- Verified traveler (10/5): Go for it - The breakfast was brilliant every morning. Excellent location and safe off-street parking. Would definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic hosts - Wonderful guesthouse. So clean and tidy. Awesome owners Pam and Colin. Location very accessible to most areas in the Lake District. Would recommend guesthouse to everyone ! Pam and Colin very knowledgeable about the area THey Recommended loads of places to visit Thank you guys for a wonderful time x
- nandkishore (10/5): Nice hotel and very helpful hosts. - Good location
Excellent hosts
Excellent breakfast
Fantastic rooms
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely stay with great hosts. - Pam and Collin were very accommodating especially waiting for our check in when we were delayed. They provided excellent breakfasts and descriptions of where to go and what to see in the area. We were in Room 3 which faced the street and we anticipated street noise. However, the room was surprisingly quiet and a portable fan inside the room helped out. The room was comfortable with several amenities that exceeded hotels we had stayed at in other locations. A Wifi extender was added to the room which provided exceptional speed. Convenient 10 minute walk into Windermere or longer into Bowness.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very comfortable - excellent hosts very welcoming, would recommend the Firgarth to anyone. Look forward to returning later in the year
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly high standard b&b - Friendly hosts, who gave us lots of ideas on places to visit/walk/eat out, and the breakfast was excellent!
- Verified traveler (10/5): An amazing hotel in an amazing place to visit - Firgarth combines the friendliness of a B&B with the service of a great hotel. We have literally zero complaints about anything, and only good things to say about it.
The first moment we arrived we were greeted and offered coffee/tea. Since it was our first time in Lake District, they gave us great information and leaflets on the area and helped us get the best out of our trip.
The breakfast was superbly done, probably the highlight of the trip. A highly recommended hotel!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - The staff were very welcoming and friendly and really were very helpful if you needed anything.
The room was very clean and comfortable. I would have no problem in recommending this to anyone.
- Daniel (10/5): Outstanding, 5 stars! - Me and my girlfriend were looking for a last minute long weekend and this hotel caught our eye due to the height rating and proximity to Windermere and it did not disappoint!
The owners of the Firgarth were exceptionally welcomeing, friendly and knowledgable of the local area. Located just a 5/10 minutes walk from the top Windermere town centre where there are a number of pubs and places to eat to suit all tastes, this was perfect for us on an evening. For only a few pounds you are able to get a taxi into Windermere centre. Also having a couple shorts walks in close proximity means the car isn't always required.
The breakfast and cleanliness at the Fargarth is outstanding! I've never been in such a clean guest house! The breakfast was very well stocked with fresh fruits, fresh hot croissants, as well as the usual cereals, juices and English breakfasts options ordered to your requirements which were from quality ingredients.
All in all an excellent place to say can't recommend the Fargath enough!
- Chris (10/5): Clean and well run - Great hosts, very good breakfast.
- Eddie (10/5): Better than home from home - Just excellent - wonderful welcoming hosts who cannot do enough for you. From the moment you first walk in and are greeted with fresh tea and coffee ,whilst your bags are brought to your room until you leave and they bring your bags down, nothing is too much trouble.
I have complete confidence in recommending Firgarth and Pam and Colin.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay from the very fist time that we entered through the front door. We were warmly welcomed and provided with a tea and biscuits, at the same time giving us information and leaflets about things to do in the area.
We were shown to our room and our cases were carried up stairs for us. Our room was bright and airy and very well furnished and maintained to an extremely high standard. The bathroom was beautifully clean and light. The towels provided were a very high standard.
There was an excellent choice for breakfast and nothing was too much trouble for mine hosts Colin & Pam.
- JC (10/5): Extremely Welcoming - Terrific hosts who could not have been more welcoming. Very comfortable room and breakfasts excellent. Would recommend to anyone staying in the Lakes District.
- sharon scott (10/5): Gem of a hotel - One of the best hotels we have stayed at in 35 years of travel. Attentive to all your needs. Immaculate room, superb breakfast and a great nights sleep. Also ideally located with parking. 10min walk into centre of Windermere, or 2min in car.
- Alaric (10/5): Amazing Bed and Breakfast - Staying at the Firgarth was wonderful. It is perfectly situated about a 12 minute walk outside of Windermere (and from the primary train station). The breakfast was fabulous every single day, and I always looked forward to it.
It is an easy walk down to Bowness-on-Windermere with lots of amazing views of the lake, pastures, and hills to climb. I had lots of fun just walking around that area.
The only potential issue is the internet in the region can be a bit sporadic at times. Having lived in similar remote locations, I doubt this is limited to the Firgarth. Also, if you are visiting Windermere for good internet service, you really have the wrong idea about visiting a place known for its natural beauty.
On a brief customer service aside, the owners were always willing help me find my way around. Further, I was offered a free upgrade to a larger room after the first night without any prompting from me. I actually declined it as I loved the smaller room (this should tell you how good the rooms are).
