Guest Reviews
- Andrew (7/5): Was overpriced for basic room. - Location was good. When I called maintenance their response was prompt.
TV worked ok. Locks on doors were good. Heat was good. Beds were clean and made.
Room and towels were clean. Hot water was good. Lack of staff presence. Light switches that didn't work. Keys failed to work on 3rd day. Grounds should have been plowed better. Lack of power outlets in room. Shower head height for a midget.
- Trisha (9/5): - Very nice room! Looked brand new. Building is looking amazing. The remodel is looking so great! Will for sure stay again! The spa tub needs a little TLC
- Daniels (8/5): Just a get away - The rooms were clean and warm. Beds were very comfy. It was a great location close to town but not in town. Even though the place was under renovations it met our needs for a one night stay. Originally we had rented 2 rooms with a king bed and a jacuzzi tub in each, but received a call the next day that they didn't have any rooms like that, so they gave us 2 rooms with 2 queen beds but even though we were disappointed that they didn't have the jacuzzi rooms we adapted. Another disappointment was no hot tub and the pool wasn't able to be used.
- Brian (10/5): -
- Naomi (10/5): -
- Michael (1/5): Disappointing - Bugs, warm air in ac, no internet , hole in bathroom ceiling Everything
- Donna (10/5): -
- Becky (2/5): - Very disappointed in the management of the property. Booked the property for the pool and was informed when checking in that the pool was working. Staid one night and found another property for the 2nd night. Management chose not to respond to my email and refused to give a refund for the 2nd night when contacted by Expedia.
- Terry (8/5): - GOOD
- MikeMary (8/5): - Friendly front staff- clean room and bed comfie. Facility is very very dated. Pool "out of service" though appeared to be up and running. No direct phone line to hotel.
- Cheryl (9/5): -
- Carrie (6/5): -
- Gretchen (8/5): - Older hotel/motel but clean & comfortable beds & room.
- Jeff (6/5): - Room was clean, WiFi didn’t work.
- Ronald (8/5): - Location
Friendly staff Small bathroom
- Lori (2/5): - Questionable at best
- Yvonne (4/5): - Outside our door was either dog or somekind of animal's poop. The outside door also had no bottom weather stripping thus several spiders inside. The floors inside were some kind of vinyl and were gritty to walk on. Bed matress was comfy but sqeaked when rolling over. No sugar or creamer in the container. This is the first time I've ever wrote a bad review.
- Kimberley (2/5): - This place was absolutely disgusting! The pictures they have online do not look anything like the rooms. Everything in the room was damp. White sheets were yellow. Holes in the wall from old tv mounts. Asked for a refund and they said no. Dropped our keys in the drop box and found a new hotel.
- Andrew (6/5): - Strong smell of cigarettes in our room. We’ve stayed here before with no issues. We were pretty sure it was coming from tenants smoking right outside our AC unit, as well as above us in the balcony. Outside of the smell, we had a good stay.
- Paul (4/5): Still in the 70's. Not worth the money. - Clean room be needs updating. Internet would not work and no cell signal inside due to metal in the building leaving us to stand in the parking lot to talk on the phone or get on the internet. Everything is old and run down from the sauna to the pool. Tv has spectrum but so slow to change channels we gave up on it. Parking lot floods when it rains. Receptionist is very nice.
- Gregory (10/5): Clean rooms, recently renovated - Great value, conveniently located
- Tammy (10/5): - It was super clean and thr bed is bed so conf
- Lu (6/5): - Pro: quiet hotel
Con: heat unit cover is off, floor tile broken, facial towel stained
- Paul (10/5): - It was exactly what we needed as we were meandering through!!
- Aaron (6/5): -
- Justin (6/5): - For the price, this place simply cannot be beat. My only real gripe is that when the listing says “free WiFi”, that didn’t mean the WiFi would work. And when I called to ask staff about it all I got was the assumption that since there was so many people there wouldn’t be internet. No offer to discount or refund. No offer to help with an explanation beyond that.
