Guest Reviews
- Brigitta (9/5): Cosy, clean and relaxing. Beautiful location. Perfect for our weekend away! - Cosy, clean and relaxing. Beautiful location. Taps in bath a bit difficult to turn on and off properly
- Ray (9/5): - Breakfast was fantastic....far greater than expectation
- shane (9/5): Would def recommend and def would come back again - Both were fantastic Maybe parking facilities but overall it's a wonderful place
- Helen (8/5): - It was cosy and bed was comfortable and location is very good. Would have liked the kitchenette to have a sink.
Decor and TV are a bit tired.
- Gill (9/5): Lovely stay . - Lovely rooms and garden areas . Great breakfast supplies Able to walk to restaurants . Maybe a couple more eggs would have been nice . A few mosquitoes around too at night inside
Hard to find driveway in at first … would be very hard to find in dark .
Noise upstairs when people walking around .
- Michele (8/5): Olde Worlde Charm - The olde worlde four poster bed and suite We struggled a bit with stairs
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Xinhe (10/5): -
- paul (10/5): Very romantic place to stay - A lovely place to stay. Very romantic and we had a breakfast provide each day. It’s a great get away!
- Dakota (10/5): -
- Carolina (10/5): Absolutely lovely! - The beautiful location and surroundings, the vintage architecture and decor, the tranquility of my stay (I really appreciate the peace and quiet), the lovely hosts who were ahead in sending instructions and accommodating with my request.
- Kerry (10/5): - Nice quiet and cosy. Very close to some good pubs and food. Loved the spa. Leaving! 🤣
- Kz (10/5): -
- Phillip (10/5): - Quaint old style with modern touches
- Michael (10/5): -
- Poudel (10/5): Cozy and comfortable - Breakfast was free and location close to village and SkyHigh Mount dandenong Excellent
- Meredith (10/5): -
- Glenn (10/5): Easy transaction, helpful service and attention to detail which is a rare thing these days - The attention to detail and the willingness to help Nothing
- Craig (7/5): Got what we expected, basics were good, has potential if little annoyances are fixed up. - Secluded, quiet country style stay. Little shops and pub just down the road was good. Kelly's. There are lots of very little things that need upgrading for todays world.
The TV is too old - HD channels not showing up because the TV only displays in Standard Definition, so we couldn't even get channel 7, because they are all HD now - this needs immediate action. I would definitely remove the unit holding the current set up and replace with a wall mount modern 42 Inch. These are very cheap now in HD. Open up the room space as well
Bathroom big tub was great and the shower is fine, but the handles are very hard to turn. You could replace taps only with modern half turn valves, but keep in the same old school gold style. it would match and be a breeze to use.
Cooker - the top grill is missing feet and the pan is wobbling all over when trying to cook breakfast on it - kind of takes away from a well supplied breakfast ingredients and juice. I would review utensils as well. The hall way from the door is very dark - A skylight would be ideal, but you could solve it with small sensor light that comes on when people walk up and down there.
Car Park and Entry - its great to be well shaded and leafy it is a lovely garden, but it needs opening up.
When you park the car in the front space the garden edging stones are too close and you can't walk to the doors or unload luggage that easily. You have to have one foot on the stones and one foot in the driveway.
When you walk to the back stairs, it's too crowded with growth, need trimming back so you don't get scratched as you try to enter with your bags.
WiFi - needs to be better, given the remote location our phones with Telstra and Optus could hardly get reception, but we kind of wanted to unplug so we didn't bother making a thing of it, but some people wouldn't like this for sure.
Don't get me wrong - it was good, Great for the price. Fix these little things and It would be awesome.
- Tracey (9/5): Cute little coach housr - Olinda is beautiful. The property was lovely.
Right near places to eat (Pig & Whistle, is an absolute must).
Breakfast provisions were plentiful with good choice. The couple of things I wasn't a fan of are just me being picky, nothing to do with the owner.
- Shepparton (7/5): Quaint little place but needs a little TLC - Cute, quant place. Location was great. The place is showing its age and needs a little TLC. Cleanliness misses the boat. Thank goodness we didn't need to use the ceiling fan as the dust was extensive. Cob webs etc.
- Andrew (10/5): A weekend break in the Dandenong and a return visit to this lovely very liked accommodation. Highly recommended - Very comfortable rooms in a great location.
Rooms are very well equipped and the provisions provided are excellent and well thought out. Great communication from owners. Absolute pleasure staying here. Nothing to dislike.
- Kerry (7/5): -
- David (7/5): - Clean quite and well appointed. Excellent supplies provided to cook a full English or Continental breakfast The heating and cooling was adequate but not ideal
- gary (9/5): - Quiet and comfortable No air conditioning, but good air flow with windows open
- Sharyne (8/5): Comfortable and good location. - Great position for exploring the Dandenong’s. A little noisy being on the main road. And no air conditioning.
