Guest Reviews
- Cameron (8/5): - A unique experience
- Julie (10/5): - Staying at Zoofari is a wonderful experience. Beautifully layed out tents with a patio where you can sit for hours watching the savannah animals. The 2 tours give you a look at some of the behind the scenes areas of the zoo. The food is amazing and so fresh. The staff are so helpful and friendly. We stayed for 2 nights and loved it.
- Leah (10/5): - The whole glamping with an animal view and tours were amazing, we’ve too many photos! The staff were also standout, so friendly and helpful to accommodate our needs. Worth the splurge for something a bit different, and for a good cause.
- Jessica (8/5): - The experience was incredible, the
- Kara (10/5): - Wonderful experience. Lovely staff and clean and tody amenities
- Faay (10/5): - Worth a long drive. All staff were excellent customer service, especially Greg who did our private tour on the second day was very professional and full of knowledge.
- Karen (10/5): - Lovely stay in a glamping tent at Zoofari Lodge with the most amazing view of the Savannah at Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
All the wonderful staff were fabulous, especially Isabelle and Emma who checked us in and took us on evening and morning special experiences. Food was delicious, could'nt fault anything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a wonderful stay. The view from our room was very nice and the giraffes were right in front of us. Dinner, breakfast and two tours were included. Services were excellent!
- Tracey (10/5): - Whole property and experience at Zoofari from the included tours to the first class meals, exceptional staff plus the animal encounters were all truly incredible and a fantastic memory for myself and my visiting family from the UK. A truly magical experience and one not of us will ever forget
- Jenny (10/5): - The staff at Zoofari Lodge is amazing. They are all so helpful especially Jacob and Isabella. Helen was incredibly friendly. They really look after you with their hearts - took care of my husband so well in a wheelchair - big call-out to Terry who was with my husband during the zoo tour - thank you Terry. I was very impressed how appreciative the staff was with our visit and always expressing their thanks to help Taronga Zoo a non profit organisation. The animals are so well looked after - there is a lot of love here both to the animals and guests and visitors to the zoo - AMAZING- thank you so very much !
- Analese (10/5): - Can't recommend this highly enough. What a fantastic experience. The staff work so hard and were so welcoming. To see Giraffes, Rhinos, Ostriches, Impalas...etc right outside our accom was so special. The only negative I could find was that there wasn't enough time from check-in to get settled and take it all in before the sundown tour. We all agreed that 2 nights would be perfect to fully experience it all and get some downtime to enjoy and watch the animals with a drink from our balcony. All in all it was an outstanding experience and will be talking about it for years to come.
- Erin (10/5): - An exceptional stay in a bush view lodge "tent". The included activities were delightful (feeding a giraffe was a highlight!), and the three-course dinner was absolutely delicious, as was breakfast the next day. Excellent gluten free options too, which was much appreciated! Staff were wonderful, tours fabulous, room was comfortable and warm despite it being 0C overnight. 'Tents' are starting to show a little bit of age and a little refresh wouldn't go amiss, but honestly this didn't detract from the stay at all. Highly recommended!
- Andrew (10/5): - Incredible comfortable cabins so close to a huge field full of wild African animals.
- Jen (10/5): - Loved the whole experience. Staff were amazing. Food amazing. We had two days there which we felt were needed. Spread the unique tours over 2 days instead of cramming and had time to drive round the main zoo. Expensive but worth every penny and not expensive considering inclusions and service. Thoroughly recommend. Note no wifi in lodges but there is in main guest house. A bit of a walk from car if you have a lot of luggage, not that convenient (we are older people)
- Amanda (10/5): - Amazing place to stay
- Jeannine (8/5): - Unique experience glamping with fabulous views of the savannah animals. Very comfortable accommodation.
- NienNu (8/5): - Worth of long drive
- Vivi (6/5): - The tours included with the zoofari was excellent. The staff were friendly, some were very knowledgeable others very inexperience. The worse part was the included dinner. The quality of the food for dinner was very poor. The kids menu was more palatable than the adult meals. Dinner was very inefficient, we had to wait a long time to get food, and dessert was missi
- Connie (10/5): - It was my second time staying here, I just love it such a fantastic experience, will be back again.
- Ben (10/5): - We had a great time at the Zoo, the children loved walking to the lookout several times a day and the staff we just so lovely and knowledgeable
- Matthew (10/5): Zoo trip - Amazing accommodation. Amazing staff. Amazing food.
