JennieW87 (8/5): Beautiful hotel, shame about the spa experience. - We booked a spa, dinner and overnight stay package and really enjoyed it. The hotel is really lovely, clean, modern and the staff, especially in the dining room were really fantastic. Great breakfast too! The only disappointment was the spa. It was completely overrun with children with sadly zero monitoring. They were in all the facilities they weren’t allowed in and no one was doing a thing about it. We stayed for 30 mins and then swiftly left. The massage was amazing though! My advice would be that if you’re booking this with an adult spa experience in mind, this is definitely not the right spot! But for everything else, it’s lovely.

While the lunch was very nice, the spa facilities were completely unacceptable and far below the standard expected of a 4-star hotel. The cleanliness was extremely poor – debris in the pool, hair in the showers, and bins overflowing with used towels and robes. Basic hygiene standards were clearly not being maintained. We felt uncomfortable and left early as we were unable to properly use the facilities. What was equally disappointing was the handling of the complaint. Despite providing photographic evidence, the concerns were not taken seriously. A minimal refund was issued without agreement, which does not reflect the experience. As a local customer, this is particularly disappointing. Standards should not drop regardless of promotions or how busy it is. Overall, a very poor experience and not one I would return to
Narcissiyellow (10/5): Really excellent value - Really excellent value hotel. Most of the rooms are alike, and we found our room to be clean and perfectly adequate although a coffee machine would have been nice rather than instant coffee in a sachets. Nice to find a bath in the bathroom rather than a just a shower, also bathrobes in the wardrobe was a nice find. Be aware it’s quite a walk from reception to most of the rooms and the lift only goes up one floor meaning quite a walk to the majority of the rooms including a lot of stairs. If you have mobility issues you may want to mention this at the time of booking. The breakfast was adequate – help yourself buffet with the usual pastries, fruit, juices and yoghurt. Coffee and tea are also help yourself – if you want anything other than filter coffee or tea you have to order it and pay extra. There was also a hot buffet with the usual eggs and bacon etc. We found the Staff to be very friendly, in particular the bar and restaurant staff. Bar staff were busy making cocktails - however when we tried to order a martini we were told we could only order a cocktail from the menu- I’m guessing the bar staff knowledge of cocktails only runs to what is on the menu. The cocktails we eventually chose were pleasant enough but also very sweet – perhaps the average customer has a very sweet tooth? The spa was a nice addition although sadly we were unable to book a spa treatment as they were fully booked - so a tip would be to pre-book one of these before your visit. Again, very friendly staff at the spa. It was very busy on the two occasions we visited - probably because the spa is also open to non-residents. The pool is surrounded by loungers- it would have been nice to sit and relax be beside the pool but unfortunately every single lounger had been ‘reserved’ with a towel. The sauna and steam room are quite small and were overcrowded on both occasions when we visited. Overall a pleasant stay at a reasonable price.
amandarich123 (10/5): Lodge stay - Wow. What can I say! We stayed as a family in one of the lodges to celebrate a birthday. Safe to say, it was definitely the best choice as everything was just perfect. The lodge was clean, modern and had the best views over the fields. The bedrooms were a brilliant size with big family bathrooms. The hotel itself is really well maintained with lovely staff, who were always willing to help. The spa was also amazing, brilliant changing rooms, and a warm pool. We will definitely be returning ❤️

