- Stacy (7/5): Welcoming environment, great food, friendly and knowledgeable hosts, cute room =great time! - The breakfast was yummy and plentiful. The environment was pleasant and friendly. The pullout couch was very uncomfortable. I think an "egg crate" cushion would negate that issue nicely.
- Kathleen (5/5): - The owners were wonderful and the location was well suited for our visit The property requires upkeep. The price paid that led us to believe that the B&B would be a more well-kept. Our alternative at the Silverado Resort was more reasonably priced option with better accomodations.
- Jeromey (10/5): -
- Hanna (10/5): - Amazon place we stumbled on ! The food and people are so friendly and it is a beautiful location as well
- Ethan (10/5): - Wonderful hosts and beautiful property
- theresa (9/5): Loved it and would stay again, fabulous place!! - Loved the old-school charm, the warm furnishings, the owners Dennis and Marjorie, and the breakfasts! They were amazing, fresh and so delicious!! The tub was a challenge for a shorter person.
- Liberty (9/5): Two wonderful days at Bear Flag Inn - Marjorie and Dennis are excellent hosts. They made us feel at home right away. We met some very nice and fun people, which is why we love B&B's. The breakfast both days was delicious and hot. We will definitely return. There was nothing we didn't like.
- David (10/5): - Was lovely place and an incredible breakfast!
- Bev (9/5): Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Dennis &Marjorie. - Great location with beautiful vines at the front. Great views from bedroom across to valley to the mountains.
Some beautiful furniture, comfy bed and the most wonderful hosts.
To end our stay a fabulous breakfast.
Highly recommend. Shower was too powerful for me but my husband loved it.

- Jane (10/5): Delightful people, cabin and food. - We were in a very cute cabin. We were offered wine and the best goat cheese with apricot jam crackers. Yum! The hosts are delightful. The breakfasts were amazing and a nice way to meet other guests. Sorry our visit at the property was short due wedding activities. Like everything… but the exterior could use a paint job.
- Perlmutter (10/5): - It is a lovely older house. Dennis and Georgia were delightful hosts and the breakfasts were first rate. The location was convenient to both Napa and Sonoma. We had a great weekend. As always the bed was not as comfortable as the one back home. One of the rooms had a bathroom across the hall.

- Craig (9/5): Charming B&B in the heart of Wine Country. - A very charming house and fun and gracious hosts. The food and wine were excellent and the hosts had many recommendations and knew a lot of history about the area. I think the rooms are very cute ans spacious and the location is great. Beautiful grounds and facilities. I will be back.

- Akio (10/5): - There are very friendly. It like family.
- Barbara (10/5): Great couple running a BnB and very homey feeling. - Privately owned by an older couple, rooms were clean and comfortable. The couple were very friendly and had wine and cheese and 4:30 for us and made Eggs Benedict for breakfast. They have a pool and hot tub and a patio outside on their private 3.5 acre property. It’s more of a home feeling than upscale for those wanted expensive luxury. But I prefer the quiet and no crowd when I’m done being out all day.
- Earnest (10/5): Owners are very accommodating even let us check in early. Breakfast was great. Overall had a great experience. - Owners are very accommodating even let us check in early. Breakfast was great. Overall had a great experience.

- Benjamin (10/5): Absolutely awesome - Everything! The owners tied the place together! Dennis and Marjorie are the best. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The hosts were kind and the breakfasts were awesome! The property is so beautiful surrounded by lush greenery!!
