Guest Reviews
- Jacky (8/5): -
- Jo (9/5): - Tina looked after us nothing was any trouble, golf course right next door, free to play while you stay, short walk to the beach, the wildlife while staying there was impressive the van park is well maintained a short drive to other bays in the area for supplies as there isn't anything in halliday bay for that, the cabins sleep 6 has a small but well equipped kitchen in it, shower was a little small but I couldn't complain. We stayed over xmas and it was very relaxed atmosphere here. Thankyou for looking after us Tina
Regards jo Mitchell
- Tianni (10/5): - comftable
- Russell (5/5): Very basic, only the location saved it! -
- Alicja (10/5): Once again it was amazing! - We loved the blissful atmosphere of the place and the gorgeous landscape sourranding the area. The house we rented was clean, comfortable and really spacious, making it and ideal place to spend time with friends or family. The resort is also conveniently located, as the Cape Hillsborough is within 10 minutes driving distance, offering a great opportunity to spot some kangaroos on the beach during sunrise. Above all, we are greatful for all the help offered by the owner and his son. Thank you for saving our trip and making the key car’s crisis bearable! (btw somebody found the keys!).
I’m sorry we didn’t have a chance to thank you personally. Here is my mail: alicjaskolysz77@gmail.com so feel free to reach us so we can thank you properly :))
- Luke (10/5): Loved it - What a hidden gem. Great location , friendly and helpful staff with real value for money accommodation
- Hitesh (7/5): Had to stay while others were booked out - Not much to like there… very old property
- Kayleigh (7/5): -
- john (8/5): My son and I enjoyed our stay very much. - Position and abundant wildlife. Ceiling fan in bedroom hard to operate and noisy. Bunks too short and couch uncomfortable to sit on or sleep on. No comfy chairs.
- Hungerford (2/5): Pay the extra and go to Cape Hillsborough instead! - Lovely location Unfortunately the cabin was very dirty. States the cabin is air conditioned - the bedroom wasn’t, the fan in the bedroom wasn’t working properly either. The bedroom stink of cigarette smoke so was unusable by us. The washing machine facilities were so incredibly loud so we weren’t able to use the without scaring my toddler. The cabin was generally dirty and obviously unmaintained. States it sleeps 6 yet the kids beds weren’t made so I had to find the sheets to make the beds up myself (even though I had booked for them to be there too)
- Narelle (2/5): Curtains holey and dirty, furniture in bad shape, unable to sit on lounge and watch TV due to set up of room - Location Quality of accommodation
- Johann (8/5): -
- Jenna (10/5): -
- Lucinda (7/5): -
- Laurel (5/5): We were over to spend time with friends at Seaforth. - Great location. Awesome water pressure. Spacious. Private. Bed mattresses need replacing.
- Luke (8/5): -
- Lynsey (6/5): Enjoy our stay - Beautiful area
Clean and comfortable Nothing
- Gayla (2/5): - I didn't even end up staying.
- Wendy (7/5): -
- Rebecca (7/5): - Location and grounds were sensational. Air con made black mould
Ants
All pillow options were the same.
Sink leaking
- Jenny (1/5): For the price we paid, nothing was delivered. Tried to contact management via phone before writing this and no reply - Sorry but nothing Air conditioning wasn’t working , along with the tv Advertised a washing machine, yet there was only an empty cupboard. To top it off ants invaded our food.
Would totally recommend not using this property
- MatCan90 (6/5): - The proximity to the beach was amazing. Just a 5 min walk and you're there!
The cabin was spacious and well laid out. No aircon in the bedroom. The kitchen stove and oven are very outdated and could do with a freshen up to modern appliances. No microwave for reheating.
The dining table chairs were quite wobbly and could do with a freshen up. The varnish had gone long ago and were really showing their age.
There's also no proper couch, just the 2 bunk beds and a very old 2 piece fold out sofa bed with very thin mattresses and no back support of a traditional couch.
My cabin may have had a small leak or something with the toilet as throughout the night it sounded like it was refilling itself despite not being used.
- linda (8/5): -
- Peter (8/5): -
- Bec Langtry (5/5): - Quiet and tidy Was meant to have washer/dryer and the ac was full of mold.
- TIARNE (1/5): Rank! - The unit was disgusting. Toilet leaked into the carpet. No fly screens on windows
- Mariedith (10/5): - The comfort and affordable The curtain need to be change
- Neil (8/5): -
- Victoria (8/5): - peaceful and relaxing laid back place to stay
- mitchell (10/5): -
- Shane (4/5): - The beach Price, no milk tea or coffee. Hot water only lasted 2nin then went cold.
- Motiata (10/5): Cool Retro Resort for Relaxing Stay - The location is amazing, hop and a skip to the swimming enclosure, it’s super clean and cosy with a cool modern recently renovated bathroom, a cool retro vibe and very comfortable. It was so close to Cape Hillsborough for the sunrise kangaroo experience. There isn’t much to dislike, Haliday Bay doesn’t have any shops but it’s so close to Seaforth, that wasn’t a huge problem.
