It's about 20 minute walk down steep hill to get to town, so factor that in. Room was warm in late Sept, even with windows open, so wish room had a fan. A mini-fridge would have been a great addition.

- David (6/5): Charming setting. Nice surroundings but … - Setting and hotel was nice and had character and charm and staff were friendly. However, the rooms were not sound proof by any means and you could hear the people above using the toilet and ever footstep of others on the creaky floorboards and even conversations of other guests in rooms above or below. The gym was terrible, a tiny room which no more than two people could ideally be in at one time and very limited equipment or space to do a good workout. Very disappointing. It also needed a good clean. The gardens and woodland surrounding the property were beautiful and the view was spectacular. The food was nice but expensive.

There is no fridge or phone in the room. Overcooked chicken in the restaurant-inedible but no reduction made on the bill. Most of the staff were delightful.

I also think you should have concrete paths not pebbles at it is very hard to drag suitcases through pebbles. The dinner/breakfast at castle was lovely. Olives bar was great.

Shower room downstairs light only stays on for a couple of minutes, not good when you are showering in the night as you can’t turn it back on as it’s a on a sensor, so having to get out of the shower and move around in the dark is not good.

- Vivien (10/5): Wonderful room, excellent views, lovely pool - We had a lovely double aspect view of the sea and St Ives from our spacious hotel room with queen bed, the outdoor swimming pool was very clean. The grounds with flowers and trees were well tended and extensive. Plenty of fruit and cereals if you did not want a fried breakfast, but only sliced bread or small croissants, one type of mild cheese or ham. Also no fridge or water in the room.

- Angela (6/5): - Booked a family room and was initially put in a very small room with rickety bunk bed for 11 and 3 year old. Bed for adults was in poor condition with springs sticking out. Cara on reception was fantastic and managed to sort us a bigger family room which didn’t have these problems. Seemed to be a real lack of parity between the family rooms despite it being the same price - as there were even bigger rooms than the one we ended up in. There’s lots for the kids to do. We enjoyed breakfast and the food we had in Olives and Godrevy restaurant but a lot of the facilities are old and a little tired. Especially the rooms and indoor and outdoor pools. This hotel has the potential to be absolutely amazing. Location wise it was perfect.

- Roxana (2/5): - I would strongly advise people to check their reviews before staying here , we were given a room in the main hotel , from the start we had issue with the window not opening , the lady from the reception sent someone and he managed to open it, it was sitting on one hinge barely opening and looking unsafe , the toilet was disgusting, fixtures with mould, one tap broken , no water pressure , the fan extractor wouldn’t work , the door doesn’t have a lock so anyone can come in and out as they please , uncomfortable beds, I had the worst night sleep, overall I would never come here and again or recommend it to anyone . The lady from the reception dismissed me from the first day , on the check out someone else asked us how the stay was and we have told him and she came in the middle of the conversation saying that there is nothing wrong with the room , I have pictures of everything and they still dismissed me, they lack customer service skills

Helping change room for me because the room was too warm in the summer (no air condition). The lodge I stayed is lovely, the sea view is stunning. The dinner is super nice, banana pudding is the best, steak is really good, staffs are lovely. Unfortunately the housekeeping got inside the lodge I stayed at 8:00 am, left her cleaning bag in front of our door when she found out I was inside, then she hanging around the lodge waiting for us to leave until 11:00 check out time. I don't understand why?

The location is beautiful and walkable to town; the building and grounds are very well maintained; the staff is friendly and professional. The odd misses: breakfast.... The coffee is undrinkable and the espresso bar opens at 10 (?!?!), the bread and sausages are really terrible, there is no variation at all day to day (note that much of the rest of breakfast was ok or good); the self catering cottage we stayed in had a microwave and oven in the "kitchennette" but no cooktop (?!). Would still heartily recommend.

Our bathroom was quite shabby (grouting around shower basin etc) and the Venetian blind was very old and was hanging at a very uneven angle. The bedroom had very little storage space (no drawers apart from the tiny bedside ones) and the tv remote on/off button didn’t work. It had to be operated via the buttons on the side of the tv. I guess the hotel is just in need of a bit of TLC.