- William (10/5): - This is an adult Inn, meaning no children under 18. Exactly what I needed. Very warm and inviting place. Dennis and his wife are quite the hosts. When I said I would be arriving late, they said there will be cold bottled water in the outside fridge. There was. I felt like I was coming home even though I had never been here. The atmosphere is quiet, natural, and calm. Just what I needed to decompress from the wedding I was attending. The stars shining over the vineyard at night is such a relaxing place to enjoy some time or wine. Dennis makes his own and has a great reputation in the valley. There is a pool, which I imagine would be nice, if there wasnt so much more to do in the daytime. Breakfast was an eggs benedict and fruit spread treat. I stuffed myself with the best eggs benedict I have ever had! Its communal dining, so I was thrilled to speak with fellow travellers. The bed was more than comfortable and the shower was clean and stocked with shampoo and soap. I really cant say enough. Dennis was so nice. I told I wasnt drinking this weekend and he made sure to get me some non alchoholic beer without me even asking! I had a tear in my eye when I had to leave, and a yearning to make it back here soon. Its very centrally located to all the other vineyards. Its about 15 mins door to door, and just far enough from the frenzy. Book this place! You wont regret it! P.S. I stayed in the Peter Storm room. That stained glass bear is a rendition of his award winning California flag.
- Mitzi (6/5): Homey quaint Victorian with great full breakfast. No value for money in Napa valley but good rustic location and - A pleasant honey Victorian house on the edge of winery property with upstairs bedroom and good breakfast. Rude guest kept her barking dog in the car to awaken others at early morning time. This guest admitted she knew her dog was a barker. Host refused to do anything or support my complaint and they are former dog breeders. I do not expect pour animal care at a stay.
- Noriko (9/5): If the surrounding has a clear sign, it.is.easy.to find - The owner changed our room because.the.room.didn't have a washroom. I like.tje.owmer. The surrounding has lots.of wild grasses. It made us difficult to.find the place.
- Bobbie (10/5): Exceptional - Dennis and Marge have a wonderful Inn, they where great warming hospitality and welcoming. Great breakfast, and the coffee is exceptionally good. We enjoyed our stay and short distances to Castllio di Amorosa. We loved our tour and enjoyed the wine tasting and the views of the beautiful foothills. Thank you! sincerely appreciate your welcoming.
- Gloria (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): - A very quiet and relaxing place with very gracious and friendly hosts. We’ll be back!
- Glen (8/5): Very good - Most delicious breakfasts (4), and the chickens were great entertainment. Thanks so much, Glen and Kathleen.
- Regina (10/5): The owners are delightful folks, wonderful hosts and made eggsceptional breakfasts on both mornings we were there. Bed w - Good location not far from places to go to. Hot tub wasn’t hot. Maybe it’s probably not a good idea to have the cover off if the water is to be kept warm.
- Daniel (9/5): Great B&B Inn - Great hospitality and friendliness. Breakfast was yummy. Room and comfortable and clean. Quiet for relaxation. Would highly recommend staying here! N/A
- Sheryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- david (10/5): - Slightly dated property but friendliness of older proprietors and knowledge of area more than make up for this. Welcoming happy hour wine with wonderful stories combined with awesome breakfast make this a place to stay in Calistoga.
- Katheryn (10/5): Lovely place to stay in wine country - Lovely and very cozy property. Delicious breakfast and such a nice wine hour. Marge and her husband are the sweetest hosts and so welcoming. 100% recommend.
- Alan (10/5): The Bear Flag Inn is everything you could want in a Calistoga country inn. - Perfect bed & breakfast inn, a very nice change from the typical AirBnB experience. Hospitable hosts, delicious farm-fresh breakfast, romantic but not overboard decor. The inn is set back from the road among fruit trees and vineyards, just minutes from downtown Calistoga. We didn't get a chance to use the pool or hot tub, but it's a for-real pool, not a little motel pool. Great stay, great value,
- Natalie (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (10/5): - What a terrific house!! Our hosts were amazing, breakfast was so delicious, and happy hour turned into four hours! We are looking forward to going back!
- Jason (10/5): - Fantastic place from which to stay and explore wine country! This property is beautiful with a ton of character, the owners are incredibly accommodating and friendly, breakfast is delicious, and you’re only a few minutes away from downtown Calistoga: lots of wine, restaurants, and shops. Highly recommended, we’ll be back for sure!
- Emiko (10/5): - This is a perfect place to stay over the weekend.
Very relaxing and enjoyable estate!
Breakfast is excellent
We thank Dennis for letting us pick up some figs from his tree. We had a great time.
