- Sergio (10/5): Excellent - Everything None
- Sergio (10/5): Amazing - Great Everything
- Joseph (8/5): Charming Cabin Stay Over Labor Day Weekend - We spent Labor Day weekend here with two friends and had such a great experience. I’ll admit, I was initially hesitant when I saw that the property was “clothing optional” — I wasn’t sure what to expect. But when we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. The clothing-optional pool is well-maintained and surrounded by a fence, so it felt private and comfortable. Honestly, it was easy to enjoy the setting without feeling awkward or out of place.
The property itself is beautiful — flowers everywhere, which gave it a really welcoming and peaceful feel. We even saw an employee out pruning the gardens, which added to the charm and care that’s clearly put into the place.
The cabins are cute, quaint, and nicely spaced out around the property, which made it feel roomy and relaxed even though it was a holiday weekend and fully booked. The owner was warm and welcoming at check-in, and the overall vibe of the property was calm, pleasant, and far better than I expected.
My two friends especially loved the pool area and the relaxing atmosphere, and I left feeling the same way. Overall, it was a charming experience, and I would absolutely stay here again. Overall great experience!
- Christopher (10/5): Great pool! - What a wonderful retreat in the woods!
- Robin (8/5): Perfect central location. Good for gay couple - Great cabin, perfect location, good pool area. A lovely balcony to watch the sunset. The property needs a refresh as is a little tired but this brings with it some charm, so I didn’t mind this. The room rate was high. The water for the shower took a long time to warm up.
- Sergio (10/5): Amazing - Exceptional Everything
- Sergio (10/5): -
- Darren (5/5): Charming place for mostly creepy nudists. - The charm is what to be expected in Guerneville, with the disorganization and some dilapidation, but could use some improvements (organize the outdoor area and make basic fixes).
- Ana (10/5): We are definitely coming back! I love this place and we’re so grateful for the attention we received! - The place is amazing and quiet. Super clean and dog friendly. Danny went out of her way to make us feel like family and she was excellent! She made us feel very welcome and went above and beyond to make us fell me like home away from home while on vacation. Thank you Danny for everything! She was excellent in every thing we needed and she helped us recover a bag that we left behind. She is the best! The service was amazing. Michael is the manager and he is a sweetheart. Kim and Danny are great and so amazing and attentive to details. They are the best!
- Nicholas (10/5): Beautiful spot in Guerneville - An amazing stay - thank you for everything!
- Edgar (10/5): Exceptional -

- Angie (6/5): This is a centrally located place to stay in Guerneville but not worth the price - Beautiful garden and nice heated pool Very small room
- Sergio (10/5): Extraordinary - Everything None
- William (3/5): Other than being in the town of Guerneville and convenient to bars and restaurants and the Safeway, I would not recommen - Location Everything else. Crappy room for the $. Place is falling apart. Tacky.
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Kelly Jo (10/5): - I loved this property!! The managers are very welcoming. The rooms are very clean. The pool was really refreshing. The coffee station was perfect for my mornings!
- mary (10/5): - The Woods Resort offers a great experience with its kind and responsive staff, creating a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. The resort maintains high standards of cleanliness, contributing to a great overall vibe. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
- Chris (7/5): Pleasant stay in an iconic gay-friendly rural town. - Great location and friendly staff. Rustic cabin with a good bed and a very good shower. A nice family of cats lives there. Pleasantly quiet, though I imagine it can get more busy and social at certain times. The little porch on our cabin did not seem safe so we were afraid to sit on it. We saw that the porches on the other cabins seemed more level and had been repaired/reinforced.
The cabin needed a comfortable chair.
The whole place could probably use a refresh.
- Sergio (10/5): Excellent - Everything None
- Claudia (10/5): Perfect place to stay, and return to! - Our cabin room was comfortable and warm, and well appointed. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. N/a. I liked everything.
- Dani (8/5): Very good - Everything pretty much! Location was awesome There was no milk or creamer or sugar for the coffee
- Paolo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Convenient location, clean and friendly. Ample easy parking - Location We were on the backside so the view of old trailers and shacks was not in their control
- Ray (10/5): - Just a real nice relaxed pl, great place to stay
- Peter (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hannah (10/5): Very pleasant if short stay - I ended up arriving right before Kimberly was done with her shift and she was so sweet and helped me find parking and get me to my room!
