- handyrzz (10/5): Very convenient and comfortable hotel - Quiet and comfortable room with a bath and a view as requested. Friendly receptionist who allowed us to check in early and check out without any rush. Good, seemingly secure, on site parking. Excellent riverside location within a few minutes pleasant walk of Niort attractions, restaurants and cafes. Reception closed in the evening and access via code pad.
- JerPag (10/5): Nice comfortable, quiet hotel, centrally located - This hotel is very well located a mere 10 minutes' walk to the city centre, next to the river (hence the name, "Windmill Hotel"). The secure and secluded car park can be very much appreciated when travelling with a full car, although one must not be afraid of hill starts when exiting! The personnel is pleasant, discreet and professional, and the reception area quite welcoming. The rooms are simple, but well organized and very comfortable. Having stayed on the car park side, we spent a very quiet night. When we visited, breakfast consisted of "continental" breakfast options only, but the self-service bar was well socked with quality products (including some locally-made yoghurts), which woudl easily and contentedly fill the traveller for the day. A nice, reasonably priced place that we would definitely consider staying at again if/when we visit Niort again.
- Anne (8/5): Bon niveau de prestation - Bon niveau de confort et accueil sympathique
Les chambres donnant côté rue sont toutefois bruyantes et on ne peut laisser la fenêtre ouverte, vive donc la climatisation...
- JOHN (8/5): - Good location, walking distance to restaurants and sites to visit. Ask for a room not facing the street or you’ll hear the cars. We were unlucky to have construction work wake us up in the morning.
- 09Don (8/5): A recommander- not to be missed. - Quiet location,, well maintained, secure parking, Air Conditioned, and less than 10 min. pleasant walk to center with all restaurants and shops. Superb breakfast and thanks for excellent service from hotel personnel.
- David (10/5): Ambiance in Historic Niort - We often stay at this hotel. We like the ambiance and the staff is charming.
- likemike-nl (4/5): Not for business - Very basic hotel at walking distance from the center. Stayed here for business, but not recommended. The rooms don't have any iron and only 1 proper coat hanger. Bathroom looked nothing like the pictures and only shower gel was provided. No shampoo or conditioner. There was a bath with hand shower without any curtains to keep the floor dry.
Internet connection was quite slow and breakfast area very dark in the morning.
- Peter (8/5): Great centrally located venue - A very pleasant hotel . Very comfortable room with excellent facilities.
Lovely breakfast
- jberku965066 (10/5): Very nice hotel - Good hotel with very nice staff
Room is clean and good shower
Very good parking .
Breakfast can be better but we will come back fore a new stay .
Hotel is near the city center
Only 400 meters away from the nice restaurants
- Stephen (8/5): Lovely stay in medieval Niort - Niort is an historic town with a large pedestrian area. Our hotel by the river is very comfortable and has secure parking and accepts pets. Only one complaint - the taxi service to and from the restaurant zone of La Breche, about 3 to 4 minutes away cost €30 which was a bit of a rip-off.
- Cmalone857 (4/5): Satisfactory for one night but tiny rooms and no night reception - Booked via booking.com and was largely impressed with the reviews.
The hotel is well located and has free parking. It is next to the river and just a five minute walk to the town centre.
Note that reception closes at 8pm and you will need to email the hotel if you intend to arrive after this time. Similarly, once a guest, you can enter the hotel with a code after reception closes.
The room was minuscule and was classed as a twin however both beds were next to each other. There is virtually no storage whatsoever other than two small shelves which are hidden by a curtain.
There is an external door going out to a corridor however it is not a balcony as you can simply walk the entire length of the building.
The tiny bathroom was modern with a good shower however the size of the room was a disappointment.
The hotel is satisfactory for one night. Any more would be an issue. I can not recommend the hotel however due to the tiny rooms and the lack of night reception.
The hotel is also poor value for money at €75 per night which does not include breakfast.
- GoPlaces41547970706 (8/5): Cosy & well situated - Cosy reception & nice welcoming. My room was confortable and offered all the needed amenities. Excellent situation as the center of Niort is in very short walking distance. Friendly staff and provide helpfull information for discovering the area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was very small. The beds were OK though and the free parking was appreciated. A workman walked into our room without knocking as we were having an afternoon nap!
- Glenn (8/5): Functional Hotel in Excellent Location - Typical business hotel with adequate facilities in good location close to the town centre and the river. The breakfast was basic for the price. The room air conditioner was still set to heat although the outside temperature reached 29C during our stay
- LargelyMonk (8/5): Decent hotel Good value - Admittedly this was midweek December but at less than 60 euros, this is a comfortable, clean hotel with friendly staff and free parking right next to the river which makes you 5 minutes walk from the Donjon and Les Halles. Not a big room but a very good shower, comfortable bed and decent facilities. They do breakfast which is a good option as we tried to find a cafe which did petit dejeuner and couldn’t
- 958nicolaf (10/5): Great hotel in a lovely town - we booked this as a stop over on the way to Biarritz, however i'd have happily stayed for a few nights. Niort is lovely some fantastic bars and restaurants and extremely pretty with lots of lovely walks around the river.
