Guest Reviews
- Brandon (8/5): Cosy - The location and grounds around it. Everything was good
- Sharon (10/5): -
- ken (10/5): We had attended a family wedding and our stay at Elmcroft finished - Continental breakfast was very good and the eating area was very pleasant, overlooking a large open field with horses. The room was chilly when we arrived about 9.30pm and we couldn’t
Override the radiator controls and didn’t want to bother our host.
The bathroom however was sufficiently warm and well-appointed with a lovely walk in shower.
- john (4/5): - We were booked in to the separate building from the main house and the owner was absolutely lovely and so nice to talk however in the next where we were staying was cold and the drinking water was so bad we had to by bottled water to make a cuppa of tea the drinking water was that bad . Also there wasn't a toilet brush and the double bed was two singles put togeather whitch wasnt at all comfortable however apart from that the stay we have stayed in the main building which was excellent and lovely people there The drinking water there was awfull and made us feel ill we had to fetch in bottled water. Also the double bed was uncomfortable and no toilet brush and that outside anex building is very cold
- Robert (8/5): Its just what we wanted, bed for the night. - Both were good.Noth Nothing really. Its
- MaggieTapestry (9/5): Home from Home - Des the host was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful.
The location is excellent - particularly for the Gaynes Park wedding venue which is only 10 minutes away.

- Minesh (8/5): Perfect for simple ‘sleep and go’ scenarios - Big spacious room and en-suite. Plenty of room for four adults and luggage. Spare supplies (e.g. biscuits, iron, etc) in the landing. Looking a bit tired, now. But that’s being picky!
- Alexis (8/5): -
- andrea (8/5): Great stay - Clean b and b, everything to hand, facilities great.. des really helpful.. location good on a bus route to Epping...1.5mile..
- Denise (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (7/5): A lovely stay - The B&B was off a little countryside lane. Very quiet. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast had a lot of prepackaged items. It would have been nice to have some fresh bakery items.
- Anne (7/5): Two night stay in Essex - Location was brilliant and setting was green and quiet. Des the owner was welcoming, friendly, informative, attentive and flexible on our departure time. Continental breakfast could have had more variety and less pre-packaged items.
- Przemyslaw (10/5): - The location is perfect for exploring London and the surrounding area. It's also close to Stansted Airport and the Epping tube terminus. It's a wonderful place to unwind after a long day of exploring London.
Des makes every guest feel welcome. With his friendly and intimate approach, he makes your stay truly memorable.
We especially recommend using the garden, especially for morning coffee.
- Deborah J Moore (8/5): - The host made our stay pleasurable and memorable, we felt as if we had known him for years.Ww had a small room but with the beautiful views it somehow felt larger A tad tired looking here amd there sadly
- ArtyVisitor (8/5): - We were travelling to Epping booked by our daughter Stacey to attend a funeral and the position of the hotel and the fact that we could come and go as we pleased was greatly appreciated. We were very satisfied with the accommodation being ideal for our requirements. See above we can offer nothing further
- John (10/5): The room wasn't large but the view was lovely and the room was clean the owner was great too - We didn't have the full breakfast just the continental but we wer tould to help our selves . Which was great for us Every thing was good there we enjoyed the stay there and the beds wer the most comfortable we have slept in in any hotel
- Philippa (8/5): A good choice for an overnight stay. - Our host Des was very pleasant and welcoming and the bed very comfortable. Great to have proper blackout blinds too. We would have liked some healthier breakfast options (a couple of herbal tea choices, some natural yoghurt, fresh fruit etc)

- Kelly (7/5): Was a very nice experience with a friendly and welcoming owner. - The owner Des was very friendly, thorough and welcoming the property was very comfortable and inviting with a good morning view to the front of the house. The road was a bit hard to find coming off the main road, it’s set back and not very well signposted so is hard to see.
- Caroline (8/5): Warm and friendly stay at Elmcroft - Des was an absolutely lovely host and went over and above to make me feel welcome. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Comfortable room, beautiful surroundings and a nice breakfast with decent coffee.
- P (8/5): Very good -

- Barnes (7/5): Does what it says on the tin. Thanks Des. - Breakfast was good. Des is an excellent host.
- Harriet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rose (9/5): Overall very happy & would book again - Good choice in Continental breakfast and quiet location a few miles from Epping Town which has many restaurants & coffee shops. A large faded tea stain on otherwise clean duvet cover & a long dark hair on a cushion wasn't great!
- Bateson (4/5): Chosen for location. Bed and breakfast as remembered from 1970's - Clean, warm, hot water Quality of bed linen
Lack of bath mat. Towels very poor.
Breakfast. Poor quality and

Des was really helpful, telling us about the local area and events. He was very friendly and accommodating and really made our stay.

