Guest Reviews
- Lynn (10/5): Just fabulous . Will come back again soon. - Gorgeous location. Authentic heritage decor. Verandah and backyard perfect for unplugging and relaxing in tranquil atmosphere. Host was positively lovely. Seriously nothing.. It exceeded every expectation we had. Clean, comfortable, well maintained. Host paid attention to every detail.
- Sarann (10/5): Cosy getaway - Comfortable and cosy accommodation
- Rebecca (8/5): - Cosy, good sized cottage in a good location. Friendly and helpful owners. Kitchenette allows for basic meals and nice addition to have a stove in the living room for fires in the evening.
- jan (1/5): I think the b should be replaced with a p! - the location, the electiric single heating element, the wild life in the garden there were old cobwebs!
there was supposed to be breakfast - 2 bananas, milk, sm loaf, cereal dispenser, coffee/tea. thats it! nothing was replenished
The microwave didnt work as the central plate which turns the food had been replaced with a dinner plate!
i went to sit on one of the dining chairs and it virtually collapsed on me
on the verandah the wicker chairs had mismatched chair cushions and under them were the previous years leaves
there was a power cut for a few hours on our first night and not only was there no apology there was nothing. No checking on whether you were ok or not and the torch we eventually found didnt work!
- Leonie (9/5): Serenity with close proximity to Huonville - Nice quiet location and not far from Huonville to buy groceries and takeaways. Lots of nice drives in the Huon Valley and surrounding areas to fill in your days. Lounge room had a fireplace that was set up for easy lighting (which was needed as we were both inexperienced at doing this). Heated the room on the chilly evenings. Aircon in bedroom. Provisions for continental breakfast were ample. My partner appreciated the port, thank you. Nothing
- Jillian (9/5): Elegant comfortable apartment in beautiful garden - Beautifully and uniquely furnished loft apartment above historic house. Thoughtful supply of breakfast provisions. Delightful owner. Gorgeous little terrace to eat on and enjoy lovely rural views. Watch your head given steep sloping walls! Be aware there are quite steep outdoor steps up to apartment.
- Simpson (10/5): - Very cute suite with friendly host.
- Ellen (8/5): -
- michelle (9/5): Id love to go back - The bed was fantastic as was the location a little port was a terrific idea nothing
- kate (8/5): Stunning views and peaceful setting - Views and quiet. Gardens gorgeous too. Friendly host and lovely doggy Mo! We stayed 3 nights for our 25th wedding anniversary (around $800) which was known on booking. Bit disappointed no acknowledgement of this. We too host airbnb n wd have left a generous acknowledgement. (But even a freshly picked flower wd have been sweet.) Also not a fan of signage like "you break, you pay". Unnecessary. Finally, "breakfast provided " was ordinary sliced bread in commercial plastic bag, a few stale tea bags, crumbs of coffee and sugar, spread sachets and cereal...
- Grace (9/5): - Garry and Anna have created a beautiful oasis in the magical Huon Valley. On arriving, it is clear the effort and care that has been put into making sure every stay is comfortable and accommodated for. We also appreciated Garry and Anna’s effort in arranging the ‘Heritage’ for our last minute booking. It was lovely to come home every night of our stay to a clean, comfortable bed, wood fireplace that warmed the cozy living room- and a space that had everything we could need. The garden is glorious. A true home away from home for us- thank you for having us! Nothing to comment!
- Cara (8/5): -
- Fang (8/5): -
- Heather (10/5): - Garry our host was very welcoming. We nestled into The Loft for a couple of nights. What a delightful place for a bit of R & R. Peace and tranquility in very picturesque countryside and gardens. Kitchenette had all we needed for meal prep. Very comfy bed and linen etc. Close to local shops & restaurants and a great base to explore the Huon Valley. We look forward to our next visit.
- Meliza (10/5): Totally relaxing - Beautiful heritage property and gorgeous location Nothing
- Grant (9/5): - The location is excellent quite and very relaxing
- Linda (9/5): Quaint cottage in the beautiful Huon Valley - Stunning surrounds. Quaint homey cottage. Simple breakfast included.
