Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was nice but needs a lot of upgrades , tooth picks and hair on bathroom sink along with other things but we enjoyed ourselves , great view and the lady at the front desk was very nice
- Angela (6/5): - Housekeeping did not come until the 3rd day of our stay and that was only after I called requesting fresh towels and the trash to be emptied.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusted - When we got to The Palace to check in, we found out the actual owner of the room that was booked for us was actually across the street at the Wave Runner hotel. The Palace had nothing to do with the room booked through hotels.com. The person at the front desk of the Wave Runner was rude and didn't seem to care much about any kind of customer service. The room itself was not as described. It was dirty and 3 days into our stay we saw roaches. When we asked for clean sheets, because housekeeping never came to clean, we were questioned as to why we needed clean sheets. This stay was very disappointing to say the least. To book a room at the actual Palace hotel, do not go through hotels.com.
- Jamel (2/5): Did you bring them with you? - REFUND ME please! The room i got was not the room i booked; when asking if i could switch rooms i was no, and to make it work?! When putting up groceries in the cabinets roaches appear. We even had to shakedown our bags to ensure we wouldn’t take any back home with us. When telling the front desk agent he said: did they come with you?!
He then stated that it’s not his problem as he doesn’t own the room. It was the anniversary of my grandmothers passing and this only made it worse.
- Eric (6/5): - Rather decent play to stay, kitchen and bathrooms could be updated. Hallway smelt of smoke even though it was non smoking. Overall decent stay for a last minute vacation.
- Juanita (10/5): Thumbs up - Stay was great. Nice ocean front view, definitely would stay there again
- Suat (6/5): - Property was not clean shower room mildew needs updating sofa was so dirty and old etc
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don’t book with these people!!!!!!! - Horrible room and customer service
- DORA (6/5): - i like its in the middle of everything. but the room I was in 1606 needs up grade. the sofa nasty broke down. pots and pans need replaced. and need silverware.
- Pamela (2/5): - Horrible customer service. Will not rent through myrtle beach rentals again. Out dated, rooms nothing like you see on the website. They need to take a class on customer service
- Carolyn (4/5): - The room wasn't ask advertised, need to be cleaned and updated
- Diane (8/5): Out of date - The room needed an update and a new mattress. The inside of the microwave was dirty. Friendly staff.
- brad (8/5): the palace was great. - our reservation was for a hotel across the street from the Palace. Once we saw what the hotel we canceled our reservations and went back across the street and got a room at the Palace. the name of the hotel was WAVE RUNNER. It had nothing to do with the Palace and had to pay full price for the room. The WAVE RUNNER was a dump. That is why we went back to the palace and got a great room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Palace is an older property. It is well maintained with friendly staff and situated on the beachfront. Good value for the time of year that we stayed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): No air and they didn't care!! - Sence we booked with Expedia we couldn't go to front desk we had to go across street to get towels or anything we also didn't get the room requested that they said I was getting. help when we had no air conditioning witch was for 2 days day 2 we left they said they would give us are money back but they made us pay for the 2 days of hell!! They did refund money for the 2 nights and 3 days we had left ha what a joke this place was I will book right through hotel from now on so I know what I'm getting!!
- Carol (4/5): - Nice thing was it was on the beach and the view was nice . Bathroom sink toilet shower dirty mildew and bathroom fan extremely loud . Patio needed paint carpets were dirty bedroom blind broken what not open or close easily or pull up .stove old cupboard needed to be resurfaced and painted. Fridge refrigerator door broken. Bed was uncomfortable and had a stain on the side of the sheet .
- Aric (2/5): I would not stay here again. - would not stay again. Room was dirty. Housekeeping did not come even when requested. Ran out of bath towels. Rude front desk. Room was very cramped and outdated.
- A. (2/5): Just ok - The rooms need a lot of repairs, in the bathroom and ac\heat unit both dripped badly and mold\mildew, along with new or cleaned couch. If I go back I will rent directly from the Palace.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Memorial Day experience - We didnt realize that it was "biker weekend", since it was Memorial day weekend and the unofficial kick off of summer! The street in front of the hotel was barricaded and controlled by police both day and night during our entire stay! Drinking in the street, the constant noise of motorcycles, and the fact that the "fun park" didn't open until mid-afternoon did not stop us from having a good time, however!
- Monique (6/5): - The hotel needs some major updates and the room smells like mildew. We even had a couple of roaches in my room and I thought that that was very unacceptable. The ocean view was perfect
- Verified traveler (2/5): - we did not stay in this hotel, it was not fit for any human yo stay in. Expedia should be ashamed of advertising the place on their website. i will never use Expedia again if i do not get a response from them an a refund!
- Ashley (10/5): - My stay was amazing had a great view, the people was nice
- j (4/5): - Hotel did not receive my reservation. Staff was hard to deal with. I had to call customer service to get things straightened out. Room I eventually got had holes in the wall and carpet was torn in spots. Very bad experience.
- john (6/5): Very good location 25 feet from beach - 3hottubs steam room, sauna room and pool indoor entrance to outside private water heater for apt and stove, fridge, free wifi very strong on lower floors.
- Babetta (6/5): It was ok - Our stay was ok, however the room always felt damp, even cereal boxes that we bought at the store felt damp in a few hours. Beautiful view of the ocean, very nice location. Was told it was a 2 bathroom, but we only had one, and no hairdryer was provided that was on the list of things provided. Clean towels were brought by daily and all the staff were extremely nice
- Christal (6/5): - We got to the motel unloaded all the luggage we had and started to settle in the chair had spots all over, no cable in the bedrooms, holes in cabinet under the sink. Bathrooms weren't cleaned as I would liked for them to be, being that I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old. The overall stay was ok. But they need to do some remodeling or renovations to the motel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice get away! - Had a great stay till checkout when I handed in my key I was charged $35 late fee. Fine print says to hand in key by 10am and checkout at 11. The man at the desk was rude and yelled at me. I was going to book here again until that experience.
