Guest Reviews
- Brett (8/5): The Tonic has everything you require, dog friendly. Great value and is surround by good restaurants. - No breakfast provided however all the facilities for you to bring your own provided in the kitchen. The room and the view off the verandah were very good. They also provide another area for all guests to use with all the facilities you need including an open log fire which was amazing. Also it is dog friendly. The bed wasn't real comfortable.

- Talia (10/5): We had the most incredible stay here. We weren’t sure what to expect having booked it as the last night on an extension - The location of the property was incredible. The view was amazing, it was quiet and the ambience was perfect Nothing

- Kristian (9/5): -
- Natalia (8/5): It was very nice - Nice balcony , location There were cobwebs on windows and the water in the bathroom sink and shower went everywhere
- Pele Junior (10/5): Couldn’t complain with the accomodation, in terms of location from where we were attending a wedding it was perfect. - Nice little setup they had going
- Glen (10/5): Very happy with the reception on arrival- the early availability and comforting linen and towels, bathrobes - This was a gem, we absolutely loved the room - bath and pool. The stars were not bright enough- 🙃
- JOANNE (10/5): -
- Dita (9/5): A fantastic place to wind down and enjoy the region. Beautiful views and a fabulous property. - Lovely views from all rooms and the pool was great to escape the heat. We were upgraded (thank you Ian!), so we had a full kitchen which definitely made our stay even more pleasant as the location is fairly remote and really needed to drive anywhere to eat out. We loved eating breakfast on the deck in the morning and then coming back to watch the sun go down with wine & nibblies in the evening. Air conditioning in every room was awesome and definitely needed for a hot February stay. Beds were a little firm for our liking but that's a very personal thing. Would have been nice if the AC had been turned on when we arrived as it was a very hot day.
- Michelle (8/5): - Perfect location for what we needed and room as described. The communal kitchen/entertaining area was very good. No shower screen, so bathroom gets very wet. Unfortunately the people in the room next door had very 2 very loud kids, with the whole family staying in one only king room, so we did not have a very peaceful stay.

- Elizabeth (10/5): Really lovely property, best sleep of my life. - Great views, really comfy bed, really good location, great hosts. Nothing it was great.

- Alexandra (10/5): The most relaxing place to be in the Hunter - Peaceful with only the sounds of the birds. Lovely to watch the ducks flying and paddling over the dam and kangaroos everywhere Nothing
- Brittany (9/5): Great pet friendly hotel! - Great, pet-friendly stay. Perfect for a weekender (or longer) in the Hunter Region.
- Susan (10/5): - We had a fabulous weekend with our beautiful Airedale. The location is amazing, with views over a lake to the mountains. We loved the airy room, with polished floor and lovely bathroom. So quiet, but handy to wineries and the freeway. Our weekend at tonic was a real tonic away from the city!
- Wendy (10/5): - lmodern clean stylish practical and beautiful sunset amd views
- Monica (8/5): My stay was comfortable and enjoyable. - I really liked how clean and comfortable the place was. The location was also very convenient, which made it easy to get around. Overall, I felt very welcomed and enjoyed my stay. The bathroom should have something to help dry the floor after you take a shower
- MARIANNE (10/5): Mother and adult daughter trip to the Hunter done in style. Somwhere to inspire anyone who is intetested in design and r - The beautiful decor and remote setting. Nothing.
- Bradley (10/5): -
- Lourdesny (10/5): -
- Annelle (8/5): Relaxing and peaceful weekend in Hunter - Great spot, love taking our furry friend along too. It was very cold. Hard to heat on arrival with glass and concrete floors.
- Ryan (10/5): We loved our stay! - We loved our stay with the pooch, clean apartment with views. A couch in the room would be nice.
- Klaudia (10/5): Great place to stay! Highly reccomend! - The room was huge!
- Bourne (9/5): Superb - We loved the room! The finishes were really nice and suitable for a pet. Large area for our dog to run around and she loved to look out at the lake. The huntsmen spiders in the room. We understand that they are part of the environment but on multiple occasions, we found one in the room.
- Jingbin (9/5): Superb -
- Erin (8/5): Great stay and location, ability to take our furry friends a plus. - Loved the location and the outlook. Animals close by, nice place to walk around and very quiet location. The facilities were great.
Dog friendly is fantastic.
Probably best for a medium size group (6 or so) if in the single studios, or in the 2-bedroom for 4. Bed was contentious, I loved it, Mrs did not. Can be a little noisy if in the single bedroom rooms if a loud couple is next door. Single rooms have very little seating (no sofa) and no real prep area. The common area accounts for those though.
- Jane (9/5): Great place we will return - Great Location. Pet friendly. We had room 1 plenty
Of room great beds large bathroom. Lots of outdoor area to walk the dog. Highly recommend
- Mario (10/5): Exceptional - The property has beautiful cabin type accommodation with superb views and it is totally dog friendly The hike in room rates over the long weekend
- Elena (10/5): A comfortable home away from home in nature - High end house with all its needed for a comfortable home away from home The pool was minimal, more like a plunge pool. A wider deck would have been more inviting to go in to it. I didn’t mind much because I don’t tend to use pools
- Felicity (10/5): Exceptional - Peaceful and beautiful location. Would return.
Relaxing and tranquil by the water and onto a few mins drive from amenities or 20 mins from the main winery areas. Comfy rooms and very clean and spacious.
The rooms get sun all day round, fabulous position to enjoy the views. Highly recommend! It would have been great to have info before check in on how to arrive eg room number and code. They very helpful when we arrived and called. Also would be good to have some info in the rooms on the property of local things, or have items available to purchase for breakfast.

