- isabelle (10/5): - L' emplacement, cadre magnifique.

- Barry (8/5): - Everything No non-fish tapas options available at the bar
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Stephane (10/5): - Le calme Rien
- Roberto (10/5): Stedet anbefales.
- MAREK (8/5): Oaza spokoju i relaksu. - Hotel to domki w tropikalnym ogrodzie, co zapewnia prywatność. Sympatyczna i pomocna obsługa. Codzienne sprzątanie pokoju. Dobre śniadania. Basen, w którym można popływać. Szerokie podwójne łóżko. Teren hotelu zamykany. Parking prywatny.
- Stefan (8/5): Hotel in toller Umgebung - Tolle Umgebung.
Rien
- Valerie (9/5): Geweldige verblijf in de natuur - Super mooie locatie, vriendelijk personeel en mooie kamers Niks
- M2067NFkimp (10/5): Terrific spot on western side of Guadeloupe - We stayed for 2 weeks in March 2025. The hotel was excellent. The accommodation is mostly duplexes set in a lovely garden. Hummingbirds every day. These spaces are very generous for a couple and would also suit a family with 2 or even 3 children. Less good for 2 couples. The shower room was modern. The beds are basic. The maid service is fantastic. In fact, all of the staff are very friendly and helpful. They are happy to assist you with restaurant or activity reservations. Although some English is spoken, it is helpful if you speak some French.
The bar is open until 8 and serves light snacks. Breakfast is a very nice continental with pastries and fresh fruit.
The hotel is very conveniently located a short walk (5min) from the beautiful Grande Anse beach where there are lunch and cocktail spots. Also a 5 min drive from the really cute village of Deshaies where you will find a selection of shops and restaurants.
- manuwel (10/5): Beautiful hotel in Deshaies - Stayed in the Caraib'Bay Hotel with the family (4 kids between 1 and 13 years) for a few nights in late April and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The duplex houses are spacious, clean and cozy, and the breakfast is absolutely amazing - as is the pool area. The hotel is just a short walk away from one of the most beautiful beaches of the island (Plage de Grande Anse) and ideally located for day trips to some of the other beaches further south or excursions the the zoo or other activities in the jungle.
The only two points I would raise are the lack of WIFI in the rooms (there is WIFI available in the breakfast area, but it didn't always work - then again, it probably wasn't the worst thing to see the kids (and parents) disconnect from the internet for a while each day. And we would have preferred to have a table in the house to be able to have dinner inside - the terraces are great but there is quite a bit of mosquito activity in the evening...
- Crossbadger (10/5): Exceptional staff in an exceptional location for a holiday we will never forget - This is a beautifully authentic and tranquil hotel set in the most amazing gardens. You feel a million miles from the real world and are able to relax completely should you decide to stay within the confines of the hotel.
If you are 'beach people', la Plage Grande Anse is precisely 11 minutes walk away and it is a beach from your imagination of what a tropical paradise should look like. Whilst the hotel can provide some tapas, within 5 minutes walk towards the beach is an excellent pizza van and also a van that sells wraps and bokits amongst other options should you need it. There is also the Papillon restaurant within walking distance if you're looking for something a little more classy.
To venture further afield you will need a hire car which I would fully recommend as the local town of Deshaies is an absolute must for it's stunning location and excellent bars and restaurants. It's a 5 minute drive, parking is cheap (free after 7pm) and you can pick up bread from the amazing boulangerie and other supplies from the small supermarket opposite the library if you prefer to prepare your own lunch or dinner back at the hotel where there is a small cooker, microwave and equipment perfectly fit for purpose.
Our duplex room was on two levels with the bed and lounge area upstairs and a small kitchen and bathroom downstairs. The air conditioning worked perfectly well and there is a ceiling fan if you need an extra boost. The bed was very comfortable and was made up every day except Sundays. The bathroom was clean and perfectly suitable for our needs and the whole duplex is tastefully decorated with art and murals by a local artist. Out front is a patio area where you can chill whilst enjoying the feeling of being in a rain forest.
