Guest Reviews
- Emily (8/5): - Very helpful cleaning staff
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Location was good and the staff were nice
- Pamela (6/5): - I realise Lightning Ridge is a very remote outback town, however The room was very dusty which is not good for allergy sufferers and asthmatics. Under the bed was rubbish including a cigarette lighter.
- yan (4/5): - We lived in a motel. You can clearly hear the noise from the next room. There is no tables or chairs in the room. A small bench with two extremely high and uncomfortable stools in the room. Four of us had to stand around the bench for breakfast. There is only a double bed and one single when we paid for 4 people. The kids slept in a single bed. I still gave 2 stars because it is the outback, where at least we had a bed to sleep and a roof to keep safe. We cannot expect more than that. If you are tight on budget, it is not a bad option. We had no choice because there were no other places available. By the way, the pub steak was the best.
- Peter (8/5): - Nice room in a great open plan complex.
The room was comfortable with usual items. Toater, microwave and fridge.
My one tiny complaint is that we had plates and cups, but only cutlery was two knives.
The complex is right in town and has it's own pub, bistro and bottleshop.
There is also a caravan park section for those bringing their own accommodation.
Staff where nice and helpful.
- Chris (8/5): - Bistro onsite have lovely meals. Staff were courteous. Room was ok, not finished off, blanket in cupboard was not new, it had been screwed up and shoved in. No instructions for wifi or dining, just a map. Overall stay was ok, don't expect the finishing touches.
- Nigel (10/5): - Had a great stay.
- Jane (10/5): - Classic outback motel, we loved it. Room had good basic facilities and is right in town so easy to get to local shops and eating places. Staff were super friendly. Bottle shop on premises and also a swimming pool.
- Fiona (6/5): - Staff were very friendly. Room was very tired. Lounge in room was terrible-vinyl all torn; we needed to cover it with a blanket in order to sit on it. Microwave in room a great addition. Fridge hadn't been cleaned out properly from last guest with old food found in there.
- Vicki (10/5): - Loved the location. The bottleshop. And the pool
- Sue (6/5): - Great shower but bed was uncomfortable
- Eyvonne (8/5): - happy
- Mat (8/5): - Great location to pub and bowling club,
Fan needed a good clean
Air conditioner worked well.
Spare pillows in the room would be helpful
Lady at reception was lovely and welcoming
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Lightning Ridge.
- Anita (6/5): - Was right in town for easy walking to restaurant's.
Room very outdated and dark, had to wash all cutlery and crockery.
- GRAHAM (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay. good room, facilities etc. We would stay again.
- Eric (6/5): - Room was tired, needs some maintenance. Bugs dropping from near aircon above bed.
- Ruth (10/5): - Everything was good n what we expected Except the barking dog in the room next door
- Beverleyt (10/5): - Clean room
Staff were fabulous
- Catherine (10/5): - Close to most things, restaurant and pub were great, room was clean and comfortable.
- Garry (10/5): - Close to everything.. very quiet
- Marion (8/5): - Room was clean, but vey outdated, Needs a bit of TLC.
- Helen (8/5): good place to stay - comfy bed, good water pressure in the shower, very friendly and helpful reception
- Olga (4/5): - The location is quite good but it is so far removed from a ''resort'' that it's not funny! Very old and outdated and we could hardly wait to leave. Had two nights there which was two nights too many.
- Olivia (10/5): - Fantastic helpful staff love having everything in one place .. fantasic
- Phillip (8/5): - An authentic outback mining town experience with some magic curiosities and an outstanding experience in the hot springs pool over sunset and moon rise. The First Shaft lookout is not to be missed and Stanley the Emu is just fantastic
- Kristy (10/5): - We jagged a last room queen with single bed. $333 which it’s a nice big room basic yet clean and comfy. Staff were friendly, reception had a little shop and bottlo attached. Quick walk to the big open bar which was great we had dinner both nights. Food was great hubby loved thr Parma! Close to 3 pubs we would stay again thanks team!
- Christopher (6/5): - Ok
- Patricia (8/5): - Stayed before.
Had all we required for an overnight stay.
- Martin Thomas (8/5): - could do with a bit of updating but was pleasant enough. bed was too hard
- Elaine (8/5): - Lovely rustic cabins close to all that Lightning Ridge has to offer.
