Guest Reviews
- Lyndsi (10/5): - Perfect location
- Kary (8/5): - The only thing that ruffled my feathers was that they have new location for the office and when you actually use gps it takes you to the old office. Late check ins have no idea that there is another office to get their room key. That was upsetting but it all worked out at the end.
- Janet (2/5): - It was very, very dirty. We have stayed there for 40 years and it was never like this! New owners
- Janet (4/5): - We have stayed here for many years, but it is not the same. Just awful.
- Janet (4/5): - Very dirty rooms!!!
- ruth (6/5): - It was a pretty scenery.
But for inside the room it was dirty. And I was charged more money than what I was told
- Kasey (6/5): - The address on our reservation was not the actual address which was locked and dark, apparently next door was the actual location. It eould have been nice to know that in advance. After we figured out the office next door was where we checked it...it too was locked and empty with a sign that they would be back shortly. Our key was in an envelope and taped to the window with my last name on it. So anyone would have come through and grabbed that key.
The room itself was simple and clean.
Close to the strip if you want to walk down.
I just wish there had been communication about check-in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pretty convenient location and walking distance to everything. Room had a mildew smell and air conditioner could have been better. Wasn't a bad place for the price and what it was needed for.
- Ronda (6/5): - I live that it’s close enough to walk to town
- Monty (8/5): - Great place to stay, especially for the price!
Good location to walk the strip.
- Tom (8/5): - A quick walk down to the strip and you just might see bears by the property
- Tamara (6/5): - Older, convenient, big rooms, bottoms of toilet gross, pools weren't filled
- Michael (10/5): Great stay! - The hotel was in perfect walking distance to downtown. It was very quiet there and the A/C was nice and cold and the room was very clean.
- Terry (8/5): - It was close to everything
- Jessica (10/5): - My kids really enjoyed the pool. It was affordable and within walking distance to the gatlinburg strip.
- Rhonda (10/5): - Staff was friendly, room was clean and within walking distance to everything!
- Amanda (4/5): - Very outdated. Toilet would not flush properly. Pillows were yellowed from oldness. Cracks in tile in bathroom. Coffeepot had old coffee still in it. Parking lot and hotel was very sketchy looking.
- Darren (6/5): - Room cost was affordable. The receptionist was friendly. Room was clean and A/C was cold. Within walking distance to town. Would stay here again
- Karen (6/5): - The staff were very pleasant. The facility is very run down. Our room reeked of Ammonia/urine. And the bathroom walls looked liked someone had wiped poop on the walls.
- Peggy (10/5): - It was good every thing about it
- Stacy (8/5): - Seen bear right out our door 🙂
- Richard (8/5): - Busy weekend but very clean and bed was comfy
- Jerry (4/5): - Had no contact with staff at check in. The room key was in an envelope taped to the office window.
- Marcin (8/5): - Check-in was a new one for me - we arrived for our stay around 6:30pm and found an envelope with the last name written on it taped to the outside window. Inside was a key ( and actual key, not a key card ) to the room, receipt and a parking pass. The room we stayed in ( ground level, near the swimming pool ) was ok. The lighting could be updated, same with the carpet. The bathroomnis due for an update - tub/shower paneling was loose in a few places, dings and peeling paint in a few places. The area was busy and we could definitely hear noises from the swimming pool, but it was quiet overnight. Overall, I feel like this was an ok stay for the price paid.
- Stacey (2/5): Not happy - We got there early so we knew they wouldn't let us check in,they let us park there,so we walked up town site seeing, got back around 530ish, no one around tbey taped our room key to a outside door . Later getting ready for bed went to restroom and tub was filthy, dirt rings, hair and dead spider . So next day we told someone he got us a different room at first glance looked alot cleaner but the more you looked around there was cobwebs no phone, dirty base boards,
- Caleb (6/5): - We never seen any employees there
- Heather (10/5): - Staff was sooo friendly and accommodating!! Our favorite place to stay in Gatlinburg !!! Close to everything !!!
- Beverly (4/5): - Carpet and bed covering looked clean and fairly new. However, we found a lighter in the room, trash on floor behind toilet. No cold water at the sink. Light above sink had 1 out of 4 working bulbs. Pools were not yet ready for the season.
