful! The beds were pretty uncomfortable you could feel the box springs underneath, but everything was clean and the linens were comfy.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We did not stay here. We arrived and there were no cars in the parking lot. We went inside and it was well before check in time but we thought we’d check to see if we could go ahead and check in. It was a hard no. The place was very old and outdated. While we were out having lunch we found a place we liked better and stayed there instead.
- Rebecca (4/5): - Outdated and hallway smelled mildewy
- Vijay (8/5): Very good -
- Lorna (9/5): Superb -
- Estela (7/5): Good - Things were ok. But I'm not sure if I would stay there again. I booked a 2 double bed room and when we arrived, we checked in, went to our room and found a King Size bed. That is not what I wanted. I did NOT want to share a bed. But the worst part is that we were not notified of the change! They called the day before to see if we were still coming and never mentioned the change to my reservation. I was not happy. On the second day, the 13th, we came back to a room where the beds were not made or the garbage emptied. One of the morning, there was no decaf coffee. Also, there were fireworks at the town Square that we would of love to have known about.
- Alexandra (4/5): We would not stay there again and were glad it was only for one night - Beautiful area and the lobby was decent. It was nice to have the freedom pass with some additional recreational activities The reception staff was not friendly or accommodating. We were given a room right by the elevator on the lower level and could hear dinging until 10pm. The beds were uncomfortable and the room was not very clean (a few bugs on the walls and some mold in the bathroom shower, also the tissues were all bunch up inside the tissue box.) Breakfast was very mediocre. No egg options without cheese or dairy, no gluten-free bread options, fake maple syrup, packaged waffles, no fresh fruit offered. Mostly stale pastries.
- Antonio (10/5): - Very safe ad frendl
- Corey (4/5): - I never leave reviews but felt it was necessary so others don’t make the same mistake we did. Writing to share our recent experience at the Silver Fox Inn in New Hampshire, which we booked through Expedia.
While we were drawn to the charming location and description online, our in-person experience was quite different. The property felt very dated and had an ambiance reminiscent of a funeral home. Additionally, there was a musty odor throughout, and we found the room to be less than clean.
Moreover, the breakfast included with our stay was disappointing and did not meet our expectations.
Although the location was convenient, we feel misled by the online representation of the property and once we realized what we were in for we couldn’t book anywhere else.
- Poojitha (9/5): Superb -
- Dale (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jayrj D (10/5): Very good hotel - The hotel is situated in a small skiing village. Rooms were very nice and clean. Included most of the amenities, toiletries, iron, tv, radio, AC, desk.
- Seth (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Antonio (10/5): Exceptional - quiet end room
- Shannon (7/5): Good - Breakfast was not served promptly at the time scheduled. There was no staff on duty which we had never experienced.
- Arlene (8/5): Quiet and quaint location - Nice quaint quiet location. Woman at desk very welcoming and efficient.
Room was clean and comfortable.
Was told breakfast served 7–9 - woman as desk very positive and enthusiastic about breakfast service- waited this morning until 0730 - no food service or any one to ask about breakfast- needed to get on with my trip left without breakfast! I had looked forward to the breakfast based on what I was told on check in!
Left my room key at the unoccupied desk and left. Maybe next time.
- VICKI (4/5): - If you are looking for a comfortable mights sleep after a day of hiking or skiing, DO NOT stay here! I will start by saying the area where the hotel is located is beautiful and the lobby area was lovely and cozy. We never met any of the staff during our stay as we didnt check in until 12AM, and there was no one at the desk when we checked out at 11 AM. Breakfast is done very early at 9 AM. We felt that is too early for breakfast to be done and as we didnt get to sleep until 1 am we missed it. The room was large, clean, but outdated and had no mini fridge for the leftovers we had so we had to discard them. Our biggest issue were the beds. When I say they were the cheapest, most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in I'm not exaggerating. It felt like a think layer of cardboard over metal springs. When I first laid down I couldnt believe how uncomfortable it was. I could feel metal springs poking me all over my body. The floor would have been more comfortable! We tossed and turned all night and got a horrible sleep and woke up exhausted, sore snd in pain. For $200 a night, it's not worth it to stay here! Please purchase new mattresses! At the very least if you are too cheap to do that, buy a thick, memory foam mattress topper!
- PAMELA (10/5): - They never followed through to get the TV working properly. Rooms could use some updating. Breakfast was delicious.
- Andrea (9/5): Perfect for our purposes - We were in town for a wedding and the location was perfect. The Inn was clan and comfortable. Breakfast was decent- a nice variety. It was a bit dated. Could use some updating.
Walls were thin. Thankfully our neighbors were not night owls.
- muriel (10/5): - Its setting is in a beautiful location with surrounding mountains. It has a rustic cabin feel with a welcoming decor. It does feel like a B&B. There are a few areas where you can relax and play games, do puzzles or read. They even have a books available. There was a hot breakfast, but my husband said there were no heated chafing trays to keep things warm.. we didnt eat there. They had limited vending machines with no ginger ale available. There was a large refrigerator in the vending room and a washer and dryer available to use. It was very clean and the staff was very accomodating and friendly.
- Dara (10/5): Wonderful!!! - Everything!! The location is perfect! The staff is so friendly! The rooms are great!! The value! The views!
- Celia (10/5): - Great spot
- Edward (8/5): - Great location in WV. Every where was walkable
- Ludmilla (8/5): Very good stay in a great location. - Great location, very clean and has an outstanding breakfast (the best one we have had so far during our trips). The lady who prepares it is amazing. A little outdated but still good.
- Thomas (10/5): - Beautiful area ,very well maintained facility
- Dona (2/5): - Was mis advertised on location was actually 1 hour mountain driving from the wedding not 5 minutes.wouldnt refund $
- R9304KEamyr (2/5): Beware-this hotel has bedbugs - My room had bedbugs. I discovered this late at night and had to switch rooms. The staff was not very communicative or apologetic about the situation despite it being very clear that there was a problem as I caught a bedbug and gave it to them. I had to follow up myself to ask if the new room had been inspected, and I never received any further communication from the hotel.
- Joshua (10/5): Clean and friendly. - Amazing staff clean room. Older design but very clean and helpful. Highly recommended.
- Shayan (4/5): Disappointing -