- Robert (10/5): - Everything was lovely bar some minor cleanliness issues in the bathroom, other than that. Top notch
- Emma (10/5): Amazing stay - Amazing experience. Highly recommended to everyone well worth the money. Great accommodation and friendly staff. Wild animals literally roaming outside your rooms doesnt get any better
- Sheng (10/5): - The zoofari is super good for the kid. The evening and morning trips are super.
We took two days to enjoy the special trips twice.
- Tiffany (10/5): - What an amazing experience, staff were fantastic, tours were wonderful it really was worth every cent and more!!!
- Nida (8/5): - The tours are amazing. Special shout out to Helen and Kate for the amazing safaris.
Food was meh. Dinner was tiny portions of frozen food, our family was still hungry. And dessert was literally two spoons of a frozen cafe style dessert. They need to work on the meals, especially since it is announced as “chef prepared to order” food. Breakfast was much better. For the price I was expecting good meals.
Wouldn’t do it again
- Victoria (6/5): - Disappointing as this stay and whole experience used to be so much better. Food portions were so tiny, entree size and there's no way you can still try and call this an African Banquet. So many changes most definitely not for the better.
- Anthony (10/5): - The whole experience and activities were catered for, staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and food and service was excellent
- Donna (10/5): - We had a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent all our free time watching the animals from our deck. The tours were great and were an important aspect of the overall wonderful experience. The zoo was fantastic too and certainly not to be missed by anyone.
- Adam (10/5): Incredible stay. You won't regret a thing. - This exceeded all expectations. I was concerned upon booking that the actual experience and rooms might be overhyped or a bit silly, but everything was just incredible. One of my best stays in Australia by far. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. You were receiving 5 star treatment throughout. The rooms are stunning and nothing beats opening the curtains at sunrise to 3 zebra walking by your patio. I felt transported to Africa. You won't regret booking it. The Zoo itself is truly unmissable and we enjoyed two days exploring it by car and bicycle. The animals are superbly treated and have enormous enclosures. 5 stars.
- Gary Kuning (10/5): - How can you not like living in a luxurious tent in a wildlife refuse? Could only have been improved by willing away the rain.....
- ZONGTAO (10/5): - Amazing experience.
- Bill (10/5): Excellent stay with the animals - Absolutely amazing stay. Excellent view of zoo animals from room. Staff were friendly and went beyond excellent to make stay enjoyable.comfortable room with great views. Included activities were amazing and made a more enjoyable stay. Excellent meals included. Every one should do this trip at least once in their life
- Willington (10/5): - The rooms are very nice, the staff is very friendly. We really liked everything.
- Anthony (10/5): Wonderful safari based experience - Wonderful experience with very professional staff, accommodation is amazing. All meals fully catered and wonderful. Make sure you arrive at 2.00pm to make the most of your stay.
- Sharon (8/5): - Great night of accommodation, the only problem was the menu variety. The evening meal wasn’t very good.
- Helen (10/5): - Highly recommend Zoofari lodges, upon arrival a warm welcome with a swift check in process, then shown to our magnificent tents, with everything required for our two night stay. Stylish with cosy bedding, heating, tea coffee's, bath robes, hot showers, etc. Amazing meals in morning and evenings in an intimate african style restaurant. Well informed tours and oustanding customer relations made us feel very welcome and looked after. We will definitely be returning!
- Christine (10/5): - Excellent
- Jessie (10/5): - It was an amazing experience. Lovely animals, lovely people.
- Belinda (10/5): If I could give more than 10/10, I would! - This place is absolutely amazing and worth every cent!
Firstly, the staff are incredible - everyone was so nice, welcoming, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.
I had a medical episode and they checked in with me whilst in hospital (so lovely) then on our return, they had saved dinner for us, set us up by the fire in the Lodge to relax and unwind.
The food was delicious! African dishes with amazing flavours. It was great to get many small dishes to share so you could try so many things including crocodile and camel! The chef is accommodating with any allergies, requests etc. She also came out to make sure everyone was happy and answer any questions we had about the dishes.
Breakfast dishes were beautiful as well.
The grounds are great and you definitely feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere.
Our accommodation was gorgeous (we were in the Ostrich cabin) it was very private.
It was winter and extremely cold. Whilst the cabin had great heating, you still get cold drafts (because ultimately it’s a canvas tent) so take a few layers of clothing. :)
The tours were fun. The tour guides were so knowledgeable and you could see how well all the staff of the zoo get along.
I cannot rate this place high enough. I just wish I lived closer so I could visit again.
- Graeme and Laura (10/5): - Wonderful overnight stay at Zoofari Lodge. Food, tours, lodging were all amazing
- Lai Shan (10/5): - great to see the wild animals so close and the staff was friendly. the two tours included was a great experience.