The chalet - absolutely top notch, warm, in very good condition, well equipped, quiet - what more can I say, it was perfect. The pool - excellent, friendly staff, great changing rooms, water nice and warm, all just as we wanted it. We opted for breakfast in the hotel - one of the best I have had in a long time - superb quality, great variety and very nice staff. This hotel is a credit to Cornwall
S3974FQrebeccaw (2/5): Spa experience and lunch - My husband and I went recently for a spa and lunch, the weather was amazing and we were really looking forward to going. The spa was very nice and then we went to lunch, we both had soup for our starter and I can honestly say it was awful, bland and no seasoning and if I didn’t know it was mushroom I couldn’t have guessed it eas also warm and not hot so not a great start. Then came our mains, I had the sweet potato curry….again so bland and tasteless not what you would want in a curry and the rice was moulded together and very hard to eat and again it was lukewarm, consequently I left most of mine. My husband had a pasta dish and it was only markedly better. We also had asked if we could sit outside to eat as it was a lovely day and was told that they were not serving food outside so imagine my surprise when we left to find people eating food outside! It would not have improved the food but at least we would have had some sun. I must take some responsibility as I did not voice my dismay at the poor quality meal at the time but we were also not asked how we found the food so maybe that was telling. We both came away vowing not to return as it was one of the worst meals we have had in a very long time.

538joanneb (10/5): Lovely, well priced, one night winter break - Took advantage of the one night winter break offer for the hotel. We were given a deluxe room with balcony, room no 217, looking over the front of the hotel towards the woodland. Had everything you needed, comfy beds and powerful shower. Spotlessly clean, with a fridge, tea/coffee/bottled water/biscuits. We used the spa and although there were workmen working on the big sliding doors to the garden, it didn’t spoil our time there. Lovely warm pool, steam room and sauna. Fresh water to drink, poolside, which I love. Two course evening meal came as part of the package. Very impressed by the menu, I had difficulty choosing what to have. Staff were attentive. You pay as you go for extras and 10% service charge was added to these. Breakfast was plentiful, buffet style and covered all bases. Continually replenished. We were very happy with the choices. All in all a very good stay, over too quickly, would have stayed longer.
netty_8 (8/5): Nice place - Stayed here for 3 nights . We was given a up grade to a room with a balcony. Lovely room . Check in was easy. Had a snack from the bar. Bit pricey. Nice swimming pool and sauna, steam room . Don’t take your room towels swimming. They supply them when you get there. You are given a card for the locker to use. I felt the bed was too soft for me. Breakfast was ok apart from the heated food which was just lukewarm.
Guide03045485969 (10/5): No words for the spa!😍🫧🧖🏼‍♀️ - No words for the spa!😍 I costed here today with my grandma, I had booked the ‘weekly wind down ’ package which was only £60 per person with full spa access and a treatment.🫧 We felt very looked after at the spa, the staff were lovely and accommodating towards us, the pool area was stunning and our treatments were perfect!🧖🏼‍♀️ I had a facial and massage and my grandma had a head and neck massage with a lovely therapist called Tori, we both would highly recommend her🫶🏼
Tracy423 (2/5): Terrible - Room was a bit dated,my daughter an I decided on room service as both tired from our journey,there was a very very limited menu 3 meals to choose from,no sandwiches allowed until after 9pm so i quess you go hungry if there isn't any thing you like on the room service menu!!! And after ringing reception to ask for 2 Cappuccinos we were told you can't have the Cappuccinos in the room? Not told the reason why,?? There was no amenities hardly any sugars 1 sachet of coffee and 2 little milk packet things...We ordered room service breakfast costing an extra £6 for the delight!!! we ordered eggs benidick well the muffins had seen better days,thet were rock hard and the eggs were cold when they arrived needless to say we didn't eat any of it,the McDonald's style cup the breakfast coffee came in was awful and so was the coffee... Very disappointing we won't be returning.......
689leonardb (10/5): 2nd visit still enjoyable stay & worth a visit - Stayed for 1 night back in October 2024 ,enjoyed it then ,so returned for 2 nights valentine's weekend ,had package including evening dinner ,on both nights we enjoyed the meals ,1st night chose off the main menu which was fantastic, valentine's night chose off the special menu , seafood platter which included lobster , scallops, mussels etc ,it was nice but not as good as our roast cod on 1st night in our opinion.breakfast choice is good ,service & staff are all excellent .One annoying thing is you can't charge drinks to room , it's a pay as you go at the bar & restaurant,which is unusual for this class of hotel !! Room's are really nice well equipped,pool & spa area are a short outside walk from hotel , dressing gowns are provided so can wear them to spa if weather permits .Pool area is very nice .Plenty of parking available.Worth a visit .
aandj7 (10/5): Quality in every part of the stay - We have just returned from a short 2 day break at The Cornwall Hotel and it was wonderful. Quality at every step. From the welcome and support of the team in all areas; the quality of the rooms, towels, robes and of sleep; the food at breakfast and dinner; the excellent spa pool; and simply the peace and ambiance of the who stay. A 5 star experience ! Very worth a visit and a return.
jofunkyfacepainter (10/5): Room 104 - The Clementina Junior Suite - We stayed in Room 104 (Clementina) junior suite for 2 nights. It’s in the old part of the main house. Loved the original window shutters (you need to close those and the curtains at nights as the external house 🏠 lights shine in). The dinners are excellent and well presented. Staff a delight The spa is busy with day guests so I went at 7am when it opened and it’s great then. Close to Eden project which we enjoyed.

