Guest Reviews
- Nathen (8/5): - You get what you pay for lol
- Debbie (4/5): - Not much to like. Air conditioner couldn’t cool the room. Bed was comfortable.
- Curt (10/5): - The facilities were clean and the staff was very friendly and kind. For the price I would recommend this place
- Laura (2/5): - Poor amenities, very dirty
- karen (4/5): - The property is in poor condition the rooms are not in good shape.
- Jaden (10/5): - Good stay for a night or two
- Jacob (2/5): - I'd suggest people don't make mistake I made and cross-reference reviews on Expedia with the ones on google-maps.
Overall, the place looks rundown, but that would not be a big deal if not for the condition of the bed linens, featuring noticeable stains and cigarette burns.
Due to these cleanliness issues, we choose not to stay in that place overnight.
- Janet (4/5): - A very old and not well kept up. It is forsale. Our room was clean enough but the carpet in the has was filthy.
- Caitlin (6/5): Interesting - This particular motel is actually for sale, and its condition is definitely on a downward trajectory. It is in dire need of deep cleaning and maintenance upgrades.
The owner was friendly, as well as other staff, and guests, but the overall quality of the building was poor.
They have a restaurant advertised on the website, but is no longer functioning.
They do have a bar, but we do not drink alcohol and never patronized the facility.
It was quiet, which we appreciated, and the air conditioner was working, thank goodness. It ran no stop the whole time we were there. The outside temperature was high, and our room faced south.
The quality of the linens was average, but the pillows themselves were in dire need of cleaning, or replacing. The curtains over the windows sufficed, but again, needed cleaning and repair. The carpet also needed to be cleaned.
The towels provided were of good quality.
There was only one small mirror in bathroom, which was disappointing. We were in the area for a wedding, but were unable to view ourselves in a full length mirror. I would have appreciated one in the room.
The room itself was a good size, so no complaints there.
There is no elevator and our room was on the second floor.
My husband and I each had to make two trips up and down the stairs, to unload our belongings, and then again when we vacated. The stairs to the second floor were curved and carpeted, extremely dirty, and the step depth was not adequate for safety reasons.
- Senna (10/5): - The staff was great. Very helpful. Super comfy bed. So quiet that I slept like a baby. Easy checkout system. Will definitely be back again!
- Tuhin (4/5): - Shelf drawers had droppings, coffee machine had coffee and white patches in the water chamber. A/c has a gap on the side.
- Megan (2/5): - Sketchy people, dirty bathroom, stained sheets. Most of the staff was pleasant and the googly eyes decor was nice
- Dennis (4/5): - Very old and dirty. Smells funny. First room we were in the bed collapsed cause a leg broke off and so we moved to a second room. The shower head was falling off in this bathroom and the taps dripped all night long.
- laura (4/5): - Gross hotel room
- Nadene (4/5): - No one at front desk. Bar staff checked us in. Janitor in the room when we arrived. Uncleanly, cold, and noisy. Honestly was scared to stay over night. Would not recommend.
- jenny (10/5): - Comfortable and affordable room!
- Senna (10/5): - Great location, comfy bed, super clean room. Quiet small town is very safe. Great price. Lots of parking for my rig.
- Kathy (4/5): - Bountiful ladybugs in room. Self eliminated from our room.
- Francis (6/5): - Conveniently close to the nursing home where i was visiting my brother.
- CHARITY (8/5): - Nice room, quiet and comfy. Wonderful and friendly man working the front.
- Jaden (10/5): - Great
- Donna R (4/5): - The bed was new the new flooring in the area rugs used to be. Good. The Decameron is friendly but being he is sellling his property don’t care The door lock could use a dead bolt. A sprinkler in the lobby is blocked. The furniture in the lobby is thread bear. The room was dusty the air conditioning did not work there was a dead bug in a glass by the coffee pot. Coffee pot not clean resaraunt was not open. So can’t judge that. Covid was not kind to this owner he has long term stays that are people down on there luck.
- dan (2/5): - Mouse poop in the room
- Stuart (2/5): - How would you feel if you walked into the room and the coffee pot was burning. Then you check the bed and pubic hairs are every where. Then you're told by your company that payment was not due till the end of your stay which the management asked for right away.
Then the management lies to you and then to your company and screws me out of over 2 hundred dollars. Then you're company believes them above you.