- Tammy (8/5): - For the price that we paid, the hotel was exactly what we expected. It is an older hotel, but it is conveniently located. We were attending an event at the convention center. It was about a 15 minute walk. We had great weather. Therefore, we enjoyed the walk. If your expectations are in line with the price that you pay to stay at this hotel, you won't be disappointed.
- Drew (10/5): - My family and I have been staying at Mountain House Inn for nearly 40 years now and keep coming back! The staff is always friendly and accommodating. And the quiet and convenient location cant beat! I highly recommend them!
- Tiffany (2/5): - They taped our room key to the window outside. Nobody was in the office. The room SMELLED like mold and the crpet and mattresses were dirty. The lights were horrible and the shower wall had a huge crack from tub to halfway up. We never stayed in the room, went across the street and rented a room at a different hotel. Getting a refund from Expedia as this room was ridiculous!
- Rosanne (6/5): - Too close to Gatlinburg tourist strip, but still quiet. Worth the low price. Close to many restaurants on main strip.
- Robert (6/5): - I've been staying in Gatlinburg since the 1990's and have tried dozens of places. My previous stay here was much more pleasing. The room quality and comfort was decent for sure. But staffing was spotty and non-existent after 6 PM or so and the property was very dark for quite some time before the lights came on. There was a sizable gap between the door and the floor and a lot of leaves blew in while I was in town. Certainly nothing offensive but there are so many places in Gatlinburg to choose from that quite frankly, offer a more satisfying experience. I really do like the location because it's quiet and yet very close to the center of town.
- richard (10/5): - property is dated, but very clean
- Jamie (10/5): Great hotel for a great price - We love this hotel! The hotel is in walking distance to the main strip. The beds are comfortable and everything was clean. We will be staying again!
- jennifer (8/5): Not fancy, inexpensive, safe. Close walk - This was a brief get away for 1 night in Gatlinburg. I loved how close it was to the main strip, free parking, and a in room coffee maker. It served it's purpose of having a place to lay our head for 1 night. It's not fancy, and definitely dated, but for $100 it is good! Check in was the fastest I've ever had! Would definitely stay there again
- Aaron (2/5): - Nobody was ever at front desk. Room was filthy. Didn’t have a remote to the tv and took a day before I finally got ahold of someone to bring the remote. Bathroom was awful. Door was falling apart. Bath tub drain didn’t have a stopper and the shower handle was broke. Absolutely no water pressure.
- Aaron (2/5): - Broken down dirty and no staff to be found
- Cheryl (8/5): - I have stayed several times over the last few years and appreciate the friendly staff.
- Donna (2/5): - Still using metal keys. No telling how many keys are out there. Office is closed like 5 pm to 9 am. Any problems your on your own. No one answering room phone ; least they could do is have an answering service pickup. Photos not of this office area!!! If you arrive late your key is in envelope taped to door. I thought this was a tourist motel but there are a lot of local living there full time. I feel this Property is totally misrepresented!!!! UNSAFE!!!!
- rick (10/5): - Very accessible
- courtney (10/5): - Very nice staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very clean, comfortable room in a great location for a great price.
- Scott (4/5): - We just stayed 1 night. Just to sleep. We left a day early for our trip. The hotel we had booked didnt have any rooms for our day early.
The room and especially the bathroom was dirty.
The heater/ air conditioner sounded like a freight train. It woke us up throughout the night.
We used to stay here all the time a few years ago. It isnt clean now and definitely needs updated. The 2 pools outside are very dirty. Im sure they would attract bugs and bacteria.
- Rob (10/5): - Good deal. Close to restaurants, bars, and attractions.
