renehardenberg (8/5): Disappointing “Suite” Experience – Needs Urgent Refurbishment** - I was placed in a so-called "suite" located several buildings away from the main hotel. The entrance and hallway leading up to it were old and poorly maintained, which made for an unwelcoming first impression. The accommodation itself seemed to be part of a converted flat—awkwardly laid out and extremely basic, with limited lighting and bathroom issues (poor drainage, leaking sink, and no toiletries provided). The shower was equipped with a rainfall head, but the cabin was so small I could barely move comfortably. There was no housekeeping on the second day, which further added to the sense of neglect. Overall, while my stay wasn’t entirely unpleasant, this space does not deserve to be called a "suite" and is certainly overpriced. A renovation is long overdue.

LisandroVoyager (6/5): Although hard to find this hotel is tidy and well located in the heart of town - I had a small, clean apartment with a panorama over the city. I had breakfast a few mornings and used the laundry service once. My room was a renovated one quite fresh and I would stay in it again. My room was in a different building from the hotel's registration and was reached around the block via a different street, a bit confusing. The rates are reasonable and I would gladly stay again there.
Charles (4/5): - Elevator didn’t work at all. Area was poorly lit and filthy. Across from noisy school. Staff was sullen and a bit cold and unwelcoming.
Matthew (8/5): - Stayed in an economy single. Not much space, dated, but sufficiently clean, bed was comfortable, hot water worked well. I would put it on par with a private room at a hostel. Not much in the immediate area, but also not that far from a lot of stuff. There’s a little shop almost directly across the street for snacks and water, guy was fair, not trying to scam you (about 10 EGP for a 1.5L water). I walked from the train station, and then to all the major tourist sites.
Zhong (4/5): - I booked an economy room for $12 per night. You get what you pay for. Paint was peeling off the wall. The room was moist. The walls where dirty. The headboard was unclean. The shower has a fabric curtain which soaks with water when you shower. The floor is not particularly clean. They have better rooms. Book that instead. I mistakenly booked an economy room and it was not hygienic.

Nivine (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay, the hotel compared to the price is really good. The staff were helpful especially Mr. Mina. The location is central and close to Raml station. The one-bedroom apartment was spacious and clean, the only drawback was the electricity cut off in the whole area for 2 hours daily, so we had to wait until the electricity was back to go to the apartment which was on the 13th floor (apartments are in a separate building on 13th and 14th floors, while standard rooms are in the main building). However, the electricity problem should not be permenant and it is not the hotel's fault. Overall, our experience at Alexander the Great Hotel was very good and we will be happy to come again.
Yasuyo (2/5): I really regret.. - I hate to say it, but I really regret choosing this hotel. The room was very small. I thought it was a maid's room and felt miserable. The door of the room is also shabby compared to other rooms in this hotel. Also Internet connection is poor in the room. I don't think the room is good value for the cost and could have booked a better room in another hotel for the same price. This was the worst hotel on my trip to Egypt.

A suite with 2 single and a double bed. Good bathroom with a good shower. They printed my boarding passess at reception for free. Great place.
puerrtto (10/5): Fantastic view of Alexandria, fast internet, comfortable beds but couple of drawbacks - We lived in a studio apartment with a kitchen and living room, 14th floor of a neighboring high-rise building, fantastic view of Alexandria, fast internet, comfortable beds, very clean and comfortable. The check-in went quickly, we were immediately taken to the apartment, everything was explained and shown. There weren't utensils for cooking in the kitchen. During the check in we asked to bring plates, pan and etc and we were told that they going to bring it in the morning. But in the morning nothing was brought, we had to go down to the reception once again and remind about the kitchen utensils. Only after that they delivered the required. In fact, due to the lack of kitchen utensils, it made no sense to rent a studio that costs more than a regular room. We were unable to cook dinner for the children and had to go to a restaurant instead, and in the morning again we were unable to cook breakfast for ourselves and the child. When the cookware was finally delivered to us on the second day, it was just wonderful, but the first day disappointed us greatly.

The umbrellas on the beach are small and horrible. They let dogs to go on the beach. I love animals but i don’t want to swim in the sea where people bathe their dogs.