But again, and I cannot say this enough, for the money this place was awesome. Ice cold AC, quick drive to town, pool, sauna and easy parking. I do still highly recommend, just come prepared.
- Kenneth (2/5): Definitely needs a remodel. - Start with positive- beds were very comfy. The big fluffy buffalo plaid flannel comforters are awesome.
Negatives- when we walked in the smoke detector was beeping. We fixed it by replacing battery. The light in the bathroom was out. They gave us another light bulb which also happened to be dead. We took the CFL bulb (seriously, haven’t seen those in a decade) from a lamp and used it in the bathroom. Then the kicker- went to take a shower. Water was cloudy and began to fill the tub. Water wouldn’t drain. We gave up and left early so we could shower.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean but a little musty - Very clean, strong musty smell, windows don’t open, new air conditioning unit.
- Rodney (2/5): - The room was dirty, I couldn’t use their towels because they looked old and faded. The sheets and bedspread were faded and old. The whole place needs a huge renovation. It’s run down and the couple running the place cannot possibly keep up with everything that needs to be done.
- Lois (8/5): - Out of the main stream.
- Kati (10/5): - It was very home like. Only bad thing I have to say is the pool wasn’t open when we went. Other then that 10/10 would go again
- Thomas (1/5): We walk in to the room to take shower, no water in sink or shower. - We were not able to stay at the property, NO WATER IN THE ROOM.
Refund denied! No Water!
- Brandy (1/5): Don’t do it if you want a pool and hot tub! - The location was fine! The pool was ice cold and there was no hot tub as advertised on website.
- Jon (8/5): - Roos were clean and comfortable
- Jim (6/5): - Looks like they just purchased the place and are remodeling the rooms
- Julie (4/5): - The carpet was filthy. Bathroom was not clean, and water backed up above ankles while showering. Room was musty smelling. The beds were comfortable.
- JERRY (8/5): Great place - Great place to visit
- Kolt (8/5): - The young lady nicollette was a wonderful person
- Chris (10/5): - Great stay with a great staff. Would definitely return.
- Cindy L. (8/5): - This property is under new management. The siding & roof is brand new. They are working on the rest. A lot of work to do yet but our room was clean, beds were comfortable. All we needed for tbe night.
- Sherryl (2/5): - The balcony was full of leaves, stick and dirt
- Rob (2/5): Gross - No pool, no notice of not having a pool. Parking lot was a lake of water from draining the pool with garbage floating all around. I would never make my wife stay at a place in that condition. We didn't check in, we didn't stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointed, but aptly rustic? - The people were nice and seemed to want to try to help, but the accommodations are a bit misleading/oversold. I didn't get the room I had reserved (I confirmed a single queen room, and was given a king with an additional full/double. Not so much bad as confusing. Certain switches didn't tuen on any lights, while lamps with multiple bulbs only had one functioing bulb light up (a "two-headed" side table lamp. Two heads with a bulb in each, but only one lit up when the switch was turned. To say they have Wi-Fi/internet access is a pretty gracious statement. I didn't in my room. If I walked across the parking lot, I began to pick up SOME signal, but current work or use medias as it stood. A bit antiquated, but that is part of the mystique of a more rustic lodge than a contemporary hotel. Lastly, I was provided lotion, shampoo and conditioner in my room, but no soap (neither for hand washing in a sink, nor for the shower). The office is only open from 3pm until 9pm daily, so at 9:30am, I couldn't speak to anyone. They do have a phone number to call, and I left a message. Someone did come to offer soap at 4:00pm, but I had already gone into town to purchase some by then. The staff was very apologetic and seemed genuinely sorry, but for $20 more a night, you could stay in a Best Western or Holiday Inn and been happier. I wanted to try out a local, non-chain stay.
- Alaina (10/5): - Comfy bed, nice staff, good ambience.
