- charles (6/5): - Hôtel dans un joli bâtiment historique sur le Plateau, au centre de l'animation de la ville. Chambre pour 4 un peu petite avec des lits d'appoints qui faisaient beaucoup de bruit de ressorts. Sanitaires largement insuffisants, WC quasiment contre la paroi de douche, impossible de s'assoir de face... Tringle pour les linges non fixée. Rapport qualité-prix insuffisant pour moi.

Après m’être plaint 3 fois que je n’avais pas d’eau qui sortait de ma douche, et pas d’eau le matin, en plus d’une odeur d’égoût dans ma chambre, j’ai changé d’hôtel! Le monsieur de la réception était d’une grande inutilité. J’ai demandé à être remboursé mais il voulait que j’attende le manager pendant quelques heures! Les photos de la terrasse sont fausses: elle est inexistante. Horrible expérience!

- Christine (10/5): - Excellently positioned on Praia Plateau, which is full of history and culture. The Santa Maria has friendly, cheerful, Caboverdean staff and is comfortable, clean and caring. Buffet breakfast is delicious and it has a lift. The only minor problem is it’s sometimes hard to get on the WiFi.

The local staff are very helpful and always cheerful. The hotel is comfortable and clean. It has a lift and delicious buffet breakfasts.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Attention ! - 1st. Be careful ! taxi from Airport to downtown Praia most drivers will ask you for € 20 but the right price is €10. 2nd. I'd booked a double room (twin) for 2 nights at Hotel st. Maria. The night editor made us pay a supplement of € 85 because we were 2 people in a double room.? I had to insist to get an invoice.

Concernant le Private Tours affiché dans la hall d’entrée est une véritable arnaque : cher et chauffeur antipathique

- Frédérique (10/5): Excellent hôtel idéalement situé au cœur de Praia - Hôtel idéalement situé sur le Plateau de Praia. Nous y avons séjourné 12 nuits et de notre accueil, nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Un personnel très convivial et professionnel.. Toujours disponible et à notre écoute, parlant en Français (Anglais aussi). La chambre est spacieuse avec une très bonne literie, la Salle de bain est spacieuse. Le ménage est fait tous les jours avec là aussi un personnel professionnel. Le buffet du petit déjeuner est très bien avec des fruits frais, des produits locaux... Le seul petit bémol est que selon l'affluence des touristes, ce buffet petit-déjeuner peut être rapidement épuisé. Gros point positif, l'hôtel fait également bar restaurant, propose un service de transfert aéroport. Rapport Qualité Prix très intéressant. Nous recommandons vivement cet établissement.

- Joanna (4/5): Unhelpful, tiny room - Staff was supposed to be able to assist with some simple requests but they were uninterested. For example, i arrived from the airport at 21:30 and asked for a restaurant recommendation. They said everywhere was closed. Not the case at all and I found multiple restaurants open. Then the next day I asked for assistance to book ferry tickets as I have been unable to do so online. The advice I received was go out of the hotel to the left...I was not able to book tickets in time and missed my chance to go to Fogo. Then as I was leaving the hotel I asked if they could call me a taxi. The front desk person told me to go out and catch a taxi myself. Besides that the room itself was maybe the smallest I've ever had in the hotel and you can hear everything. The only thing the hotel has going for it is their location.

We needed a taxi, tips and recommendation and we felt in really good hands. Very central position in Praia, a nice walk away from the beach and the restaurant

Taxi halten auch direkt daneben, Banken überall. 5 Min.Autifahrt vom Flughafen. Zimmer sauber, liebes Personal. Too, wur kommen zum Ende unserer Reise nochmals für 4 Tage ins Santa Maria. Einzig der Mift ist zu langsam, sehr mühsam. Frühstück wärw schln wenn mehr Abwechslung wäre.

Superior-Suite gebucht, nein Tee, keineSeife aufgefüllt, herunterhängendeVorhänge, wifi nur teils, alle Lampen funktionierten nicht, Lift ging tagelang nicht von der 3. Etage runter....Löcher in der Türe, Klima ging nicht richtig, Liste ist unendlich....nichts wurde getan, man wurde von der Chefin nicht mal mehr gegrüsst!