helenjB6973VA (10/5): Excellent spa day experience - exceptional customer service - Came here on a Travelzoo deal. Really impressed. We had spa time, 2 short treatments and a cream tea. The spa treatments and cream tea were both excellent. The pool and spa facilities were a little bit busy (all those people like me with vouchers!!) but remarkably clean and well equipped - nothing i saw was broken or out of stock (unlike other bigger name spas I’ve been to). Walking through the hotel to get our cream tea, we could see that the hotel looked like it had been recently refurbished, immaculate and stylish. But the main thing that made our experience stand out was the service. Every single person we met was incredible. If they have paid for customer service training they certainly got their moneys worth. If they haven’t, they should start delivering it.
patrickcJ9151NJ (2/5): robbed blind in a crisis - I had a stranded 60-year-old mother who left Brighton earlier today before the storm warning came through to us! she couldn’t get into Mevagissey due to fallen tree & has been driving for 6 hours! so turned around as I mentioned going the Cornwall hotel and Spa on Sunday! upon arrival there she was asking if she can warm up and make contact with me as her phone isn’t working, as more trees fell there was no road she could have taken to get away from the Cornwall! the night porter had no working credit card machines, and no heated rooms available, however instructed by a night manager her took her emergency £100 cash to go to a room to get dry that has no electricity , no bedding, no working shower, or working phone anyway! i’m gobsmacked at this! as she arrived at our cottage morning crying & in need of a shower and some heating! the only thing worse than Storm Goretti? this disgusting greed & lack of compassion or support!
Razzer7 (6/5): New Years Eve Good but could have been fantastic - 6 of us went to The Cornwall for New Years Eve dinner, food was excelent staff helpful and friendly, fire works fantastic and the nice little touches drinks with fireworks. T The one thing that let the evening down was it was advertised as a 80s 90s disco which it wasnt the music was more suitable for a club vibe and people in there 20s I would say the majority of people there were over 40 lots of people not getting up to dance and moaning about the choice of D.J's who seemed more like enjoying the night between themselves as swopping who did the tracks and then dancing. Music is such an important part of the evening and they just got it so wrong and totally unable to "read" their audience and this could have made a good evening into a great one.
Seaside25437283038 (6/5): A little disappointing. - This was our sixth and last Christmas lunch at the venue and while the staff and service were exemplary the food itself left a lot to be desired, the sprouts were rock hard and the slab of stuffing similar to that served in a cheap pub with a free pint was horrible and sent back untouched. The dessert was bland and tasteless and we both felt quite upset about the whole experience, similar complaints were heard from a large group when collecting coats from the foyer so we feel the need to now complain and hope things will get rectified for other guests in the future.
uktraveller-family (6/5): Nice hotel, not very accommodating staff, poor service - We recently stayed for two nights over New Year at The Cornwall. The hotel itself is attractive, with lovely grounds, spacious rooms and a nice pool - on the surface, it feels like a 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, the lack of attention to detail and the standard of service from some staff bring it closer to a 2–3 star experience. I also wouldn’t describe it as child-friendly. Before arriving, I phoned to ask whether we could book breakfast on New Year’s Day and was told yes, with a small surcharge on the day. However, when we arrived for breakfast, we were abruptly told “no” and refused entry as we hadn’t pre-booked. Our 5-year-old was very hungry, yet the staff member (the operations manager - Hannah I think was her name?) was defensive, grumpy and completely unwilling to help. I even asked if I could simply make a piece of toast for my child - this was refused several times before she reluctantly allowed it, clearly unhappy to do so. When I later tried to discuss the issue, there was no apology or acknowledgement that incorrect information had been given over the phone. Instead, I was told they were being “very accommodating” because they had already served 140 guests - which is hardly comforting when you’re standing there with a hungry child. Ironically, our 5-year-old later asked why we couldn’t just take breakfast to our room, highlighting a lack of basic initiative from staff. I also raised this with reception, hoping for a solution, but was simply asked for our room number and nothing further was done. If tables were genuinely full (I did notice at least one empty), allowing food to be taken to the room would have been an obvious and simple fix. Other negatives: - Single beds are very small and uncomfortable - Lunch menu sounded good but food was mediocre - Long wait times to order at the bar - Security concern: returning to our ground-floor room on the second night, we found the patio door open, despite not having used it - unsettling with a young child There may be positives, but this experience left such a sour taste that they’re hard to appreciate. If you’re happy to keep your head down and accept minimal service, this hotel may suit you. If you expect good service, flexibility, or staff willing to go the extra mile, there are far better options nearby.
609busterg (6/5): Disappointing - The roast dinner was very tasty, but there simply wasn't enough of it. I am female, size 8, and I left the venue hungry; that's not good. One slice of beef, one potato, quartered, half a roasted carrot, half a roasted parsnip, a scoop of red cabbage, a scoop of shredded green cabbage, and four barely cooked sprouts (which you needed to anchor, else they would fly away on cutting), and no cauliflower cheese (as advertised). Proper disappointed to be honest, I won't be visiting again. On the upside, it tasted nice; not the best, but tasty enough. I've had far worse, but nobody has left me hungry before. Not enough choice on sweet, either. I don't like Christmas Pudding, or cheesecake, so had default ice cream trio Don't leave your guests hungry!