The biggest plus point of this hotel is the staff. The owners Catherine and Christophe make sure to speak to every guest and make you feel welcome but Sandrine and Coline added the fairy dust that made our stay here so special. They are so friendly, helpful and attentive to your needs, advising on things to see and do, making recommendations for where to eat and even making the reservations for us; we genuinely looked forward to seeing them each day.
We were English in what is obviously a very French environment and had very limited French vocabulary (although we tried!) but still we felt part of the CBH family. It is truly an exceptional place that you will never forget once you have stayed.
- Scott (10/5): Exactly as described on the hotel website, so friendly and relaxing. - The fresh croissants and pain au chocolat served at our breakfast table were something to look forward to every morning. The yogurt, fruit, coffee, fresh juices and homemade granola made it the perfect breakfast for us. The staff were so friendly and helpful, without them our holiday would not have been the same. Nothing.
- Lynda (10/5): This place is a unique gem with a laid back, happy vibe. Recommend and we would stay here again. - The location in Deshaies within walking distance of the Grande Anse beach is ideal. The hotel is well situated for exploring further up the coast of Basse Terre towards Sainte Rose. It was a short drive to the gorgeous beaches of Les Amandiers and La Perle. The lush property is gorgeous and the pool is perfect for cooling off or just hanging around if you want a quieter day, however there are mosquitos. The included breakfast at the beautiful outdoor patio was good and was a continental style with fruit, granola, toast, cheeses and sliced meats, buns, homemade cake, juices, coffee, fresh pastries, local jams, yoghurt and pancakes one morning. Scrambled eggs and espresso coffee were available for a fee. I asked if lactose-free or plant based milk was available and they had soy milk. This is picky but another option like almond, oat or lactose-free cow milk would be appreciated. The staff and owner Christophe who we met are super friendly and eager to please. It was nice to see that Christophe rolled up his sleeves and did shifts alongside his staff. They did make efforts to speak English which was appreciated and was on par with our French and we were able to communicate just fine. They have put together binders in French and English of things to do and recommended restaurants which was a nice touch and they were eager to answer questions and help guests make reservations if necessary. Any issues we had were quickly resolved with a smile.
Guests also receive a welcome cocktail upon check-in which was also great. The two-level villas are great for families and there were lots of families with young kids there during our visit due to a school holiday in France. We were a couple and this arrangement would be have been great for us when our kids were small. There are free ranging chickens and roosters as well as a few resident cats roaming the property which added to the atmosphere. The kitchen facilities in the villas are cramped but having the possibility to cook basic meals like pasta and make salads outweighs this and is a welcome convenience if you don't want to eat at a restaurant all the time. It's not possible to dine inside the villas but rather there is a table and chairs on your private patio. This is good but we found it buggy at times. Outside of breakfast it is possible to get snacks during the day and evening at the bar but it's not a full-serve restaurant. It is possible to bring your own food (ie. takeout) to the bar and eat it there if you purchase drinks which are reasonably priced.
- Rhonda (8/5): Gorgeous and rich r patience in beautiful Deshaies - Beautiful, lush, rain forest feeling. Nothing to do with property but mosquitos are plentiful in evening.
- MiGi22 (10/5): Marvelous Hotel in the heart of Guadeloupe - This is a splendid hotel in a great position just close to Grande Anse (Deshaies) in Guadeloupe. Surrounded by a tropical garden full of flowers and beautiful plants, it offers small lodges granting full privacy and completed of all necessary commodities..For sure in this angle of paradise tv is not allowed :-) Breakfast is genuine and tasty. The renovated pool is nice for adults and children. Staff is friendly and kind, ready to support guests for their necessities. This is the fourth time I choose the Caraib'bay Hotel for my stay at Guadeloupe. Thank you Christophe and Catherine for this great holiday!
- 2014als (6/5): Guadeloupe holiday - We chose the hotel for its location close to the beaches and being a short drive to Deshaies. A holiday to combine A level French practice, snorkelling and exploring part of the French Antilles prompted by watching DIP during UK winters. We knew there was a risk of Dengue and although I had been reassured it was “over” I had been reading the French public health bulletins and realised otherwise, so we sprayed some of our clothes before travelling, with insecticide, used bottles of 50% Deet and long clothing, room spray etc.
