Guest Reviews
- Henricus (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay. Customs house felt luxurious and was very spacious, with high ceilings) and comfortable to stay in with its old world charm. The breakfast basket was delicious and more than we could manage. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- Robert (10/5): We loved it. - We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful historic place. Emma was wonderful, the suite was spacious and comfortable and the history was interesting.
- Carol (10/5): - Fabulous building and great host.
- Robert (10/5): - The whole experience was wonderful and the location close to the beach and jetty was perfect
- Bernie (10/5): - A fabulous building and location
- Allison (10/5): - What an absolutely gorgeous property to stay in. We loved the history of the property combined with the comfortable and spotless accommodation. Our biggest regret was we only booked for one night as we could have stayed a few nights and explored all the fabulous sights in the area. I would highly recommend this property for families.
- Vicki (10/5): - Customs House is a grand European style building in an Aussie coastal town. The apartment has been renovated beautifully. It is located close to the eateries and a short drive to Mt Gambia.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay in Port MacDonnell. - A very comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. Would definitively stay there again.
Nice to stay in a building with such history.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Unique well appointed accommodation in an interesting historic building. Comfortable lounge area with gas fire. Upstairs bed separate from the rest of the rooms made for a good nights rest.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Helpful and friendly host. Bed was beautifully comfy, shower was warm and the dressing gowns were super- cozy. We especially enjoyed the fire place on the cold, wintery nights.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay it is a beautifully restored historic building however 1 bathroom & toilet in the same room was a little difficult at times and there was only 4 of us staying i can't imagine 6 people being able to cope with the lack of bathroom facilities
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fabulous location
Beautiful presentation of a significant historical building with all the mod cons

- Sean (10/5): - Arrived late after a long drive sightseeing from Apollo Bay. We were greeted by the very friendly, nice, and helpful owner - Grant who showed us our large, clean, nicely remodeled, historic building. We stayed in the Postman’s suite which had 3 large bedrooms, kitchenette, parlor, 1 bathroom, laundry, wood burning stove, and more. It is huge. Had an amazing dinner at The Barn that night, about 20 minutes away, then returned to our comfortable beds for a deep sleep. The heaters worked well to create toasty rooms, and we enjoyed a wood fire in the morning as we ate breakfast. If your looking for a standard hotel, this is not it. If you’re looking for a special experience with history, that is comfortable, and is well cared for, this is for you.
- Gregory (10/5): Maritime history experience - Imposing building with a sense of history - the former policeman's residence was very comfortable but fly screens might be required to keep those pesky mozzies away. The friendly owners were on hand to ensure everything was right. Well equipped to make a memorable stay. Lovely café/restaurant just a very short walk away. Definitely recommend visiting the maritime museum across the road and the site of the old lighthouse at Cape Northumberland towards sundown.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highest Quality accom. excellent beach location. - Host Emma was very friendly and made one feel most welcome. B&B in easy walking distance to eateries, drinkeries and beach. Very classy place !!
- Clive (8/5): Great Stay on the Coast after a long drive - Great hotel to use after or before Great Ocean Road trip.
- Hongyu (10/5): Really great stay - Include everything we wish as a hotel, really comfort bed and a huge lounge. Modern style kitchen and good brand cookware. No wifi, but who cares, we can see the sea through the window.
- Ash (10/5): Comfort at Customs House - The B&B was absolutely beautiful with hosts to match. The apartment we stayed in was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Fantastic views from all windows.
The second bedroom was set up to entertain the kids, a fantastic find and we'll be sure to bring the kids next time!
- Joan (8/5): - Facilities: Above average; Value: Acceptable price; Service: Friendly; Cleanliness: Delightful;