The food however wasn't, disappointing to say the very least. Albeit the soup was good, but thats where it ended. The crab beignets were as far from the sea as Birmingham. Tasteless and doughy. Both mains came out luke warm and had to be sent back. They both came out again hot, but the content of the lamb rump and celeriac steak was poor. I'd hazard a guess at 50g of lamb. £5.50 for fries. We had the service charge revoked for good reason. Such a shame

Everyone very friendly and helpful, the room was beautifully clean, tidy and spacious. The location is great for exploring local attractions but also a peaceful haven to get away from the hustle and bustle when needed. We particularly enjoyed the spa pool and visited each day with our daughters. The massages were also very good we both thoroughly enjoyed. We only have good things to say about the hotel, staff and our stay.

We had a few complex allergy requirements which the chef and especially our server Craig, dealt with, with kindness, respect and care. We were all delighted with our experience and the food was delicious. We would especially like to say a big thank you to Craig, who was so helpful and considerate to our needs. His humour made us feel like our requirements were no problem for him or the hotel at all. Thank you Craig and all the staff at the hotel. We will be recommending the Hotel to everyone we know.

As you look out over the parkland be prepared for a slight hum from the main hotel extractor fans but these switch off a night for a peaceful rest.

We used the spa once which was nice but a little bit too cold and the sauna wasn’t working. Which was a shame. But all in all a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

I would give 4 stars for the hotel but for the foods definitely 5 stars and with this I would like to say my compliments to the chefs! Catch of the day was delicious! And all the other foods we had. The hotel is cosy, lovely staffs. The room was quite spacious with beautiful view. The ladies from reception very welcoming and friendly. They supported us during our stay with any information we needed. The Hotel has a gym, swimming pool and spa. Very good to relax after a day of exploring the city.

