Guest Reviews
- Frances (8/5): - We arrived at 2am after a longhaul flight and the staff had emailed with instructions for key and access which was great. Note: there is no lift so you need to consider luggage if staying here.
The room could do with an upkeep, deep clean and repairs (no hot water in kitchen, tap falling off in shower, curtain track partially off wall and curtains jammed) but it was nothing that really impacted our stay as we were there to visit family.
The room overall was large and had full size kitchen though dishes were left out in drying rack in sink.
Towels only were refreshed during our stay and I do not believe the room was serviced at all.
This hotel could be fantastic place if some life was put back into it and rooms were properly maintained. It is in a great location with supermarket behind the premises, bakery and other stores across the road. The public transport - bus is right outside to take you into downtown Perth or up to Morley.
So as I said, it is a convenient place to stay it just needs some love and attention.
- hafiz aftab (10/5): - Friendly staff
- Tomislav (10/5): - Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Food was great. Will return in the future.
- Adrian (10/5): - great location, can get abit noisy as its right above a pub. id happily stay again tho
- Wendy (10/5): - Staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is an older establishment but kept its old world charm which is a highlight. Rooms were large and comfortable.
- Philip (10/5): - Had a great stay at the Civic Hotel. Very friendly staff and great pub meal also.
- Steven (10/5): - Check in until 10pm - convenient for travellers and the bar and kitchen open later than most.
- Philip (10/5): - I had a great stay at the Civic Hotel. Dinner in the pub was great too.
- Mark (6/5): - Room 6
Dead Bugs in the bathroom windows between glass and persplex. No dishwashing liquid or tea towels in the room to clean dishes and glassware used.
Shower head could be dropped down a couple of feet to enable a better shower experience
- barbara (8/5): - Quirky!
- Jacqui (8/5): - An oldie but a goodie. Good rates.
- Graham (10/5): - Convenient, parking, rate & full kitchen apartment
- Philip (10/5): - Had a great stay at the Civic and nice meal in the pub.
- Philip (10/5): - Great value, clean room and very helpful staff. Food at the pub is great also.
- joanne (2/5): - Karaoke all night directly under myself n my granddaughter...we leave 5am n waiting outside for uber n police pull up.. block uber to interrogate me in front of gdaughter.. because yur hotel..or peoples ther said WE wer to noisy in morning!!!
Skanky female opened her door wit a man behind her abusing me wen we leaving at 5am.. NOT NICE AT ALL... THEN POLICE STOP ME OUTSIDE!!
- Cameron (8/5): - Staff are friendly and efficient. Food options are overpriced for serving size. Comfortable flooring. Bathroom amenities provided are wonderful.
- Sion (10/5): - Quick professional check in clean big tidy room
- Chinmay (4/5): - The shower area not clean. AirCon not working and they didn't fix it nor changed our room even whn3 we had a booking for 2 nights. No reception - you have to walk all the way to the main bar for any assistance. No phone in the room.
Good thing was that the staff was cordial and helpful. Location is good.
- Vadim (10/5): Nice place - Clean, friendly staff. Bar downstairs. Good for the price. Close to the supermarket.
- Shelleen (2/5): - Going up the stairs felt unsafe,no reception, had to go to bar to see someone about the room , parking was limited, kitchen closed early, bathroom floor looked dirty, bed moved alot causing me and my husband nearly having falls, hard to get comfortable, air-conditioning wasn't working properly felt over heated, fan had no switch, air-conditioning remote wasn't working could not get temperature for us,room was hard to find very confusing,no one helped us with our bags and we had to bring it up and down stairs, bed constantly moving, stairs were steep
- Gabrielle (8/5): - As a solo female traveler, I feel there could have been a secondary lock on the door, e.g. chain lock etc for added safety and security when inside the room, as I had multiple people pull and try to open my door throughout the night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Would not recommend - This property is mainly a bar and nightlife venue with a handful of rooms above. Very noisy music and bar sounds until midnight. No true lobby or check in, just checking in at the bar. Room was dingy: bedding was clean, but the bathroom was not. Thin walls with noisy patrons in the adjoining room the next morning. Would not recommend.
- Susan (10/5): - Well presented room, good size
- Peter (2/5): - I was UNABLE TO USE THE ROOM AS THEY COULDN’T RETURN MY SECURITY BOND
- Philip (10/5): - Had a great stay at the Civic Hotel and good meal on site is a real bonus.
- Philip (10/5): - Had a great stay and being able to get a good meal on site is very nice. I’ll be coming back to the Civic Hotel.

- Christine (10/5): - Our favourite place to stay tocatch shows in Perth.
- Ashleigh (10/5): - 5 stars
- Sumit (2/5): - Location is good near shops and restaurants. Very noisy rooms due to bar downstairs. Was in room 5 where the split unit was noisy and disturbing all night.
- Peter (10/5): - Great service
- David (10/5): - Easy check in. Room was nice and big. Perfect and convenient for our short stay.