- Mel (10/5): Exceptional - Homely and welcoming. Des is a very good host
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- David (8/5): Nice guesthouse - Good location, friendly management, easy access to rooms, good cooked breakfast. Shower was a little tight to squeeze into.
- Pankaj (1/5): Bad -
- Hammond (8/5): Great Host. Nice location -
- Liam (6/5): Lovely welcome. Comfortable but breakfast was disappointing - Lovely welcome from Des. The room was very comfortable and the shower was lovely. I felt it could have been clearer about the breakfast included in the price. Because it was a continental breakfast, i felt that it tipped the price into expensive for what was offered. What was there was plentiful but of a basic range quality. Also, I left early and couldn't find the light switch in the breakfast room so it was a little dark!
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, location, host, lovely town centre with some great restaurants, a huge Saturday Market North Weald, we just felt so comfortable. Our host Des made us feel so welcome, the atmosphere on arrival was so homely, we cannot fault anything, we would stay there again.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pieter (8/5): Very good -
- Jackie (9/5): We only stayed for one night but there was nothing we could suggest to improve on our experience - We were warmly welcomed by the hose, Des, which made us feel comfortable. There was adequate choice of items for breakfast and a proper dining room provided. Being the driver I found it a little difficult to find the entrance in the dark with no obvious sign when arriving from the M11 Harlow junction.
- Robert (8/5): Very pleasant stay. I would happily stay here again - Very clean property in a pleasant location
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (5/5): Lovely owner, Needs updating - The owner was lovely and very accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. The place was a bit dated, areas of the room were not clean including the surface the tea/ coffee making items were on. Breakfast was very basic.
- Roy (8/5): Nice countryside getaway with a lovely host. Thanks Des! - Decent size room, cosy lighting, very clean sheets, bathroom facilities all in good working order, easy access to extra items if needed, e.g extra bath towels. Very friendly & helpful host, who also respected our privacy. Beautiful landscaped garden & decent patio seating. Just a bit more choices for the continental breakfast - e.g bigger variety of cereal choices for healthier options (e.g weetabix, bran flakes, & brown sugar). Suggest cheese is provided in individual small packs, as the normal size packet was left open so the top part of the cheese was hard/dry (perhaps a recent guest). Just friendly tips! No major issues.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Overall Elmcroft Guesthouse a good place to stay. Nothing
- Robert (8/5): Pleasant, host friendly and accomodating. Garden lovely - Host was helpful in getting an additional type of milk to soya. Lactose free so not non-dairy but I appreciated the effort Breakfast - everything in packets, croissants, muffins etc and bread so nothing fresh. We went for cooked breakfast which was fine if a little scant.
You had to pay extra for filtered coffee which we decided not to do.
Location- didn't like M11 was close by and noisy
- Russell (7/5): Good - Breakfast was fairly basic.
- Garry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): great - lovely location it was everything we needed
- Johneen (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed here while visiting friends in Epping and were very satisfied
- Iga (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (10/5): Lovely big characterful house in a great location. - Des is a lovely host and so helpful. The house is lovely and spacious, our bedroom was huge with a lovely big bath and views across the pasture. Its a great location for Epping and The Barns (weddings).
- Thea (10/5): i wish I could stay one more week - the accommodation was excellent, very neat and clean. The host was kind, accommodating, always ready to help. A very nice and pleasant person. The breakfast is perfect and abundant.
if I ever come back to Epping or close by, I will always look for that particular house.
beautifully arranged garden, flowers, grass, hedges, very tidy.
we had a great time.
the room is large, spacious, the bed is comfortable! everything was just perfect!
- Joanna (10/5): Lovely peaceful property. Would stay again - Lovely property and the host was wonderful. Good location for restaurants pubs and shops .
- Simon (10/5): Will definitely stay again. Host was so friendly and welcoming - Good location
Fantastic host
Comfortable bed Decor very tired and dated
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Vinay (9/5): Superb - Appreciated that Desmond gave me advice and a bit leeway on leaving due to the bike ride that was happening on the day I left. All fine
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Mohammed (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tanya (6/5): Pleasant - Very comfy bed. Room was not clean, dust visible and mould around bathroom fitting, toilet not clean. Needs a big revamp, also breakfast is help ur self to stuff left out, we didn't fancy it and went to Epping to find breakfast.
- Gillian (8/5): We were very pleased with our stay - The breakfast was good and the room was warm. The staff was very friendly and we would stay there again Everything was good so can’t think of anything
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - Loved this place, wish I could have stayed longer. No room at the airport hotels and this was my closest option. Lovely. I arrived late and left very early, but I was very comfortable and felt safe and welcomed.
- Savill (8/5): A lovely, comfortable respite. Thank you for your kindness. - how amenable and kind Des is. very comfy beds. quiet. great parking. great communication. wish we’d had time to enjoy a full English, but we had to head off.
- David (8/5): Excellent and friendly - Very friendly and would use again.
- Luke (7/5): Good -
- Ray (8/5): Very good -
- Fliss (8/5): A very pleasant guest house not far from London - The room was comfortable, especially the bed. It is in a quiet location too. A basic continental breakfast is included in the price of the room, but the option of a full English breakfast would have been good.