- Abby (8/5): - Breakfast was great, love that the ingredients were provided (bread, English muffins, spreads, bacon, eggs, spinach, tomatoes, cereal). I like that we could make it ourselves, gave us the flexibility we needed. Lovely location, super cute vibes. The kitchen tap was kind of insane, couldn't turn it on without turning it on 100%
Also some of the lights didn't seem to work which made it a bit dingier than expected
- Bec (10/5): Beautiful and cosy - Accommodating breakfast options for vegans, had a range of amenities that were both useful and thoughtful to include. Quiet, clean, and easy to navigate. Lovely decor and view of the garden. Nothing, honestly!
- James (9/5): Excellent and cozy, we will be back. -
- Sharon (8/5): Our accommodation at Mary Cards Coach House was welcoming, being warm, cosy and tastefully decorated - Breakfast was great, really appreciated all of the supplies, also really liked the orange juice.
The location was perfect, and the apartment was tastefully decorated, peaceful and quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable and although there was no electric blanket we were warm and cosy. We would have preferred a walk in shower, rather than the spa, as it was difficult to get in and out for the shower.
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Nellie (8/5): -
- Lesley (10/5): My Sister & myself had a memorable stay, thank you! - We loved our stay at Mary Card's Coach House. Great location, loved everything. Fridge was filled with yummy breakfast ingredients, cereals, porridge, fruits also supplied. Cold bottled water & juice also. We will be back! I would've liked better coffee cups.
- David (10/5): -
- Jodie (9/5): - Quiet location but walking distance to town, lovely charm and gardens. I could hear the people upstairs walking on the floor boards.
- Olha (9/5): - Everything is perfect in this place - lovely owners, beautiful, stylish and spacious rooms, great location and the fridge full of yummy food! Thanks for my amazing weekend!
- Charmaine (10/5): -
- richard (8/5): Good comfortable stay, in a peaceful and excellent location - Flexibility of property owners, as well as their helpfulness. Also, quality of the food provided for breakfast, and location of the property which provided easy access to restaurants and walks/places of interest Nothing
- Kevin PEATE (9/5): - Cosy Gardens overgrown especially in car park. Parking spot narrow and hire Car received scratches
- Patricia Anne (9/5): Excellent - Very comfy room. Given great brekky supplies. Convenient location Nothing
- Tim (10/5): Very happy with our accommodation. - Breakfast we cooked bacon and eggs and toast, all supplied in the room. The room was nice and large with electric fireplace plus another heater, which was handy. Very clean and quiet.
- Nitika (10/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Kristy (7/5): Cute, cozy and warm. - The location was gorgeous. it was out of the way of Olinda but not to far for places to go and see. The Baltic Suite room was beautiful. It was neat and tidy and was very comfy. There was a bit of dust around and spider webs outside the door. We also didn't like the intruder when we got back on Saturday afternoon. The doors and everything was closed but somehow a wasp ended up in our room. Other then that we feel the bushes and trees near the stairs going up could also have been cut back a fair bit for room to go up the stairs without brushing the overgrowth.
- Jack (8/5): -
- Debbie (9/5): Great BnB - It was the perfect place to stay. Close to restaurants & shops.
The breakfast basket was a lovely touch.
- Raymond (10/5): -
- N (10/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Our favourite Dandenong start - We love coming here. It's within walking distance to the Rhododendron gardens, there's the coffee roaster down the road, the bakery, the two pubs and Kelley's. Breakfast is provided. It's really comfortable and slightly old worldly..
- Lily (10/5): - We loved the breakfast ingredients, the jacuzzi, and the comfortable bed! Lovely and quiet surroundings.
- Luke (10/5): -
- Alina (10/5): Perfect place to stay to explore olinda - Perfect location, clean and well equipped
- Barbara (10/5): - Excellent
- alexandra (10/5): Would recommend it for any couple who want a romantic weekend away. Affor - Richard was lovely and friendly, room was lovely and romantic. Generous with providing breakfast. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Needs maintenance around the spa area
- geraldine (8/5): -
- Antonina (8/5): We had a lovely stay in a lovely location. - Cosy accommodation with a comfortable bed and a plentiful amount of breakfast supplies. I didn’t like coffee. Both ground and instant seemed stale.
- Gabrielle (9/5): Warm, cozy and comfortable stay, with a great breakfast supplied in a beautiful setting - Very cosy and comfortable, lovely setting and walking distance to pubs, cafes and shops
Fabulous self catering breakfast supplied Bed very comfortable and warm No complaints
- Croft (10/5): A heavenly stay. Perfect for a weekend getaway amongst all the trees!! - I had the most incredible stay. It absolutely exceeded my expectations. It was just so beautifully set up. The interior was gorgeous, so much character. My host was so warm and inviting. Breakfast was provided and I found it to be very lavish. I feel like she went above and beyond. It was private, warm (because I visited in winter) and I honestly just wish I'd stayed longer! Thank you for an incredibly memorable stay and I really really hope to be back. My only criticism and it's pretty minor because I wasn't there to watch TV. But there wasn't the best TV reception and minimal options for watching a movie. But again, that didn't bother me too much.