- Cory-lee (2/5): - Very bad intro, the staff was outside smoking when we pulled up and took a minute to come in, when we got in it reaked like cigarettes, rooms were okay, stains on the bed :( and a cat roaming around
- Daris (2/5): - Never stay here. So dirty. No staff around. My son wouldn’t even shower in the room. It’s cheap but should be free. And if you have allergies, a cat lives in the building.
- Alanna (2/5): - Just don’t stay here. Smell of smoke was overwhelming…… even after showering I feel like I smell like 1975….water pressure in shower was good and gentleman was friendly at the front desk. This place was beyond dirty. We will not be back.
- steve (2/5): - Cleaning is not a priority
- Derek (4/5): - Friendly owner and cat. Don’t expect too much but a place to sleep.
- LYNNE (4/5): - This property is used mostly to house homeless people. It is extremely outdated and I found a piece of pizza in the microwave. The owners are only on site from 2 pm to 8 pm so that is the only time a person can register and no one is available if you have a question.
- Jatinder (2/5): - Dirty
- Cheryl (6/5): Not how it appears - The picture is deceiving. It looks cute but in teality...not maintained. They rent by the week and month so the clientele was interesting. Says cafe but not open. Price was reasonable and we lived the house cats. Gave the place a little sunshine.
- Hannu (10/5): - Regular place to stay quick easy check in friendly
Convenient
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The bathroom had blank spots in the shower and the shower head has a crack in it so water everywhere. The floors hadn't been swept and the screen in the window was broken so had to keep window closed to keep more bugs out. The tv was broken or first night but the manager was so kind and replaced it for our second night. Wifi want that great as it kept kicking is off. We also had someone knocking on our door both nights at 3:45am the first night and at 1:45 the second night.
The only thing that made it worth while was the manager who was so kind to us and the fact our dog was very welcomed.
- J Bentley (8/5): - This motel is older but clean and quiet check in/out was easy enjoyed the hotel pub the locals were friendly can’t beat the $3.50 bottles of beer I’ve been here before and plan on coming back
- Mike (6/5): - Microwave should be updated
- Steven (10/5): - Pub directly connected to the motel, which we didn't know in advance but a great surprise after a long day's drive.
- Rackham (2/5): - Tried to contact front desk numerous times and couldn't find anyone, no response by phone, no response at front desk. Don't even think about staying here!!!
- Harry (8/5): Budget hotel with character - A satisfactory stay for one night. There was an odour of cigarette smoke but mild enough to ignore. Bathroom was clean, though dated and in need of attention. Warm greeting provided by the friendly resident cat.
- Rchard (10/5): - I really liked the price. I travel a lot and this place is a great value. Very clean & comfy room with great wifi. Friendly staff. Super clean air & water in this small town. Fruitvale
seems much quieter & safer than staying in a bigger city like Castlegar or Trail. Thank you Expedia for finding me this awesome hotel
- Nancy (6/5): - It was cheap but the hotel needs a complete overhaul
- Jackee (6/5): - The hotel is old need to update to today building standard
- Sheila (2/5): - The property was dirty. We found dirty socks under the bed and a used facecloth in the tub. We felt dirtier getting out of the shower than getting in. I would not recommend this place.
- george (6/5): - Pub good, hotel old, run down
- Greg (8/5): - Convenient liquids( Pub / offsales liquors ) , quiet ,,, no rain for two days while i was there !!!
- Hope (2/5): - The long term residence are literal crackheads.
- Anita (4/5): - They stated extra clean, there was water stains all over bathroom walls, they installed window air conditioning, which was great but left a 1/4 inch gap around the wood so you got complimentary free moths in room when lights were on at night, then the manager told us if we turned off our lights we would not get moths. What are we supposed to do sit in our room in the dark?
- Deb (8/5): - Affordable and adequate.
- Hardy (8/5): Its there! - Friendly staff. Dated motel. No AC. Very weak wifi in my room. Ancient (but working!!) TV. Good coffeemaker.
- Joyce (8/5): - It was all good!
- John (4/5): - Rooms need updating. Mold and mildew, cigarette burns on tiles. Staff are nice!
- Chen (10/5): Good - Good
- Chen (10/5): Good - Good
- Rochelle (6/5): - It was an alright stay... do not expect anything and you won't be disappointed!
- Stan (8/5): - Great for a one night stop over - the facility is in line for the price.