Abed (8/5): Comfortable Clean Rooms - Our suite had two rooms, each with a double/queen sized bed. The furnishings were in good condition and more than adequate. Bed linens and towels were clean and towels were replaced daily. There was daily complete room service with toiletries, coffee and tea packets, etc. The room had a full-sized refrigerator, a double-burner electric cooktop and a sink. If you want to cook you need to bring pots, pans, plates, etc. since there were none of those and only minimal cutlery. We didn't cook so it wasn't an issue. The only negative was that the shower door didn't close completely which resulted in some water on the bathroom floor. There was plenty of hot water for showers. Wifi worked fine. The price is very reasonable for the level of service and facilities so I definitely recommend it.
bhageer (8/5): Nice Hotel with some Negatives - Stayed for 4 days. The room was on the 1st floor where the reception is. Large spotlessly clean room. Very quite AC. Small washroom, but clean with all necessary toileteries provided. A 10 minute walk to the cornich. The hotel entrance is located opposite the main gate of a school, between two trees. The reception is on the first floor. Free wifi at the reception. Did not have any breakfast. Now the negative. I got a room directly facing the school. They play soccer everynight and the fullblown shouting and screaming goes on till late into the night. On a Friday, went on till 1 a.m. Today is Sunday and I am writting this review at 11.40 p.m and the shouting and screeming is still going on. God knows what time I can go to bed. Hence please avoid getting a room facing the school.
DebB306 (8/5): Central, really clean, hospitable staff large pre plated breakfast.. what more do you want? - This place reminds me of a parisienne hotel. Small clean entrance and up a level of stairs to the reception. Hubby and I stayed for 3 nights. The place is spotless, low key and traveler friendly... the ritz it's not... but we'd hate that. The central location saved us loads of Uber costs and the large pre- plated breakfast saved us having to spend on lunch and wait for a great dinner.... classic travelers ploys. Rooms 104, 105, 204, 205 have medium sized rooms, large balconies big beds, interesting but clean bathrooms and it looks like most of the ACs are nearly new. The views of St Catherine's and the courtyard are quiet and brain cooling, letting you decompress from the maelstrom of Alexandria.

It was a one night only I came Alex as a business overnight but it was so nice accommodation. The view was very nice church view and side sea view from 13 floor !! Thank you for receptionist and the nice person whose assist me to the extension building and show me two suites to choose one
Kent (10/5): - The service was excellent, price was awesome, Room was spotless, Apartment actually. It is not located in the Alexotel, about a block away, but quite secure and easy to get to. Lots of room with three bedrooms. It is not a Fairmont, but for the price I have paid triple that and gotten far less, so it was excellent. The photos on the website are reasonably accurate.

691rasham (8/5): Nice stay ( will recommend it ) - I booked one bed room apartement through booking the price was very nice according to the facillities - It was at 16th floor , - It has small kitchenette with microwave , kettle & small fridge - It has dinning table , one king bed , 2 queen beds , wardrobe & 2 couches - it has flat tv , air conditioner (cool & heat ) & free wifi - they dont have parking but they help u 2 park infront of the building - some of the rooms are renovated I dislike one thing ( they dont have dont disturb signs so when w had a problem with the tv they entered the room with the technical while we were out without taking any permission & they shocked when we come back and found them at the room ) Overall i enjoyed my stay it was cozy , clean , tidy , the stuff was very helpful & for sure i’ll repeat it 👍🏻

Ramon_Aka1990 (6/5): Not bad - The hotel is located inside a residential/office building and it’s right across a school. The location is not bad, you’re about 20 mins walk from beach/central station. There are some churches around but other than that not much as it’s located in a back street. I got a free upgrade to a bigger room - very spacious but really old furniture. The bathroom had one of the sliding doors missing in the shower, rooms are cleaned everyday but on my last day there were no towels for some reason. Also the hot water runs out after like 5 mins. Overall not a bad experience but would stay elsewhere next time.

