Guest Reviews
- Barrie (2/5): - This booking was cancelled as the property has been sold. However they did recommend another place for us which we are thankful.
- Igor (10/5): - We liked the style
- Hayley (8/5): - Lovely B&B in the middle of town. Appreciated that you had options for breakfast and that there was no set time - what you ordered was in the breakfast room fridge and your room table. The sitting room and breakfast room were very cold, there is a heater you can use, supposedly is on a timer but that didn't seem to be working while we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in Ross.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property was good value.
It had a double bed and 2 singles and was very clean.
The main downside was no where to really eat.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We stayed in retreat this did not have breakfast facilities. It was a called garden retreat. No seating in garden. Cane chairs in room for sitting we uncomfortable. Should have been club lounge chairs or 2 seater couch.
- Mark (10/5): Great little spot - The property was excellent and the service top notch.
Lovely room and breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cosy and quaint, quiet and homely. Location was great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay. Highly recommended. Love Ross.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful quaint place with lots of charm. Loved our stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean, comfortable accommodation, with parking and across road from bakery. Easy check in and out. Good selection of breakfast options.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Definitely worth a visit. Perfect hosts and very close to town centre.
- Nicola (8/5): - Nice cosy and clean place opposite the village bakery.
- Bear (6/5): - Quite good.Little cramped but clean and functional.
- jenny (6/5): - It was clean and nice room but not the one that was advertised to be getting and no breakfast which I thought that was what you got with bed and breakfast and given no wifi password to connect
- Stephen (4/5): Would not recommend - Never saw anyone during our stay first B&B we have staying in that we had to make our own breakfast
- Juie (10/5): Lovely B B - Lovely comfortable B & B In a beautiful part of Tasmania. All the mod cons without losing any of the old world charm of a old home.
- David (8/5): Lovely Colonial Accommodation - Unable to give an honest rating for the staff as we didn't meet them. When we arrived, the key to our room was in an envelope in reception (trusting people in Ross). The room was comfortable but the ensuite was a bit squeezy for a tall person. The breakfast arrangements (self serve) were easy to understand and the comlimentry port and after dinner mints appreciated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely place in a picturesque setting. Old charm - Old charm with modern conveniences. A pleasurable stay
- Verified traveler (4/5): Bed mattress bed and chairs. Breakfast. - Mattress very firm, recommend option electric blanket Y/N. 4 poster bed noisy every time you moved. Chairs uncomfortable. Breakfast only decaf tea, very basic 5/10.
- Robert (10/5): great cottage in a quaint town - Easy to book, everything ready and enjoyable , in the middle of the town
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A like home feeling; Thanks for the memories. Found it a bit impersonal
- Bee (6/5): Full of Character- restored historic and quiet - We were the only people staying in the house, although there are several rooms available. We were in a front room facing the street, called the Music Room. This is a historic house so our modern concept of comfort had to be adjusted a little. The room was furnished in 19th century style and a bit crowded with quite a small bathroom squeezed in but it was comfortable and we slept well. I would recommend insect screening or security screening on the windows as the room was a bit too stuffy and I was reluctant to leave the window open while we slept. The breakfast room was sunny and pleasant and there was complimentary port in the small communal lounge with lots of interesting historic magazines to look at. The continental breakfast was a bit disappointing so we ate across the road at the bakery. Check in was a bit surreal as you go into the office and lift a phone receiver, which redirects to talk to the owner who could be in another town.
- Mandy (10/5): Lovely, spacious and comfortable B & B - A peaceful, quiet little B & B in the quaint town of Ross. Lots of room to move, pleasant garden. Nice breakfast offered.
- Hugh (6/5): - Ideal place to explore historic Ross but we do prefer when the property operator is on site, particularly for breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Comfortable stay in a charming colonial cottage - We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and could not find the owner. We managed to find the key in an envelope and a note. Apart from that we had a pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved it! Would stay again - Very happy with the room, the decorations, everything was perfect. Loved Ross what a beautiful town, well worth a visit, would go again in a heartbeat.