- Lakhveer Singh (10/5): - Awesome experience
- MICHAEL (6/5): - Good location friendly staff
- Tina (10/5): - Cozy, clean with large bedrooms. Great pub. Definitely worth a stay if you neeed to be in this area.
- Margot (6/5): - Comfortable beds and clean, however I was kept awake the first night due to noisy people in the room next door. It was convenient to where I had to be for the weekend. Lots of nice cafes/restaurants around.
- Kathryn (10/5): - Great vibe and lovely staff and very comfortable
- Helen (10/5): - Always good staying here
- Russell (8/5): - Its location to the shops
- Aurelia (8/5): - I found enjoyment in the building and it's interior as well as the staff, the check in was easy and it was effective
- Sumit (8/5): - Good room in a good area. Clean room. Noisy due to bar downstairs. Check in staff can be more welcoming and hospitable. Polite greeting and a smile never hurt anyone.
- Karen (10/5): - All good
- petr (8/5): nice place - Liked pud downstairs, theis food and beers amazing! And they close not too late to sleep upstairs ok:-)
- Kendall (6/5): - Just a little noisy late being over the pub. Communication was excellent from hotel. Place was very clean. Shower was very old but worked.
- Sophie (8/5): - The
- Brigette (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Civic Hotel over the weekend.(garlic prawn pizza OMG so good)The staff were helpful with any requests we had . I did however not like the fact that the shower hadnt been cleaned properly as i found long black hairs in the drain hole and a build up of dust along this that clearly havent been cleaned in a long time . The air conditioning unit on the balcony dripped and left a big pool of water .
- Desleigh (4/5): - Good location for our use. The room was very dated and carpet dirty, bed comfortable and clean. The noise from the Hotel was loud and didn't cease until 1am so very little sleep was had.
- Scott (10/5): - Great stay
- Torean (10/5): - Great place to stay would stay again
- Jerry (10/5): - The age of the property
- Lorraine (6/5): A good stop to recharge after a long flight - A large clean comfy room in an unremarkable area which served its purpose for a one night stay after a long flight in from uk. The balcony door wouldn’t close and after reporting it a staff member, I think he was called Tom, came up and fitted a brand new bolt. There is a lively pub under the rooms but you can’t hear the noise and there is a supermarket behind the hotel called Cole’s and Domino’s pizza across the way.
- CRAIG GRAHAM (10/5): - The property was outstanding value for money. An old school room above a quirky and unique pub. I'd stop there again any time
- Christopher (10/5): - Rooms very clean. Building a bit old but was expected
- Scott (8/5): - Stay here a lot
- Peter (8/5): - This is an old pub and popular local watering hole. Comfortable beds. No breakfast facilities but excellent cafe across the road. Do not expect 4 star arrangements, but good value.
- Daniel (8/5): - A
- Antony (10/5): - The staff and the hotel were top notch and couldn't help me enough.
- Antony (10/5): - The Civic Hotel and staff were top notch.
- Edwina (10/5): - I have the arpartment so it was great to be able to make meals if I wanted and lots of shops near by if I wanted to eat out. Could hear people and traffic as woul dbe expected with a room above a pub but I could not hear the music which was great.
- Kieran (8/5): - Price vs what you get for me was way above expectations. The staff who organised my check over the phone were super friendly and helpful. Didn’t meet Luna but she was a star.
It’s old style accomodation but old style that is also very cool and clean and I just thought it was excellent value.
- GARRY (10/5): - LOVED THE OLD SCHOOL LOOK ABOUT THE PLACE AND FRIENDLY STAFF I'VE ALL READY RECOMMEND IT TO FAMILY AN FRIENDS KIND REGARDS GARRY
- Lyall (10/5): - The only negative was the bedside lamps, mismatched shades to pedestal stopped the lights from working properly. Not really a problem to complain about.
- Tracey (10/5): - Beautiful old pub style accommodation, secure, clean place to stay. Staff very friendly
- s.a. (6/5): - the bathroom window has 2 pieces of glass that are separated to allow for ventilation.
but this also allows for noise to penetrates into the room, so into the bedroom.
the room is on the first floor overlooking a highway that does not go quiet. ..... so traffic noise is amplified into the room all night.
and i usually live in a quite country town, and am not use to this type of noise.
it was actually quieter outside in the beer garden, than it was in my room.
- Brendon (8/5): - Friendly bar staff (particularly Tom) on arrival. Clean and comfortable room, however TV remote control was not functioning (suspect dead batteries).
Overall, pretty good stay.
- Sumit (4/5): - Double bed is too small and not possible to use for 2 people.