- Sergio J (10/5): - Always the best
- Wouter (6/5): Fine hotel, but needs a little makeover - Location is great, nice bed, quiet area The place is in need of an upgrade. Rooms are fine but lack the quality you’d expect for the price you pay.
- Sergio J (10/5): - Love this place . Friendly nice awesome to relax and have a great time.
- John (10/5): - The Woods is a beautiful property with an abundance of colorful flowers, a heated sparkling clean pool, and a clean room with lots of amenities I've already booked a return visit.
- Cris (9/5): Superb - The bed was a bit too soft.
- Sergio J (10/5): - Love this place . So quiet nice love the pool everything
- David (9/5): Superb - romantic. rustic, pretty accomodating pleasant clothing optional no hot tub. it was kind of cold but that's the climate!
- Sergio (10/5): Exceptional -

- Rita (10/5): Exceptional - it’s peaceful and best customer service
- Ramon (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jason (8/5): Very good - location off season so pool was off and there was no one else there.
- Ibrahim (10/5): Exceptional - great location, friendly owners! n/a
- Anonymous (10/5): great get away to feel like you are in the forest and cabin experience - great location and great staff comfortable nice location
- Giuseppe (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (7/5): Good -
- Logan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Drum (7/5): Good -
- Matthew (10/5): - Michael, Kimberley, and Danielle were excellent hosts. It was easy to upgrade. My room was very clean and comfortable. My purpose was to rest and regroup. Great to have clothing optional and a pool.
- Roger (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Had a fantastic weekend spent here!
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Carlos (10/5): - A very relax ambiance...
- Jason (10/5): - I had rented a smaller room. However, the hot water did not work. Michael, the owner, gave me an upgrade without charging me for it. The upgrade was fantastic. Whenever I needed anything, he was always free to help. I especially adored Danielle. She was more than helpful as well as sweet. She even was extra helpful with my service dog Roxie. The place is quiet; unlike the other LGBT restoration next door, the heated pool was larger and more comfortable. I recommend this place. The week I spent allowed me to make up for lost sleep.
- Stephen (10/5): I'll be back! - Friendly staff, great location to Main Street shops and restaurants, hotel with character and charm, great heated pool. I look forward to coming back.
- Jason (10/5): - Excellent area, fantastic staff and beautiful property.
- Justin (8/5): - If you are looking for a relaxed get-away, The Woods is a good choice. With a heated pool, a mixture of private cabins and rooms surrounding it, and five-minute walks for breakfast, lunch, dinner, groceries and gifts, its an uncomplicated sort of way to enjoy a weekend. There are a bunch of destinations around it like the river, a very scenic drive to the coast, and redwood forests all around.
- Jan Tomas (6/5): Friendly place that need an update. - Friendly and welcoming staff. The room was small but ok in size. The bed was terrible, it was so soft that one of us fell out during the night and we are not large. The air condition unit is louder than a jet engine taking off.
- virgil (10/5): - I've stayed there many times because I always enjoy my time there.
- Christopher (10/5): - Everything was great. The only thing was I couldn't get the TV Cable to work. Since I was up there to rest, I didn't want to make an issue of it.
- Sandra (8/5): - Great location. Friendly staff.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Nice quick walk to town, cute funky. Felt safe
- BRADLEY BAKER (8/5): - Wonderfully quiet, clean, safe...except for daytime construction work and noise adjacent to swimming pool during the day :-(
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful staff, great location, and super relaxing.
