Guest Reviews
- Jay (4/5): - The hotel is very dated. You can quickly tell there haven’t been major renovations. The rooms
- Sheri (6/5): - Check in was okay but something happened with our hotels.com reservation. There was a language barrier, but I’m pretty sure she couldn’t find our reservation and just gave us the price I showed on my email confirmation. Staff was friendly and the grounds were lovely, though the pool did not look inviting. Location was convenient. The room was okay for the cost, but not great and should be cleaned better and updated even at the lower cost. Beds were hard as a rock and blankets were old. It gave army barracks vibes. There was no hot water in the bath sink, a lamp was missing a lightbulb, and the painting on the wall was ripped.
Parking was great at least?
- Mauro (10/5): - Great service clean everything was great
- Mike (8/5): - Great location and very friendly staff.
- Rodo (10/5): - Definitely I will be there again
- Belinda (10/5): A great place to stay. - Always a pleasure staying at the Rubio! ❤️
- Erik (8/5): - El hotel es muy bonito, pero no hay suficiente espacio para estacionarse, me parece raro que tenga tantas habitaciones y un area de estacionamiento tan pequeña, además el personal que atiende en la recepcion no es muy amable.
- Ayner (8/5): - Secure parking, friendly staff, good location
- Brad (8/5): Great place to stay in Tequila - At one time this hotel must’ve been a go to place, It is a huge property. There is no food or drinks available. They charge 15 pesos for a cup of instant coffee - that’s cheap.
- Juliana (10/5): - Room was spacious and pretty. Our specific room had a small living room, one open bedroom with two queen sized beds and another room with a door. AC in small room and in living room that freshened the open bedroom. Bed and pillow were just right for my liking. Bathroom had a tub. Toilet and shower entrance were very tight. Shower water flow was fine; water warm. Gardens are incredibly beautiful and peaceful! I highly recommend.
- Patricia (2/5): - Location and building structure are ok. Staff was friendly. But terrible higiene, mold in the sink and shower, blood in the bed sheets ( ask them to remove them and they said it was paint) no shower mats and very slippery floor. shower towels very bad and only 1. Lots of humidity on the ceiling. AC unit liking bad and during the nite water was all over the floor very slippery. No internet access. not recommended at all
- Kiara (10/5): - Very friendly
- Johnny (10/5): - I had a wonderful time at the hotel. Lovely staff.
- Cinthya (6/5): - Staff service was good!!,
But the room wasn’t that good, a lot of noise
- Irma (8/5): - hotel was good some water leaks but overall very nice place to stay
- Cindy (10/5): - Very safe and friendly. Shower pressure wasn’t as strong. Would prefer more towels in the room.
- margarita (10/5): - Beautiful place spacious room. However the bed was so hard! Wasn’t easy to sleep. And the shower was a trickle flow of water . Friendly staff great location!
- Maria (10/5): - Quede satisfecha con sus servicios aunque no usásemos su alberca lusia limpia
- Timothy (10/5): - Great customer service. Friendly and professional. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was accommodating to my broken Spanish. Communication was good. Would definitely return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Central and friendly - Our room was a little run down. The bathroom had black on the ceiling.
No wifi at all in our room
Large room.
Friendly service.
Couldnt use the pool.
Had parking
- Anna Maria (8/5): - Pretty spot
- Blanca (6/5): - Rooms need an upgrade and furniture and doors
- Amy (8/5): - Decent hotel for 1 night stay in tequila. Perfect walking distance to plaza. Plenty of safe parking. Rooms could use some updating and pillows were super thin. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): One night stay - Pool not open. Off season. No hot water. Bice location. No restaurant or food services. But ok for an overnight stay.
- Colleen (10/5): - It was amazing.
- Romualdo (10/5): - I love it. It’s located in a magical town.
- Jose (10/5): - Everything was as described prior to booking. Did not have any issues. Property is in a perfect location, close to many shops and central area with restaurants and tourist attractions. Less than a 5 minute walk.
- Karen (8/5): - This hotel is a great location with easy on site parking . The rooms are clean and comfortable but not fancy. The hotel grounds and courtyard right outside the rooms is a wonderful place to sit outside with friends. Large and varied trees provide shade or sun to enjoy.
- Maria (4/5): - The hotel is close proximity to the main plaza. It would be nice of they had heated pools. The water was freezing so disnt get to wnjoy the pool area. The rooms had many tiny ants and apiders- fumigation is required. The remote controls were not wiped down. So there was something sticky on them and we woke up to a bunch of spiders and ants on them and on the bed. VERY DISGUSTING!!!!