- Troy (10/5): - Such a unique and lovely property, such kind and caring owners. The breakfasts were incredible. The property is gorgeous, with so many different trees and plants and flowers, a vineyard, and views of the mountains. Tucked away so it feels quiet and reserved, yet close to all the needed services and town. We will be back!
- Ann (10/5): - The hosts were very hospitable, and the breakfasts were amazing!
- Sheri Lynn (10/5): - Dennis and Marge were excellent hosts. I spent 7 nights and felt very much at home by day two. Good breakfast, accommodated my dietary needs with ease and grace. Great friends and neighbors!
- Sunwoo (8/5): - This is a cottage like bed and breakfast run by lovely couple Dannis and Marjorie. Wine is served at 5pm, and heartful breakfast at 9am. The rooms are in 1900s style conditions, mostly clean except the cottage room.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Beautiful place and perfect location.
- RON (8/5): - Very Friendly Innkeepers, quiet and relaxing
- Martha (10/5): - I spent three days in the country at Bear Flag Inn. It was comfortable, beautifuly decorated with friendly innkeepers, and delicious breakfasts in the sunroom. Also, a large pool with a friendly cat welcoming you.
- Carlos (10/5): - Our stay was very delightful. Dennis and Marjorie are great host.
- John (10/5): Calistoga Sept 2021 - Quaint and affordable compared to other B&B's or hotels. Location good for wineries. Set in a vineyard, owners very nice. Make sure you check that room has private bath, some do not (ours did). No real complaints, would stay again.
- Michelle (10/5): - A lovely home and warm and gracious hosts. Absolutely delicious breakfasts, a real treat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dennis and Marjorie were great hosts.
- Jenna (10/5): Awesome stay at a classic B&B - We loved our weekend getaway to Calistoga here! I hadn't stayed at a real Bed & Breakfast in awhile and Bear Flag Inn reminded me of why I need to seek them out more often! The house was lovely and cozy, and our room was clean and spacious. The hosts were beyond wonderful! Not only was breakfast delicious each morning, but they also offered a happy hour of wine and cheese on the back patio in the evenings. One evening, we ended up chatting with the hosts (Dennis and Marge) and enjoying wine with them for a few hours, it was one of the highlights of our trip! I definitely recommend staying here and am hoping we can visit again one day!
- Sergio (10/5): AMAZING stay at Bear Flag Inn - AMAZING experience staying at Bear Flag Inn… Thank you to Dennis & Marjorie for making our stay very special! The daily breakfast was amazing! From freshly made waffles with fresh fruit to exquisite eggs benedict! Will come back soon!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice place and friendly hosts
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Charming old farmhouse on a vineyard just minutes away from downtown Calistoga. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast, quiet and comfortable. It's old fashioned, like going back in time, so not for everyone. Our room was air conditioned, so nice and cool in the hot summer.
- JOHN (10/5): Warm and friendly - Dennis and Marge were wonderful hosts, warm and friendly. Breakfast was wonderful and their hospitality left us feeling like they appreciated us. They gave us great recommendations for wineries to visit and we look forward to returning again this summer or fall.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Owners/operators very friendly and down to earth. Excellent breakfasts! Comfortable rooms. Very good location.
- Ivan (10/5): Great getaway in cute B&B! - We had a lovely stay at this cute B&B. We are from the city and it was nice feeling like we were someplace rural with the chickens and trees, but yet close to the downtown Calistoga. We were able to bike here to downtown. Dennis and Marjorie were extremely friendly and hospitable. We had great conversations. The breakfast was phenomenal. Wine is offered at 5. Room is clean and tidy with a beautiful rustic feel. We felt right at home!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Margery and Dennis are wonderful hosts! We loved talking to them and hearing their stories. We stayed in the cottage and loved it. The TV is small but we didn't want to use it anyway. There is no refrigerator, micro, coffee maker, etc. in the cottage but you can use the ones in the house, which we did. Hot tub was nice. We used it 2 of the 3 nights we were there. The breakfasts are out of this world! We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and were gone all day exploring. When we returned to the cottage, they had champagne on ice and champagne flutes there waiting for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a wonderful place to relax and unwind! the breakfast and company both days were wonderful. So glad we used a driving service to show us around, we went to the best wineries we have ever been to!!(Wine Tour Drivers)
- patricia (10/5): cozy and comfortable - Very cozy and comfortable B&B. The location is very convenient to many wineries. Tranquil and peaceful. Breakfast is very substantial and excellent with beautiful presentation. Owners go out of their way to make you feel at home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So cute and lovely, perfect location and lovely bed and breakfast. Food is great, just what we were looking for.
