- GallopingGringa (10/5): Absolutely delightful! - This was our favorite place to stay during our three week car trip through the states up to Tobermory on the Bruce Peninusla and back to the states. What did we like? First of all, Samuel's was quiet and serene. No traffic noise. The view was of nature with flowers and a bit of a zen garden right our our room's sliding glass door. More natural views beyond our little garden to the riverbank of the Maitland River. Since our room in the building was one story, we had not outer guests moving about over our heads. Peaceful. Our room was spacious, the beds were wonderful, the shower was different with a stone floor and a glass door so it felt open and not enclosed. Our breakfasts each morning reminded us of Europe--cold cuts, yummy little pastries, Danishes and breads, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, good, strong coffee--and even an espresso machine. One night we took advantage of Samuel's limited room service menu and enjoyed our first taste of Sticky Toffee Pudding--delicious! They even greeted us with a Happy Anniversary card and a sweet arrangement of wild flowers. We both felt a welcome relief from the typical corporate branded hotels & motels and left feeling refreshed and happy with our stay. Well-done, Samuel's!! Thank you.

- Katherine (9/5): Beautiful spot! Amazing breakfast buffet! - The run was spacious and very clean. Our back doors opened up to nature and a sparkling River. Elena was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel has the best breakfast buffet I have seen for a long time. Lots of coffee and fruit and vegetables. The only criticism I could have was that the housekeeping staff didn't replace our coffee pods or creamers/sugar for our second morning. Small stuff compared to the rest of the experience.

The rooms facing the water are beautiful but the other side all of the rooms are ground floor with patio doors to the parking lot. We did not like that the hotel called us at 7 wondering where we were. Their website states they are open until 9 but once we arrived at 7 the front desk staff left the building.

The staff are super friendly and accommodated my gluten allergy at the buffet breakfast that was included with our stay. A beautiful view and walk out patio with well kept gardens made our stay feel so peaceful. Nice touch with a little welcome treat upon arrival. Highly recommend !

The owner was very gracious, beautiful room and view from the balcony window was a serene back yard instead of a parking lot. The property was misrepresented as a ‘boutique hotel’. It’s an average motel. The decor, the amenities are not boutique or niche level nor are the amenities represented in the listing or website current or accurate. Example: ‘River view’ is nonexistent as the brush is completely grown in and the river is not visible and as well quite a distance away. The lounge areas and outdoor terrace depicted in the gallery and listing are only accessible via the upstairs separate suite booking and not accessible to regular guests in regular rooms.

Beautiful setting overlooking the Maitland River and with relaxing individual patios outside of rooms facing the River. Delicious breakfast with a very large assortment of foods. Very easy to find right on the edge of town with a wonderful staff. Highly recommend!

- nancy (8/5): A lovely property but overpriced for where you are. This wasn't Paris, FR, it was a small town in ON - Location was good but a drive to get to the beach. The rooms were large with a nice terrace facing a grassy area that was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was easy with lots of choice in a bright airy room. The bedding seemed to be a bit old and the fitted sheet wasn't doing its job. Pillows were plentiful but lumpy.

- Hillary (8/5): Good stay - We chose Samuels to stay at as a family because it was close to the things we wanted to do. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and I appreciated the daily housekeeping. I thought the hotel would have better views for the price, but as we weren’t at the hotel much during the day that was fine. The majority of the staff were great and kind to my kids. However, I have anaphylaxis due to a nut allergy and was a bit concerned when I saw the breakfast buffet had several nut items. I asked the person at the front desk if she could tell me what had nuts and what didn’t, and she shrugged and said it would be hard to guess. It might be helpful in the future, given many people have food allergies or sensitivities these days, to make a list of allergens for the items served seeing as the breakfast was the exact same the 3 days we were there. Luckily I was able to find enough to eat without nuts and didn’t have a reaction from any cross-contamination.

- Annette (10/5): Excellent little "European Boutique" Gem - Staff was welcoming and pleasant, lobby was serene, welcoming and cool on a a very hot day! So refreshing! Check in quick and easy. Room was clean and well appointed with the little touches that made it feel boutique as advertised-toiletries, flowers, nicely stocked mini fridge which had reasonable costs for items. Bathroom area/shower was spacious. Fireplace and TV would be cozy for a winter visit. We had the "village view" and there was not traffic noise once the door was closed, it was not an issue at all. Lovely grounds to sit or take a walk if you wanted. European style breakfast was delicious and complimented the boutique atmosphere of the hotel. Very conveniently located 1km outside of Goderich, it was easy to spend the day at the beach, visit the market in the square and have dinner out and not feel like we were in the car alot. Would definitely recommend and return!