- Laura (4/5): - The staff was very nice. But…..the place is very dated. The room was big and the beds were comfortable and clean. They had NO internet connection whatsoever, television’s had no internet or cable working. So no television. Manger says that the internet company was coming out next week sometime. They weren’t sure. They advertised that they had breakfast. Well that was a package of instant oatmeal. But no bowls or spoons to eat it with. The vending machines were not filled. Management says the guy did come out yet. The pool the water was somewhat clean. The bottom had a thin layer of sand in it. This hotel is about a mile from town no place within walking distance for coffee or food. As for sitting on the balcony of our room was unsafe. Railing were about to come off. I feel soooo over charged for what was advertised and what we got.
- Mary Lou (10/5): - Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Room was very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the whirlpool tub in the room did not work. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant stay.
- TAMARA (6/5): - Very comfortable beds. Very quiet and restful stay. Would stay again
- Amanda (6/5): - Check in was smooth, that was the last time we had any service, no daily or second day or third day or 4th day room service, no clean towels any day same towels for the duration of our stay 4 nights. For the rate charged per night very expensive. No rubbish service. It was like covid all over again
- Daniel L (4/5): - This property is under renovation. With that being said the king size was new and very comfortable however the comforter was also new but it was very heavy and very warm for use on a 80 degree day in the middle of July,a lighter weight comforter would have been more appropriate for the summer. It was freshly painted with new windows and flooring. Another hiccup was that the entry key would not work and the unit had to be reprogrammed to get the key to work.
The desk person was very respectful and apologized for the inconveniences.
The bathroom was clean but very small with a pocket door. Towels were nice and plush but the soap and other toiletries were very little. The shower curtain was in very bad shape and was stained and perhaps not very clean but it could also been stains that did not come clean with laundering.
We did not use the pool or sauna so I therefore I cannot comment on that.
- James (8/5): - Looks like they were remodeling hotel> paint, plastering, new windows. Bathroom light didn't work, sink plugged
- BOB (4/5): - Two lighbulbs were out in our room, with one of the lights broken. Lighting is poor in the room to begin with. Bed, pillows and towels all were nice. We also had problems with the TV which we shared the concern and state if we can’t get it working we wanted a different room. We were told the hotel was booked and not an apology or adjustment in our costs. The first night could only get one channel. Don’t think I would stay there again as the hallways just didn’t look fresh.
- Debra (6/5): - Bed was comfortable. Room was dusty. No clock in the room. Pool didn't look clean.
- Patrick (7/5): -
- Steven Mark (8/5): - Owners seem positive, eager to please, trying to succeed. 2 burned out lights. Some general maintenance needs. The facility is a little tired and in need of updating, but clean. The balcony needed cleaning up from tree debris.
- Tamara (4/5): - This property is a motel not an Inn. It is not well kept. The door had a gap at the bottom that let in bugs and anything else that wants to come in. The bathtub was disgusting. The air conditioning is a window model that could not keep up with the humidity. Overall, I would not recommend a stay here.
- Cynthia (8/5): - Unhappy with very gross dirty floor!!
- thomas (10/5): - We found it to be an exceptional value. Comfortable beds, nice staff. Quiet renovated room. We’d definitely stay there again.
- Hafner (5/5): Passable -
- PJ (10/5): - Was easy to get to. They called to make sure I was still on my way and were there when I showed up to get me to the room. Nice place near the area I was fishing so made for a good spot to stay. Would stay there again!
- Didier (5/5): It was a one night stay... - Kind and friendly staff Other loud guests, didn't feel safe, and run down facility. Most of the in room lights didn't work and the faucet would not shut off completely. Did not feel as though pictures on the website gave an accurate depiction of the property.
- Kusba (10/5): Everything was comfortable (room, mini fridge, microwave, and the beds) - Went to Hayward with to go see Larry the Cable Guy at Sevenwinds Casino (wasn’t even a 10 min drive) when we arrived the owner checked us in and he was extremely nice and friendly. The biggest bonus was I was able to bring my dog for an extra small fee! That we couldn’t stay longer and use the backyard as there were hammocks, fireplaces, grills, and maybe more.