- Dean (10/5): - Clean,relaxing
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (9/5): Superb -
- Katie (10/5): Peaceful place in prime Hunter Valley location - Beautiful location. Close to wineries. Peaceful. Pool was great for cooling down. Club house was perfect for cooking your own food. Everything was good.
- Narelle (8/5): Great place, would stay again - Very nice outlook from the room, really nice rustic type accommodation It was like walking into an oven on arrival. Would have been good if someone flicked the air con on earlier on the day for us
- Tayla (5/5): Passable - Viewing the wild life It didn't feel private the next door villa could see onto our balcony, and I though upon booking you would get your own villa but it's three rooms in the one block so could hear people playing music through the walls of next door.
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Amazing bed. Comfortable
- Alexis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jin (9/5): Great place to come wind down and relax! Dog friendly! - We booked the room with 2 bedrooms and living area, room 1. The place was nicer than expected and better than the photos. Spacious living area with a great view and fully equipped kitchen. Although when we used the microwave, it seemed like it worked but didn’t heat anything so had to just use the stove. There’s also a coffee machine but no pods available so you’ll need to bring your own nespresso pods. They give complimentary teas, and coffee sachets, and sugar, salt, pepper, and 2 small packets of milk. They have all pots and pans, plates, utensils available to use. The rooms were very clean and nice. Awesome view of the lake from the entire place. Separate showers and toilets which was great. They provide shampoo, body wash, bath salt for the tub, cotton buds, slippers to wear inside the place etc. the balcony is nice and spacious and has table and chairs so you can sit out with the view of the lake. Overall it was a nice place and would come back again!
Ps-love that the place is dog friendly!!!! Nothing much to say but the only issue was the microwave which seemed broken cause it didn’t heat anything. It would have been nice to have provided the coffee pods since there’s a coffee machine but that’s okay since they provided coffee grounds.
There’s no cafe or restaurant in the hotel area so you’ll need to bring your own food. I message the hotel through the app but didn’t get any reply.
There’s a small pool but looked like it wasn’t clean and there was some kind of hose inside the pool so we couldn’t use it.
The place is nice but there are no other facilities you can use or enjoy.
- Phawinee (9/5): Superb -
- Jacob (8/5): Overall a great stay for a quick weekend trip and would definitely stay again - The functionality and simplistic nature of the place was a massive positive for us. The view off the back of the room was picturesque of the countryside. No shower screen of some sort with quite a lot of water going on the floor
- Linda (8/5): - Property was peaceful, nice place to stay to get away from the crowds
- Daniella (9/5): Tonic in Lovedale was comfortable and stylish, creating the perfect atmosphere for relaxation. - Loved the views and stylish room. TV
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Holly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellie (9/5): Wonderful - Spacious, clean and great location Would have been nice to have own coffee machine
- Gregory (9/5): Superb -
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evan (9/5): Great quality and location, highly recommended. - Great view, clean and nice apartment with good facilities. Streamlined check-in and check-out. Rooms are adjacent to each other as opposed to being separate bungalows or cabins so could be an issue for travelers wanting seclusion or guaranteed peace and quiet, but we didn’t notice the neighbors at all.
- Baden (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dylan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leo (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (8/5): A lovely short stay - would come back again. - Location, styling room layout. Lovely toiletries and bath robes. Excellent tea and coffee choices and all the kitchen basics provided. Beds were very firm and could provide more pillow options (too hard). The doona was also very warm. The blinds were ineffective at blocking light and would suggest they needed to be wider than the louvre windows.
- Halina (8/5): Great location and dog friendly - Great location and scenery. Dog friendly. Room was spacious and stylish. Soundproofing could be better - could hear conversations from next door. Shower pressure was weak. Basin tap design.
- Shaun (8/5): - Very peaceful and clean little bungalow! Only wishing the room had a mini bar and some snacks.
Bit of warning for incoming visitors in the warmer months, that there's the odd Brown snake around. Didn't venture down to the pond, just stayed on the deck :)
- Darren (9/5): Superb -
- Ana (8/5): It’s a good holiday home but shouldn’t be advertised as a hotel. - We were upgraded so it was way better than what we booked and the accomodation was very roomy. The quietness was really welcoming for a restful night. The kitchen was really nice and big and well equipped. The decor is modern and all are very practical. we thought it was indeed a hotel thus expected breakfast or at least continental breakfast, or extra towels as we stayed for 3 nights and no dryer to dry the the only 2 towels we’d had. The shower tap kept falling as it needs replacement.
- Katharine (10/5): A wonderful couples weekend with our pup - The property is dog friendly and has vast grounds for the pup to play. The room has all amenities required for a wine loving weekend away. Teddy was comfortable sleeping with us and the room warmed up quite nicely with the heater going. Loads of local wineries and cafes and restaurants.
- Claudia (9/5): Superb -