- Sarah (8/5): Location!! - Prefect location! Can walk to the river and restaurants! The pool was lovely with ample seating and umbrellas. The landscaping is somewhat of a marvel! So pretty!!They could upgrade their mattresses and pillows- for $250 a night, I’m hoping to sleep in a comfortable bed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Been there many times always enjoy my stay. Close to action but quiet when I return to my room for a good nights sleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall I enjoyed staying at The Woods Hotel; it looks like they are in the process of renovating parts of the property, kudos for the management; decent price and very friendly guests; I could have used some help bringing up my luggage, but then again, I didn't ask; there were some areas that needed some obvious sprucing up, but overall it was neat and clean; a small table in the room to eat on would be a nice addition. I would definitely stay again. Very walkable to downtown shops and restaurants. I'm LGBT so the fact that most, not all, but most other guests were LGBT made the visit more enjoyable. Two popular gay bars are also within walking distance. I enjoyed visiting nearby quant towns. Overall the area is a bit rustic, not a high end area, but a great escape from the noise of the city, and close to San Francisco too, only a 1.5 hour drive.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property was old and run down, probably the victim of age, frequent floods and the pandemic. The room was small and crowded but adequate for our needs. The town of Gueneville is also rundown and hardly a resort town to justify the cost of the room. I've stayed at worst places but no many
- Erika (8/5): I would say again - My stay was comfortable, everything was pretty clean.
Hotel look a little run down but everything was working and efficient, location was great in town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quiet. Clean. Comfortable. Renovated room. View from room. The abundance of blooming rose bushes around the pool. The surrounding redwoods. The abundant sunshine. The pool area with lots of chaise longues. Nice manager for check-in. The untidiness of the entrance way was the only sore point, but untidiness around the edges seems typical of Guerneville in general.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a beautiful, well maintained resort! It is relaxing and the perfect spot for a quiet getaway
- Verified traveler (2/5): - No hot water for shower or sink provided. Gap in door to see thru into hallway. Unsafe locking mechanism on door.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and friendly. This was a perfect place to get away and relax☺️
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was nice. Close to downtown and to the Russian River
- Theresa (10/5): - Warm welcome as we were shown to our room. We were 1 block away from all of the action and we enjoyed the quiet, relaxing environment.
The pool was large and sparkling clean! It’s a great town with walking access to kayaks on the river. We drove out to Jenner and also up i to the Coastal Redwoods.
I look forward to returning.
Note that the hotel is gay friendly. My husband I felt like we were welcome and treated very well. We enjoyed our trip and the guests we met were fun and considerate, playing music by the pool.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Liked the garden, buildings are old and rustic. Were very disappointed with customer service and how staff handled internet problem. We had to pack up and leave the night before as had important business call and zoom meeting and needed to have internet. Manager didn"t apology or provide any refund
- Jeff (8/5): Nothing fancy but clean and easy - My wife and I needed a last minute place to stay in Guerneville. The checkin process was easy, and the room was clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing, friendly, beautiful resort loved my stay valentine weekend getaway
- matthew (10/5): great stay! - extremely clean and comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): Weekend Getaway - Excellent experience, nice, quaint getaway for a weekend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was fine for the price but hot water was a sometime thing
- Dennis (8/5): - Although the staff was very frienly and accomodating, there should be someone available (in person or by phone) to assist with issues as they arise during datime business hours. Loved the peace and quiet. Very clean grounds and room.
- Shane (10/5): Friendly and comfortable Stay - Very nice property staff was extremely friendly. Looks like they were just finishing up a remodel on the outside on some of the Cottages but other than that everything else was completely remodeled including the inside of the rooms
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bed sagging very small room
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place is just low key and central. Walking distance to restaurants on main street. the staff was wonderful and accommodating. We had a great time!
- Sheri (10/5): - Kimberly and Mike were very friendly and helpful. The place has all your basic amenities, a beautiful flower and tree lined courtyard with a pool in the middle.
I arrived the week after the 4th of July festivities and missed the crowds. It was brilliant, I had the resort and pool to myself. I couldn’t have asked for anything more — I left San Francisco for a few days of solitude and quiet moments and that’s what I indulged in.
I can’t wait to come back again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff friendly with nice pool surrounded by a beautiful garden. They are still working on recovering from the floods as well as the rest of the town is still doing repairs unfortunately. So, rooms and businesses are not completely up and running yet.
- Drew (4/5): - The rooms were charming and appointed nicely with antique furniture. Bathroom was very large.
Checking in was odd as the office door was locked and had to buzz an intercom for entry. The satellite system kept going out so no TV. Check out involved dropping room key into a lock box...wasnt able to get a printout of an invoice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Mostly quiet and comfortable. - The basic room has no chair. The town is walkable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Enjoyable Stay - Peaceful. WiFi kept dropping.
