CHANTAL (8/5): - Perfect location for a stopover when driving along the east coast of Vancouver Island. Walking distance to the centre and the sea. Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. All you need is in the room. I would use the facilities again and recommend them to friends. A little noisy but not a huge issue.

Charlotte (8/5): Nice budget stay in Nanaimo - The lady at reception was so lovely and helpful - we arrived slightly early and she was very happy to help us find a room that was ready. The room itself had a nice view, was warm and comfortable. We appreciated that it felt a lot more modern than other budget motels we had recently visited on the island. The location is okay but not the best in terms of safety. The room was fairly clean but we found 2 half eaten snacks of some kind under the bed. And one side of the mattress had collapsed so my partner was rolling out of bed all night - seems like the springs may have been damaged somehow?
mike (9/5): Bring your own stir stick. - Im not sure if it's under new management but I have stayed here a few times and this time seemed different, in a good way. They have cleaned up the exterior and the room seemed nicer than I remembered. There were no stir sticks for the coffee.

It made for a private, and comfortable stay. The staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. The bathroom needed some tlc as the fixtures were old and in need of replacing. But I believe they are in the process of renovating. But overall was good value and would stay again.

There was no real lock on the door except for the safety hatch at the top which left me a bit uneasy. The parking lot was a bit confusing and not the easiest to find the office, but that wasn’t a big deal.

Edward (9/5): 24-hour MacDonalds accross the road. 3 block walk to casino and 4 for ferry to Gabriola Island. - Room was clean as well as bathroom. 2 Beds were choices for 1 person. Comfortable and clean. Lots of parking and yes, a restaurant on property. Private and quiet neighbors that night. Toiletries and clean towels are so nice to find after a road trip. Keep up the good work. Being a critical traveler the only thing I questioned was a $200 deposit for a short stay for 1 person. Otherwise, I could find no faults with this Highway 1 Motel. If your room is on second floor there is no elevator. I will book again when I have to stay overnight in Nanaimo.

The room needs some repairs and upgrades, including a new fridge. The breakfast scrambled eggs and hash browns were cold when they arrived at my table.