- Hugo (2/5): -
- Paramaporn (9/5): -
- Francisco (3/5): -
- Maddison (5/5): - Loved the location and how close everything was, the atmosphere and other guests were also friendly! Air conditioner did not work and looked like it had never been cleaned, no microwave, understaffed - which is very sad as the resort has so much potential to bring in money
- Theresa (1/5): I can’t imagine the “villa” passing a building inspection and the inside was not any better. - Location - close to beach. The furniture was old and scruffy. The curtains had holes and were filthy. The washing machine had been removed. The toilet kept loudly refilling during the night. The gutters had rusted and in some places were non existent. The lattice had been removed from the portico leaving rotten wood. There is no heating - the aircon is not reverse cycle. Kitchen is very old. One door in kitchen would not close. The oven was not sitting flush in the bench top. No fly screen/security screens so windows could not be opened. $150 a night! We couldn’t wait to leave.
- Linda (7/5): -
- Brown (5/5): -
- Funch (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic staff, location and value
- Barrie (8/5): Very good -
- Cath (7/5): Good -
- Nicole (6/5): - It was ok for 1 night stay.
- Sabina (1/5): Never again - Nothing Worst customer support/communication ever (description of the place itself is pretty bad from everyones who wrote a review already)
- Alice (10/5): - Tina was an amazing host and very accomodating to us
We had dinner at the restaurant
- Laura (8/5): - We only stayed here for one night and that was fine. It is a beautiful surrounding, very friendly and welcoming staff.
The cottage is a bit out of date, definitely can do with a little bit of renewing like the cooking area and the curtains are very old. We found the pillows were way too high, but this is each to their own of course.
We would come back as it is not all about the cottage, but it is a beautiful surrounding and friendly staff! Plus it was all very clean too!
- Mary-anne (8/5): Perfect for what we needed!! - Great location, easy checkin, roomy cabin with large king size bed!! Had everything we needed. A little dated but very comfortable
- Tammy (5/5): Passable - One of the units air-conditioning wasn't working and wasn't told.
- David (10/5): - Nice beachfront area and golf course. Staff is friendly and helpful
Rental cottage 50 needs exterior paint but the interior is well maintained. Old cooker/oven works. No washing machine. No microwave.
A good place for the price.
- Belinda (6/5): Quick overnight stay. Bed was super comfy. Location was great - Location is perfect. Beautiful spot It’s a bit outdated. Could do with some upgrades
- Anthony (8/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful part of the world. - A fantastic location with an owner that did so much for us to enjoy our stay. Beautiful location
- Deborah (6/5): Pleasant -
- Shauna (10/5): Great stay ! - Location is Amazing
- Jessica (3/5): Poor -
- Gerard (8/5): Had a nice stay - Proximity to the beach Getting a bit old
- Danica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Camilla (3/5): Poor -
- Peter (7/5): in an excellent location for a visit to cape hillsborough - the location and facilities-golf course tennis court volleyball court no internet
the whole resort is run down and could use a coat of paint and renovations
- Hitesh (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ginevra (7/5): The place was clean, friendly, and big. I really enjoyed it. - I liked that there was a beach in front of the property. And I really liked the birds walking around the houses. I didn’t like that there was only 3 sheets for two small beds. There wasn’t any ladder to go to the top bunk.
- Laure (8/5): Very good -
- Irene (7/5): Nice place to stay but with bad staff and not well organized - the location is great to go to Cape Hillsborough in the sunrise and the little cabins are very nice and modern, they have everything you need. We arrived late at night and nobody was there to assist us. I said since months ago our arrival time to schedule a late checkout. I said it again the day before and they told me to call to a number, I told them I could not make calls in Australia because of my sim card and to please schedule the details via booking or email but they were only replying me with the same, call to a number, ignoring what I was saying.
At the end I had to pay a sim card just to make this single call just to find out they left our keys in a hidden place in the dark, with no lights at all or any guidance. We were basically on the forest and we had no help, there was nobody to assist us. When I arrived I called again this number and they didn't pick up until 1 hour later to help us find our cabin. This made our experience really disturbing.
- Jessica (8/5): Very good - All we needed for one night Stained linen, towels didn’t smell fresh
- Nerida (7/5): Lovely, quiet location and fun for everyone. - Beds were comfy and room was clean and spacious.
Beautiful location and friendly staff at the bar.
Wildlife (wallabies, curlew, possums and ducks) wandering around the park was great for the kids to see! Toilet was not bolted down and wobbled. Room and facilities were dated but clean. Some things such as sheets and furniture could have been replaced as they were rather old.