- Kimberly (10/5): This is a nust! - Amazing cuatomer service!!
- Nora (8/5): - close to downtown
- Valorie (2/5): - I liked nothing about the property. Single rooms that were booked were so small there was no place to do anything but sleep. No room for luggage. Bed was sagging - I would not and did not stay there
- Maria Engracia (10/5): - everything is walking distance
- MARIA (4/5): - The rooms have ants everywhere including beds. We told them about it and they switched our room to another one that had the same problem. We ended up staying there because all the other hotels around the area were fully booked.
- John (8/5): Tequila the fun city - Great place near center plaza. Many tequila resources for your selection. Fun trip.
- Jibran (8/5): - .
- Gregg (8/5): - Within walking distance to strip
- Luz del (10/5): - It’s an hacienda type style we’re the rooms are around an open landscape.
- arturo (4/5): - Over all this property is in desperate need of a full cleaning, highly priced with a very poor customer service, stupid rules like: after 10 pm is forbidden to bring alcoholic drinks (???) 100 pesos for a deposit of tv and air conditioner controls, air conditioner does mot work properly, tv,s are from the 80s. I can go on and on….
- Abraham (10/5): very great - This place was amazing! Very nice courtyard with tables and chairs to relax. Cleanliness was very good! This hotel even offers tours thru the city and the Rienda distillery. Very pleased with our stay we hope to return soon!
- Gustavo (2/5): - Terrible place. The garden is nice but the rooms are dirty full of spider webs and ants on the bed. Bad experience.
- HARRY (10/5): - Staff was very helpful.
- Nuvia (8/5): - Very nice place with air conditioning! Conveniently located near enough to the plaza but not too close where crowds would gather. Clean but the shower head was almost falling off and the water came out of the sides of the head but still worked fine
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This property is nice and affordable but, it looks like it needs updating on certain areas like windows and A/C. I was moved to another room due to A/C failure and was told by another staff to use a fan. I refused so they did moved me. Overall I would not stayed there due to over rules on towels, parking and alcohol drinking after 10pm.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - bueno para pasar la noche!
- Efrain (6/5): - Decent stay for price but take earplugs if u whant a good nights sleep!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay anytime.
- Cesar (10/5): - The gentleman in the afternoon is really nice! Excellent customer service the lady in the morning needs a little work onber customer service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Me and my wife saw previous reviews about this hotel so we where a little hesitant, but we decided to give it a shot.
It’s an older building but it was so clean and elegant, that we know we have to come back
- Hector (8/5): Very Nice Hotel just noise.... - Overall it is a nice hotel, friendly staff, walking distance to the Plaza, but if you looking for a quiet place this is not the place because you can heard everything even the next room neighbor, also their inventory it is very worn out meaning the towels, hand towels and sheets, they should renew their inventory from time to time☺️
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A lot of bugs the room was dark no windows. Ok for the price only stayed for one night would probably stay again
- Mike (10/5): - This hotel is great to stay in Tequila Jalisco
Staff treat you like family and close to the downtown
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I really liked this place for the peace and quiet and lovely inner courtyard, for the easy parking and the spaciousness of the room. The room is a bit dark but cool and quiet. A breakfast option right at the hotel would have been nice but there were plenty of local restaurants. I would definitely come back here and recommend others to stay. The price was also very good and so central to the main square of the town. The staff don't speak much English but can get by OK. Sweeping the courtyard starting at 6 am is a bit too early but the place is very tidy.
- Graciela (8/5): Good time - Was good and nice place
- john (8/5): - Always like our stays here. It’s very convenient to all in Tequila and the garden courtyard is a lovely area to sit and visit with friends. Nelly, at the front desk was especially helpful. Can’t beat this hotel for an inexpensive night with friends in Tequila.