- MABU (2/5): Terrible,my son very disappointed 👎 - The hotel was terrible, from the moment we arrived we were given the room we didn’t book jus 1 tiny double room instead of superior suite with queen bed and single bed. The pillows and towels old and pillows stitched with a black thread unprofessionally probably hand stitching. Breakfast was terrible the bread was dry & stale, serving plates were tiny side plates. Fruits were not fresh the papaya looked very mashed, they do not serve fresh breakfast, I regret booking this hotel & will never again The bed was not comfortable and was not the same size as the mattress, is this place a cheap hostel? Because clearly it doesn’t deserve even 3stars. The mini fridge was full when we arrived and nobody told us that if we use the drinks we need to pay for them.. at least give guest a brochure on their arrival so that they know they don’t touch drinks in the mini bar, instead we will have a choice of going for drinks outside.. I was charged for drinks we used after I thought they came with the package of the booking. I should have stayed at the other hotel instead of coming to this hotel, loud noise at night, and the corridors too stuffy & hot, 👎👎

Perfect value for the money + a nice little restaurant downstairs with adorable cats who sleep on the roof across the way. Picturesque + a lovely landing for an entree into Praia + all it has to offer.

- L (10/5): Great little hotel, in City Centre - The hotel is in a great location in the centre of town. Breakfast had a great selection of food to choose from.The staff were friendly and helpful. Especially Cynthia, who is a bundle of energy and good humour, made us laugh. There was great music one of the nights, on the street terrace, with locals sashaying past enjoying the music alongside guests. Overall I'd highly recommend this place to stay.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Well presented town centre hotel - Property is located in a pedestrian street in the centre of Praia town and is within 5 minutes’ walk of the town’s main park, a supermarket, the presidential palace and multiple small shops / cafes. Football / fishing beaches are 10 minutes’ walk down the hill, tourist beaches are 20 to 30 minutes’ walk in the same direction. Checkin desk didn’t have enough change when I paid my non-prepaid taxes on arrival with cash, but were helpful in terms of arranging taxies and dealing with other issues. Room was pleasant, well presented and had good air-conditioning, but there was an immediate aroma of stale water on first entering and the toiletries / towels provided often weren’t adequate. Found the shower difficult to regulate and it was easy to pump the tap and cause it to suddenly boil or freeze. Had an issue with my room not being cleaned one day and found that the wifi only worked if standing right at the door (wouldn’t work at the desk or in any of the main areas of the room). Breakfast was simple but runs until 10:30 each day, tea making is provided but new tea bags/sugar weren’t, the bed sloped to the left and the in room mini-bar fridge and the TV remote didn’t work. Reasonably pleasant reasonably quiet town based place to stay.
- Colin (6/5): Praia - not quiet as expected. - I think the hotel has recently being refurbished and there was no bars/restaurants, balcony/patio & no airport transfer - all of which were mentioned in the hotels.com details. I did find the staff at the hotel very friendly and helpful. There is not much to do in Praia and my stay of 13/14 nights was too long, but overall a very pleasant stay over the Christmas period.
- shehana (4/5): do not go there its a total rip off - I changed room twice as it was not possible to open window and when u take shower u cant breathe. The description on hotel.com website is not correct there is no ocean view as it says. Too noisy rooms. No iron, breakfast is available only after 7.30 when everybody has left as most flights are very early or the tours also start very early.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Rooms with creaking door that rattles all night - My room was at the end of a hallway leading to an exit on to a rooftop. The result was a wind tunnel that made my room door rattle all night. A chair up against it or other means did not work so I was awake all night. And a whistling breeze is scary in the dark of night. I slept very little and kept checking the hall in case someone was outside. Could not take it in the end & glad to leave
- Bill (6/5): Good position, decent deal - This Hotel is on a pedestrian street in the nicest part of Praia. The rooms are OK and the staff are helpful. There are TV channels in a number of different languages. The breakfast is included but is not great unless you get there really early. I'd stay there again if I was in Praia.

- peterfX4901MK (6/5): Quite retreat. - Very simple hotel that is just the place to go if you want to have a very very quite stay. There is not much to do here and the island looks like something from Star Wars. I guess the reason this place is popular is that both Ryan Air and Easy Jet planes cannot fly this far yet.
- JG_Vermeulen (6/5): Maybe not the cheapest option in Praia, but one of the best - Just located in the very centre of the Cape Verdean capital city, it's a simply hotel with several rooms around a 'Mediterranean' atrium. We had some problems when we arrived to the reception, as the woman in charge told us that there was no reservation under our name (she made us write our names on the same paper that our reservation was!). Apart from that, a good option if you plan to stay in Praia.
