- FuzzyBeaver (10/5): Nice hotel - The rooms are quite large and have great amenities. We were facing a small street at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet. The staff everywhere in the hote are excellent. The included breakfasts are quite good with a broad selection of food items plus a la carte options. Decent location. Howerver we did find that Bolt/Uber cars would not pickup / dropoff in front of the hotel. It seems traffic is limited to taxis and similar vehicles. We just set the pickup/dropoff location to the street behind the hotel which is a one minute walk.

The hotel is in a great location, right on the square, although it was not good weather it was still full of life in the square and many restaurants surrounding the area. The hotel itself was tasteful, cozy and calm. All the staff we came across were helpful and happy to help. Breakfast was delicious with many different options - buffet or cooked. We ate in the attached restaurant which was delicious and Carmona was so very attentive. The room was hilarious as the bathroom was glass - not for everyone - but had a curtain. It was so comfortable and the pillows were exceptionally comfortable. We had a swim in the very small pool, but it was empty and good enough to relax in.
- susanhO8756QL (10/5): Not sure it gets better than this! - Luxury, courtesy and beauty in this grand traditional hotel just steps away from the River Tagus. Amazing breakfast buffet beautifully laid out with gracious table service. They accommodated our early arrival and made us feel very much at home. Bottled water provided daily and a housekeeping supervisor came to check on us. We stayed two nights before setting out on a longer trip; it was a great place to pause and adjust. Easy walking to our favorite places helped.

My little one had a splash in the pool. Finally....the location of the hotel. Right in the middle of everything. Short walk to Alfama or take the tram that is right outside the hotel to Belem. You also get the tuk-tuks in case you want one.
- 880louisam (10/5): Beautiful Hotel in Perfect Location - This is the perfect hotel from which to see all of Lisbon! The Pousada de Lisboa is a gorgeous hotel right on the waterfront with beautiful rooms, amazing staff and an even better breakfast! This is our first time in Lisbon so we had no idea what to expect. When we arrived, the staff was nice enough to let us check in at 8am so we dropped our bags and found out how prefect this location is to see all the historic parts of Lisbon and to access all the shopping and restaurants. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lisbon!

- SamPwl (10/5): Location, luxury and great Staff. - We’re still here, staying on the second floor ! Fantastic hotel, luxurious, superb helpful and friendly staff. We arrived on Friday and I wasn’t sure at first, the hotel has no big name sign anywhere, but once inside it was lovely. The location is so good, we’d never been to Lisbon so didn’t know which area to book, we got lucky, this hotel is really a few minutes walk to the centre and next to the harbour and the Arc which is start of shopping and restaurant areas but quiet inside. The interiors are grand and beautifully furnished and the breakfast is really good quality. We’ll come again.
- Jumbatronic (8/5): Beautiful Classic Hotel in Perfect Location - The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect! It's right in front of the Praça do Comércio and Arco da Rua Augusta so and close to the water and Alfama area. Everything is walkable and tons of options of food and shopping. The hotel itself is beautiful. You can tell it's an older building but the interiors are classy and luxurious. It's also very clean and quiet. I stayed in the loft like room and it was very spacious for one person. The bed was one of THE MOST comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in and it was so hard to get up in the morning. The bathroom was big and very clean. Shower pressure was great. The only negatives I have are: 1) the stairs in the loft room but it's my fault for choosing it. It was hard to get my suitcase up to the bedroom. If you're looking at that room and not strong enough to get some luggage up a flight of stairs, consider getting a different room. 2) The mini fridge could have been a bit bigger. Could not fit the bottle of wine I got for my last night. 3) When using the iron, it left some kind of sticky dark stain on one of my shirts that I am having a hard time removing. Please considering checking the bottom of the irons before lending them to guests. Aside from these things, the stay was great. Will definitely be suggesting this to friends who visit Lisboa.
- PeterB204 (8/5): Great location, lovely hotel, but expensive - We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our tour round Portugal and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is superbly located, the staff are exellent and it is as well-appointed as you'd expect a small 5 star hotel to be. There is comfortable guest lounge with free tea and sparkling wine. However, our room was not generous by any means and quite dark, despite the fact that I paid for an upgrade. I know Lisbon is expensive, but I simply felt that it was not value for money
- Tour15658542730 (10/5): Quaint Property in excellent walkable location. - Hotel is clean and upscale, located in a great spot with excellent staff. We had a great 5 day visit and they booked several meals and excursions for us. Breakfast and bar staff were very attentive and the front desk staff anticipated our needs and found us great things to do during our first stay in Portugal, even securing us a last minute hair appt on what seemed to be the busiest time of the year in Lisbon. Room was nice, linens and towels were good, - AC was excellent, Bed was pretty hard but other than that pretty much everything was perfect.