It was great to find such a lovely hotel which was also dog friendly.
The staff are really nice, the rooms clean, modern with pretty views and it was reasonably priced.
I've recommended it to friends and would definitely stay here again
- Alfred (10/5): Great hotel in good location - Very good hotel, great for offering a family room option. Very friendly staff. Third time I stayed her in transit through France, consistently good.
- David (10/5): Nice hotel made great by its helpful friendly staf - We booked a comfort room which is worth the extra expense.
The hotel is a little dated in places but then it is comfortable and clean and the beds are great.
The hotel however is lifted above the average by its staff who are friendly and helpful and always seem willing to help out (2 extra blankets were quickly provided when requested by my wife. Also a table was booked for us at a local resturant when we enquired about good places to eat)
- Patricia (10/5): - Very comfortable, easy to find, friendly people, not to far from some nice restaurants.
- Happytraveller58m (10/5): What a find - After a poor start in Paris at Hotel Parc Saint Severin.
We spent a night at a 14 century Chateau in LYON La Foret where our faith in French the hospitality, dramatically improved, as we got what we paid for and not what the hotel had left to give us after giving our room away to someone else.
We moved on to Saint Malo and explored the French coastline up to Mont Saint Michel and stayed at Hotel Beaufort, a charming hotel right on the Beach. And yes we got exactly what we paid for a lovely lovely room. With a great view, our faith in French hospitality almost totally restored. We moved on to Niort, Hotel du Moulin wow, what a surprise packet we got a quiet room as requested and again we got exactly what we asked for and the staff even with petit English were able to assist us with no problem at all, they recommended a lovely little restaurant where no one spoke English.
Again no problem, with the assistance of Fransciore who was able to translate for us and we had the perfect night.
Thank you Niort and Shame on you Hotel Parc Saint Severin Paris, aside from that we have had a marvellous time in France.
Stay tuned a lot more to come from Sarlat & Rocamadour in the Dogdoyne what an area to visit the Midi Pyrenees are just gorgeous.
Drivings not easy when you're an Aussie, but the reward is worth it cause you can't get that on Bus or a Train.

- frances (8/5): Nice hotel very close to shops - Staff were helpful and spoke enough English to communicate. Room was comfortable and so was the bed which is always a bonus. A quaint town which suited as we were only doing a one night stopover. Breakfast typically French so quite basic. A good experience would return if in the area again.
- Alfred (8/5): - Great little hotel, good family room setup (much spacier than an equivalent at say Ibis or Campanile). Second time I booked this place on our family holiday trip. Great front desk staff, and convenient breakfast. Loving it.
- Thomas (10/5): Overnight stay enroute to St Malo - We have stayed here twice before, the staff are very friendly and the rooms are immaculately clean. Well worth paying a bit extra for Superior Room. Hotel is real value for money
- Graham (8/5): - Hotel is very central for the restaurants and bars in the evening as there is no restaurant at the hotel.
Extremely lovely staff very helpful.
- Thomas (8/5): Convenient & clean - Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. The room was immaculately clean
- Steven (10/5): Well located and good customer service - Really enjoyed our stay. Comfortable room, great location and we were really happy with the service provided. Breakfast was extra but good value and decent quality. We are due to stay again in Niort in the near future and will be looking to book again at this hotel if possible. The lady who checked s in when we arrived was extremely pleasant an helpful.
- Fred (10/5): Perfect Family Hotel in the middle of the city - Easy to find, very friendly and helpful staff. Quick check-in (no forms to be filled out or anything). Good advise / orientation on food options. Hotel was freshly renovated and in tip-top shape. With a family room available (double+single bed), a very good value for us on our holiday trip. Only challenge could be the parking lot which could be full if you arrive late and all rooms are booked.
- Michele (10/5): France as we like it - It was a quick overnight arriving very late and leaving early
- Anthony (8/5): Great hotel to break up a long journey - We stayed for one night on a journey down to the south of France. A great stop over hotel and not too far to walk into the town centre. Breakfast was well laid out and plentiful.
- Keith (10/5): Perfect for overnight stay. - Nice riverside location, good car park, friendly, helpful service. Standards of cleanliness high throughout hotel, had a great sleep in comfortable double bed. Good selection for continental breakfast option. Would definitely use again for a stopover on way to Dordogne. Niort also a pleasant place to stay, we took a walk along river and headed into Centre-ville for something to eat, good selection of restaurants.
- Cynthia (10/5): Not what I Thought - We arrived late and the staff was spectacular. They were very welcoming, ensured we were well settled and offered several restaurants for dinner. Parking was a bit tight be available, and if you need a shower you will need to settle for a bath.
- trevor (10/5): Great place to stat - Easy to find. Excellent wi-Fi and free on site parking.
Lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely recommend and look forward to a longer stay next time. Thank you.