- Karyl (6/5): - This is an older property. Electrical was worrisome and this place needs to be rewired. Beds were comfortable and this was appreciated.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Motel is in pretty rough shape and while room was clean the decor and furnishings were all extremely worn and worse for wear. Carpets filthy. However we did have peace and quiet at night. Disliked that no staff on site or available until early afternoon until only 5pm. The staff members we did manage to talk to we’re friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The Inn is old and renovations are happening in the bar and cafe but the rooms need a lot of work. I have never stayed in a room that did not have a clock or tissue. No way in hell would I have taken a bath. Grout repairs in the bathroom looked like they had been done by a 4 year old. Pillows were disgusting and I heard stories the sheets were never changed and the floors left my slippers black.Stay at your own risk..
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very convenient and affordable room. I have heard good things about the pub I will come back after covid and try this location again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Acceptable spot fir a small community. Will likely pursue another spot in the area be t time.
- Amanda (8/5): Stay again! - Nice staff. Clean room
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nothing about this is special but that's what you get for the price.
- Donna (2/5): - The bathroom fixture was dangerously hanging. The bathroom fan did not work. Had 1 coffee filter for 2 nights/3 days - had to ask for more. No cutlery or dishes. No toaster. Dirty facecloth. Dusty room. Sheets & blankets smelled like cigarettes or not clean
- Ruth (8/5): - Very accommodating staff!
My dog was very welcome.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Won’t go back!!!! - Owner had no desire to be helpful (even in COVID 19 crisis with a simple request of salt as I needed to gargle with salt. Got told “Go to Walmart”) Changes office hours to whatever she wants. Room not stocked nicely or professionally. Felt like the place was self managed....
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was really good I really like it
If i have to stay in fruitvale
- Brad (8/5): - All was good. Good value. No issues at all. I would atay again..
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Filthy and had to ask for clean bedding as no one was able to clean the room on nights as i was working nightshift
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Wasn't the cleanest place fairly noisy during the day we were working nights wouldn't recommend it
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Easy commute to where we needed to be each day, awesome parking
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner stayed up late to allow us to check in after traveling ~10 hours over the border. We found our stay very accommodating.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I was disappointed I wasn't told the restaurant was closed. That was one of the reasons I chose this place. In the room u get only one pack of coffee, and the front desk doesn't open till noon.
- Sammy (6/5): - There are not a lot of hotels in the surrounding area that accept dogs so choices are limited and the Villagers Inn does at an extra charge of $10 which. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and accomodating! The location is great and the mexican restaurant is surprisingly very good with great service! The pictures are misleading as the Inn is in need of repair, updating and a good cleaning but the cost of your stay is on the lower end for a spacious room. Air conditioner is just big enough to make 33 degrees comfortable and my recommedation is ask to view the room prior to paying.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Overall the property was old and rundown. Only other guests were long term rednecks. No safety locks on door. Plumbing in poor condition as was electrical.. Even though we had paid for an extra night we left and absorbed the cost rather than staying the extra night. Am not sure if I will take Expedias recommendations again. You should take this property off your listing. Wife would not sit on their dirty chairs.
- tom (8/5): Best Value within 50km of Trail. - Staff were very nice. Room had laminate floor which was nice. Maybe get some newer cover sheets for beds. I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The front desk lady was very friendly. The pizza in the restaurant was good. The hotel is old but if you a
- Mila (6/5): - On their website it said "room with separate entrance". But there is no separate entrance. Also, TV didn't work.
- Krista (10/5): - Nice place to stay.
Restaurant on site is excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rooms are big and spacious, beds are comfortable, owner is very nice. easy to find. right next door to a very unique pawn shop!
- DL (4/5): - The Inn had a good location since I was looking for Fruitvale, but it is older, worn out and in need of some loving.
- Ed (4/5): Tired - Hotel is run down and tired, smells old. Stick a fork in it, its done.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very disappointing - We had 3 rooms booked. 2 of the rooms had been upgraded and were ok. Our room was dirty, extremely hot with air conditioner not working, very smelly and the beds were awful. We asked for help and they said that was all they had and everything in town was booked up. Then we asked for a refund and that process took over half an hour. We were not impressed as it was late and we had a 4 hour drive home. I would not recommend this motel to anyone.
- Kary (10/5): - Lovely hotel right on highway 3. Very close to champions lake. Nice staff. Great stay will be back.
- Isabella (6/5): The only hotel that had a vacancy in the Trail are - The girl who checked us in and the other lady were very accommodating,
- Verified traveler (4/5): In desperate need of renovating and updating. - Need new beds!! They must be 30 years old!! If not more! We asked for newly renovated room,,,,,, well maybe it was 20 years ago!! Wouldn't recommend.
- ron (8/5): cost effective - Good room for the price.