The breakfast was delicious with plenty of variety to start the day right. Our room was very nice, spacious. The hotel is in an excellent position close to everything, which made it easy to get around. The only small issue was that the bed was a bit too firm for us, but as soon as we mentioned it, the staff immediately added a mattress topper which made all the difference — such great service! We really appreciated how quickly and kindly they responded. Overall, an excellent experience and we’d definitely stay again!

- 944scoobyd (10/5): Exclusive and discreet. Simply wonderful. - It's a hotel where you feel like you are the only ones staying there. Quiet and understated bit to the highest standards and quality. Staff are attentive and discreet. Restaurant serves the best steak available in the world but affordable options too. Rooms are quiet and fully equipped. Luxury toiletries, bathrobes, everything needed for a luxury stay and right in the heart of town. Breakfast is the very best thing. We've stayed at hundreds of hotels and this is among the very best.
- JohnUK (10/5): Great hotel let down by bar and restaurant. - Just back from a three night stay. The hotel is fantastically located, just 25 minutes by taxi from the airport. The receptionist and concierge were a delight and our room very comfortable. Breakfast was good with a nice selection. I used the little pool daily- it’s just off the gym in the 3rd floor and has a cool outside seating area accessed by a circular stair. Small and bijou is how I’d describe it. Housekeeping is excellent and attention to detail very good. The only thing I would improve is the staff in the bar/ restaurant who were certainly not up to the standard of others in the hotel. In fact I found them brusque and unfriendly. When you’re paying these prices you expect excellent service. The food, however, was good quality.

- AlcoholProf (10/5): Amazing Stay..Will Go Back..Happy We Stayed Twice - Booked the hotel through Virtuoso so got the free breakfast and fortunate to get the upgrade on the first stay. The hotel is in the center of everything...everything within 15 minutes of it. It has classical elegance and the most amazing staff including Daniela at reception. The breakfast was terrific in the inside courtyard and the food was wonderful. Briefly went up to Porto and was happy knowing that we were returning to this hotel for two more nights. Would definitely stay again!

- stropertre (6/5): They Don't Get it! Bad Service followed by Barely Mediocre Service - The Pousada offers an enviable location right on the Praca do Comercio. Unfortunately, the service we received at the bar was very disappointing. We ordered drinks, and waited and waited and waited for two very simple drinks (a port and tonic and a gin and tonic). The drinks arrived without the nibbles which were delivered to every other table. We asked for them and were assured they would arrive shortly, but they never did. While the view of the Praca do Comercio was terrific, we were twice interrupted by vendors. One of the vendors greeted our neglectful server, and they seemed to be friends. Did they have an arrangement by which the patrons would be subjected to unwanted solicitations? When we finished our drinks, we waited and waited and waited until I fetched another server who presented me with a bill suggesting a 20% tip! Not only was the service awful, a 20% suggested tip is far beyond what is customary in Lisbon, even at "luxury" establishments. I tipped one euro and regretted doing so. The public spaces in the hotel are palatial: marble statues and thick red carpets. We got good service from a bellman when we had trouble getting a cab. The "continental breakfast" was incredibly bountiful and varied. It was served in a several story atrium that was quite picturesque. We were celebrating a milestone birthday and received an upgrade. This hotel has potential. But bad service (and mediocre service) is memorable. Even the two desk attendants, while not rude, seemed to be going through the motions. They did not smile or convey any sense of enthusiasm about the hotel or serving guests. The servers in the breakfast room, while certainly competent, did not convey any sense of warmth. Most of the staff seemed to view the guests as a nuisance that had to be tolerated. We stayed at the nearby Corpo Santo during the first portion of our trip. The setting and the location are not as favorable as the Pousada Lisboa. But the service was the best we have ever experienced. When we are next in Lisbon, we will choose the hotel with the best service (hint: its NOT the Pousada Lisboa).