- Jeff (8/5): - Excellent location and owners made us feel like family with amazing coffee and breakfast each morning plus there were chickens running around which we love. Wished the pool and hot tub area would of been more inviting as a quick dip would of been perfect.
- Adam (10/5): - Dennis and Marge are amazing hosts with a beautiful property. We enthusiastically recommend and would stay here again.
- Carla (10/5): - We loved staying at the Bear Flag Inn with Dennis and Margorie. It was clean and quaint, and the hosts were welcoming and warm. We were greeted with a glass of wine and nice conversation. Dennis went over the ins and outs of Calistoga, what to do, what to avoid, and how to use the amazing shuttle service. Margorie made us an amazing breakfast the next day. Eggs, bacon, fruits, juice, and tons of coffee.
Coming from the east coast, we were awake very early. There was coffee ready to make and we sat outside enjoying the chickens. It was a very tranquil stay.
We stayed in the room with the separate bathroom, which at first we weren't sure if that would be convenient. It turned out fine, just across the hall was the doors and we had a key so only we would use it. It probably was larger than the other bathrooms, we were very comfortable.
My only regret was that we had to leave early the second morning and couldn't stay for another breakfast!
- Larry (10/5): Bear flag inn wonderful - Claw foot rub was cool. But little hard to get in and out of if. Only one room uses it. Every other aspect was wonderful especially the hosts
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a lovely Bed and Breakfast. A true gem. The property is beautiful and it feels like you are staying in their house. Every morning the breakfast was amazing. The hosts were great and friendly. Would highly recommend staying there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Home Away from Home with Great Hosts! - We enjoyed our stay here recently. It is not your typical bed and breakfast, both Dennis and Marge are open to sitting down and chatting while having wine with you every afternoon, complete with snacks. They are also very warm and accommodating, making breakfast for you according to any dietary restrictions or preferences you may have. Breakfast is served in their beautiful sunroom every morning at 9am (or earlier if needed), overlooking the vineyard outside.
The room we stayed in was the Lovina which had it's own private entrance that looked out into the vineyard. The room was clean, with an extra sofa bed for sitting on and a claw-footed bathtub in the bathroom. The lighting was also good and it had a couple of robes, slippers, and beach towels (for the pool located outside in a gated section).
I love how the Bear Flag Inn is located away from downtown (but not too far). It was nice to see the vineyard and nature around us. There are chickens that wander the grounds as well as three cats and a friendly black lab. The one cat, Blue, loved to stay near the cottage backdoor and greeted us whenever we came by.
We also appreciated Marge driving us to downtown when the Calistoga Shuttle did not answer our call to pick us up (they are a bit hard to reach these days). We were worried we would miss our bike tour and did not have time to walk so Marge was a sweetie and immediately drove us there. We look forward to staying here again when we visit Calistoga!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable place, quiet, with a pool and hot tub. And the breakfast was amazing!
- NEIRA (10/5): Perfect - This place was perfect! Loved the location in Calistoga. Our room had a view of the vineyards. Breakfast was great. Would recommend and would stay again if I return to Napa in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really lovely people, room, and atmosphere. Cozy and welcoming. Good bed. Added bonus: chickens!
