Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): Like staying at your grandparent's house. - Despite some shortcomings, I would 1000% stay here again and really look forward to coming back. The owner is a wonderful, older gentleman who just exudes love, grace and courtesy from every fiber of his being. He waited outside the villa to greet me and help guide me into the parking spot, gave me great recommendations for dinner, and treated me like family. It was such a wonderful, loving experience that I want to bring my family back.
The location is great if you want to explore Split's old town, as it's a short walk to the Riva and Diocletian's Palace.
Yes, the room is small. Yes, the blankets are somewhat worn but extremely clean. Yes, the towels are worn and stiff from being line dried instead of fluffed in a dryer. Yes, the room was cold despite the heater going full blast all night.
However, when I overslept and missed checkout, the owner greeted me with a smile and told me not to worry. He let me park the car in the parking space after checkout so I could explore the city. When I returned, he guided me when I was pulling the car out. He offered me use of his bathroom, asked me if I needed anything for my next journey (water, etc.), and waved goodbye as I drove away. It really felt like I spent a night at my loving Italian grandpa's house and I want to go back.
- Diana (6/5): Great location - Great location close to ferry port, bus and train station. Water leaking out of the shower floor was an inconvenience, TV needed updating, but you need to realise that you get what you pay for . If you want a great location and a place to sleep, this is good vale for money.
- Jan (8/5): - Many places in Split we found to only accept cash but the location was close to main attractions however in a questionable looking area.
- Carlos (10/5): Just what we needed and more. - Great place to stay at. Clean, a few blocks from convenient travel point, the Port of Split. We would stay there again and recommend to friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Comfortable room very close to communications (bus, ferry, train) and the old town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Huone pieni, hukattu ylimääräisellä väliseinällä tilaa
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good choice for basic hotel in Split - Nice basic hotel in a good area near the train and ferry as well as old town Split. Comfortable small rooms, slightly run down. Hotel staff were very helpful with local suggestions and arranging an airport shuttle.
- Rosemary (8/5): Fantastic staff - Oct 5, 2018. Rm #1, main floor (no elevator for higher floors). Small room. Only 1 person at a time in bathroom! Easy to find with GPS. Behind train station, area looked scary, but ease of walking to town (10-15 min) and staff made it good. Let owner know ahead of time if need parking--it's right in front of hotel. Recommended to a mother/daughter we met later. Can't say enough good things about staff. Worried may be noisy near trains, but was not.
- Ian (10/5): The perfect location when in Split! - Perfect location being only a stones throw from the main harbour, shops, restaurants and the old town all within walking distance.
The apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable and the guy on reception was super friendly and couldn't do enough to make my stay more enjoyable.
Would thoroughly recommend, i shall be back next year!!
- Frances (10/5): Convenient, classy and comfortable. - Great location close to bus and ferry stations and a walkable distance to main city. Staff were very helpful and the room was wonderful. Highly recommended and very good value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend - We are repeat guests of Villa Simoni & the experience was fantastic as always. Great location.
- Nicholas (10/5): Perfect Location - Basic facilities for a basic price in Split City Centre. I found the location to be perfect. Staff were extremely helpful.
- Marie (8/5): 2 minutes walk to bus station, ferry to islands - Friendly helpful staff. 4 rooms have seafront views.
- Jonathan (10/5): Basic but everything you need - Great location 5 min walk to main strip and port. We chose to take the Villa shuttle from the airport which was great value for money and the staff were knowledgable and giving us lots of information on the drive to the villa. The room was clean, comfortable, basic but everything you need. The staff were accommodating, knowledgable, had maps of the town and gave up advice on tours (even an umbrella when it decided to thunderstorm on our first night) a great stay!
- kin wai (10/5): Good location and helpful - SIMON IS A VERY HELPFUL PERSON WHO HELP ME PRINT MY INTERNET BUS TICKET AND HE IS A CHEERFUL PERSON
- J (6/5): No room available - We had booked months ago and reconfirmed again the morning of our arrival, confirming a 2100hrs arrival after a long journey from Dubrovnik. .we booked the hotel because it is next to the the port and the car rental office where we were collecting car the next day.
Arrived to find that our room had been given to another party that had arrived needing more rooms than they had booked. We were not happy. This would normally cause a 'terrible' rating on all categories.
However, to be fair to the manager, under the onslaught of our anger, he fully acknowledged his fault; he found an apartment across town (which wasn't great but not terrible either), took us there and collected us the next Morning to take us to car rental. And we reached a financial adjustment. .
So, while very cross at our room being given away, we would fully acknowledge that the manager mitigated the situation well. Hence I would give this experience a 3.5 out of 5 score and compliment the manager for trying very hard to make good a mistake of his own making.
My ratings in each category apply to the accommodation that was provided, which was not the hotel!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great staff - This is perfect location to get to everything. Renovated quality rooms, great staff who will do everything to help. Recommend to all!