We had a Premium Room The bathroom is a glass box in the middle of the room screened by a curtain. That makes the room feel small. There is no way to stop water splashing out of the shower when using it, and it flowed out of the bathroom into the room itself. That is really poor design. The shower is over a bath with no sliding glass screen to cover the entry point. No kettle for making a cup of tea or coffee. That would seem to be a basic facility. As others have said the swimming pool is small with no changing facilities. We had friends staying nearby in good hotels at a fraction of the cost. And I would suggest that is a better option. There is no particular benefit from its location compared to other hotels as the tourist area is relatively small and compact and everything is in walking distance. If value for money is a criteria I would suggest using a different hotel and using the saving in cost to spend on experiences in Lisbon where most tourist things are relatively expensive.

Fabulous location within walking distance of great restaurants, coffee shops and of course the river, which we could see from our window. The hotel were able to accommodate our request to have our two rooms next door to each other, as we were travelling as a family of 5. We were really grateful for this and any other small issues we had were handled exceptionally well by the team. The building is beautiful and we made good use of the swimming pool. It is small but does the job. Our rooms were pristine and checked in on multiple times a day. We did not manage to eat in the restaurant but my husband and son had a few drinks at the bar and commented on the impeccable service. We were even given a small gift of a traditional Portuguese tile upon our departure. All in all, we would throughly recommend staying here.

- 925altav (6/5): Great location, pity about the basic room - This is no doubt a very beautiful and historic building filled with artworks and the very central situation is its strongest draw card. And, still on the plus side, the staff were friendly. What was a great disappointment was my room. Not at all what one would expect from a very expensive luxury hotel. (Prior to my stay here I stayed in very nice hotels in Budapest and Prague, where, even though they were much less expensive, the rooms were fabulous and very welcoming, with great amenities, comfortable beds and storage space.) My room was so very basic, with thin walls, hardly any storage space, no USB ports, a very basic coffee machine (and a kettle and tea bags I only received on request, as if it is not usually expected) a slippery shower (yes I did receive anti slip mats on request), no desk to speak of as all the room was taken up by the kettle and cups for tea making. It was just not a very welcoming room. It felt as if whoever designed this hotel (from whatever it was before) tried to squeeze in as many as possible rooms (to the point of having the shower right next to your bed, partitioned by a glass wall and curtain), all to maximize profit. That is a shame as it could have been so much more, such as comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.

The Receptionist are amazing and will go out of their way to ensure you are happy and that you have everything you need at all time. They put a lot of time into making our stay very special. Everything from scheduling flights, having amenities brought to our room, making dinner suggestions and reservations for us and giving us guidance the entire time we were there. The Receptionist went as far as to give us great suggestions and recommendations for our say in Algarve. When we return to Lisbon, we will continue to stay at this hotel. It is well worth it and you will be very impressed with the restaurants and service.

Rooms are large and comfortable, breakfast buffet is very good with a large assortment of options. I will definitely stay here again!

- franfran2021 (8/5): A Very Enjoyable Hotel - It's a gorgeous, historic hotel, perfectly located on the main square near the water. Tons of restaurants, cafes, shops and historic sights are within easy walking distance -- or you can hire a taxi from the taxi stand on the square or try Lisbon's public transit system (although the staff didn't seem to actually know any of the trolley car routes). Our room was large and comfortable, and we enjoyed just exploring the Pousada which has a colorful history, even once a police headquarters. Art and collectibles are scattered throughout the hotel. Their indoor pool is nice but a bit hard to find. In fact, we walked right past the entire hotel initially because the signage is a little-too-tastefully set back from the street. Every afternoon, the tea and cookies were great!

Wonderful breakfast - We booked this wonderful hotel for a 4-night stay and loved its perfectly central location within Commercial Plaza in Baixa, across the Tagus River and a short walk to Chiado, Alfama, Pink Street, etc. A short walk takes you to Rua Augusta, a gorgeous pedestrian street lined with shops and restaurants. The hotel serves a great daily breakfast with plenty of buffet options and made-to-order items. Plus, late-night owls will appreciate the drinks, coffee, and teas available. Highly recommend for a convenient and comfortable stay in Lisbon.

The rooms are lovely, and the service's excellent. We ended up having lunch twice at the RIB restaurant, with delicious food, and excellent service. A special shout-out to Alex, our server on both occasions, who was extremely helpful, particularly for the second lunch, when we were pressed for time.