Dominic (10/5): - The single room is about 8sqm (so you'd need to use all your luggage) but I found it perfect. The staff are very friendly, the room cleaned each day. It is perfect for a solo trip. The hotel is within walking distance to the night markets and the front. Will definitely re-use this hotel if I return to Alexandria. During my fortnight trip around North of Egypt, this was the best place I stayed in.

The staff are helpful, and they offer a good level of service and cleanliness, needless to say excellent location. It's not a luxury destination for those looking for luxury, yet I liked my stay there and would recommend it.
Haidar_vip (4/5): Dirty entrance and smelly rooms - I went in the building that the hotel were inside, first problem the entrance were dirty and i didn't know the hotel is. The elevator was half broken and very small so i toke the stairs to find the hotel. The hotel was in the first floor and the entrance was as an apartment door. When we went in our room the room was smelly and dirty. Don't recommend the hotel
TravellingQldlanders (8/5): Great old world experience - Steigenberger Cecil Hotel in Alexandria is in a great location on the Corniche. Some rooms have views of the Mediterranean. The lift is an old school open metal gate system. Rooms were reasonable. There are restaurants close by eg the Delices and there is an alcohol outlet behind the hotel called Drinkies. We would stay here again.
ILHAM (8/5): For Egypt is satisfactory! - Staff is quite helpful. In spite of central location difficult to find, even for taxi driver. Rooms are small, but equipped and not as ones as shown on pictures. Bathes are in rooms without good isolation, so be careful when taking shower if do not want of flooding of your room. NO WIFI in rooms Important note for finding hotel: Hotel is right behind or ahead (depending on of your coming direction) of Greek church

SlugPerth (6/5): Worse than expected - Ok so I know I was booking a budget hotel and the rooms were well maintained, clean and tidy. The furniture was old and worn but functional and the bed was compfrtable. The door locks were impossible and we even had to accompany of of the other travelers to her room to help her get in. We were in "The other bulding" which is fine. We booked 3 x suites each to bed 4 people. We wanted the extra room of the suites and were happy to pay the price. On arrival we completed 3 guests forms and then when we were taken to the rooms, the porter told us only 2 rooms, 2 people in each. we had to object and we settled the 2 single ladies in their room. That left us 2 single males who were to share a room. The porter finally relented and took us to a suite which contained only a double bed. they basically told us thats all we were getting so we just put up with it. The hallways were covered with dust n dirt and hadent been cleaned or dusted in years which wasnt a problem as the rooms were clean. The picture I attached does not exist even tho its the main pic used on both Agoda nad Booking.com, I think its part of one of the nearby churches so feel a bit deceived on the style of property.

They all have access to their own balcony and terraces. I liked the view, the free Wi-Fi connection and the location (in the heart of the old city). Very good value for money, for sure!

ahmedy302 (2/5): Non professional rudness - They are just using a dublex flat as a hotel and some flat in other resdintual building near to them with the same rates of a hotel There way was soo rude I agreed to take a room for one day as i was just married and having one day before going for my honeymoon with my wife but we still did not get the official paper so we just had a stamped paper from the authorized person which is supposed that all hotels know this paper The manager dealed with me as i am faking it with a very bad look, I dont know how my would have felt if she was there and saw what happened That is not even a hotel Really don’t rent from them there is much more good and professional hotels in alexandria

Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent apartment - My apartment is clean, had a nice view of the city, modern design, kitchen and bathroom. It's got amenities that I needed such as washing machine, clothes drying rack. It has air condition and fans. It's got a flat screen TV with loads of channels including English speaking channels and movies.

Verified traveler (8/5): Decent place to sleep - Polite service at late night arrival and was given a huge suite for myself. The only inconvenience was that the room was in a building away from the reception. This building was very run-down and I didn’t feel that there was good security.

pittsburgh (8/5): This is an acceptable hotel - Look we got to the hotel so we took a room that was theoretically identical to our original room just in a different location. It was in a building adjacent to the main complex in the 13th floor accessible through an alley. The view was good. The room was clean. The bathroom was clean but the shower doors were falling off their hinges. The elevator was a bit sketchy. The people were very nice housekeeping etc. The check in is up 1.5 flights of stairs. It’s a bit confusing as you think you have reached reception— there is a desk but no one there and no sign. You have to go up another flight. Wi-Fi is pretty spotty. It’s perfectly fine as a place to spend the night but that’s pretty much it. If you know what you are in for you are fine if you think you are getting more amenities then no so fine.