The room was clean, spacious and contained a rollaway bed as well as a comfortable large queen sized bed. The bathroom was a good size with modern fittings and a shower over the bath with toiletries provided. Staff in all departments were very friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was cooked to order, very well presented and delicious. The menu catered for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free diets, although was somewhat limited on choice for a longer stay.

We needn’t have worried! Everyone was very welcoming. Our room (134) was spacious with a large balcony and along the corridor on the way to the Spa. We both had treatments form lovely Meg ( facial for me and my husband had a massage) We came out feeling wonderful! The gym and pool were busy and very nice. Dinner was beautifully served and delicious and the breakfasts were amazing. Freshly prepared , I can honestly say the cooled breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had ( and we’ve travelled a lot!) Superb choice in addition from the menu at no extra cost only a supplement for barista coffees. Staff couldn’t do enough for us as well. Hope to be back again in the future.. Thank you everyone! The grounds are spacious and the dogs loved the complimentary treats too as well as the runs all around. Superb dog friendly place that we all enjoyed immensely.

Our room was so clean and spacious, didn’t feel crammed in like you do at some places. The lovely positive attitude of the staff continued, from the relaxing spa to the restaurant and breakfast, everyone was friendly and nothing seemed like too much trouble. We had a couples massage and enjoyed the spa facilities for the afternoon which left us feeling refreshed and wanting to do it all over again. Finally, the food is top notch! Their crème brûlée was heavenly. Thank you so much to all of the staff at The Cornwall Hotel & Spa! You were so great, we’re already talking about when to come back. Sparkseeeee (10/5): A great one night stay... - Booked a 1 night stay here through Secret Escapes which included Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and a bottle of prosecco. It was the Bank Holiday weekend and we couldn't have wished for better weather. Our room wasn't ready as we arrived roughly an hour early so we got a drink from the bar and sat outside. There must have been a function/gathering for a local group of people as the garden area filled up fast, chairs and tables were being rearranged and we thought it was going to be over run for the evening.... this wasn't the case, most had gone by early evening. Our dinner was superb. Food was extremely tasty and well presented. We opted to pay for a dessert ourselves. The choice at breakfast was excellent, the sausages were delicious. I would have preferred to have been served our tea and coffee instead of walking back to where we were seated with 1 cup at a time, but this is just a minor thing that didn't affect our stay. Our room was a good size, a very comfortable bed and the air conditioning was a welcome addition. Staff were extremely friendly both in reception and in the bar and restaurant areas. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and we would definitely stay here again....

We had an evening meal in the resturant which was beautifully cooked and the staff were absolutely brilliant and very accommodating! There was an extensive range and choice, especially at breakfast, and the quality of the meat provided (sausage, bacon in the Cornish breakfast - lamb shank at dinner) was exceptional. Without doubt though, the most impressive and remarkable element of our stay was the calibre of the staff. Polite, warm and friendly, each, and everyone we encountered. Special mention for Hannah and Alfie, both of whom displayed a natural gift for hospitality and complete professionalism. They are an absolute credit and compliment to an outstanding team. We will definitely return to take advantage of another truly enjoyable, relaxing stay.
Alice (6/5): - The staff at the hotel were excellent and keen to help, although the young staff in the restaurant lacked guidance on occasions so that service was a bit disjointed at times. Food cooked in the kitchen was excellent and reasonably good value. The buffet breakfast was poor and surely staff could bring tea and coffee to the table? Having to trek back and forth for a cup of tea at a time was a challenge for many older guests. The hotel seems to be suffering from wanting to expand rapidly whilst not addressing some areas of cleanliness and outdated rooms. Our room was bizarre, with a bathroom in the room which was irritating at best and a loudly dripping shower kept us awake some nights. The walls were scratched and marked and generally tired, although it was all pretty clean. The restaurant loved a mirror but these are obviously not regularly cleaned and so were smeared and there were many cobwebs and dust on the many strange light fittings in all the communal areas. The office, which opens off the entrance foyer, was filthy so perhaps keep the door shut or even give it a clean? This is a pleasant hotel but please don't let greed expand it until it just becomes a holiday park.