The bottom line? Stay here. It is amazing, and the owners are simply fabulous.
- Anthony (10/5): Highlight of our UK trip - Great B&B, great location. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful. Highlight of our UK trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A comfortable stay - Friendly owners who passed on useful information about points of interest. Wonderfully clean room - cleanest B&B I've stayed in within the UK. Lovely breakfast, full English and other options available. Would come again!
- URS BRUNO (8/5): Excellent value/price relation - Nice welcome with tea. Nicely renovated house.
Very friendly house owners.Excellent
- Chris (10/5): Amazing little B&B! - What a fantastic stay! Pam and Colin were extremely welcoming and gave us good advice of things to do, local walks, buses to take etc.
Room was spotless and comfortable, bathroom very modern and clean.
Cooked breakfast was delicious, including the vegetarian options.
We will definitely be back very soon, we were sad to leave!
- Michael (10/5): Brilliant Hotel - Brilliant B&B! Me and my other half stayed here 2nd- 4th of September. Rooms extremely clean. Lovely Breakfast. We weren't sure what attractions and views to visit. Pam gave us leaflets for everything and explained where were the best places to visit and how to get there. Pam and Colin were great hosts.
- C&L (10/5): Ideally situated B&B between Windermere and Bownes - Lovely place to stay friendly welcome great breakfast to set you up for the day.
- Elaine (10/5): Excellent B&B in Windermere - We spent 2 very enjoyable nights at the Firgarth in Windermere last weekend. From our arrival Colin was extremely helpful as it was our first trip to the area, he took lots of time to go through Maps with us so that we could plan things to do during our stay. The weather was terrible and we got very wet and they dried our clothes for us overnight. The room we stayed in was exceptionally comfortable with a lovely bathroom. They also had lots of restaurant recommendations in the information folder in the room. The B&B is well located within easy walking distance of Windermere & surrounding areas. Breakfast was great each morning. There was lots of choice and plenty of everything! We were particularly impressed with the interest each staff member took in our trip and how they remembered our plans & asked each morning how the previous day had been. We will definitely stay at the Firgarth again next time we visit the Lake District!
- Gordon (10/5): Excellent - Excellent in all ways, some hotels I have stayed in don't reach the standard of this B&B, super clean, great service and local knowledge. Super breakfast Colin! a lovely couple who gave you the time and nothing was to much trouble for them. Parking is good and just by the side of the B&ab. Lovely walks from here which Pam can advise you on. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended
- Pat (10/5): A Lake district gem! - The Firgarth was the ideal B&B - excellent hosts, great breakfast, wonderfully comfortable. Little additional touches were really welcome - such as the tray for muddy walking shoes/boots and the care taken to ensure we had ample information about the area and its tourist potential. It is a little way from the main centre of Windermere and Bowness and so very peaceful. Though located on a busy road, we hardly noticed! A place to be highly recommended and to return to.
- Gat (10/5): Fantastic B/B - This B/B is very clean and comfortable. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast is much more than adequate. Highly highly recommended.
- Rikki (10/5): 5* - Amazing stay. Colin and Pam were so delightful and nothing was too much for them. The room was very clean and had everything you need and more. The hot breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked, they had a large spread of fresh fruits and cereals which was great too. Couldn't thank them enough for an amazing birthday weekend in the Lake District.
- Sam and Hannah (10/5): Wonderful staff - I was very impressed having booked for my wedding anniversary. Me and my wife were offered a very warm welcome by Pam. She always had the time to go through the attractions around the area and the best way to get around. For a new comer to the area(like us) it was very helpful. I accidentally cancelled the trip while trying to browse through the Expedia app . Pam and Colin offered to give us a full refund for the trip.we are so thankful for their courteous actions. Unfortunately we had to head back home as my wife became ill during the trip . Pam waived the breakfast fee which was a kind act. We are very thankful for the lovely gift box of chocolates as a gift for our wedding anniversary . The only downside was the bed .Hence dropped one score on comfort. The bed was very creaky(especially the mattress springs) . It may be worth replacing the mattress in the room we stayed in. The breakfast was delicious and all the staff including the catering lady(can't remember her name ) was ever so friendly. We felt very welcomed at Firgarth and would definitely recommend . We would choose to stay at Firgarth the next time we visit. Many many thanks to Pam and Colin for all their kindness and the warm welcome.
- Grace (10/5): Great Homely Stay - We were running late for check in as we were caught on the motorway where we encountered three traffic jams. The check in was supposed to close by 8 pm but we called Colin and Pam to inform of our late arrival. They were very nice to wait for us. Daily breakfast was sumptuous. You choose what you want to eat and it will be prepared fresh and hot and served at your table. Colin was also very thoughtful to provide us with a table fan as it was a hot summer. Overall a very good enjoyable stay. Both Pam and Colin were very hospitable and friendly; sharing with us places of interests to visit.