- Anthony (6/5): - I wouldn’t call the room deluxe but it was clean, comfortable and quiet with lots of space around.
- Geoffrey (6/5): - Had a reasonable night's sleep in a comfy bed & a hot shower which meets the basic needs in a remote place.
Resort is a misnoma. Rooms & public areas could do with a refresh.
Rooms & grounds are spacious.
- Robert (8/5): - Old fashioned
- Bradley (8/5): - .
- Chris (8/5): - Bed & room fine. Walking distance to Bowls Club. Shore drive to bore baths. Good overnight stopover heading North
- Vickie (10/5): - Good parking received wrong order with tea prompt service bed comfortable
- Dave (10/5): - Great Motel in a great location to everything in LR
- Warren (10/5): - It was a really nice and comfortable place to stay.
- Peter (8/5): - Plumbing maintenance required.
Restaurant didn't cater adequately for GF
- Craig (10/5): - Ok
- Keith (6/5): - The room is badly in need of renovation. Wardrobe door was hanging off as were some of the curtains which were a bit dirty. The carpet was very grotty. Altogether not a pleasant room to stay in. However, it appeared clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was clean and efficient. The price was a bit much for the condition of the room.
- ellen (10/5): - Loved the country feel and cosy bed. Such a big room.
After loosing booking due to accident was happy to be greated and quick check in
- ellen (10/5): - Big room and cosy bed
- Bruce (10/5): - Property was a touch "dated" BUT that is understandable being the original part of town. Staff were very helpful & attentive. Hayley in particular was most helpful.
Rooms were big, bed was a King & very comfortable. Facilities all functioned well. Hot water was excellent.
Location to town & LRBC was great. Room was quiet & well double brick insulated. complaints !No
- Marilyn (8/5): - Lighting terrible, no chairs or table, tv way too small
- Keith (8/5): - It was a comfortable room , close to the centre of lightning ridge town
- Janet (10/5): - Very pleasant staff. Very good amenities snd comfortable accommodation. Will return
- Peter (8/5): - Easy access
- Ingrid (10/5): - Very comfortable quiet & convenient.
Staff very friendly and accommodating
- Warwick (6/5): - One morning the hot water was barely luke warm.
The internet was very patchy. Most of the time it cut out so had to use our own data.
Staff were helpful except in respect of the internet.
Otherwise OK
- Rebecca (6/5): - Great facilities and bistro. The rooms were pretty noisy but the bed was very comfortable
- Justin (6/5): - Room could have been cleaner. Otherwise OK
- Andrew (8/5): - Great location
Close to Main Street and all facilities
- Christopher (10/5): - Will definitely come back here in 8 weeks time.

- Diane (6/5): - Staff friendly, but rooms were clean but tired. Need a refresh.
- Barbara (8/5): - Lovely stay
- Deb (8/5): - Milk hadn't been updated and bodywash was empty.
All else was great.
- Hannie (10/5): - Very relaxed, friendly and attractive place with camping and hotel rooms pleasantly dotted with bougainvillea.
- mark (8/5): - The property was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The property position is a great spot and the pub attached was real bonus. Good food and friendly atmosphere.
- Eric (10/5): - Location, location, location. Very friendly staff, good sized cabin well equipped. Quiet place to stay. Easy parking. Great value for the money, would definitely stay there again
- Allen (10/5): - Nice place close to town with good amenities
- Tony (10/5): - Excellent place for an overnight stay. All staff friendly and helpful. Bar and bistro great and good value for money.
- Paul (8/5): - All good. Fix the slamming door at the back of the bistro. Not good while having a meal.
- Gary (8/5): - Good front of office staff, great location, Caters for most needs, close to everything in town and can walk to eating places.
It is not the Hilton, but hey, this place is pretty good for a remote location in the middle of no where.
I have stayed here before and this would be my first choice next time too.
- Paul (10/5): - Friendly customer service with very good amenities and food
- Bruce (8/5): - It was clean neat tidy BUT needed updating. Stained pine walls and ceiling, plus the fluro needed changing and the bed lamps didn’t work at all made for a very dark interior
- Gail (2/5): - We stayed here 2 nights. Rooms very tired, in need of renovation on all levels. Bed was comfortable. All rooms had glass doors as entrance doors which ment you had to have the curtains across the doorway for any privacy. Showers were all small and open to the bathroom so water flooded the floor.