- rod (10/5): A Grand little B&B. - It was a very enjoyable stay. Our hosts were amazing and really added to the great experience. Dennis and his wife were very open and enthusiastically shared their local knowledge of things to do and places to go. The breakfasts were amazing as well as accommodating to special dietary needs and concerns. There were a few children visiting along with my party and Dennis made sure all had their fill of his hot chocolate which he seemed to take great pride in. We will definitely revisit this grand little Gem of a B&B.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We only stayed one night at the Bear Flag Inn, but really enjoyed it and would happily have stayed longer if it had fit with our travel plans. We needed to check-in early in order to make the timing work with some other plans we had and the owners were extremely accommodating. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and clean. The breakfast was excellent!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A cute and quaint bed and breakfast. Lovely countryside / farmhouse themed decor. Everything was
- James (10/5): Impressive - This little place is very nice, clean and comfortable. The service is great and the owners treat you like family. I highly recommend the Bear Flag Inn.
- patricia (10/5): Home away from home - Wonderful in every way! Comfortable beds, delicious breakfast, wine and snacks in the evening. The host and hostess are very friendly and welcome you into their home making you feel like family.
- M (10/5): - Lovely Bed and Breakfast with an extra yummy breakfast. The owners are nothing but warm, welcoming and wonderful hosts. We are definitely looking forward to our next stay.
- Paula (10/5): A Quiet Gem! - Dennis and Margorie were wonderful hosts making us feel completely welcome at The Bear Flag Inn. My husband and I have stayed in many inns and this is among the nicest - warm, friendly, comfortable and quiet setting. The dogs, cats and chickens even said hello.
The bed was so comfy after a long day on our feet, breakfast was excellent with eggs fresh from the above chickens and fruit beautifully laid out and delicious. In the afternoon we were invited to have wine and snacks with the owners and fellow guests, before heading out to dinner. Lovely and low key - a throwback to what inns should be!
- margaret (8/5): Charming - Stayed here on a quick trip to Napa. We were pretty busy so didn't spend too much time there. The owners are friendly, the breakfast is very nice. There are chickens in the yard which was fun - and the eggs at breakfast very fresh. It's a big old comfy house, nicely decorated, lots of books and antiques.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dennis and Marge are fantastic hosts! They have a lovely property with a location that is an easy drive to the other downtowns. The breakfast is wonderful - we were lucky enough to eat delicious egg Benedicts and fruit from the property. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
- Kevin M (10/5): - Dennis and Marge were great . Very accommodating. Nice spot. Would stay there again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Mediocre accommodations for a premium price - The proprietors were nice but they are up there in age, which I only mention because it has an impact on the service, cleanliness, and appearance of the space. Some of the furnishings and condition of things are quite old/dated (old bed, old worn couch with water stains on the threadbare upholstery, etc). For the money, one should expect a bit nicer and more comfortable furnishings. Lots of spider webs around the room, the yard is nice but not kept up, the pool had leaves in it and the hot tub had the cover half on). It just seemed like full energy wasn’t invested in paying attention to the details. Breakfast was good, but nothing special (although the eggs come directly from the chickens on the property). Again, the proprietors were nice (despite one or two off-color comments one sometimes gets from people of an older generation). Not worth paying more than $140-$150 per night.
- Bill (10/5): - Very warm pleasant environment. Almost like visiting with friendly relatives !
- Deborah (6/5): - We should have been told in advance that they had dogs. What if guests were allergic?!
The hosts were very nice but it was not quite what we expected. We didn’t see or hear about the advertised exercise center.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Bear Flag Inn is Napa - the way it used to be! And I mean that in the best sense. Wonderful hosts, very comfortable, clean B&B full of cozy funishings. The hosts brought us wine and snacks the afternoon of our stay, and we got to know him and the other guests (the cabernet sauvignon is from grapes they grow on the property!) The breakfast was wonderful - eggs benedict - from their own chickens, YUM! We made our reservations 3 nights before our stay, on Presidents' Day weekend, so we were lucky to get the last room. The room - The Sherwood Room - itself was very nicely furnished, but the bathroom for it was down the hall (only a minor inconvenience), and the room itself was located right above the livingroom, and other guests were enjoying themselves downstairs - and it was a bit noisy. So - that's what you get when you make your reservations late!