- Melanie (9/5): -
- Liette (9/5): - Charming little unit at the back of a well maintained heritage house.
Beautiful country-side green views from the veranda, with enchanting sound of the nearby Crabtree Rivulet. At arrival in July, the place was quite cold.
(Though ample wood supply was provided for the fireplace, and the bedroom heater was efficient).
- Baker (10/5): We had a lovely stay and nice to be able to prepare a couple of home cooked dinners whilst away. - Charming rooms in a Cottage full of history. Beautiful view of the river. Loved the combustion burner (fire).
- Heather (7/5): It was good for the money paid. - Had a rustic charm. Nice view. Wildlife was lovely. Water was hot. Huonville is close and has good restaurants and it's not far from Tahune Adventures. Needs updating. Fireplace didn't really heat the space as it was a small slow burner. Breakfast was cereal and toast only.
- Sara (8/5): Very good - Very cute, historic. bit dusty
- Kerrie (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (9/5): Superb -
- Luke (6/5): Just ok - Stunning garden Very loud could hear people underneath arguing and snoring we where in the loft and was hard to walk around without making any noise bbq had cigarette buts and cob webs we are a couple that cook our own meals and can manage with just about anything but bbq was able to be used but still had equipment to cook our tea
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Russell (9/5): Exceptional and highly recommend. - Gary was a very hospitable host. The facilities and provisions were very good and the setting exceptional As we self catered the bench space was a little limited. Better lighting over the kitchenette work area would also be an asset.
- Bob (8/5): Very good - Warp stickers at the top handrail of steps at the Loft.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - The little extras of cereal, milk bread, small amount of alcohol, couple of chocolates.
It was historic, quiet, self-contained.
- Jane (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous heritage cottage, beautiful backdrop of the river and countryside from the verandah. Cosy, homely, milk and bread, we loved our stay A power board would be good. Being heritage there is not alot of Power Points
- Jenelle (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Everything we needed. Nice and restful. Didn't have enough time there. To explore the area more.
- Stephen (9/5): Best value stay in area. - Plenty of space .Peace and quiet.Fireplace a bonus. As was the port. Not far from a great bakery and major winery.Very good value and all the comforts supplied .Garden flowers. Nothing.... for us.
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Belinda (10/5): Exceptional - One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed in. Made to feel so welcome.
- Tina (8/5): Very good - Staying in the countryside was relaxing and quiet. Nothing
- Agafe (9/5): Quite place surrounded (neighbourhood) by vast fields of apples. - The place is well-maintained, clean and, spacious. Quiet and safe at night. If you're lucky you can find our dear friend wallaby during the night. Didn't realise breakfast included were cereals and weetbix, I was expecting toast and eggs however given that we don't normally do breakfast hence did not matter to us. I did like that there were coffee grounds to brew, that was great!
I wish there is a sensor light on the stairs to the loft. It can get really dark at night.
- Leanne (9/5): Superb -
- Petra (10/5): Great little stay. - It was a home away from home whilst we were working for a month. Very friendly owner. Great location. Was able to cook for ourselves with the equipment provided. Bed was very comfortable and the shower in the heritage suite was excellent. There was nothing to complain about really. The only thing I could say was that a broom or vacuum would have been useful.
- Philip (8/5): Sitting on the verandah with the sounds of the birds and the flowing river was a delight. - Plenty of room, peaceful and wondeful outlook on the verandah with sounds of the river, birds and wallabies. Floorboards were a bit wobbly and creaky. Breakfast was simple - perhaps some genuine Tasmainian produce would make it more special.
- Val (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Petra (9/5): Superb -
- Donella (10/5): A quaint cottage style house and garden. Just beautiful and peaceful. - A beautiful old home that has been renovated but keeping the tradition of the house and gardens present. Very welcoming and friendly hosts. We were in the loft and could hear the owners down stairs, not that they were noisy but we were very conscious of not making to much noise upstairs.
- Scott (10/5): Quaint and quiet - This is an historic property in a beautiful quiet location and we very much enjoyed our stay.