- Mark (6/5): Good. location. OK place to stay - The palace was ok. Musty smell in room. Some of the furnishings are cheap. It was right on the beach. Pool and jacuzzi s were decent. VERY small indoor pool. A little far south to walk to the better shopping areas, but if you're just there for the beach you won't mind. Nice sized parking garage too. We're happy with stay since we booked last minute and had a decent rate compared to some of the other locations.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Look elsewhere - While the hotel was not rated as terrible, it was totally disappointing. The list of disappointments and problems is a long one, but worth sharing so others avoid making the same mistake. Hopefully since this list of problems was given to the front desk clerk at Wave Rider, some things will be fixed/improved upon.
1) Apparent that a thorough cleaning had not been done in a LONG time, shower/tub especially.
2) Hard to open the front door; a struggle.
3) Dirty dishes, pots/pans, utensils.
4) Hotel elevators, and room stunk
5) All glass (windows, table tops, mirrors) were dirty.
6) First day, constant banging and drilling - all day long; this went on most of the 4 days.
7) Toilet loose and banged against the wall.
8) Room phone did not work and was very dirty.
9) Only 1 of 3 remote controls for the TVs worked.
10) Netflix was rarely available.
11) 3 of 3 VCRs did not work
12) Hotel desk clerk never available when I went to the office; busy on phone with dissatisfied customers.
13) No management was available either when I inquired.
14) Elevators take forever and are dirty
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Très bel emplacement mais l'hôtel et son personnel son très peu de qualité ! Chambre malpropre et personnel irrespectueux et peu enclin à nos aider
- Verified traveler (6/5): Perfect view .. Rude staff. - The hotel itself was nice. But because we booked through Expedia the hotel staff was very rude to us. They was hateful and rude. The guy across the street on the other hand was very professional and nice to us and apologized several times for the hotel staff. I will never stay there again due to this.
- Verified traveler (2/5): ........ - It was a bad experience all around. The only nice thing was close to the beach. It's not what's pictured online. It's outdated and dirty
- Verified traveler (8/5): good stay - Great location, nice room, pretty clean, right on the beach, friendly staff, only complaint is 30 minute wait for elevator and the toilet in our room was loose when you get up it would slam into the wall like a bomb would stay there again tho
- Tremayne (2/5): Old, dirty, and outdated - The room we stayed in was old, dirty, and outdated. The floors and carpet were both dirty. Carpet stained with trash under the bed and pull out sofa. Room service exchanged towels each day but did not clean the room the entire week. We rented this through rooms from MB. With that, we actually had to check in and out of the hotel across the street from the hotel and not the hotel itself. We paid close to 1400 for 5 nights for a 2 bed room suite. Oh, forgot to mention, one TV in one of the rooms did not work and the other one was a 13 inch room. Only 3 elevators for he hotel so there is always a wait at the elevator
- Bently (6/5): - It was nice except the bed was very hard which made in uncomfortable to sleep
- cdaddy (8/5): better than expected - better than expected especially for the price
- Robert (4/5): Stay away from this listing from Hotels.com - If it wasn't for being on the beach this trip would have been ruined. There was little to no communication that the room we were staying in was not controlled\owned by the hotel it was in. From other rooms we saw in passing the actual hotel's room looked great (read as the actual pictures you see for this hotel listing), but the room we got was not up to par. It was controlled by a separate hotel across the street, so any questions, concerns, and problems required a walk across the street. The bed was so sunken in that you could see it the second you walked into the room. The shower floor broke and my foot went through it while trying to get a shower. It was obvious that it had been fixed before and felt very fragile under my feet. I am sure the hotel itself is great, but the room controlled by the separate hotel was horrible. All negative comments made here are about the hotels_com listing for the hotel, not the actual hotel. the booking website had the information about the second hotel you check in at in the super small print at the very bottom, which wasn't even seen on the original listing. the whole ordeal almost ruined our trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel on the beach - My Husband and I wanted to go on a weekend getaway. We chose this hotel and despite the reviews, we booked it. I could not have been more pleased with this room and hotel. I definitely would book again,
- John (4/5): - They advertised heated pools, but none were heated. They said free breakfast, but certain member. There was a hot tub on the floor for all people to share, but it leaked into our room the next day and had blowers in front our door during our stay. The beds were too small.
- Summer (8/5): Making the best of it!! :) - Our stay was wonderful, it's basically what you make of it! Every room is different. Our room specifically was out of date and not the finest but I knew that walking in. If you are staying for more than 2-3 nights I suggest you bring stuff to prepare you for cooking (pans/knives) because everything is completely out of date and beat up. The location is prefect, I literally coluld hear the waves crashing all night, absouletly wonderful! I would stay here again but for longer and I would ensure I bring some essential items to make things easier on myself. I really enjoyed the loacation and having a kitchen; eating out everyday gets pricey so to us this was worth our money. We didn't want to leave regardless how old everything was. The place was clean and houskeeping came by daily; just old. Elevators weren't that bad for us but it is off season.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice but needs more renovation - The hotel was nice just needs more renovation. Rooms needs to be upgraded and not patched up. Didn't like the fact that the indoor pool was across the street and the resort only had a small sauna in the inside. The stay was nice otherwise.