- roger (8/5): Split central stay - Very friendly very small room but ideal location
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very close to ferry and castle...small rooms but clean
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Parking is in the street if you can find one, cigarette smell in the room even though it was a non-smoking room. No enough hot water for 2 guest. Close to train, port and sightseeing.
- Bob (8/5): Convenient for ferry, train and old town. - Family owned and run by really helpful and friendly people. Just 200m ftom ferry and 20m from rail station through hole in the railings. 5 minutes walk to old town. My room was very clean and the larger rooms at front of building with balcony looked very good. For an overnight stay or long weekend would certainly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - its nice apartment and owner is real nice guy had good time there
- Verified traveler (10/5): Villa Simoni - Short stay; was out most of the day. Though there's a disadvantage since its located just behind the port, it can get prettyou noisy at night. Apart from that, everything was convenient, near the train, bus station, 5 mins walk to old town.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Low value for money. - A basic hotel but not it charges guests like a 3-star one.
- Alan (8/5): Good hotel in handy location. - Basic hotel in a good location. Very handy to the railway station and ferry wharf through a gap in the station fence! Ours was a small room but very neatly designed to contain all required comforts. Recommend for a short stay or when you are likely to be out all day.
- Sarah (8/5): Close enough to beach and old town - Good location and lovely owners who will go out of your way to make the stay pleasurable
- laura (8/5): A warm welcome awaits! - Spotlessly clean hotel with exceptionally friendly, helpful staff. Perfect location..minutes walk to the old town and to the beach. We were very pleasantly surprised by the level of care and quality of stay.
- Mark (6/5): Great for the ferry - This very basichotel is certainly nothing special but it is very clean and there are parking spaces nearby if you've hired a car. The hotel claims to have parking but this only street parking.
The hotel doesn't feel terribly secure as at the night the reception is unattended and the front door is wide open.
However, it's location can't be beaten. It's so central and only minutes from the ferry port.
I would recommend it as a place to stay overnight if you've arrived too late to get your ferry to the islands. It's fine for that. But certainly not as a base for your Split holiday.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice little villa by the Ferry Port - The villa is located right by the railway station and the Ferry Port and about 5-10 minutes walk from the main attractions in split. Very friendly staff.
- Adrian (10/5): Comfortable - Front desk were very accommodating. Place is close to bars and clubs. Clean room and nice bed!
- Leslie (8/5): Go wild in split!! - New property in excellent location beside train/bus/ferry 5mins from good beach and other way 5 mins from old town - would defo recommend
- Harold (10/5): Great location and service. - Great family run business in a fantastic location very close to the main town, buses and port.
Pro-tip: To save a long-ish walk with luggage you can take a short-cut from the bus station/port. Walk through the main entrance to the train station, across the tracks and through a (very obvious) hole in the fence right in front of reception. One minute from the port/bus station to the front door!
- Will (10/5): Cozy Gem in Split - The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the hotel grounds were pristinely clean, and everything was as expected.
Villa Simoni is a great deal.
- Susan (8/5): Close to Marina - Close to marina for check in for our boat cruise
- Grace (10/5): - Very welcoming, had a lovely stay and the staff were amazing.
- Dave (6/5): Great Location, simple, perfect for short trip - The hotel is right behind the railway station on a quiet street, so just a few minutes walk to the harbour front and ideal for bus and railway stations. Front desk very welcoming, no lift but that didn't bother us. Room was small, simple, but clean and comfy. Bathroom small too but did the trick. Would recommend for a short stay in Split.
- Linda (8/5): - Great location near bus and train. Great place but no breakfast at this time of year
- glyn (10/5): Happily stay here again - Even though i only stayed a short time really enjoyed staying here and when i return will definitely stay here again.Everything was great and the owner really friendly and helpful.Great location easy to find from the coach station.Really nice room everything was very clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): Easy access to old town, nice place - The location was great. Easy access to old town and the water front. Our shower didn't work great which was annoying. the room size was small but worked for what we needed. We had called to arrange airport pick up but the hotel had a miscommunication among their staff and we were not picked up. We ended up having to take a taxi for more money. But the hotel upgraded our room as a gesture. Overall a good stay and would stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Perfect adjacent to bus and train and access to ai - The negatives are air conditioning did not cool, bathroom is really small, and towels were rough.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A work in progress in Split - Villa Simoni is a recent addition to the lodging scenes in Split. It's behind the train station and ferry terminal and about a minute and a half walk from the Riva, Farmers' Market and Diocletian's Palace. For the independent traveler looking for a reasonable place to stay, it is pretty good. It's fairly new and is being improved. It's family owned and the family lives on site. Simon, the oldest son and manager (and thus, Simoni) is helpful and took the time to come and get me when I couldn't find the right street...missed it by about 100 meters.