Our spacious room was spotless and had a gorgeous view of green everywhere and lush, wafting trees from the balcony. I had a spa treatment with Jess and she was brilliant, reassuring and I really felt in the hands of a professional throughout. It was safe, relaxing and as if they all really cared about creating the right ambience and atmosphere in the spa. Dinner was delicious, my husband had crab and then lamb shank and I had trout and then chicken with pancetta and peas. It was all beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The menu was varied and we could easily have chosen several dishes. Breakfast was also delicious with a varied menu and it was very relaxing. The jewel in the crown of the hotel though is its staff. They were all unfailingly polite, kind, helpful, approachable, friendly and interesting. We’re looking forward to coming back and booking multiple rooms with all the family, it was perfect with wonderful staff and service.

Meals included also have hidden extra costs, so read the small print carefully, as you could receive a fairly hefty surprise bill for a meal you think has already been paid for! Spa was ok, but not sizable enough for the size of the hotel, even though there’s plenty of room on the garden area of the infinity pool for more hot tubs! Lovely view there too! Definitely not worth paying extra for perks, for a supposedly luxury hotel most unhelpful and unwelcoming

Two Eton Mess, one Sorbet. Staff great, special shout out to Craig. He was doing bar, and serving inside and outside!
M1665RBamandah (10/5): A welcome return to a firm favourite - A lovely warm welcome, rooms were made available earlier (housekeeping worked hard to make this happen) and a gorgeous spa treatment (we booked the two night spa package deal, v g value). Dinner was delicious and the service in the restaurant, spa, bar and reception is excellent. Nothing too much trouble, attentive without being intrusive and always friendly and warm. Breakfast was plentiful, large choice and well presented. Everything was spotlessly clean. I needed another room at late notice and the managerial staff were kind and generous in their assistance. The grounds are looking lovely, lots of space to stretch legs. Games for children including badminton, boules and croquet are laid out in readiness every morning. We’ve stayed here several times previously, and we shall assuredly return. A five star relaxing and gorgeous stay.
Sally (10/5): - Such an amazing place to stay. We chose a woodland lodge and it was amazing. It had everything you needed from fridge freezer dishwasher and washing machine with drying facilities for those that like the amenities and options of self catering but on top of that, the whole site has access to the main hotel which offers food and room service no matter what accommodation you choose. At the main hotel there are options for dining and drinking out, outdoor games, light musical entertainment on some days or you can enjoy walking the extensive grounds. The lodge also has towels and bedding, which was regularly refreshed and cleaned by staff. The also have a fantastic spar with various treatments, an access for all infinity pool, towels provided, tennis courts and a gym. The site gardens were beautiful and well maintained by ground men which made the site a beauty peaceful place for an excellent break. I would definitely recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You will be give a room with an intolerable huge extractor fan near your terrace. - We thought a nice night away near Charlestown would enjoyable. We saw the superior rooms with a large terrace at this hotel where we could imagine ourselves sipping prosecco with a nice view on the terrace. When we walked in the room we could hear this huge extra or fan noise directly outside our room near our terrace. You could hear it through the closed patio door. When we opened the door the sound was intolerable. We could not sit on the terrace. Had we not have prepaid we would have left at this point. There was no prosecco in the fridge so I went down to reception to let them know and ask for a room away from the huge extractor fan. I was told that all the dog friendly room were all in the one row near the fan. The fan went on until late late started very early in the morning. Do not book here if you have a dog.