We had an unfortunate event while here. They need more security on the site, plus a contact for emergencies. No one contactable out of hours. All entrance doors need to be changed to solid doors. Would not stay again.
- Nathan (10/5): - Helpful staff and great location
- Dianne (6/5): - It was a good one night stop over.
Could walk to bowling club for dinner
- Leanne (8/5): 3 night stay - Good location, great bar n bistro food very good, friendly staff, room abit dated but comfy
- Mark (10/5): - We found the staff extremely helpful, our room was extremely comfortable and clean. The hotel staff were friendly and made us feel at home. We will be revisiting Lightning Ridge and will hopefully be able to stay at your resort again. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.
- Pat (8/5): - Room is small and has no ventilation but we were comfortable. Bathroom was very compact and not much bench space. Some restaurants were closed on Sunday night.
- Richard (10/5): - Great property, needs a little bit of work but very comfortable. The meals at the pub were excellent
- Margaret (10/5): - Having a huge bar area and also restaurant attached was a big bonus for us. Lovely to mix with local people who shared their experiences
- Deborah Gay (8/5): - Property was in a good location. Room was good and comfortable. Close to a couple of dining options which had good variety on menus.
- Paul (8/5): - You can't expect 5-star luxury in the middle of the opal fields, but it was very comfortable especially for just an overnight stay. We ate at the attached bistro where the young staff appeared to be very overworked.
- Gail (8/5): - My room had easy parking for trailer. Quiet and the Bistro meal was excellent.Best steak I’ve had for a long time.
- Betty (6/5): - Friendly staff, comfortable bed, good position but my shower didn’t work.
- Brendan (8/5): - .
- Leanda (6/5): - The room stank of stale cigarettes and the curtains were falling off the rails.
- Matt (8/5): - Well maintained and clean rooms
- Cynthia (8/5): - Nice cool rooms, some of lights didn’t work!
- Joe (8/5): - It was basic decor and a bit dated but had everything we needed for a couple of days. Pool was great and considering there is a bar on the premises really quiet. Great location.
Could do with bigger plates.
- Miklos (10/5): - Great for a few nights stay in the Ridge.
- Lee (10/5): - Comfy bed cute little room air con and fan very comfortable stay thank you so much 😊
- Beverley (6/5): - Air condoned was poor. A fan of any type would have given a better sleep
- Sharon (8/5): - Bed was so comfy and shower was awesome - fridge, TV, all the essentials thank you. Comfy room.
- Helen (6/5): - The room was okay but very dark, with wood panelling and limited kitchen facilities. The pool was good, however when we stayed the bistro was closed.
- Sue (6/5): - Property is very outdated, in need of a reno.
- Micahel (8/5): - Had everything we needed for our stay.
- Rachael (8/5): - Rooms were ok, they could have done with a better clean, they were very dusty.
Would have been nice to be forwarned that their bistro was not open though. Made the booking expecting not to go anywhere else for tea.
- Gaynor (6/5): - Room was in need of updating - loved the staff the lady that greeted me was so lovely and after a long day driving it was nice to see a happy face and nothing was a problem.
- Jude (10/5): - Staff very accommodating and friendly. Room comfortable and reasonably stocked, unfortunately only a microwave for cooking.
Swimming pool great!!
- Helge (6/5): - Good average motel
- Jessica (6/5): - What in amazing location the staff were every polite. But unfortunately the rooms seem really dated. From the ac and the tv still an old Antenna style which did not work at all for our stay for our child and down time. Some of the lights in room did not work. The room was ok for our stay but for the price would like something more updated.
- Justin (8/5): - Arrived late ladie in office was very nice.
- Robert (10/5): - Pub and bottle shop on property
- Dianne (6/5): Average room - No tv reception apart from ABC and NITV for 2 nights. Not a big deal but inconvenient. Had dinner at the onsite restaurant, would not do it again. Dreadful wait time and dinners were overdone. Drinks were very expensive also. Would recommend the bowling club for dinner, so much better. Our room was ok, nothing flash. Newer pillows would have been nice.
- Michael (10/5): - Just what we were looking for in Lightning Ridge
enjoyed our stay