Hope (4/5): Room was different from pictures online - I was given a room that looks nothing like the photos online, the mirrors were broken, the water heater was falling apart in the bathroom, the room was like a closet, tiny room which had been converted for sleeping and the extra blanket I was given because I was cold stunk, was dirty, not washed or laundered. I cancelled my last night stay on expedia almost two full days in advance, they would not answer the phone calls from expedia and refused to give me a refund for the last night I had requested a refund. I had two rooms booked and lost the money on both. This hotel is also in an out of the way area, very hard to find. I would never go back there.
Pat (8/5): Ideal location near Alexandria end train station - Great room and facilities for the price. Everything I wanted in terms of a room for the price. Location was quiet and safe and walking distance from train station. Room was clean and spacious and comfortable. Most importantly it was very quiet at night for sleeping. WiFi only worked in the front office but this was only a minor inconvenience. I found shopping for meals 10-15 mins walk away for my Australian tastes. I would certainly return here next visit.
Kang Liong (8/5): Good budget hotel. - We were assigned to a spacious and clean apartment separated from hotel’s main building. Everything works spoilt slightly by occasional odour smells in the kitchen. Location is good; walkable to almost all tourist sports. Staff was friendly and helpful.

In addition, the windows did not close properly; one was broken (notice on it asking for it not to be opened) and the blinds were broken ___ privacy issue.

Mohammed (2/5): Overall, a terrible experience. - it was a very bad experience. The location is very bad , very far from the cornich. The three bedroom apartments are not on the same building of the hotel. The apartment bathroom was not clean, full of cockroaches. i spent the whole night killing cockroaches which prevented us from having good sleep. The location was noisy as well even during the night.
MP (8/5): Inexpensive hotel - Good hotel to not spend much cash and close to tourist attractions. No luxuries and included breakfast is actually good and varied. Make sure to go to Delices, a famous restaurant known for its pastries, established in 1922. The Citadel closes at 4PM (Google says 5PM), so plan accordingly and enjoy the sunset after touring the inside of the Citadel.
Verified traveler (6/5): Ok hotel good for price - The hotel is in a side road and difficult to find Breakfast was from 8am and we left around 7:15 and they would not give anything. The door needs a key to lock and unlock and not intuitive. No English language support so communicAtikn is an issue
f4rrz (8/5): A hidden gem by egyptian standards - On the exterior nothing special but interiorly well designed, clean ,spacious. Pleasantly surprised. Air con and Wi-Fi in good working order. Breakfast sunstainsial and varied. A 'GEM' by egyptian standards. Only downside is the noise from the school adjacent that wakes you up early!
Verified traveler (10/5): Ecxellent hotel in the heart of Mansheya - The hotel is located in the heart of Mansheya but is reasonably quiet. It is close to both a Greek Orthodox and Catholic Basilica, both worth visiting. The staff are really friendly and the room is cleaned impeccably every day. This was my second and likely not last stay.

Victoria (8/5): - This a budget hotel, which is good value for an excellent location. You can walk to most of the places of interest and was very convenient for the train station. I had a small single room which had everything I could need squeezed in and was very clean. There was a nice lounge area by the reception. There is a handy and friendly pizza/ crepe shop on the nearby corner for a snack.

Verified traveler (8/5): Clean hotel in a quiet street - Location OK: in a quiet (by local standards) side street, not too far from main attractions. Helpful staff at the reception desk (particulary Mina). We have been offered an early check in at no extra cost. Room (201) was spacious and clean, with a view over the courtyard of the St.Catherine school just across the street. Big fridge. Should you feel cold, an additional oil radiator is provided. Wide, but very hard beds. Breakfast wasn’t included in the room price, so I can’t comment. Decent and constant WiFi connection was available in the room, sufficient for Skype and Viber.