The duplex apartment was well set up for a family, comfy beds and mosquito nets with a well appointed shower room and a mini kitchen in a cupboard. There was a small terrace outside with seating but we gave up trying to sit there to eat lunch, due to the amount of mosquitoes. Moving inside, the glass was frosted in the downstairs, so you couldn’t look out into the garden which I thought was a shame as the surrounding gardens and scenery were beautiful and it ended up feeling quite claustrophobic. We tried to keep all the windows and doors closed to prevent mosquitoes entering, particularly in view of the risk of Dengue, but these were left open when the room was being cleaned which didn’t help.
The pool was beautiful, its surroundings similar to a botanic garden - we enjoyed swimming but again sitting around the pool there were also mosquitoes in the daytime, luckily down by the beach it was fine.
Lots of information was provided in folders in reception on local places of interest, activities and restaurants which was really helpful and we went on two fantastic snorkelling trips.
Deshaies was very pretty and meeting The Commissioner was a highlight. The lowlight was ending up at the Hospital for Tropical diseases in London after we got back as my husband became very unwell the day after we left, and was subsequently diagnosed with Dengue, my son with another mosquito born virus. The irony of “death in paradise” was not lost on us…..
- travelerBobDc (10/5): Favorite 'hotel' in Guadeloupe - Of three places that I stayed in Guadeloupe, the Caraib' Bay was my favorite. Each 'room' is really a half of a duplex with two floors, a small kitchenette, and a new, fairly spacious bathroom. As I recall, there were two or three single beds on the ground floor with upper floor being the master bedroom. (The only bathroom is on the ground floor -- in an ideal world I would put a small bathroom upstairs -- maybe at the next renovation:-)). There is also an outdoor patio area and a nice walk through the forest to the main area with the front desk, bar, breakfast area, and pool. It is a few minutes drive back to Deshaies so you definitely want a car here -- but just about everyone visiting Guadeloupe (unless you're on a cruise ship) is going to want a rental car. From the hotel it is only about a 5 -10 minute walk to the large beach (Plage de Grande Anse). The folks at reception are happy to make dinner reservations for you and have a couple of nice binders of activities and dining. My recollection is that the wifi was good but that you have to go to the office area to use it. I don't believe there were tv's anywhere (but I totally agree with that philosophy so didn't miss it). The hotel will also lend you snorkeling equipment. Free welcome drink, good breakfast (they will make you eggs for a very reasonable charge). They even packed me something for a day when I had to leave early. Let me also plug my two favorite restaurants in the area: Beach Wav' is right down at Plage de Grande Anse but note it is lunch only; La Kaz du Douanier is in the town of Deshaies (they do two seatings per evening -- definitely recommend a reservation).
- L2652GDmargaretm (6/5): Good and bad - The accommodation was comfortable although no WiFi in the cabins. The breakfast was lovely. Our big dissappointment was that conversation with the hotel staff was shut down as soon as they realised we were English speaking and our French was poor. One server was very rude and literally tutted and walked away. It spoiled the whole visit as she continues to be rude all week. We were hoping to practise our French but we didn’t get the chance.
- R (9/5): Resting in peace in Paradise - Wonderful hosts. You are surrounded by tropical plants ,trees and the noise of the crickets, frogs and birds.at night. The beach is a five min downhill walk for sunrises / sunsets. Deshaies (for Death in Paradise fans) is a 7 min drive away. The kids didn't like having to walk to the pool area for the wifi. I had a local sim (Orange) so I could enjoy the peace in the room!
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Bequia1 (10/5): Beautiful, special place - We needed a hotel for a night in this part of Guadeloupe and ended up at the Caraib'Bay. We were only sorry that we didn't book the hotel for longer. The grounds are magical, filled with verdant greenery and flowers. Rooms are set in bungalow-type accomodations; ours was two floors and could easily have fit a family of five (it had several beds). The pool area is lovely, and fabulous Grande Anse Beach is just a short walk away. In short, this is a very special little spot; we were very sorry to leave.