- Bill (6/5): - No hair dryer when i asked was told some rooms do and some dont. Toilet needed to be cleaned. One of our room keys kept wouldnt work had to keep having it reloaded. Pool needed cleaning.
- Jerry (6/5): - Property was very old and in poor upkeep. The bathroom and sink area, fixtures, etc. were rust stained, in poor working order or not working at all. The bed was very comfortable but the sheets were very old and thin. We would not stay at this facility again.
- Andrea (10/5): - Room was very clean and nicely renovated!
- Chris (10/5): - Very quiet and well maintained.
- Laurie (4/5): - The room was very old and musty. The water was rusty. It tasted and smelled terrible. Room appeared clean. Front desk people were always gone and when we called the phone number given us for assisrance, we always got voicemail. One of the doors on our 4 wheeler was stolen overnight, poor security there. We would never stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): In town for a high school graduation - Here is my no-nonsense appraisal of our stay:
Based on what I saw and what I heard from some locals, the hotel changed ownership fairly recently. The previous owner, from the sounds of it, let the place go and the new owners are doing extensive renovations. We got the large 6 person room. It was spacious enough for my family to stay. Bathroom, microwave, and TV set were dated, but functional; it may be they haven't done renovations in that room yet. Very quiet and I found the beds to be ridiculously comfortable. Like, far and away the best hotel bed I have ever experienced.
My daughter and I also spent time in the pool area. The pool wasn't immediately ready upon our arrival as it was undergoing cleaning, but hotel staff removed the cleaning equipment right away when they realized we wanted to use the pool. Pool area appeared to be about midway through its renovation process: the floor was obviously recently redone and repainted, but the bathrooms and sauna appeared to be dated and could probably use a refresh. Also, hotel furnishes pool toys, a welcome surprise.
Other amenities on the grounds gave the appearance of a north woods getaway location: gas grill out back that appeared available for guest use (did not use myself), firepit, lawn furniture, hammocks.
Overall, a decent hotel.
- Bradley (8/5): - This facility is under construction and in disarray, probably contributing to the uncleanliness of the hallways and walkways
- Randy (10/5): - Great local spot, easy check-in. Super friendly staff, would stay again!
- Sam (7/5): Good - the beds, and bedding are Very nice. I couldn't find any restaurant or tourist info in my room. Phone numbers, menus, local pizza joints that deliver?
- Andrea (2/5): Buyer beware. Do NOT stay here. - Dreadful. This photo must be of a nearby property that the owner also has. Wifi works in the office, in the hotel room, it does not. Renovated haphazardly. Run very badly.
- Monte (10/5): - The desk lady was really nice and made me feel better when i lost my key and she replaced it with a smile and politeness. The only thing i didnt like was having to drive to drive around the building to get to office.
- Paige (5/5): Laughable Memories in a Rustic Setting - It was a rustic vibe.... pool was nice for the kids, new owners are super nice, None that's the soon to be new owners fault , but several things happened, key cards didn't work a few times, power went out when we plugged in a tablet by the beds while the microwave was going across the room, couldn't find a power switch. But this happened 4 times then we gave up in the microwave being used. It does need a lot of renovations but they are in the process of fixing property up. We got locked out of the room at 1030pm from kids swimming & the poor owners were asleep when we called for about 30 minutes. We bought an air mattress earlier, for an extra bed but by the time we opened & filled i up to realize it was defective, walmart was closed (1130 at night) Overall , I'd say don't expect a high end experience, plan for it to be more of a small town real rustic vibe, choose to take everything that may go wrong as laughable memories. Would we stay there again? Yea, I think would, but I'll make sure things work in the room first or before 9-10pm. Lol the price is decent overall.
