Guest Reviews
- Rhian (10/5): - Had a great time - nice and quiet and plenty to do near
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Felt secluded, right on the lake edge,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Good facilities. Nice walks. Close to Bunbury and Ferguson Valley.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The stairs were scarily steep (spiral staircase), although I understand why - there would be no room for them otherwise, but I have a phobia about steep stairs with no rise! The restaurant was lovely. The check-in and check out people were great. Coffees not refilled. No shampoo, hairdryer, which I expect. Very comfy firm bed. Very uncomfy couch! Lovely view of the lake. Firewood provided - we were able to have a roaring log fire. On the whole, good value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful setting and free firewood to keep the fire burning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very peaceful overlooking the lake, rustic appeal of cabin that suits the environment. The fireplace is large and warms the whole cabin.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice spot just showing it’s age also don’t book a 2 storey apartment if your not steady on your feet as the spiral staircase is extreme
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful self contained stay at lakeside Evedon. The apartment has a good kitchen, wood fire and nicely refurbished bathroom, with comfortable beds and pillows. Each apartment has its own oars and life vests to use at the kayaks. And it was great to be able to access the lovely walking trails. The only thing to note and it was not a big problem, but BYO shampoo/conditioner and hair dryer if you need one during your stay. The restaurant on site did nice wood fire pizzas and the staff are friend and accomodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great bush setting with a very relaxed atmosphere.
- Verified traveler (10/5): lakeside cabin stays - i have stayed here many times. every season it never fails to amaze me. simply the best experience, especially in the winter. Kudos to Tony and son Chris. welldone !
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved it wonderful stay.
It would have been great if the restaurant was open every night.
- Cadence (10/5): - Absolutely amazing place to stay and so Peaceful! Would highly recommend as a little place to go and relax
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good view. n relax Apartment not same some one comment as i seen in website as it bad but for me very room is good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A beautiful getaway - A beautiful place, well equipped. Nice getaway within 2 hours from Perth
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location. Quite rustic. Could probably do with a bit of an upgrade.
- Jodie (10/5): - Gorgeous peaceful location, friendly helpful staff, excellent chef and barmaids.... bushwalking tracks that were just challenging enough (and would have been great to ride on mountain bikes)
- Dianne (8/5): - A location for a quiet get away. Evedon is going through a few minor refurbishings. We found they have missed out on a few small things that can make a holiday more enjoyable. Tissues, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer and door or wall hooks in the bathroom would be a great improvement. There also seems to be a communication problem. We phoned ahead to enquire if we could order breakfasts. We were informed no, and no kettle or tea/ coffee making requirements were available in the accommodation. When we arrived we discovered that yes, we could order breakfast there and yes there was a kettle and tea and coffee provided in the accommodation. It could have saved us having to pack extras. The location is isolated so you cannot just go down the road to a cafe.
- Carla (8/5): Great family getaway - Wonderful location in the beautiful Ferguson Valley. Kayaks for use each day on the lake, but bring your own fishing rod. Great bush walking track from the property. Good facilities, and the apartments are well equipped, but they are old and dark and could do with a freshen up. Also not a fan of bedspreads, quilts would be much nicer. Overall a great stay though, we all loved it, thank you
- David (4/5): The Retreat that should Retire - On arriving at the property we were advised that there were no breakfast facilities, despite this being included in the Hotels..com advertisement. The Retreat is a very long way from anywhere to "go for brekfast". We were also advised that the fee for our stay had not been paid and that we could pay directly. The cost was substantially less than the cost we had already paid Hotels.com. The Cabin we stayed in was was very "tired" Kitchen cupboards looked extremely old and doors did not close. The floor had a significant slope. The way the Retreat is advertised (and priced!!) we expected something far more luxurious. At the end of the day it's best described as a cabin in the woods, with no additional facilities for guests (apart from a walk in the forest for which "signposts" were virtually non-existent).
We are extremely disappointed and would also expect a refund of the price difference from Hotels.com.
- Ann (10/5): - Beautiful relaxing cabin. Excellent location and surroundings. All staff friendly and very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location and perfect for family getaways - Friendly family operated business in the process of renovating several of the apartments during the Covid pandemic. Ideal setting for families to kayak on the dam, walk on the property trails and maybe even MTB as well in the future. We enjoyed having our own pot belly stove heater and the great views of distant Bunbury lights at night. Had everything we needed for a 2 night stay and waking up to view the trees through the roof window was lovely. The apartments are adjoining and noise does carry at times, particularly if young families staying. There are also cabins which would probably be a better option as they're separated. Perfect location for access to Bunbury, Wellington National Park, Collie etc etc. all within less than half hour drive in such a scenic environment.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was so quiet and peaceful. Kayaks available to use. Walking trail.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cute cabin on the lake, kayaks and fishing! Right amongst nature ❤️
The restaurant was great- amazing food! Chef Warren is a star. Great staff- so friendly and helpful. There is a grassy area for pizza night- music and outdoor games-can’t wait to go to that!