TenOutofTenUK (6/5): Lodge 16 - Whilst ones definition of luxury is subjective, it was hard for us to rate our lodge as "luxury." On arrival, it was 4 minutes before 4 pm. We were told the Lodge wasn't ready and the cleaner had the only key. I waited in reception for her to arrive with the key. Which was a physical key and not a key card. Arriving in our room we noted the key card function was half ripped off the door. No matter the physical key worked. First impression - terrible smell of dog! If you don't have a dog or don't like that dog smell then I would ask for a dog free room. I didn't notice if the hotel keeps some rooms/lodges dog free. The Lodge itself was dated. Brown/grey carpet which made you not want to take your shoes off. On the surface of it the place was tidy and relatively clean. But on closer inspection the bathrooms floors were dirty...hair and dirty grout. Our kitchen had a battered dishwasher (functional - just! The cutlery holder had holes in it so the cutlery fell through). The door covering the washing machine was missing. The oven shelf was clean, but the oven was stained brown. Pillows - lumpy! I thought of Princess and pea but with rocks in your pillow! One evening my husband mistakenly went to number 15 and our key unlocked their Lodge! Aghast we ran out when we realised. Friends were staying in Lodge 5. We decided to test our key on their room. Worryingly our key opened their room, even with the deadbolt locked from the inside! We discovered we had the master key for all lodges! So if you are in Lodge 16 now with a key and not a key card, you will find you can unlock every Lodge. On check out, the receptionist asked how I found out!! Thankfully for all guests there at the same time as us, we are an honest family! Quite shocking that instead of fixing the key card, the hotel gave us the master key. We noted more lodges are being built, which is surprising when the current lodges are in desperate need of a renovation. More cleaning staff are needed for a thorough clean. The good - spa pool is fabulous and warm! The girls on reception are lovely! The staff in the bar are fab as are the restaurant staff. The food (we only ate dinner one night) was fantastic. We enjoyed some drinks on the terrace lawn, which is also lovely if you have the weather and the absolute winner was a performance by the sea Shantymen. The Cornwall has all the ingredients of a fab hotel. It just needs a management team who care about the product and service being offered. It doesn't take much for people to turn their back on hospitality these days!