- Marsha (2/5): - From the outside it looks nice, the rooms are deplorable. I have COPD and the mold is everywhere including the closet which is made of metal and rusted. I have pictures of the mold and crumbling walls. There were no other hotels in town with vacancies and we didn't want to drive back to Guadalajara in the dark, so we spent one night. My daughter's room was just as bad, she will be challenging the bill. At check in they did not want to honor the cost of the rooms as shown on our reservation. The first room my daughter had the glass shattered when they put the key in and nicked my son-in-law, it was a battle with the front desk to get another room and not pay for the broken glass. I truly thing this hotel should be removed from your listings. I don't know how to attach the pictures of the room, contact me if you want to see them, they are frightening. Other hotels we looked into the following day were priced about the same as this one but were clean and no mold was present, unfortunately, there were no vacancies so we drove back to Guadalajara.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Old, dirty, towels were threadbare and smelly, the rooms are cold and damp, the only redeeming quality was the staff.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hotel was nicely located downtown. The hotel was very dirty. My bed had what looked to be dried puke all over it. The extra blanket in closet had human hair all over it. The grounds keeper starts sweeping the courtyard around 5am! Along with fireworks , train whistles blowing, and roosters, sleep was next to impossible at this place.
- Ramon (2/5): Good location pool was ok other than that it’s bad - The room we where given at first had a broken ac unit after dealing with that for about an hour we where given a different room. The second room we where given a room with balls of hair stuck to the shower walls discussing! I let the owner know when we checked out and she didn’t seem like it mattered.
- Vanessa (10/5): - Todo está hermoso y lindo solamente a la gente del escritorio les falta un poco más de amabilidad y experiencia con los turistas son un poco lentos y sobre todo pareciera que no saben hacer su trabajo.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The place looks nice from outside only,#2-STAFF skipped me in line for a 20 people party instead#3 upon checking into room, there was a Women's SANITARY TOWEL(KOTEX)inside our TOILETE.I'm never coming back to this hotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel itself is very peaceful. The staff were nice and welcoming. The room on its own was out dated. The sheets and pillows were stained. The towels should be in the trash, and replaced with new ones. We had ac which was a plus, but it was leaking water all day. There was a lot of noise. The restroom made loud noises every time it was flushed, and we heard the people from upstairs every time they opened up theirs water.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location in the heart of Tequila. Nice looking hotel and it seemed safe
- Rodolfo (8/5): 3 - During day time was no cold water for the shower, and was only 2 towels for the bathroom.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No internet in room.
Construction that was supposed to be done by 6pm went on until 8 pm
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It's was wonderful to have a 2 bedroom suite. I will be back to Tequila and will stay there over and over again. Thank you all.
- Chuck (10/5): - Nice location. Easy walk to town square. Pool was empty and hot tube was dirty. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Could use new towels.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We were looking forward to staying here. The first person at the front desk was very nice, but then we checked into our room...moldy and dark. Then checked out the pool...non existent. We went into centro Tequila and found a much better accommodation. When we went back to the front desk to explain we were not happy, there was a differnt front desk person and he did not same to care at all...too busy playing on his phone. We left the key and left to our new hotel. We tried to get a refund through Expedia and emailed the hotel directly, but to date, no refund.
- Andres (2/5): - Front desk not helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is an older Mexican hotel that was clean and offered basic emenities BUT best of all it is located a short 3 blocks from the zocalo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was a beautiful nostalgic property in the heart of downtown tequila
- Robert (10/5): Excellent hotel. - It is a good hotel. You will probably get 2 double beds. The rooms are clean and efficient. The grounds are excellent. You may only get wifi close to the lobby. They have secure parking.
- Bill (6/5): - Construction was going on, the price waa right staff was fantastic, room needes updating.
- Trent (8/5): Good Value - We travel to Tequila a couple of times per year. The Plaza Rubio is a nice, traditional Spanish style hotel. Clean and roomy. We have found it to be a good value
- Bill (4/5): - The hotel was having construction done which was very loud, states there's two pools , one was empty because it was by the construction area. The other was about 3/4 in the water, did not look so clean. Our room was bare minimum bed very hard, the sheets were so thin you could see the mattress pattern through them. You only get two small very thin towels, one of the towels smelled so bad we couldn't use it.
NOTE: you are charged per person.
Location & inside parking was good.
- Jeanette (4/5): better places - this hotel 's decor is stuck in the 70s with garish colors in the rooms and outdated decor - we stayed 7 nights reporting a broken window on our arrival that never got fixed - none of the windows would open, the bathroom had a sewer smell coming from the drains and when we requested no maid service, they came in our room and cleaned anyway - no wifi in the room and iffy in the lobby - the pool area was nice, the place is kept clean, most of the desk staff congenial and the hotel is close to central sights and activities but would not stay there again
- Daniela (10/5): Comfort - Excelent location
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean rooms & good location don’t expect anymore for the amount you pay!