- Cassandra (10/5): - Such a surprising amazing experience. Thought this would be good but it’s exceeded our expectations
- Hazel (8/5): - Room was beautiful and the animals were much closer than expected. Dinner was great and chef catered for my individual needs though i would have liked the option of sitting with others. Breakfast was quite disappointing - pancakes were cold and not accompanied by fresh fruit as was noted on menu - excuse that there were many children who chose pancakes really didnt sit well with me.
- Matt (10/5): - Had a lovely time at the zoo especially the accomodation, the amazing dinners, breakfasts & great tour hosts all up the family had a great time!
- David (10/5): - Different food options for dinner would have been better
- Cate (10/5): - Wonderful stay at Zoofari Lodge, Taronga Western Plains Zoo! Our stay exceeded our expectations. We loved being close to the Savannah animals grazing in front of our tent. The food is unique and superb and the staff friendly and helpful. The daily tours provided close up encounters with a number of animal species and staff were caring and knowledgeable! Highly recommend this stay and overall experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Incredible experience for the whole family - Amazing experience, can not recommend highly enough! The view from our patio of the animals was incredible - I have been on safari in Africa before, but this experience was just as incredible - and much easier with the kids in tow! The food was delicious, staff fantastic, and everyone we met so helpful and passionate about the work they do.
They only thing I would say is it would be amazing if families with younger children could nominate a slightly earlier time for dinner and the start of the nighttime safari (appreciate this may not be possible given things need to work most of all for the animals) but the nighttime safari kicking off at 8pm made it a little tricky for some of our younger attendees to attend :)
Overall though, incredible experience and one we will never forget! Thank you Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
- Stephanie (10/5): - We stayed in a lodge overlooking the Savannah and it was beautiful just to spend time watching the animals. The rooms were amazing and well kept, the guides were very knowledgeable. Grateful that such a place exists in NSW.
- Jessica (10/5): - What an experience!! I couldn’t rate this high enough. It was amazing - once in a lifetime. The staff are incredible and the tours mind blowing!!
- Connie (10/5): - It was just a wonderful experience, the accommodation, food and of course the animals.
The view was amazing!
- Fiona (10/5): - .
- Sarah (10/5): - Very good experience. love it
- Julie (10/5): - Everything was perfect and presented with detail. The room was spotless, the food was scrumptious, the staff offerred wonderful service. The lodge's location gave us direct view of the animals and the tours and information provided about the animals was fautless. Excellent!
- Jianjun (10/5): - It's super jida friendly and fabulous service and food. This is a definitely on of the best experience i have had
- Trish (10/5): - The whole experience was amazing. Our accomodation was perfect. Air conditioned & had everything we needed. The breakfast & dinner that was included was delicious & the meals were huge. The tours included were incredible & our tour guide absolutely made our trip. Cannot recommend this high enough to everyone.
- Samantha (10/5): - This night at the zoo was worth every cent! Such an amazing experience. I just wished i had booked more in advance to get the room out the front of the giraffe feeding buckets. We were at the back lodge but we were hardly in the room anyway. If you could afford 2 nights i would recommend staying 2 nights. Also the money goes towards the running of the zoo and their breeding programs. My 7 and 9 year old loved it so much as did we. The food was great too!
- Joseph (10/5): - Wonderful package of accommodation, food and especially behind the scenes activities at the zoo. These included feeding giraffe, seeing elephants having their morning bath and very informative talks about the zoo, the animals and the conservation activities of the zoo. On the face of it expensive for two nights, but all things considered very good value for money.
- Alison (10/5): - Amazing view of the savannah and animals. The best way to visit Dubbo Zoo!
- Shari (10/5): - Great view of African wildlife from animal view lodge with evening and morning tours.
- Youngsoon (10/5): - We loved loved to stay at Zoofari lodge. We can’t recommend enough to our friends. It made us unforgettable memories. Everything was just like the official website or more than we expected.
Strongly recommend to stay.
- Amelia (6/5): - No WiFi & my bed sheet was had a dirty mark on it.
- Claire and Richard (10/5): - Staff were kind, courteous and friendly. Facilities 5 star. Informative excursions and easy access. Highly recommended
- Monique (10/5): - This was an incredible experience, to go to sleep listening to the animals and quietly drink my morning cuppa watching the sunrise over the giraffes and other animals. The Glamping Lodge was extremely comfortable and I wish I’d had more time to enjoy the experience.
- Jo (10/5): - We had a wonderful time! Staff and facilities excellent! Will recommend to all! Great fun
- Gregory (10/5): - I loved it all there was so much to see i would recomment the Zoo.to anyone
