Richard (1/5): The Palace management need to upgrade the rooms and carry out maintenance. - The hotel is in a good location in Hannan Street, The Balcony Bar is a good place for a meal, but you need to book. We had a one-bedroom suite on the ground floor, which opened directly to the street. You could not draw the curtain because it was immediately outside a bus stop and people were always there. There was a door in the bedroom which opened to a grotty back lane, and a window but you could not open the curtain for the same reason as the front. only one fork, one soup spoon and one dessert spoon was provided for two people. No knives. The air-conditioner did not work. Broken towel hook in the bathroom meant only one towel could hang to dry. No second bedside reading lamp. Very dim lights. This "suite" did not compare to the description of the room when I booked.

Dreda (4/5): Very disappointed - The verandah restaurant was pleasant and the food and service good. The Irish bar food was good. However, the suite we had was very disappointing, rather shabby, worn out furniture and lacking in facilities (had to wash dishes in bathroom sink next to the toilet). No dishwashing soap or cloth, limited crockery ie 1 each soup and breakfast bowl,(despite being booked for 3 people and with sleeping for 5), limited plates and oddments of cutlery. The bathroom door was VERY difficult to shut, you had to slam it and then struggle to open it again and there were no hand towels provided. The front windows had been seriously splintered a few days prior to our arrival, (bricks or heavy objects thrown at them) and they had not been replaced so that we felt quite vulnerable and kept the very scant curtains drawn all of the three nights stay. This meant the rooms were dark and gloomy with only poor lighting available) When we raised these and a few other small issues with staff, they were unable to move us to another suite or rooms as the hotel was full and non of the issues re towels etc were addressed. We were offered a small refund but nothing else changed. Therefore, the overall experience was very disappointing (we had stayed here previously and had enjoyed the accommodation) and it is now very unlikely we would return or recommend the hotel to others. Lynette (10/5): The apartment was perfect for our stay, close to everything, very friendly staff - The location was perfect, close to where I needed to be. The staff were fantastic, especially Helene, she was so very helpful, this really made my family's stay so much easier. Ordered 2 x Caesar salads for dinner, was way too salty. Ordered 2 x grilled fish another night and the fish was over cooked. Bit of a shame

The rooms were beautiful clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend a balcony room to sit and watch the world go by. You have the choice of 2 restaurants in the hotel. We only went to one of them but food and service were great.

Tried to address issues with her. Her response, 'This is not a 5 star hotel.' Shower head needed replacing as water trickled out. Blind did not stay down, needed to use a pamphlet to keep it down. Everything from the carpet to the furniture was is poor condition.

Ann-Marie (4/5): Definitely won’t be back, but don’t think there concern is with travellers to the city. - There was very little to like about this property. Dinner in the upstairs restaurant on the night of arrival was very nice and the staff here were very friendly and helpful. Another regional mining town exploiting travellers with ridiculous prices for less than 3 star accommodation. Filthy entry and smelling like an old smokers lounge (this smell didn’t disappear throughout), the decor is so dated and in a bad state of disrepair. Reception could merely muster a greeting on arrival but was quick to take payment and move us along. Though clean, the room was dingy and dark. The air conditioning had not been turned on pending our arrival and the room was very hot. There was barely room to move in the bathroom and nowhere to hang towels for drying if there are more than 1 of you. This was the most uncomfortable room we’ve stayed in, in a very long time. The downstairs restaurant/cafe/bar has changed since our last stay here a number of years ago and no longer offers the great coffee and breakfast it once used to so we were caught unawares and had to find alternative options (it’s now an Irish bar that doesn’t open until 11am).
Andrea (8/5): Nice, relaxing and comfortable stay with a beautiful meal at the balcony restaurant. - It was the second time I stayed at this hotel. I like the location, the balcony bar/restaurant. The staff is very friendly. The room was basic, but very comfortable. The old chandeliers through out the hotel are very pretty. This hotel has a rich history in Kalgoorlie. This hotel is an old building and has not a lift which can be challenging when carrying luggage. Other than that, can’t think of any negative.

fraser (7/5): A comfortable enough stay but lacking in a few basic (milk, tea bags) - the location was okay, the room was okay, but the bed covers need to be made from natural fabric not man-made; the shower was okay but the water pressure was poor; not enough milk in fridge for my stay; no staff about to ask for assistance; dinner was superb but a tad expensive (lamb shanks); bar prices were a tad high too, but there was a good selection of beers. Breakfast isn't served; why not? windows need to be tinted to filter bright light; water pressure for the shower was poor; shower needs replacing; staff wasn't informed that I was still in my room; staff tried to gain entrance while I was in bed. No one informed staff I was still there; a Do Not Disturb sign was not provided

Kevin (10/5): Nice stay here on our road trip around Western Australia - Location was good as were the facilities though a little tired the stair carpet leading to the rooms was threadbare which we thought could lead to someone having an accident. Nothing
Justin (7/5): Good, if tiring. - Great Position, good food and drink. Room 12 is closeset to the gold Bar and Friday and saturday night is impossible to sleep until 3am in the morning.
Michael (3/5): - Not much. In need of a refurbishment. The front door of our suite opened onto the footpath but the door only had one fairly old lock. Not secondary latch. The rear door opened onto to an open laneway. We were not confident in the security in the area. .

Simon B (5/5): Never again - Restaurant upstairs was ok 👍 No daily room clean, Only 2 (very small) soap bars for two day stay, Luke warm shower water. Rooms need to be completely renovated. No breakfast facilities. Bar area smelly and dirty. Compared to other hotels in Kalgoorlie, poor value for money!!
Trevor (5/5): Won’t be back - Very run down condition. Worn carpets, leaking taps and lights that work occasionally reflect a lack of maintenance. Poor attitude of check in staff.

Mary (10/5): very pleasant, would recommend to friends. - Staff were warm and friendly, but not intrusive. the room was small, big enough for one person, but very clean and comfortable. central location made it easy to walk around town. No breakfast available.

Claire (1/5): Total waste of money, would not recommend. - Location good. Very little starting with the unfriendly welcome and lack of info on arrival. Bathroom very unclean, toilet not fixed to the floor. Air con not working but was fixed. All carpet threadbare, dangerous on staircase. $ 352 for a two night stay , not what was represented on booking.com.

Janet (8/5): It was a nice stay and great to eat at. - The restaurant was fantastic with delicious food on offer. The location was great. The room could have been better equipped/styled along with its heritage. The room was very basic. Slept 3 but only cups and glasses for 2. No other equipment.
Liz (10/5): A clean quiet stay - The room was clean and quiet. We enjoyed dinner at the Irish pub downstairs.