- Phil (10/5): Great hotel with wonderful staff. - Lovely hotel only a short walk from the train station and from Orrest Head in Windermere. The owners and staff were all delightful and gave brilliant advice on walks, and breakfast was unsurpassed.
- Neil (10/5): Everything you'll need - If you want a place to stay that's clean, has great breakfasts, wifi in your room, friendly informative hosts free parking & a convenient location around Windermere this is the place to stay.
- Ross (10/5): Well looked after in Windermere. - Very friendly greeting, with a welcome cuppa and advice for activities around Windermere. Lovely breakfast, well maintained rooms, small but modern bathroom. On a main road but only busy in daytime, quiet at night. 10 minute walk back into Windermere for shops & restaurants and 1/2 hour walk into Bowness for lake activities.
- Jeremy and Tom (10/5): Very welcoming owners and excellent room - Pam and Colin were excellent hosts provided lots of suggestions and information on things to see and do. The room was large clean new and comfortable.
- Scott (10/5): Beautiful B&B in the Beautiful Lakes - Absolutely wonderful stay! It's a reasonable walk to Windermere and Bowness and easy to get into and out of. The sign for parking is a bit easy to miss....I did the first time by. But free and private parking. The owners are simply wonderful and friendly. They gave me great advice for sight seeing and it paid off. The room was small but I didn't need more. Breakfast simple but hearty and one doesn't stay in a B&B for a 4 course menu. I couldn't be happier! Don't miss it!!
- Carolyn (10/5): Great hosts ! - I had a wonderful stay thanks to Pam and Colin. They brought me a pot of tea and biscuits upon arrival. Pam gave me a lot of suggestions and tips based on where I wanted to go and she supplied maps and brochures too. Colin took my suitcase up to the room while we had an extensive conversation. They had an amazing amount/variety of cold and hot foods available for breakfast. My room was clean, well stocked with tea and biscuits and overlooked a nice garden. I would highly recommend this B and B.
- FARRIS (10/5): - Nice and clean with lovely owners :)
- Sui Leung (10/5): - Our stay there had been very enjoyable. With the good advices from Pam and Collins, we visited a lot of places for sightseeing !
- ashley (10/5): 5* amazing - We absolutely loved our stay at the firgarth, the room was so clean and tidy, breakfast was perfect, everybody there was incredibly friendly and the private car park was really handy! I'd definitely recommend this guest house to anybody visiting windermere, and will be returning myself at some point!

- Vee (10/5): Within walking distance of windemere - Really nice hotel, very clean and comfortable. Pam and Colinmake you feel very welcome. Thh breakfast was very good, delicious scrambled eggs. Good views from the back bedroom window which over looks asmall stream and field, we were lucky enough to see a small deer( bambi aawww !)

- Lobna (10/5): Amazing time at Firgarth - Great Stay, great hotel, great Pam
- Robert (10/5): Amazing guest house. This is our top choice - Very friendly welcome on arrival, sjown to our room which was lovely. Fantastic breakfast with quality items. And equally high quality service. Great location too, only £3.50 in a taxi to/from Bowness, trust me this this cheaper than having to drive and pay for parking. We will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect weekend getaway - We had a wonderful time at Firgarth. The hosts were accommodating to all our needs including various dietary requirements. They were very knowledgeable about the area and were very comfortable in their roles as hosts. We will definitely stay again
- Raymond (10/5): Great wee hotel and lovely staff - We had a great stay at The Firgarth. It is a brilliant hotel with lovely and helpful staff within walking distance of everything in Windermere.
- Stewart (10/5): Excellent place to stay - Excellent place to stay for a visit to the lakes. Excellent accommodation, excellent breakfast
- Gareth (10/5): Lovely B&B - After reading all the reviews on Trip Advisor and Hotels.com we had high hopes and we were not disappointed. Pam and Colin were more than helpful giving us maps and ideas for walks and drives as well as some excellent restaurants. The breakfast was superb and the rooms are spacious and clean with a communal sitting room too. We will definitely be going back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely B&B in Windermere! - This was a lovely B&B situated close to Windermere centre and Bowness (not quite walking distance for us to Bowness though. But that's subjective I suppose! We're not big walkers).
Our room was very modern, clean and welcoming. Also, it was nice and warm for the wintery days!
The staff were extremely welcoming and Colin had fantastic knowledge of the area. He took time on our arrival to give advice and maps.
The breakfast was great with a big selection and service was top notch.
The only small negative was that the internet wasn't very fast, but we were on the top floor so range I'm sure didn't help. However... who comes to the Lakes for the wifi anyway?!
I would highly recommend this B&B!
- Bernadette (6/5): - Enjoyed our stay but do feel if you have to vacate your room at 10am then you should really be able to get into your room earlier
But breakfast was lovely
- sue (10/5): - We had a very nice comfortable room. The breakfast had everything that you could want. The owners went out of their way to be friendly and give you the information that you needed, about a good walk, a good restaurant, a taxi service etc. The Firgarth was in an excellent location for walking and spending a holiday in the lake district.