- David (8/5): - Let me just say, the place is beautiful and the staff clearly work hard to maintain it. The comments below indicate areas I feel fell short of my expectations for such a place. 1. I just felt the hotel didn’t care about how we were getting on. In the 6 nights we stayed in one of the hotel apartments not once did anyone ask if we needed fresh towels or even if we had any problems. 2. I call this place 10m Posh I.e. outside of 10m it looks great. Within 10m you see the cut corners like cheap apartment furniture, really bad bread for breakfast and having to actually pay £1 for a towel in the indoor pool. 3. The breakfast was nice but not worth the £18 per adult. It just isn’t. Having to book a time for breakfast is also mad, especially for a buffet breakfast I’ve already paid for. 4. The tennis courts are locked all day unless we get a key, and then it’s limited to 7pm. Why? It’s day light to 10pm these days. 5. I suspect the hotel is understaffed and the grounds are taking an uneven number of staff to maintain them at the expense of a quality hotel experience. 6. The hotel bar is shockingly expensive. Ok the views are nice, but £7.50 for a cider? 7. Family evening catering is bad. Very weird menu choices with all sorts of Korean stuff on the menu. A lot of families were staying and I’m fairly sure if they catered for those families in the evening they’d do a lot better. It’s like someone had a bright idea for a menu without actually asking what people like. Thats it!

- Stephen (8/5): - The location is both great and awkward at the same time. Great because it is close enough to walk to town without needing to use the car, but awkward for those of us who can't cope so well with the hill climb back to the hotel. It's fine for young/fit/healthy! There are two or three bus numbers which do go up the hill past the hotel entrance, just a couple of stops from the town, which is a lot cheaper than the taxi option. For us, the dining was too 'haute cuisine' for our taste so we went into town to eat, but that's personal taste. However, the breakfast was great (buffet, full English plus many other things). There was no proper lounge to relax in during the evening, but there were sofas and chairs in some other places. The lift only serves the main hotel building, so expect only stairs in the Courtyard rooms, and external apartments. Our particular en-suite had a nasty smell on arrival which we reported. Our short stay unfortunately meant there was no time to use the leisure facilities so can't comment on those. All the staff were pleasant, and the grounds were nice to walk around. Our stay was at the end of April 2025, and parking in town during the mornings was just achievable, but I guess would be almost impossible during high season.

Nice buildings with windows facing the sea! A separate room for two children and a little stair gate for baby protection. The staff looks elegant yet warm-hearted, like royal British service. - Louella (8/5): - It was near the beach and accessible. The breakfast was varied and delicious. The rooms were spacious however we could hear all the noise from the neighbours as well as from above. The hot water from the shower took a very long time and there was no phone inside the room to call. I am aware that we live in the UK so it was okay but if you are a foreigner having to use your own phone may be a challenge and as it was raining- going to the reception across the courtyard is an inconvenience. We didn’t need to but just a very small comment. We were not able to use most of the facilities but would highly recommend and would not think twice to book again and enjoy the facilities. The staff were super friendly and helpful and always with a smile.

- Joshua (6/5): Spend big or stay home - This is reviewing the cheapest rooms of the resort. Price was good for time of year and location is 5-10min walk to the harbour (if don’t mind hills) so not too far. The room was ok with the basics. Noise if what you’d expect for age of building but wasn’t the worst. Main issue I had was the bed. The mattress felt cheap and hard which made it an uncomfortable nights sleep. Is a shame as rest of the place looked good if with some signs of wear in places. If you can afford the suites or lodges they seem to of been fairly recent and where they spent the money on.

Staying in a castle room, in a hotel apartment and this time in a separate one bedroom apartment in a wooden barn type block. It’s a great walk into town through the estate. Check in was a little inconsistent and we weren’t offered a map - the people beside us were. We also weren’t asked if we wanted to add breakfast or told about bar and restaurant opening hours etc, missed opportunities. The apartment was clean - but tired. Great shower pressure but the shower heads could do with taking down and soaking. Plenty of tea and milk in the room which was also great.

The only criticism is that the duvet cover did not smell nice. It smelt like dog was sleeping there or dirty socks. I think it was to do with the way the linen was dried and stored but not sure. - Deborah (8/5): Great for a stay near St Ives. - Lovely location, friendly staff. Comfortable beds and bedding, large rooms, clean. Good value for money. Good breakfast. Burger good, duck ok could have had rice with it.
- Guy (10/5): - Upgraded room FOC with sea view and excellent food
- Bradley (8/5): - Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, clean room. Only issue was room was far too warm for windows that only open slightly.