- Roger (4/5): Not really as described. - I was promised two bedroom accommodation what I got was one bedroom plus a living room with a bed that could be closed off with a sliding door. Was clean and tidy but seems expensive for this type of accommodation in rural Tasmania esp as it had no character. No sign of the proprietors who left a kay and instructions on the door.
- Noelene (10/5): Lovely comfy and homely - Beautiful room in beautiful Ross. Everything about it was lovely especially the breakfast in the lovely conversatory.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay in the middle of town - Nice and comfy stay. Not a lot of space, though.
When we entered the property, we saw 2 rooms, and weren't sure if the other room would be occupied and whether we would be sharing the bathroom. Will be good to have this info when the booking was confirmed.
- Jacqui (8/5): Nice and central to the whole town. - Ross is a lovely old world town and the Ross B&B is in the middle of it all.
- AR-F (10/5): Magnificent Cottage house accommodation experience - This lovely little cottage was a delightful experience, and is fitted out in keeping with the decor and furnishings of early English-Australian design, and accompanied with tasteful and modern bathroom facilities off the sleeping area; everything you need is provided. The room itself is beautifully appointed with a great deal of attention to detail to make the travelling experience just wonderful. For example, a four poster bed, and a magnificent bay window which overlooks the front garden onto Church Street. We met other travellers in the breakfast dining room and we all enjoyed a generous continental breakfast in keeping with the style of accommodation. A comfortable lounge room invites travellers to rest up and relax for a while. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Quaint cottage in quiet area - Felt like being in 1900 s era nice self serve breakfast
- someone (6/5): Nice b&b in an old house - Ross has to offer to tourists.
This b&b was good overall.
It's a old house. You get a room plus bathroom. If you pay for breakfast you get one.
- Irene (8/5): Not a very happy experience - I was really disappointed because I was told that no breakfast would be provided even though breakfast was advertised. The owner said that the room I booked came with no breakfast because it was the Garden Room and we could not have access to the rest of the house as well. None of this information was provided on the site. The owner was pleasant but made no attempt to provide us with a breakfast after being advised. I also fell out of the door when leaving the room and grazed my arm as the board I stood on moved causing me to loose my balance.
- Paddy (4/5): Gardener's Retreat- No wonder! - We were very disappointed by this room. We knew it was unhosted but turned up past the check in time only to find the cleaner still there. Then the sitting area where the tiny TV was had two old cane chairs ( not comfy) this area could not be called a room it was so small. about the size of an entryway in a modern brick house. The main bedroom was OK except for the electric heater thermostat rattling all night. This room is tucked away at the back of an old house in an area that would most likely have been an old laundry and looks out only onto a wall of an old tin garage on one side and very overgrown vegetation in what once no doubt was a garden before the gardener retreated. To the owners. This could be much better if the spare bedroom ( soldier's retreat?) was converted into a lounge with a decent TV and you spent some time and money there actually establishing a garden.
- tanya (8/5): - Very clean and tidy. Lovely cottage to stay in. Will definitely be back
- Verified traveler (6/5): Lovely location but be prepared - This was a lovely old B&B. We booked in for this weekend to see the Picnic at Ross on the Sunday (Vintage cars from across Tasmania). We were very surprised that so the majority of the local shops (of which there aren't many) in most midland towns either weren't open or closed at 4pm-5pm, so be prepared to have a very early dinner in most of these small midland areas of Tasmania in winter. The host was very friendly but does not live on site. Our room was comfortable and had sufficient facilities for our needs, except for the chairs for the very small television/lounge area in our own room. The rooms were heated by wall heaters and thankfully bed had a good electric blanket. Free wifi was provided which was appreciated. On reflection of the facilities in the area, the charge for the two nights was exorbitant. I guess we were paying extra for the Picnic at Ross weekend, but now see the overnight charge is a more reasonable rate.