D1160 (6/5): Not the best in need of TLC - In need of TLC tatty decor in and around hotel,the lift was filthy hand marks etc everywhere it needs a deep clean was like it on arrival and on leaving, our outside decking had splinters and was in need of a powerwash along with the glass and railings too. Had to wipe outside chairs off before sitting down. Patio door in need of a clean and wash. After a shower we realised that we had the handwash in shower and shower wash by sink. Tv kept cutting out and the smallest tv seen in such a big hotel room! Dinner was ok but breakfast not as good,cold bacon over cooked sausage, bake beans were mush, fried egg was awful( they did replace) But worrying was customers having to carry their own hot drinks down a corridor to the dining room with one man almost sending his across the buffet room floor. Check out was a farce with us handing key to the maintenance man as the reception girl was trying sort IT problem. So we could voice our issues as we had to leave. Sadly was not as good as what we’ve known .
Mark (10/5): Better than going abroad - It was very relaxing and enjoyable the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and the pool was just as we remembered it looking out side apart from the trees were bigger and this time we sat out side in the sun just like going abroad but a lot cheaper.
Michael (6/5): Needs a revamp - Hotel is dated and in my opinion would need an overhaul to bring it up to standard I would liked to have seen for the nightly rate paid. It was in a great location, food was good, public areas good it was really the bedrooms and balcony’s and the absence of a lift further than the 1st floor that let it down. Staff were friendly and very efficient.
473daddyb (8/5): Great. 👍 - 40th birthday celebration. Arrival was great, receptionist seemed a little bored, but explained everything we needed to know. Stayed for 3 nights and included 3 meals and 3 breakfasts included in a secret escapes deal. Total cost £600. Our room on the second floor, big, dark, clean and well presented. Although mould on curtains needed looking at. Beds comfortable but 2 singles pushed together. The water pressure in the shower was non existent, so we used the showers at the spa(great) Really enjoyed every meal, the lamb succulent, the burger was delicious, and all the breakfast we had was warm, clean and worth the money. The hotel does need a small revamp in the communal areas, but this is something we can overlook. The spa/pool and amenities are wonderful, but again some tlc needed. Our Massages were great two, a pregnancy massage for my wife, and a full body for me.. very relaxing, and one of the main reasons we chose to holiday in Cornwall. Rather than spending hours on a plane.. the weather and Charlestown were excellent too, which has helped.
average_jo_veggie (6/5): Overpriced for run down rooms - We have stayed at the hotel several times and enjoy the large, dog friendly rooms with a balcony amongst the trees. This time, however, we were very disappointed at the standard of the room. The first impression was of a very ripped and stained carpet - see my photos. Additionally the room was overall just a bit rundown and outdated, which is not the end of the world, but certainly not what you expect for £245 plus dog fee. We complained about the carpet and were told that they are refurbishing the carpets in the rooms but due to it being peak season this is slow (I did wonder why they were doing this on peak season because the tears and stains certainly did not look new!). There were no other dog friendly rooms available and so they offered a discount of 25% on the room which we accepted. It is a shame because we will consider elsewhere in future. The balcony was also very worn.
433tiffanyp (8/5): Lovely hotel, but could do with some TLC!! - We enjoyed out stay, but were disappointed at the lack of attention to detail. It's lovely location. We had a room on the 2nd floor and we think this gave the best views as you could see over the buildings. The room was great, spacious, bed was comfy- although had dip in middle where they joined them together. But didn't bother us. Chairs were comfy. Had all you needed. Balcony was starting to look tired, rotten wood and chairs, but didn't impact our stay. Tv had limited channels, but wasn't issue for us. Bathroom, a let down by the shower not working, assured it would be fixed first thing. It wasn't, we had to use showers at spa. Not really practical. Frustrating that the hotel didn't recognise the impact. It was fixed by our 2nd night. Things like the toilet roll holder being broken and sealant coming on. Just seems a bit tired. Missing towels following room service. Breakfast- good proper breakfast buffett style good quality, stuffed for the day! 10/10. Dinner, good service, but perhaps not on par with other fine dinning. I like fast sevice, but my mouth was still full from starter when they bought out mains. Steak was disappointing, not the best cut, not sealed before cooking and not caramelised onions as said on menu. Starter great, pudding great. The hotel booked us in for 845, but we felt we were being rushed so they could finish. We thought drinks were well priced. Spa was basic. Starting to look tired and had that funny damp drain smell. It was OK, and we spent time there, but it's not on the same level as other hotel spas. A few things like music in the background, better lighting and fixing broken tiles and rusty doors would probably help Also, only one changing cubicle, so people use the toilets which is frustrating if you need a wee!! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and it was a nice family hotel. i would return- but the lack attention to detail let it down and I wouldn't pay full price.

James (10/5): Lodge Cornwall Hotel, st Austell - The breakfast had continental,buffet and menu options. Staff were excellent. Bed s were comfortable. We stayed in a lodge with hot tub. The grounds were beautiful. Well kept. We enjoyed swimming pool and spa facilities. The cornwall hotel was easy to find. We enjoyed our stay very much.

laurengI309BY (10/5): Gorgeous hotel!! - I booked to stay here for my boyfriends birthday and wow it has exceeded my expectations! We stayed in the deluxe double room which was gorgeous, very clean, spacious with an open bathroom area and an outside decking and the hotel itself is in beautiful grounds. The bed was probably the comfiest I've ever stayed in so slept very well. The hotel is happy to accommodate any requests and I opted to add some little extras to the room including a balloon and chocolates to make it a bit more special. We ordered room service including steak burgers and creme brulee all of which were lovely. The spa area was stunning, very clean and lots of facilities including a sauna, steam room, pool and bubble pool. Even the changing rooms were gorgeous and provided hair straighteners, dryers and cotton wool which was a lovely touch. We both had a back, neck and shoulder massage which was very relaxing. For breakfast, we were greeted and served by friendly staff and sat in a lovely dining room. We had a choice of items from the continental buffet including pastries, cereal, yoghurts, and then there was an option of having a full English buffet or selecting an item off the menu to be cooked for you. We chose to have pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, and eggs royale which were delicious. I was very impressed with this hotel and sad to leave, I will definitely be returning!