Needless to say we Promptly left . Like ran!!! Samuels came highly recommended, and luckily they had a room to accommodate us and our dog( first time travelling with him) Samuels Hotel is located perfectly…exceptional customer service …beautifully clean room… great bedding and the towels are plush and soft! A doggie bundle welcomed us as well… bowl, biscuit, blanket and fresh water The continental breakfast is fresh, delicious and reminiscent of a European breakfast. Loved it. Excellent coffee station including a multi choice espresso cappuccino station. Let me reiterate… CLEAN! Attention to detail is obvious and so appreciated . Crisp white linens on the tables, wonderful warm decor. Thank you for saving our visit to Goderich.

Extremely clean, very comfortable bed with a spa like feel in the amazing jacuzzi tub. There was a wonderful, very pleasant lady that seemed to do it aĺl. Continental Breakfast had the best variety i have seen. If you're looking for that pituresque with a little pampering this is the place to go.

The bed and pillows were super comfy and the room was immaculate. The continental breakfast was.plentiful and fresh. Location was great. Just a couple of minutes to restaurants, the beach and downtown.

- Natalka (9/5): A perfect spa bath getaway hotel for my birthday. - Lovely location with patio seating in a pretty garden and view of the Maitland River. The spa tub was wonderful and the main reason I booked the hotel/room for my birthday getaway with my spouse. There was a continental breakfast was a nice surprise that I didn’t realize was included.
- Richard (9/5): Lovely hotel in Goderich - Quaint hotel on the river. Tidy and wonderful concierge. Recommended. It is a drive into the town. The whole town had a power outage in the morning but the concierge did an amazing job of organizing the breakfast.
- McLean (7/5): - The property was in a good location for us. The room was very clean and the size was good, only 1 night. The power was out in the morning and we found out after we left that there was a notice to all the businesses in advance about the outage. We were annoyed that we spoke with her when we checked in and no one said anything to us. We would have prepared differently if we had known the power was going to be out.

I very much appreciate the attention to detail that is taken with everything. The room was clean, comfortable and quite lovely. And the continental breakfast is beyond anything one typical gets, lots of choices and beautifully presented. This won't be my last visit!
- Julia (10/5): - This gorgeous little hotel in nature was perfect for a weekend getaway to Goderich Ontario! My husband and I enjoyed our river-view room as we love nature and were able to meditate on our mini patio in the backyard of the property. The unique and cozy decorations made the boutique stay enjoyable and memorable. We really enjoyed the European-style breakfast in the adorable mini dining area in the morning. The little chocolates were also a nice treat for when we checked into our room!! We would definitely come back and stay at Samuel's again and we will for sure be recommending this hotel to all of our friends and family that go out the way!!!

- Nancy (6/5): - We recently stayed at this hotel and appreciated a few thoughtful features. The bed was very comfortable, and the room included a mini bar, coffee machine, and a microwave, which added a nice touch of convenience. The reception staff were kind and polite, although the check-in process could be more welcoming—we were presented with a pet fee agreement before even being greeted, which felt a little impersonal. There are a few areas that could use some attention. We noticed a stain on one of the pillows, and the screen door was broken. The sink water appeared foamy and fizzy, which was a bit unusual. Breakfast was provided, but unfortunately, the ingredients didn’t seem very fresh. The croissants were stale, and the eggs were cold and discolored, suggesting the food had been reheated rather than freshly made. While there were definitely some positives, with a few improvements in cleanliness, hospitality, and food quality, this could be a much more enjoyable experience for future guests.

- Kim (10/5): Fabulous owner that is so accommodating and friendly our 2 night stay was like visiting a friends house. - The property sits on immaculate grounds with a view of the Maitland River. Each room has its own small private area with a bistro set to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or your drink to watch the sunset. The morning breakfast provided was fabulous! The host covered all food groups with good variety, orange juice, teas and your choice of coffee, cappuccino, lattes etc…I enjoy accommodations where the website photos are true to what you receive upon arrival. The two bedroom apartment which we originally booked for our party of 3 is only accessible via outside steep stairs. This was not suitable for 2 senior travel companions that I was travelling with. To the best of my knowledge, this information was not listed on the property website or perhaps I didn’t read it close enough. Other than that the property was outstanding.