- Fred (4/5): - The first night it rained in room flooded then the pool was not operational and they had a fountain breeding mosquitoes but other words it was all right
- Raul (8/5): - location is on town center, the facilities is nice, service very good
- Stephany (8/5): Great Little find. - We used the pool and were generally comfortable. Sad that there was no bar or restaurant. The beds were hard but the shower was good as was the AC.
- Ish (10/5): - Hotel receptionist was awesome and funny!! I loved that as soon as you enter the area to go to the rooms, there’s tons of fruit trees, Mangoes, Bananas, Guavas etc.. it was so beautiful!!
- Maria (4/5): - I like the area and the good taste of the mangos. We stayed there for 2 days, my room was cleaned but my blankets were never changed, and the towels were too old and dirty . Management please replace with new towels.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We loved the fruit trees outside our door. Great Hotel well located.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bed sheets had hairs. There was mosquitos in the room. The pool water was cloudy. Not quite what we read n viewed online about this hotel.
- Seize (6/5): - Hotel is a short walk to the main plaza and has nice grounds. The beds are hard and you only get 1 towel per guest. No pool towels (1st world problems). Overall it is an okay hotel.
- erika (10/5): - Loved alllll the greenery.... the cleaning ness of the hotel and specially how spacious the rooms were
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family vacation - Great location about 3 blocks from the centro part of tequila. Lots of stores and restaurnts at a walking distance room was clean staff was amazing and views of hotel are awsome room was a suite for 6 people was very large and comfortable. will come back with my family.
- Carlos (10/5): Quick Trip! - Very friendly and accommodating staff. Hotel premises were well maintained and clean. Rooms were clean and in working order. Beds and pillows a little stiff for my liking but overall a great hotel that captured my interest in staying again when I return.
- Miguel (8/5): Good location, rude staff - Nice hotel, but not so friendly staff, bad internet reception, bad tv cable reception
- Memo (10/5): Nice hotel close to downtown - Thank you it was nice and quiet appropriately for a good relaxing vacations
- Ray (10/5): New old charm hotel. - The Rubio from the narrow street opens up into a large courtyard for parking and large garden area with a charm that has to be experienced.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Enjoyed our stay - The Rubio is 4 blocks from the plaza and church. It is an easy walk. Very clean, a little noisy, we could hear the next room talking and when they got up and left, the metal doors on the room do not shut quietly. Tequila is a beautiful town, full of old buildings that I filled my camera with, we loved it. They are well kept. The people are friendly, not a lot of English spoken, but we did ask for a English speaking tour guide for both of our tequila tours. We did the rubio tour, which we booked right at the hotel, they take you in the chilli limo, well worth it because they tour you around town and end at Rubio distillery. We also did the Sauza distillery, we loved the lunch there, it was excellent, if you are there 9n the weekend they do a buffet,I would do the Jose Cuervo tour next time, as the Sauza tour sucked. Short with no tequila tasting, just the tastings along the way of its different stages. But over all we really enjoyed our selves.
- Ray (10/5): Great hotel in downtown Tequila. - Hotel reminds me of a hacienda, once through the door off the narrow street it opens up to well kept gardens with lots of quiet seat areas. Parking provided off the street. Room was clean and comfortable.
- Javier (8/5): Pretty good experience. - My experience here was pretty great. My only complaint was that one morning the people next to me were playing loud music on their phone and I could hear it through the walls. It looked like part of the wall was made with thin wood like maybe it had been an opening into the other room at some point. The minute I called the front desk they immediately took care of the issue. Very friendly staff. Great location. It seemed every time that I was leaving the hotel the staff was sweeping and moping the floors. You can tell that they take pride in maintaining a clean environment.
- Trent (8/5): - This was our third trip to Tequila and Plaza Rubio. Nice clean and safe property's close to town Central.
- masskaren (8/5): Three blocks from the plaza - Staff were friendly, room a little Stark but more than sufficient for our needs. Price was right, parking excellent, we have a ram 1500 and is difficult to park in Tequila but not this hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice place, comfortable and excellent service
- Verified traveler (6/5): Rooms could be nicer, cleaner, updated, painted. - There was a live cockroach in my bed. EEKS!! The bed was comfy and the grounds were maintained. Did not make it to the pool. All the facilities were closed (bar, restaurant) which was a disappointment. The place was deserted. VERY quiet.