- Martina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Vanessa (10/5): So cosy and peaceful! - I loved my stay here. I had a weekend away on my own and needed somewhere peaceful and cosy. It was just that. My room overlooked the beautiful garden and had everything I needed. Close to shops, host was very helpful and the whole setting had so much character.
- Caleb (8/5): - Stay was nice, the room is well equipped with breakfast and toiletries however the wifi barely worked
- Andrew (10/5): A short weekend break in beautiful Olinda. - Firstly, the communication from the owner was excellent, and we were upgraded which was a very nice surprise.
The location was great with just a very short walk to pubs and take-aways and local shops.
The room was very well equipped and all facilities were very clean and comfortable.
The breakfast provisions were great (even though we actually used them for a picnic lunch).
Overall a very nice weekend stay, thanks you Paula, and will be very happy to stay again and to highly recommend to others. Nothing to dislike.
- Anne (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. Paula was very accommodating and ensured we had everything we needed. The rooms were fabulous and the gardens were relaxing.
The house was near to all the places we wanted to see. We'll certainly be returning in the near future.
- John (8/5): - The operator sent a comprehensive email on how to enter, but no personal contact. The accomodation was compact and comfortable, and the breakfast provisons excellent.
- Austin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (3/5): Uncomfortable and unsatisfying - The building itself externally was lovely unfortunately it was dark dingy, dirty and outdated on the inside. Tight parking area, a lot of slippery stairs up to enter the room and we didn’t end up staying the 2 nights as after the first night both my partner and I had sore backs from the hard bed ended up staying else where.
- Sherry (8/5): Comfortable, cozy stay - Cute and cozy. Appreciated the mini dining space, lovely furnishings, and nice bathroom. Breakfast supplies were great, had everything we could've wanted. Very nice service from the host as we can leave dirty dishes every morning and have them cleaned for us. Location was good, close to bus stop, walk trails and some cafes/restaurants. We personally enjoyed the Thai restaurant nearby. Upon entry it definitely smelt a bit musky, even though windows were open. We left it open for most of our stay, I can imagine that'd be difficult to do during winter. As expected from older buildings, there were creaky spots on the floor and I noticed noise travelled fairly easily between other rooms. Thankfully wasn't a problem for us this time.
- Christalia (7/5): Good - Location is great and shower pressure is wonderful Just couldn’t sleep not sure if it was the bed
- Rebecca (5/5): Good position can walk to shops and pubs - It was peaceful People staying above you kept us up most of the night you can hear them walking around and it’s quiet loud
Could probably give it a really deep clean too
- Meitong (9/5): Superb -
- Malcolm (7/5): Good -
- Wendy (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was really good, plenty of great food!
Beautiful clean room, in lovely old building. Best coffee 5 mins walk down the road.
- Lachlan (9/5): A cute and leafy property in the heart of the Dandenongs and within an easy walk of shops and pubs. - Breakfast was a self-cook but bacon, tomato, baked beans, muffins, eggs and spinach were all provided. Even better, you just had to leave your dirty dishes on a tray outside the room and they were cleaned and returned by the evening.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property, very helpful owners and magnificent breakfasts. Would recommend this delightful place.
- Caroline (10/5): Delightful place from which to visit the Dandenongs. - Charming site, very comfortable rooms, a range of breakfast ingredients supplied but dishes cleaned by the owner. Very close to attractions.
- Nicole (5/5): We stayed here 3 years ago loved everything about the place but unfortunately no upkeep. - The location is great and lovely breakfast. The bed was not very comfortable we think the mattress needs replacing. The bathroom smelt of mildew and there was mould on the ceiling.
- Madeleine (10/5): We enjoyed every aspect of our stay! It was comfortable, clean, cosy and breakfast provided was appreciated. We will be - We loved this property. It thoughtfully catered to us in every detail. Paula was available by phone and kindly sent us weather warnings during our stay. We liked everything!
- Leesa (10/5): Beautiful, cozy and clean! - Had an amazing stay. The place with clean and comfortable, especially the bed. It felt super cozy and the breakfast ingredients in the fridge were an added bonus. I went by myself to have solo trip to unwind and I’m so glad this is where I stayed. The grounds were beautiful, and after a storm it became misty and so picturesque. Would stay again.
- Ayako (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (8/5): Beautiful location and beautiful property. Would have been nice to have more for the price, however. - Great location. Kitchen provided helped cook the food provided. Probably should have provided a King Sized bed, considering the money paid.
