The manager was incredibly friendly and always willing to help with anything we needed. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a separate living area, comfortable beds, and an excellent shower. Housekeeping was outstanding: every day the room was cleaned, the towels and tea towels were replaced, and everything was left spotless. Highly recommended. None. Everything was perfect.

• Roshan (9/5): Excellent host in a lovely property by the sea. - We liked the owner the best. He was friendly and helpful. He gave us advise on many aspects aside from the comfort of his room. There was unprecedented rain and a cyclone during our stay. He advised us on the time and directions to leave the property which helped us to reach the airport safely and in time. The veranda outside the room had a great sea view, but we could hardly use it because of the rain. Nothing that we didn't lie except that the room was a bit short in area.

Modern bathroom, thick towels Lovely new cotton sheets but hate polyester blankets = uncomfortably warm, dont allow bodies to breath. Many motels use these as easily laundered, but how about airtex cotton blankets in summer? They're also easily laundered.

A bit of noise, due to it being on the main thoroughfare and next to the Tipsy Oyster Tapas Bar - but nothing earplugs didn't muffle. I had a couple of very.nice cocktails in the latter.

However it is clean and functional and they have done some modernisation. Location is perfect - beach is over the road and the shops 5 mins walk. The staff were so friendly - the best we had on our entire 3 week trip. Gave us beach towels and so considerate. We had a one room, which had 3 single beds and the master bed in the main area. It worked with a small kitchen that was functional enough to cook a basic meal. Highly recommend Nothing, what we expected

• GAYE (10/5): Location and quality of unit makes this a “must-stay” motel. - John is a wonderful host. He is accommodating and friendly. The facilities were excellent. My room, the one-bedroom suite, was at the back of the property, meaning some distance from the road, so it was very quiet; the view of the ocean was an added bonus. “Down town”, including great bars and restaurants are all within a 5 minute walk. A la Moana also has a BBQ area for guests’ use. The ferry terminal (for ferry over to Russell) is just a 4-minute walk away. The Treaty of Waitangi site is 5 minutes by car, or a pleasant 20-minute walk from the ferry pier.

• Richard (10/5): We had six days of absolute bliss at our unit the upstairs outdoor balcony was a real sun trap - Bedroom and lounge were spacious and with a view of the bay John the owner operator was very approachable and avoided looking straight into our windows while going about his daily work Although next to a main road and a busy bar Nxt Door Our room was always quiet and peaceful If I wanted to be picky I found there was limited space in the bathroom And we were very cautious about the step up into the shower

Das Appartement war gut ausgestattet und hatte alles, was man braucht sowie einen tollen Blick aufs Meer. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Wir hatten Ameisen im Zimmer, das war etwas lästig, war aber mit Vorsichtsmaßnahmen (alles essbare in den Kühlschrank) gut zu beheben.