Pillows were v hard.
- Jade (10/5): - We loved our stay at Tonic. It was tranquil and cosy. We will definitely be back!
- Sue (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (9/5): Relaxing vibes with sunset lake views experienced in comfort. - The beautiful situation and view. Two identical master bedrooms and bathrooms for 2 couples was really nice. We could not get the gas fire to stay on.
- Maria (8/5): Chilled and relaxed, enjoyable and so peaceful great place to escape for a quick getaway - Location great views spacious cabin Outdoor setting a bit old
- Rachelle (9/5): Superb - beautiful location
beautifully appointed
Great amenities for self catering
Flexible and responsive staff There was some confusion whether breakfast was offered from (old) reviews on Google. Suggest updated info on website to reflect that it is self-catering only
- Sarah (10/5): Eye soothing relaxation - Tranquil property with divine views of the pond. Easy self check-in and greeted to relaxing music. Huge bathroom with a full bath. Full kitchen with quality equipment.

- Voula (8/5): Lovely for a couple getaway excellent location and rooms are spacious with all facilities needed - The facilities were excellent . The location was very private what we needed for a couple get away. It was quiet clean spacious and exactley what a couple needed for weekend away. The main house had all the facilities needed to cook up a storm and just sit on the balcony and enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. would go again well worth it . To have a plunger and plunger coffee in the kitchenette. Or provide a kettle to use the instant coffee. mayb some complimentry bottled cold water and some milk and biscuits for some afternoon tea.