- Reynolds (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosanne (10/5): Exceptional - The property was a grist heritage building with very authentic interiors and furnishings. Rey pleasant spot near the river.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - The loft was quaint and cute, very comfortable. The location was lovely and quiet with a beautiful garden.
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lee (10/5): Wish it could have been longer - Beautiful place and very comfortable lovely scenery Nothing
- Jenny (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Thuy (9/5): Superb - Very warm welcome from the host 😀 beautiful place to stay, and a very comfortable stay for a couple of nights, surprise with port and chocolates when we arrive. Everything is therefore to use. Wish we stay longer. Thank you, beautiful gardens. Nothing, not like.
- Lee-anne (8/5): We enjoyed our stay at this historic home, it was comfortable and charming and well placed to explore the beautiful Huon - Historic house, beautiful gardens, friendly host Perhaps a little dark and lack of views out (but it was the Loft), and a bathtub you had to step into (only because I hadn’t factored in my elderly fathers mobility issues).
- Mckendry (8/5): Very good - Beautiful location, comfortable decor, great bed in master bedroom. The kitchen was great if you required no cooking, as the hot plate was a concern due to the location under the rafters very close to the ceiling.
Also, the bathroom shower is held up by duct tape.
- Craig (8/5): Very good -
- Carole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alison (10/5): Peaceful and comfortable and a nicely renovated old building. - Beautiful quaint and peaceful - Anna met us as we checked in and made us feel very welcome.
The loft is just gorgeous and comfortable and cosy and it was really lovely to have breakfast provisions on our arrival.
It’s only about 5 or so minutes to Huonville for everything you’d need and a minute drive to the Grove store for milk etc.
The area itself is really scenic and pretty.
Really enjoyed our stay there. Nothing.
- Clinton (5/5): Passable -
- Tarnya (9/5): This property is amazing. Easy check in, designated parking space, rural views, peace and quiet plus, all the comforts o - The property was clean, warm and inviting. The fireplace in the lounge room was lovely with plenty of dry wood to keep it going for our stay. Kitchen items were adequate and seating for eating meals. The bbq was clean and ready for use. Easy parking. Sitting outside on the verandah for morning coffee with the fresh air and listening to the water flowing in the stream beside the property will be a lasting memory. Nothing
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annie (10/5): We stayed at the loft for a weekend of relaxation and fun times, i hope to visit again. - The apartment was lovely, and the surrounding nature was calming for a nice get away.
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good -
- Kerry (7/5): Good -
- Margo (10/5): Relaxing in a beautiful setting in the Huan Valley. - Crabtree house was wonderful nestled in beautiful green trees and plants, the loft we were in was amazing there was nothing negative about this place, We are more than happy to recommend it. Nothing
- Rodney (9/5): Superb -
- Val (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed my overnight stay in a beautiful Heritage house. - What's not to like about a Heritage house, if you're into that sort of thing, which I am. The place was absolutely beautiful. The bedroom was large with good storage space and big comfy bed. The shower was great, good water pressure. The kitchen was well-appointed with a good continental breakfast. Sitting on the veranda in the evening with a drink was very relaxing and enjoyable. My partner and I sat down to watch a movie on Netflix. The couch was quite uncomfortable, to be honest.
- Henk (7/5): Good - Old charm, cozy fireplace, good location, friendly owner. It was quite dark, bed wasn’t very comfortable.
Breakfast pretty ordinary.
- Diana (8/5): Very good - Lovely house enjoyed our stay
- Raymond (10/5): Charming cottage in the Huon Valley. - Crabtree House is full of history and old-world charm. It is cosy and comfortable, complete with a fireplace, complimentary chocs and port.
It's only a 30 min drive back to Hobart, but you are right in the heart of the beautiful Huon Valley. We based here for several days to explore the area, including Bruny Island.
We highly recommend staying at Crabtree House.