- Trisha (1/5): It's a hard no from me :( - Location is perfect Unfortunately the strong smell of mould throughout the villa made it very hard to sleep, hay fever went into overdrive, sneezing constantly and very itchy eyes. Bunk beds were not made, the sheets in the cupboards to make the bunks smelt like mould and the pillow from the cupboards had mould on them. The blankets seemed to be 100 years old & the pillows felt like you were sleeping on sandbags, villas are very old and run down, I had paid for 2 nights, however, packed my kids up early in the morning and left, fortunately for us cape hillsborough accommodated us for the second night which was beautiful and clean.
Staff seemed very lovely over the phone when organising my key for me but this place has so much potential, it's a shame it's so run down.
- Denis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tamarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bradley (4/5): Nice location was semi comfy - The location was good Wasn’t told about washing not working until I rang reception
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Belinda (7/5): Good -
- Hayley (5/5): Passable - Location is beautiful Rooms are very dated, kids mattresses are old and need replacing. No washing machine as stated in booking and not really a resort feel. Accommodation is separate to main buildings and fenced off.
Toilet didn’t flush properly, stove was very old and a fire hazard.
Ok for the price but definitely needs to be upgraded.
- Misty (3/5): Poor -
- Robyn (3/5): Poor - The nearness to the beach was great, beach was beautiful and close to other beaches. Room was clean and bed comfortable. When originally booked on booking.com, it said it was pay at the property, which was why we booked it, then they tried to take it out earlier and rung us to say the card was declined. Told her I booked as pay at the property and if it couldn't be then to cancel the booking as my pay was not in.
On arrival, young men behind the counter trying to check us in were swearing. We had been on the verge of cancelling the booking and leaving when Tina turned up - she pulled them up immediately as they were still swearing and got us checked in quickly. She said the key would be in the door as the young men had said it had been finished - it wasn't and still had stuff from school kids that were checking out on the porch area. When we eventually got into the room, the area was clean, but oven/stove was very old and is rusty. Outside of the building is old and broken in some parts. Not one single smoke detector could be found, which I am certain is actually illegal. The cost was reasonable, but I still don't think it was worth the amount. Was given no instructions on evacuation points or check out procedure. We tried ringing Tina when checking out to find what to do with the key and got no answer, so I sent her a text to say we we leaving the key behind the bar counter. 2 days later, I still have not even gotten an acknowledgement. The 6 or 7 photos on the website do got give a clear and accurate depiction of the property.
Will not choose to stay here again.
- Michelle (2/5): Very poor -
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Melanie (10/5): - Nice and quiet area
- Darren (3/5): Poor -
- Connor (5/5): Passable -
- David (1/5): Bad - location was fine.couldn't lock door,no smoke alarm, water came up through the floor because drains clogged, mould, otherwise clean.

- Catherine (5/5): Beautiful location, but don’t expect to much with the room - Location Stove didn’t work, very very old and requires maintenance
- Amanda (6/5): - This was an interest property. Whilst the facilities are very basic and dated, it was quiet and close to the beach. There's a tennis court and golf course. Kids loved the kangaroos and birdlife.
- Mikela (6/5): Pleasant - The property was clean and the big bed was really comfortable It said we had a washing machine but didn’t have one my sister had one in her room next door but it was half filled up with water, mosquitoes are really bad and get inside quite easily.
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Karlie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lee (5/5): Okay if you only want somewhere to sleep - The location was amazing Cabins are very dated and the bed was uncomfortable
- Paul (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jan (6/5): Pleasant - The cabins are simple, but fine. Unresponsive to messages through the Booking.com app.
- Stacey (7/5): Restful - The location was nice and villas are quite private. Facilities in the villa.they are advised as self contained - No washing machine, stove was old and did not work, no microwave and no information about rubbish disposal etc.
- Belinda (3/5): Poor - Our towels and pillows were mouldy
The kids beds were made.
- Lynda (8/5): Just a short overnight stay while in the area. Loved close to wander down to the nice beach! - Basic rooms but comfortable, spacious and clean Finding our room at night was hard work. Not much lighting and had to drive around large campgrounds trying to find the small number on the cabin… it was ok though. We probably had looked at map upside down a few times and found it eventually
- Leigh (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (2/5): Left early - Left early Maintenance
- Alicia (2/5): Very poor -
- Amy (6/5): Good on ya mate! - Great location and friendly staff, great dinner! The single beds are not the most comfortable but for the price I paid, acceptable. I actually like the old school cabin.
- Rainer (8/5): Ok for a night - - good location
- many animals around
- spacious - no internet!
- stain on bed sheet
- a bit outdated
- Ginetta (2/5): - This property is misrepresented . The condition of the villas is terrible
There is NO washing machine, no cooktop, poorly equipped kitchen. FAULTY A/C Switch in the bedroom. No one should stay here and Expedia should not advertise it.
I should get a full refund for such a terrible experience.
- Alessandra (8/5): - Posto silienzioso, vicino al parco di Capehillsbourgh , ottimo per gli avvistamenti kamgaroos
- Matteo (9/5): Superb -