- Kevin (8/5): - Helpful friendly staff except for the french 🇫🇷 barmaid who was arrogant and rude. Typical french. Jason the manager was very helpful. Nice location and restaurant food was good value. Perhaps offering teaspoons to stir coffee might be a good idea. French barmaid should not be working in hospitality. But a good staycation. Will definitely be back. Kevin
- gerard (10/5): - enjoyed stay garden needs water
- Jason (8/5): - The property was undergoing renovations at our time of stay so the lovely wide hallway had a musty smell. The room contained everything one needed for a hotel room, except a hair dryer. The bathroom was reasonable but mould patches needed to be cleaned. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
- Max (6/5): - The room was spacious and clean. The Hotel was sited in an area suitable for what we wanted whilst there. The staff were helpful & friendly but we were very disappointed at the fact that they overcharged to our credit card more than the cost quoted when booking the room. May I also add that since lodging a complaint, they have seen fit to refund the overcharged amount. We are now happy and if the need arises will use this facility again.

- Lena (10/5): - Staff friendly and hotel has a great atmosphere
- Michael (10/5): Great place - Room was nice. Good size with balcony. Cole’s supermarket and pharmacy just steps away. Liquor store right downstairs. Chine restaurant and Italian restaurant across the street. Chicken treat next door and dominos pizza on the opposite corner. Most anything you need a 2 minute walk. Also a bar and restaurant downstairs. Wasn’t noisy when we were there but I guess it could be. You actually check in at the bar. It is not fancy in looks but room was great. Good bed plenty of room. Decent sized refrigerator, good WiF, aircon and hot water.
- Lena (10/5): - Love the period architecture
- David (8/5): - Very clean room. Close to airport. Plenty of dining options and supermarket next door
- Meryl (8/5): - Convenient and good value.
- Keith (8/5): - This is a typical Aus pub/hotel with great staff good pub food sports and TAB,
A little tired as you would expect for its age and lacks few basic facilities/ items. Great value good location and parking, would stay again
- Christine (10/5): - Livw the old style decor and the friendly helpful bar staff.
- Paul (10/5): - Had the best room in the place was so cheap.
- Scott (10/5): - My home when I’m home
- Katherine (10/5): - Very affordable hotel in a great location. Easy check-in, huge room, comfortable bed and nice pub downstairs.
- Jeffery (10/5): - Surprised by the size and comfort of this accommodation based on the overnight stay price. Can’t fault it, would definitely stay again!
- Christine (10/5): - We love staying at the Civic. Home away from home. A very relaxing hotel with great staff and service.
- Scott (10/5): - .
- Catherine (10/5): - Plain studio with basics i needed
- Robert (8/5): - To me this was simply an "Accommodation/Single night stay"
1. Parking was available shared with a busy shop car park/through fare
2. Room is just that "A room" Old but clean & tidy with a soft comfortable bed, small night stand and lamp, TV, A.C., Clothes rack, fridge, water, Milk, kettle, Iron & Board, Mugs, Glasses, Microwave, usual sachets of Tea/Coffee/Sugar/Biscuits
3. Bathroom Old but clean and functional with Towels Shampoo & Soaps
4. Last but not least Staff & check in/out at the main bar were friendly knew what they were doing and helpful.
5. I had to leave early but I'm certain it would have been a comfortable night if I had stayed even being over an active Bar with the window closed the noise level was good.
- ellieflorence (4/5): Noise levels ruined our stay - We stayed for 6 nights in September 2024 and found our stay up and down. We stayed in room 6 and it was wonderfully spacious with a double bed, small double, two seater sofa and dining table fitting comfortably in the main room. We also had a kitchenette and separate bathroom. The kitchen was equipped with a plug-in hob, microwave and fridge-freezer. The bathroom was outdated and had chips and cracks however was clean enough. The biggest letdown of our stay was the noise levels on Friday and Saturday night, the Friday night especially. The bar next door (the milk bar) were playing music so loudly that the windows were shaking. This repeated the following night and was very frustrating as we didn’t get to sleep until much later than expected. I can imagine that if we had children the experience would have been even worse. This being said, the staff downstairs were more than happy to help with anything we needed and were super welcoming. *Note: there is no designated reception, you check in at the bar in the pub (we were walking round confused for a while!) Overall, if it weren’t for the noise levels I would stay again.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Handy to the city and good value for money
- Christoph (10/5): - Great value, close to airport
- Manoj (10/5): - Value for money.
- Nick (2/5): - Dirty sheets, dust everywhere and dirty dishes in the cupboard?I guess you get what you pay for
- Trent (10/5): - Very comfortable room and staff extremely helpful
- Diana (8/5): - 1940s building, but nice big clean room with en-suite and balcony. Very helpful bar manager. Good vibe in the bar. Close to all amenities with bus stop right out the front and plenty of off street parking. Great value for money
- Philip (10/5): - Had a great stay. Will be back.
- Craig (10/5): - Great that the bus 🚌 stops out the front & across the road, was able to get to the event really easy
- ANTON (4/5): - My bathroom in the room had two windows with permanently open vents,so while you shower you have an ice cold wind blowing through. This is unacceptable. Shocking.!
- Daniel (10/5): - Extremely clean hotel room, comfortable bed and pillows.
Great food at the restaurant and amazing staff.
- Michael (6/5): - Over night stay for work.