- victor (8/5): Excellent cheap hotel for Gatlinburg strip walking - Stayed for 2 nights to walk around Gatlinburg. Absolutely no issues with parking or walking to the strip. The check-in/check-out clerk was very nice. For $70 a night after taxes, fees, and whatever else it was well worth it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I wouldn’t stay here again. I arrived later than expected and my key was taped to the window of the office with my name on it. The bath tub looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The best thing about the room was that the bed was fairly comfortable. It was one roll of toilet paper in the room and that was half way gone when we arrived and there was no number to dial to get more so we went to the store for toilet paper. It just wasn’t the best choice of place to stay
- jean (2/5): - The room is dirty and smell cigarettes
- Sandra (8/5): - Great location, very close to the main attractions, like Anakeesta and aquarium
- Jody (4/5): - The remote did not work for the TV so we could not get it to turn on. The front desk staff was not at the desk the entire time, so when you need help with something, they are not always there. They told me they would be out of the office a lot, and just so happened that when I needed them, they weren't there. There was hair all in our bathtub and shower from previous guests. There was black mold in the shower as well. In the bathroom window, there was a half full water bottle left from a previous guest. And behind the furniture, it was filthy. We dropped a shirt behind the dresser and was afraid to touch it because of all the dirt back there. The min fridge was frozen solid and was un-usable. We planned on using it, but it couldn't because it was room temp the entire time. The room does appear to have gone through some recent work... the caulk looked new in the bathroom, etc. But over all, more work needs to happen. Better maids maybe? A 24 hour desk staff (which is the usual for hotels),
- Verified traveler (8/5): Satisfecha con el sevicio - El lugar es antiguo pero es limpio y cĂłmodo
en general el personal fue amable.
Estoy satisfecha con mi estadĂa.
- David (2/5): - Dirty, broken sharp edged tiles, broken fixtures ( handle in shower end tile broken off and toilet paper ceramic holder broken off, wiring exposed with bare wire thimbles advertised free local phone but no phone at all in one room and i phone inoperable and six days no room attendant or cleaning
- David (2/5): - location good
- Sarah (8/5): - It is a good place to stay.
- Octavio (10/5): - Amazing stay with amazing prices. The hotel was close enough to downtown Gatlinburg that you could simply walk there; no need to worry about parking. Considering the price, the room was as expected. Overall, the hotel is nice for a quick stay and the staff was very helpful.
- Chris (6/5): - It was exactly like what we paid for. Like most around they are outdated but this one seemed pretty clean with the exception of some dog hair on the sofa.
- Marcus (8/5): convenient location downtown - Was brief just an overnighter was surprised no one was there for check in around 6pm had an envelope taped to front door with my name and a key in it which was a little disturbing should someone else just walk by and get my key and receipt for the stay. Left next morning around 6:10 and still no one in office and no place to leave key. Went back to room and left key in the room
- Lokanath (10/5): - Great location and value for money.
- Sharon (6/5): - Pricing good. Had no housekeeping service. Didnt get daily towels replenished, no trash bags replenished, etc.. had large gap at bottom of door which allowed cold air in room. No condiments for coffee. Other wise ok.
- Keri (6/5): - The toilet got backed up
- Jamie (10/5): Great Hotel at a great price - I love Mountain House Inn. Everytime I have stayed here the room was clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff is super friendly. The bathroom is always clean and have plenty of towels. I will be staying here again. My family also loves this hotel.
- Skyla (6/5): - Perfect location to downtown. Literally right there. This is one of those hotels where you get what you pay for. Staff was fine, our key was taped to the lobby door when we got there because they closed early so that was convenient, room wasn’t the cleanest, but was ok. Bring your own blankets as theirs are thin and old. Perfect perfect location, walkable to the village and downtown. Overall would stay again if working with a budget, but don’t expect anything nice here.
- Oscar (8/5): - This property is located on downtown, close to everywhere, but is really needs outdated.
- Andrew (4/5): - For what you payfor not bad at all! Just gets a two star cause that's the property! Really outdated in every way. Wasn't dirty just really old, the bathroom trim on oneside was rotted out.
- Sirajuddin (4/5): - The charges $96 are too much for the property its a very old property and i would not stay here
- Karin (10/5): - Great. Two free rollaways. Friendly helpful receptionist
- Susan (6/5): - The worst hotel I've ever stayed in.
- William (10/5): - Great place. Will stay there again.
- Ira (8/5): - Old hotel but convenient, clean and quiet.
- Pamela (8/5): - Great, inexpensive option for a stay in Gatlinburg.