- Geoff (7/5): Characterful building but requires some upgrades...... - The Heritage Suite - Ramshackle older colonial property full of character. Quiet and great location for exploring the Huon Valley and southern Tasmania. Dark and overgrown. Seen better days and needs some DIY to fix leaking sinks, mirrors to walls properly and outside growth cut back to let in light. Just a small two seater sofa to sit on. Cleanliness could be improved, all the essentials were clean but pots/pans and other less used items were not. Advertises breakfast but the amount left was not enough for an extended stay unless topped up but there was no indication this was going to happen.
- Isis (8/5): Delightful, very happy to stay again if lucky enough to return to Tassie. - Interesting helpful Mine Host. Generous supplies of all necessities. Lovely books & games. Historical house & great garden. Though out of town very easy to get into, also excellent bus services to Hobart - a day off driving! Minor challenge. As an older person a shower area rather than one over a bath to climb in would have suited me personally.
- Cheryl (9/5): Superb - Bedding and linen were pristine and very comfortable. Lots of kitchen utensils - well-stocked also with breakfast foods. BBQ outside and seating on the balcony for the loft were great for outdoor dinner and relaxing. Garry, our host, was very friendly and turned the AC on for us on warm days for us to have a nice cool room to come back to. The loft was thoughtfully decorated and it was very comfortable. Nil
- Sue (9/5): Suited me - Lovely old heritage home in the country, good location for me, nice touch of chocolate and port.
- Bruce (10/5): Relaxing, delightful, we restored the peace in our mind and hearts that we needed - Our loft accommodation at Crabtree House was just beautiful in a serene garden setting, away from crowds and noise yet close to all local drives and restaurants. There was nothing we didn’t like
- Marion (9/5): Superb -
- Smelly (10/5): Exceptional - Our favourite place out of all the stays we have had while in Tassie.. We spent two nights there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sitting in front of the open fire, with the Port and chocolates left for us to enjoy from the host was a lovely touch.
- Nicole (8/5): Very good - Lovely quaint accommodation well positioned for sightseeing a
- Adrian (10/5): Highly recommended - I was upgraded to The Loft - stunning accommodation
- Nathan (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Bugger (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raymond (8/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable stay, would definitely return and recommend to others. - Welcome from Garry, warm on arrival, lovely dog, very homely and beautiful setting. Good breakfast provisions and very accommodating allowing us to have friends for drinks. Low water pressure in the vanity tap. No hair shampoo
- V (9/5): Superb -
- Black (8/5): Lovely setting and beautifully appointed compared to bland settings. - Perhaps heating could be improved for people who come from the tropics! Otherwise loved our stay
- Lee (10/5): pure bliss. I can’t wait to come back - stunningly beautiful. easy to get to nothing I didn’t like
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Roy (8/5): A uniquely Tasmanian experience. - It was a unique experience. We loved the atmosphere of the accommodation. Location was great. Much thought had clearly been devoted to the design and layout of the accommodation. The air conditioner did not adequately heat the main room. It may need servicing.
- Gary (10/5): Tranquil - Thank you Garry we had a wonderful time great place to stay So convenient to travel around the area and have a wonderful place to come home to
- Leanne (8/5): Very good -
- Cathy (9/5): Superb -
- Joanne (10/5): Great country stay with lots of charm and comforts - The old world charm and the friendly host. The port and chocolates on arrival fabulous touch.
- Jean (7/5): Good - The privacy of the verandah area, sounds of nature. The rooms were quite dark, with dim lighting. I found the bed a bit uncomfortable. Kitchen area cramped.
- David (10/5): Thank you for making us feel welcome on our arrival in Tasmania, our stay did not disappoint. - Idilic location, and lovely home to stay at. Beautiful scenery, quiet setting allowed, for an undisturbed time to relax.
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dunia (7/5): Beautiful property close to river - Spacious accommodation. Electric blankets were great. Bathroom was gigantic and had fabulous rain style shower head over bathtub. Beautiful garden with many roses. Mountain River just next door. Also close to a Cherry orchard which had fabulous raspberries and an apple shack. Quite a lot of critters- keep things in the fridge to avoid having ants
- Loretta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phil (9/5): Tranquil rural setting still close enough to enjoy Huon Valley attractions. - Beautiful old rural estate nestled between two rivers. Loft apartment best suited to a family (2 adults - 2 children)