- Ziering (10/5): Top-notch place to stay in Basse-Terre - This is an absolutely lovely hotel in a perfect location for exploring the northern part of Basse-Terre. The grounds are lovely, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the pool area is great, the breakfasts generous and varied - but most of all, the staff (from management to reception to housekeeping) is absolutely wonderful. During our stay we slept long and well, lounged at the pool, drank at the bar, walked to the spectacular beach down the hill, and dined at great restaurants in Deshaies. We also enjoyed to company of other travelers from all parts of the world.
Our two-week trip to Guadeloupe was complicated by some medical issues, and the staff here went above and beyond to help make our trip less stressful and more enjoyable.
A truly delightful experience in every respect. Our A/C did not function properly the day we arrived, but management sorted out the problem and had it repaired within a day.
- Juliet (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (9/5): Jungle Paradise - Excellent welcome from an English speaking receptionist. Lovely breakfast with a range of options and you can pay for eggs if wanted. We loved our accomodation although you need to be prepared for visits from wildlife!
They allow you to stay by the pool area on check-out day and there is a shower area and toilet you can use which is ideal because of the Air France evening return flights.
Great location for visiting the beaches, Grande Anse is walkable and Perle is a short drive.
Lots of fantastic restaurants in the vicinity and a small grocery shop and excellent burger van at the end of road. The pool area is starting to show some wear and tear but still a lovely and large pool.
- Hugh (10/5): Loved it! - Hotel was just a short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Good restaurants close by for which the hotel was happy to make reservations. Wonderful breakfast buffet with a mix of local fruit and French items. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Excellent daily housekeeping. No complaints!
- Dewi (8/5): Pleasant room tucked away in a peaceful jungle setting, 5 min from Grand Anse and Deshaies. - Pleasant and minimal rooms tucked away in a lush jungle-like setting. quaint and charming communal area with a bar where you can enjoy a drink (theirs or your own if the bar is closed). breakfast was simple continental but generous, fresh, well curated. Staff was mostly helpful and welcoming; Asia in particular gave us great local tips and helped with restaurants. It is QUIET here, embrace it! We appreciated that there was no wifi in the room but might be hard for others.
- Fredrik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabrielle (9/5): Lovely hotel and staff - The hotel is set in a lovely botanical garden. The duplex little houses are lovely and clean. Good air conditioning. Lovely pool.
Loved the fact it's an eco hotel.
Owners are lovely and very helpful.
Very close to La Perle beach, the police station and Catherine's bar used to film Death in Paradise. The bar is closed at 8pm so no evening entertainment and only breakfast is served so have to go out for all other meals.
The duplex have a very small kitchen for cooking basic meals.
- richard (10/5): Tranquil haven in an ideal setting. - Cariab Bay is a comfortable place with Duplex style houses surrounded by lush foliage across several winding paths. The breakfast is very good, European style, with croissants, coffee, yogurt, cheese, and fresh fruit.
Catherine and Christophe are warm and inviting people, and their staff is friendly. French is mainly spoken but they'll accommodate your English with gaps in interpretation. The beds are mostly singles, with double or full consisting of two singles pushed together. The shower was nice and hot from solar heating. The facility is eco friendly. There us a restaurant just across the road, since they don't provide dinner or lunch. The pool is unheated, and can be icy cold. My friend and I gave it a go, and felt slightly numbed by the experience. The internet only functions while near their offices in the veranda. The best fact if the hotel is it's great proximity to Gran Anse beach, and a quick drive to Deshaies where you'll find most if the restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Emplacemenr au top. Le personnel agreable et tres a lecoute.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is very well situated for a visit to what is my favorite area of Guadeloupe. Wonderful beaches and excellent food are plentiful in Deshaies. Rooms are comfortable and very spacious, situated in a tropical garden. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful to this lone traveler who speaks just a bit of French. The breakfast buffet--included in the room rate--is a very nice plus. I hope to return!
- Naline (10/5): Séjour magnifique - Très agréable, beau cadre.propreté irréprochable. Personnels accueillants, souriants, disponibles.