- drjilla (6/5): Oulier opinion - Okay, I know I’m an outlier on this hotel, most people loved it. There were a few things I liked. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely great, with interesting choices as well as all the standards. It took place in a lovely room, and we enjoyed slow mornings there. The public rooms are nice. For me, many things didn’t work at all. The room was not good. It was small, I believe it was the second level up, after an upgrade for hotel membership. Be aware that at least in some of the rooms, the bathroom is a space carved out with glass paneling that does not provide complete enclosure (door not set in a frame), so there is no soundproofing, you’ll need to be very comfortable with your roommate in this room since privacy isn’t great. There is a curtain that you can use to screen off the bathroom from the sleeping area. I’m not a big fan of that trend. Not only that, but the soundproofing between rooms is also bad, I heard every word of my neighbors conversations and I can only guess that they heard mine. Fortunately we weren’t all around much at the same time. Since the hotel was already very expensive for what it was, I did not inquire whether there would be a more comfortable upgrade to be had. I always choose hotels with an indoor pool and spa. If that’s important to you, be aware that this one has a very small pool, not big enough for laps, and a small unattended sauna. Many people mentioned loving the location here, and it was one of the things that drew me to the hotel, having never visited Lisbon before and not having an educated opinion about where I might enjoy staying. The draws of the location seem to be the big square it sits on (ok, it’s impressive), the lack of hills (also true but the hills are part of the charm of the city and I would advise staying farther inland and higher up). Finally, the proximity to sights is also mentioned often in the reviews. My impression is that the sights are actually pretty spread out, what you are closest to is a huge tourist-y Main Street of the type that doesn’t appeal to me, with lots of souvenir sellers and tourist restaurants. I’m being frank here in case you don’t really like that kind of ambiance. I notice that the management of the hotel tends to write long responses to reviews. I’d so love it if they just let this stand instead of writing what reads like a defensive rebuttal.

- PTDurham (6/5): Staff good , room good - Location = excellent Check in = very friendly nice young man who spoke clear slow English. We were taken upto our room which was on the 3rd floor. Room = nice size and decor , very clean , unusual layout but it worked fine , large windows with net and blackout curtains. Coffee matching with pods which I could not get to dispense a hot coffee, I called reception and this was replaced straight away, also kettle offered so I could make my own tea. A day later for some unknown reason housekeeping had removed the kettle and larger cups without telling me. Housekeeping = very good throughout my stay. Breakfast= small but a good choice of food (buffet style) with an option to have eggs from a menu, tea/ coffee/ juice served at the table. Staff were very professional and friendly. Blackout = the staff were helpful when asked.. room was pitch black with no emergency lighting although outside of room the emergency exit signs were still lit up. When we asked if there was any food (as we couldn’t get any outside) reception booked up a slot in the RIB restaurant joined on to the hotel. Very minimal choice as expected but my partner who had beef carpaccio ended up ill all night throwing up, the next morning I asked reception if anyone else had reported that they had been ill and they said no, although as kettle had been removed they offered to make a cup of tea , I would have expected the staff to makes notes about being so ill but no interest in taking any details. Overall the hotel is nice staff are nice , hotel expensive. So if it wasn’t for the food poisoning I would say 4 out of 5 But due to being ill 100% from the food as only one of us ate that dish . My overall score is down to a 3

One day, exactly the second day, coming back in the afternoon, the room was not ready yet! This is not acceptable for any hotel but for a five star luxury... I think it's really terrible. But what was even more incredible was that in the following days we didn't receive an apology from the management, not even at checkout!

Walkable to everywhere of interest and if you had a car, there was a temp unloading area in front. “Software” was good but “hardware” was lacking. Service especially at front desk and valet was excellent, breakfast service was ok/good. However the room was not up to standards. We understand that Pousada is a renovated old building which is charming but we still need some basic modern comforts. There is only 1 socket for charging your electronics, none by the bedside. The tap mixers in the bathroom sink and shower didn’t work. At the sink you could only get warm water for 3 seconds, thereafter either scorching hot or cold. In the shower the warm water stays for longer but switches to cold midways. No bathrobes, no kettle in the room and the wardrobe space for hanging your clothes is about 2 foot wide. We were staying for 5 nights and there wasn’t enough room to hang your jackets, rain jackets etc.