- Sue (8/5): Host Paula was very helpful & obliging. Always quick to answer any queries. The ambiance of the coach house definite - Stayed in Oak Suite - courtyard so relaxing & peaceful. Well kept property. Very convenient location.Plenty of breakfast provisions provided. Very dark through out the day - always needed lights on. Shower over spa bath didn’t appeal. Despite grab rail it was awkward.
- Wei-hao (8/5): Very good -
- Penny (9/5): Superb -
- Cavallo (8/5): A really cute, small weekend getaway place if you enjoy the Dandenong Ranges and nearby small towns. - My partner and I really enjoyed having the breakfast supplies given with the utilities - it made for a lovely couple of breakfasts. The lights were able to be brightened or dimmed which made everything more comfortable. The stove, oven, and microwave proved useful in the small kitchen, and it's a lovely place for a weekend getaway. The place was a little dusty but it was totally manageable. The bed was quite old (but quaint). We're not quite sure if there was a heater because we couldn't figure out if the little portable fireplace produced heat or remained a light source.
- Claire (10/5): Peaceful Olinda escape - The Oak room was beautiful and spotlessly clean. I had more than enough lovely brekky supplies and Grey Grey the owner's rabbit was cute company in the beautiful grounds.
The location was ideal, 5 mins walk to shops including a great pizzeria and an IGA. The village is only 15 mins walk up the hill or a 5 min drive. My room was downstairs, nice and cool and quiet.
Having arrived via bus, I only needed to walk 5 mins to the accommodation. I will definitely return and can't reccommend the property and hosts highly enough. I wish I could have stayed longer! No issues at all for me.
- Claudia (10/5): Absolutely perfect for a couples weekend away. Strongly recommended! - Very cosy, clean, has kept the olden day style perfectly throughout the property, beautiful gardens, no-one bothers you throughout your stay but owners are on the property in case of anything & great food available for breakfast in your room. There wasn’t anything that disappointed!
- Ozlem (5/5): Passable -
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
- Miki (9/5): Lovely little weekend retreat - Lovely wooden feel and the bed was gorgeous. Walking distance to shops. Leafy grounds Bit of noise from upstairs
- Joseph (9/5): Excellent location, great breakfast included and very relaxing. - The supplied breakfast was amazing and very generous. Nothing
- Nazmoon (9/5): Good - Everything Nothing
- Beva (10/5): Gorgeous cottage in the heart of The Dandenongs. Highly recommended. - Mary Cards Coach House is a group of 3 ‘units’ to stay. We had the ‘Queen suite - oak’ which was on the ground floor and totally delightful. It consisted of a small lounge with a TV, separate kitchen with stove, microwave, oven. fridge and dishwasher. It was well stocked with generous food items. The bedroom had a comfortable 4 poster bed and the bathroom had a spa bath with shower above. The other 2 places to stay at Mary Cards were on the floor above and looked much smaller, but still comfortable. The location is excellent. Within walking distance to the Pig & Whistle pub and the Olinda shops. There is parking on the premises. The WiFi wasn’t great. Activity (footsteps) could be heard from the units above. Both minor issues.
- Hannah (8/5): 2nd time staying here - it was a very lovely & cosy couple nights away. All my favourite hike/food spots are wit - Stayed here twice I absolutely love it. Such a cute garden and property! Very cosy place to stay There were parts of the room / furniture that weren't cleaned properly. Some of the bath, the bath jets, bed head and other random parts of the room I guess they are just spots that are easy to miss or hard to clean. Other than that, you can tell the place is nicely looked after.
- Glenda (8/5): Very pleasant - Quiet and attractive location, clean rooms, close to attractions. Breakfast supplies were very generous. A door between kitchen and bedroom would have been nice.
- Andy (9/5): Superb -
- Lesley (7/5): Relaxing time away in a charming apartment as part of a pretty garden setting at Mary Coaches - Good breakfast supplies and very close to the Mt Dandenong shops. Third time staying at property! No hot water for a spa when we decided to have one late at night (needed to have remembered spa hours)
- Elizabeth (8/5): great weekend away!!!! - I loved the ambiance if the green surroundings. the cottage was fully contained. I loved the amazing communication with the person in charge of the booking. I didn't like the fact that the mosquitos ate us. hahaha bring mosquitos coil if you want to sit outside. yes they provided us with aeroguard spray but it was pretty painful those bites.
- Connie (9/5): Comfortable and charming - Beautiful and comfortable. Old furniture and a stale smell but added to the charm. The owners thought of everything The shower was over the spa bath and was tricky getting in and out of.
- Dixon (8/5): Very good -
- Kenneth (10/5): Comfortable, pleasant, and beautiful. - Great honeymoon destination. Very comfortable and secluded. Guest information book was very informative. Plenty of food supplied.