Great stay- better area than Margs.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The setting on the lake is lovely and sitting on the balcony was really nice in the evening. The pizza at the restaurant was also excellent. However, our apartment was a bit tired for the price we paid. On our second night someone lit a fire in the fire pit and the smoke came directly towards our apartment, which meant we could not use the balcony. As the evening progressed our apartment became very smokey even though we had all doors and windows closed. It turns out the unused ancient air conditioner was venting smoke into the apartment and there was nothing we could do to stop it. It really wasn't the best stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really lovely property although a bit tired. Everything you need in the kitchen and very clean overall.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful lake setting. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Great pizzas.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked the location overlooking lake.
The wood fire was great.
- Tam (8/5): - Beautiful scene and warm welcome from reception! Bathroom fan is too weak!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is amazing, the bush setting is beautul and very peaceful. The cabins are a little dated but quaint and clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - nice location cabins are very out dated bathroom has been upgraded
ceiling fan wasn't working and no tea towel provided to dry dishes
had to ask for fire lighters to lite the fire beds are quite hard to sleep on
otherwise very nice spot to stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very quiet bush retreat lovely setting, great friendly staff great history connections to Evedon UK ,food lovely. Appartments had everything we needed great fireplace for winter and outside fire pit and BBQ nice walks in the bush and close to Bunbury
- Glenn (10/5): - Cant believe how much fun we had..Chris the Manager was just amazzzzing, NOTHING was too hard for them, friendly, every facility one ever needs, peaceful and relaxing! Kids had a continuous blast and pretty keen to keep this one a secret :)...Chris!..we will be back! You got a bloody ripper place mate.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very peaceful place unless you have loud neighbors which i had for Christmas but other than that such a beautiful place would love to go back would be nice to have a fan on the 2nd floor for air circulation but thats no biggy
- conor (10/5): Perfect bush escape - We had the most magical stay at evoden bush retreat. The cabin was clean and tidy and we loved the fire place and outdoor fire pit. We will definitely come again. The kids loved the bush walks and kayaking on the lake.
- Tracy (8/5): More of a group stay - Lovely lake setting and very friendly staff. We stayed in an apartment which is more in the bush area of the resort. Pizza on a friday night on the restaurant balcony was very nice with a bottle of local wine. As there were only the 2 of us it felt like we were in the minority as it was mostly groups around us. This meant the noise level was a bit high and inside the rooms it seemed the walls were paper thin. To sit on our balcony area meant almost having to share the neighbours conversations. The room was neat and tidy and supplied with everything we needed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A great bush retreat on a lake - We were able to change our accommodation from two story to single story to avoid climbing stairs.
The lighting in the kitchen area needs an upgrade.
Fans in the rooms would be good.
Couldn't find a fish in the lake, but it was fun trying - the sunset was spectacular.
Was able to use the restaurant gas BBQ when the other portables were in use.
The Cabin was quiet, and comfortable and provided us good access to the Ferguson Valley - pity most wineries/breweries/ facilities were closed ( most things only open on weekends ???)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Peaceful - A very relaxing and peaceful place.
- Joanne (10/5): Great place to relax and unwind - Great place to get away and relax and unwind.
Whether to relax on the balcony over looking the lake with a nice beer or wine, going for a walk, swim or fishing.
You can also sit by the open fire pit (out of fire season that is.)
They have paddles and life jackets in the room if you want to go on one of their kyaks or boards.
The restaurant was lovely.
The room was great, nice and clean even had a wood fire place
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location However!!! - This Evedon is a great location to sit back and relax whether it be winter or summer, the rooms a big enough and the staff a very friendly and willing to help out. The down side is the rooms are looking very tied and could do with some TLC and a fresh coat of paint.
- Nicholas (10/5): Great place to unwind - Great place to take in the scenery and unwind for a long weekend. Off the beaten track yet close to wineries and places to eat including wine tasting and restaurant at the resort. My wife and I enjoyed a morning walk before breakfast around the lake and watching the sunset to close the day off either around the fire pit lake side or on the verandah with a good red listening to the evening chorus of wild life.
- Peter (10/5): Living in the country - Great view from our Balcony and pleasant walk around the lake.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Tired and not the cleanest but great location - Really tired and dated accommodation - locations beautiful and staff friendly but needed a thorough clean.
- Berin (10/5): Country Geat away - Very well set out and easy to find your way around has everything you need great price and location
- Verified traveler (8/5): Peaceful getaway - Beautifully situated hotel with lovely restaurant,
- Rosemary (6/5): - It was a lovely location, although the units were quite tired and needed some upgrades. The carpet had not been vacuumed and full of sand.
- Jill (10/5): A true retreat. Off the beaten track. - The buildings are very pleasing. The surrounding countryside is pretty, especially Ferguson Valley Road. It is essential to know that wineries and restaurants are closed early in the week. We had our own food with us and the kitchen in the chalet is very well equipped.
- Thomas A (10/5): Great country break - Great place for a country break. The views over the lake are fantastic.
- Elisabeth (6/5): Beautiful place - The rooms were lovely, well stocked kitchen nothing to complain about.
- Kathleen (8/5): As expected - great value and good location - We were pleased with the hotel and would stay there again. The outdoor fire pit outside our cabin was great, the view to the lake was peaceful and beautiful. The people there were so incredibly giving and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely views by the fire - Nice visit, peaceful spot be great for whole family, loved fire neighbors a bit noisy. Would try cabin next time great area and close getaway from Perth