The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Breakfasts offered a great variety of cold items and hot foods cooked to order. The bedding was very comfortable. The location of the hotel was perfect for sightseeing and finding nice restaurants within walking distance. We very much enjoyed the setting by the river for early morning walks.
- jerseyman1 (10/5): Great staff, location, comfort - Just spent four nights here in Premium King on third floor. Good room with brilliant view over Praca Commercio and Tagus. Hotel is in a brilliant position with most shopping, sights and restaurants in walking distance, but beware the hills! We really enjoyed our stay. Staff in all aspects of the hotel were excellent, helpful and genuinely friendly. This followed several months of email interaction re airport transfers, restaurant recommendations etc, which were all promptly and efficiently dealt with. Breakfast was a decent buffet choice, with some a la Carte dishes to supplement the scrambled eggs etc on the buffet. We ate on the first night in RIB the steak restaurant attached to the hotel, see separate review, and ends each evening drinking a couple of Ginjha cherry liqueurs aided by some cheerful waiters. For us this was an ideal hotel. Well located, comfortable and with helpful staff it gave us a great base to do our own thing with restaurants, sights etc. We really liked Lisbon which is a vibrant city with lovely atmosphere.

- Yang (8/5): - I love the decorations especially the sculptures. The room is okay, not fancy like they show in the pictures, I believe that one is a presidential suit. My ordinary room is not very different than any other hotel. The check in desk is not very obviously located. I arrived at night and couldn't find it at the first glance. There's no sign indicating the checkin desk and the hotel carry two names, the sign shows a name different than what Expedia shows me. The entrance looks glorious however it's not open to outside, you can only exit from it, not even with a room card. The hotel is not accessible by Uber/Bolt, you have to walk a little bit. It's accessible by Taxi though, but I advise against it. They tried to scam me the first time, then I never bother use them anymore. Amenity is good, I got enough water and beverage in the room for my 3-day stay. Breakfast is non inspiring, unlike many other hotels in southern Europe. Overall next time I will stay closer to the train station or ave of liberty.

They were able to ready our room well before check in and provided tea (champagne if you wanted it) and coffee service complimentary in a beautiful room while we waited the 20 minutes for that to happen. We received a gift upon our arrival. The room was not spacious (we took the next level from the smallest), but it was comfortable and there are slippers and robes provided. Service was very good and they were able to book a couple of restaurants for us upon request. I noticed that some reviews said that people were rude, but we did not experience that and I think that may be the Portuguese (I noticed some brusqueness among other people we encountered outside of the hotel--just that they're happy to tell you where you're wrong). I did use the sauna a couple of times, which was great after a long day of walking. There isn't anyone staffed up there (which was a little odd), so that's self service. The gym is minimal (hey, you're on vacation, right?). We paid separately for breakfast one morning and that was excellent, with a great selection of local cheeses and foods. Who knew the Portuguese were so into pumpkin? They have a complimentary afternoon tea with some biscuits. Location can't be beat.

- LeslieS82 (10/5): One of the best parts of our Lisbon vacation. - We do not have enough great things to say about Prestana Pousada Lisboa. From the moment we arrived in this small exquisitely appointed hotel we knew we had made the right choice. The location is wonderful, just across the street from the Praca de Comercio- a gorgeous large plaza on the Tagus River. Our spacious room on the first floor above the lobby had a small balcony from which to view the plaza and river, although I don’t know if all rooms have balconies. Every member of the staff from the arrival and front desk personel, food services, housekeeping, maintenance— everyone —were exceptional friendly, helpful and professional. I wish I could name and thank them all. Concierge Daniella and Breakfast Manager Philip were especially gracious and attentive. Don’t pass up the fabulous breakfast buffet with so many wonderful selections including the fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, salmon, diary, cereals and famous Lisbon pastries. The hotel itself features fabulous statuary and art on loan from local museums. Especially beautiful was the large lounge where tea was served every afternoon. The building itself is historic and architecturally stunning. Our room had a vaulted ceiling. The only weak spot was the room was under-lit, but it was spacious with a small refrigerator, espresso machine and other conveniences. Also available was the workout room, sauna, spa and indoor pool. In short, this hotel was definitely one of our favorite parts of our great Lisbon vacation. We thank everyone for making it happen.

The hotel accommodations were efficient and clean, the staff was engaged, helpful, kind. Definitely get the breakfast here - it was fabulous. kuddos!