- Tonya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terrie (6/5): - Looks like they're doing renovations. The room we were in was old and needs new carpet / flooring. Beds and bath area were very clean.
- Polly (8/5): - There was no wi-fi or cell service; possibly due to the construction (?).
- Cora (10/5): - Beautiful room. Very quiet stay.
- Matthew (10/5): - Super comfy beds!
- Chad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (8/5): Nice and quiet - Put all brand new everything.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Ajaypal (10/5): - Its nice place
- Elizabeth (8/5): Big quiet family room so we all slept - The room was nice and big. The place was quiet which we appreciated. We had to check in late and left early, therefore communication with front desk was simple. The hotel however is stuck in a time warp and brought back memories of our childhood in the 1990s.
- Michael (10/5): A beautiful rustic experience - Very clean facility, nicely remodeled, quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful, a malfunctioning TV remote was replaced within minutes. Very comfy mattress, clean room, huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub and immediate hot water. parking a few steps away, not in front of room. Many eateries within 1-2 miles.
Only downside: no breakfast but as mentioned many eateries for every taste within 1-2 miles
- LINDSEY (10/5): - Everything was clean and the rooms were updated. The bed was comfortable.
- Ashley (10/5): - It quite. Very homie and great priced. Family friendly
- james (10/5): - The beds were fabulous. Our families enjoyed their stay, the pool and the ability to relax. We will utilize your hotel the next time we visit Hayward. Thanks!
- Terry (2/5): - Room had no heat or air.
- Steven (5/5): Passable -
- James (8/5): Nice find - Great little hotel. Clean and comfortable beds and clean shower. What else do you news
- William (8/5): - Place was cold, hadd no heat. Otherwise it was a good place to stay.
- Teresa (7/5): Good - The room was roomy and clean.
The hotel was very quiet (day and night)
It was nice to have a balcony. A hot tub would have been nice to have
- Robert (8/5): - Property was dated and needed a "refresh'. Staff, however, was friendly.
- Donald or Jessica (6/5): - When we arrived at our hotel room, our air conditioner was running too cool our room, it was a warm fall day, but tends to get very chilly at night. We turned off our air conditioner, but we’re not able to turn on the heat as it is regulated through the office. It was freezing cold in our room for the entire night, unfortunately, this was not comfortable for sleeping and nobody in our party slept very well because of this.
- Susan (8/5): - Comfortable beds, clean rooms. They are working at restoring motel and it will be nice when done.
- Gary (8/5): - Clean room
- Richard (10/5): - Was a beautiful room with a big tub. Didn't give it 5 stars for grounds because it is being renovated and that was fine. Pool was excellent and it was close to town. Would definitely stay there again.
- Steven (8/5): - The registration clerk was friendly and helpful. Clean comfortable room at a reasonable price.
- Cecily (7/5): If it weren't for a very comfortable bed my rating would be very bad! - Location was very nice. On the outskirts of town; but still very close! Very disappointed that Continental Breakfast was promised, but Office Door was locked in the morning with a sign & phone # to call facing window. At Check- in; I needed to call that phone for Service and once in Office I saw little brown sack Bags of snacks; which I assume was a muffin, pc. of fruit & water. I would have taken them at Check-in had I known the Office would again be locked in the AM! Hotel Pool area and Room had a bad smell. Our window AC was extremely noisy and didn't produce much air circulation or cool air. Kept my Girlfriend awake at night.
- Claudine (7/5): Good - The room was nice, and the bed very comfy. The person who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. I asked her for directions to a specific location and she cheerfully printed a map with step by step instructions. I did not get her name, but she had beautiful red hair. She deserves whatever she is being paid and probably a raise! There was no breakfast or even ICE available before 8 AM. We travel with large drink cups with ice and water and we like to leave by 7 AM or so. I understand this property is under renovation on the outside, but it was quite run down and shabby looking, and not really what I had expected for the price. Thankfully the inside was much better.