- Angel (6/5): Cheap room - The room was musty smelling. Black stains on the sheet, The room did not feel clean. The plus was a new AC/heat unit. Very bland! No pictures on the walls. Cheap room, but you get what you pay for.
- Ayse (2/5): - The lady at the check in wasnt very happy at first cause we were a one nighter. The hotel is very old and def needs updating. We stayed there cause all the other hotels were full and the kids were very tired. My whole demeanor changed when I saw an empty condom pack next to the bed, thats when I couldnt give anymore chances. Sorry but maybe this will help the owners take care more of the property. There is a lot of competition I guess they dont care that much!!
- Jamie (6/5): - Good location
- Samantha (10/5): Worth the money! - Check in was easy and quick. House keepers do not come to your room to bother you so if you need anything you have to ask front desk. Rooms are a little outdated but the AC was cold and the bed was comfy! The only issue we had was the shower drained really slow in the shower. We will be back! Also, do not need food in your vehicles. This guy will find it!
- APINYA (6/5): - Walkable to downtown. Don’t have to worry about parking.
- Anthony (8/5): - The bear visited everyday during our stay.
- Amit (10/5): - The hotel staff is simply fabulous. Due to the staff and location, I would not rate any less than 5 star
- Verified traveler (6/5): Staff is Awesome, cleanliness not so much. - The staff was awesome! Very nice and pleasant atmosphere. The location is awesome, easy walk to the parkway. The cleanliness of the room was a bit under scale.
- Marilee (6/5): Lions and tigers and lots of bears - Watch out for the bears…the office left our
Key on the door when we checked in and no one was there…the guy that worked there was nice but you have to like his sarcasm and sense of humor. I had to change rooms one night into my stay and he ended up
Giving me a key card instead of an actual key. I had to bother him
To get the key. The place is
A bit soon run down. It’s off the strip but you will for sure see bears. I killed some sort of bug in my room definitely wasn’t a bed bug but the rooms need some
Updates. It’s nice if you just want to sleep
- Tammy (10/5): - Nice place to spend a couple days.. very helpful friendly staff.
- Marilee (4/5): Sketch at best - Keys were tapped
To
The door even though we checked in before
7. Someone greeted us before
7. Only 1
Room
Key for 2
People,
Right off the strip,
Plenty of bears on the
Lot
- Lori (8/5): - Nice place, average
- David (2/5): - This place was awful pipes leaked it smelled inside probably from the pipes leaking. No one ever came up and fixed. It lights didn’t work no help from the staff. I would never stay at this place again.
- Wayne (8/5): - needed alot of updates .But it was clean
- Cathye (10/5): - Its American owned .people really nice .15 min round trip walk to the village and back
- Sandra (10/5): - Always stay here
- Dana (4/5): - The beds were fairly comfortable
Our room had a hot tub with a sign saying not to turn it on because it leaks. Ok..has a fireplace. That doesn't work. Very low water pressure. The exhaust fan doesn't work in the bathroom either.
- Bikash (4/5): - Room was not clean...coffee machine has not been clean or used for long time !!
- Daisy (10/5): - Our stay was not too bad, little unclean but definitely enjoyed seeing the bears!!
- Mohammad Usman (6/5): - If the bed and pillow covers were cleaner and comforter set better, this could look much better.
- Timothy (10/5): - Very friendly staff only a few blocks from the main strip. Beautiful walk to downtown.
- Rolando (6/5): - The stain sheets and pillows needs replaced at least.
- Jackalene (8/5): - Property very convenient. Walking distance to main strip.
- Kristen (10/5): Review - Beautiful view cost effective and great location
- Rita (8/5): - Nice staff...Facility was older needed upgrading. Beds were comfortable.
- Michael (8/5): Close to downtown...and nature! - Great communication and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again. Super easy walkong access to tourist-y stuff downtown. However, DO NOT leave anything edible in your vehicle. Black bears are commonplace in the area (like, in parking lots), and they WILL get into your vehicle if they smell food.
- john (8/5): - Clean and bug free but room can really use an update!
- Demetrus (10/5): - It was a great stay
- Melissa (10/5): Vacation - I love that place they are very sweet people
- Rene (2/5): - Rooms were not clean
