Guest Reviews
- Judy (10/5): - Excellent location absolutely beautiful Nothing
- Martin (9/5): I highly recommend u - It was quiet, which I appreciated after a long exhausting flight. It is an historic building in an historic town. The host was very accommodating to my late arrival. Turning the shower on, off was tricky as it has two independent taps.
- Keth (10/5): -
- RyLee (9/5): - The laid back comfortable nature of Richmond. If you want nightlife and crowds and shopping go to Hobart. If you want peace and quiet and wildlife viewing and convict history and numerous vineyards and wine cellars stay in Richmond. We weren't in town during the opening hours for the Poo Museum so we missed out on being able to go into the museum and get the straight s#&t on poo! But we have a good reason to come back and we intend to.
- James (10/5): Great spot, friendly host and clean and tidy room. - Location, host and cleanliness Nothing
- John (9/5): very pleasant stay in a cute, well appointed cottage and excellent value in a great location - Esthner Cottage was roomy, well appointed and comfortable. Just a few minutes level walk from the centre of Richmond which made location excellent. Everything we needed was there and host was very pleasant and helpful while being completely unobtrusive. We would have liked the cottage's outdoor furniture on the deck facing the completely private garden as opposed to facing the walk through area but this is a very minor feedback comment and detracted little from a very pleasant stay.
- Vicki (9/5): Clean, quiet tidy place very suitable to unwind, easy walk to shops and coffee - We had our own breakfast but tea, coffee and milk were supplied Washing facilities as we stayed for aa week but host offered the use of her laundry and there was a laundamat in near by Sorell.
- Kylie (10/5): Beautiful few nights to celebrate our 34 anniversary and property and facilities - Very clean and products use where environmentally friendly
Beautiful kept gardens, easy walk into town and site seeing Nothing at all perfect for my hubby and I

Tim tams always a nice treat 😃good security for private parking friendly host . Room was clean and well appointed Would of liked an extra PowerPoint for plugging in computer 😃
- Natasha (10/5): Great stay! Perfect location! Great hosts! Will definitely be back. - The property was beautiful and very central to Richmond. Hosts were lovely and were quick to answer questions. The house had everything we needed. Noisy toilet but didn’t bother us too much. Easy fix.

- Glenn (9/5): Quiet comfortable setting, easy drive to Hobart in historical village. - Located in Richmond a charming, historic Georgian village near Hobart, famous for its well-preserved colonial architecture, convict history, Australia's oldest bridge (Richmond Bridge), and being a hub for the Coal River Valley wine region. Clean, tidy accommodation with basic kitchen and easy free parking. Nothing to mention
- Mahesh (9/5): - I like the host and environment around
- Jane (9/5): A cute little cottage in a great location! - Great location, just off the main street in Richmond. Very quiet location but so close to everything. Clean and tidy with space to spread out without being on top of each other. Outdoor seating spaces in the lovely garden. Large, well appointed bathroom. Simone, the host was very helpful and obliging. Highly recommend!! nothing
- Anthena (7/5): Gorgeous little studio apartment in a beautiful little town. Walking distance to everything in beautiful Richmond. - Great location. So quiet and has everything needed for comfortable stay. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Triana (10/5): Excellent - Allround, very comfortable .

A perfect getaway. Nothing to criticise.

Cosy studio cottage with everything needed for a short stay.
- Paula (8/5): A great little cottage with homely amenities and creature comforts, situated in a cute little town. - The location was excellent to quickly walk into town and to cafes and restaurants. The beds had electric blankets and enough warm bedding. The mattress was a little too firm for my liking.
- Corina (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was exceptional
- Tracy (10/5): Would seat again if we pas through - Our host had filled the property with many lovely little touches making it feel welcoming and homely .
I lived the French doors which opened onto a sunny patio, plus the other seating areas around the property.
Kitchen was really well equipped despite being s very small space. Bed super comfy. Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Chill out - Close to everything. Little touches such as real milk in the fridge, TimTam biscuits, plunger coffee. Nothing. WIFI touchy but heck who needs it in a place like this.
- Lynne (9/5): Fabulous - maybe it's time for a very deep clean - soft furnishings like curtains, pillow protectors - Breakfast N/A. Very comfortable and private. The accommodation smelt a bit stale - like unwashed upholstery/bedding.
- Kathryne (10/5): Fantastic - Was a beautiful place to stay There’s nothing I can complain about
- Cheryl (9/5): Superb - Simone was exceptional, extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. 2nd time staying at The Barracks and highly recommend it.
Location to everything was in walking distance to everything in this lovely village.
- James (10/5): Wonderful experience. We would recommend to family and friends. - Very comfortable with good parking provided. Good kitchen facilities and very comfortable beds. Very good bathroom facilities. Close to excellent shopping and dining options. Great outside surrounds.
- Christine (10/5): - No negative report at all. Excellent facilities and hostess.
- Stef (2/5): Very poor - Location was good, The cleanliness of the place was poor, unclean crockery. Filthy mouldy hairdryer, bathroom exhaust fan was full of dust, even behind bulbs, could cause fire. Mouldy mat left in shower. Over sink light stuck together with sticky tape. The lounge suites and double mattress were well past use by date and very uncomfortable. Hole in the ceiling! tv was very small , unclear and very bad volume. Very disappointed as we've stayed at the Barracks many times before.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Lovely well maintained cottage. Would stay again - Cute little place suitable for a short stay! There was no oven as stated in the description and the stove was a one burner stove top. Made it hard to cook. Had to use the microwave for everything.

- Joanna (10/5): wonderful place, definitely recommend to stay! - it is located in a nice little village, the houses are very cozy, clean and definitely fits the whole atmosphere of rural richmond it’s a bit far so you need a car to be able to get around
- Luke (8/5): Very good -
- Laurel (8/5): I would stay there again. - The room was a little small but well set out so it worked well. It was very well appointed with all the little things there that we needed, salt, pepper, dishwashing liquid, tea, coffee etc. There was adequate hanging and shelving space for our clothes. It was very clean and the garden area was very neat and well looked after.
It was just a few minutes walk to Bridge St where there were lots of lovely shops, cafes and restaurants and of course the famous Richmond Bridge. The internet was very poor.

Everything else was there that we needed for our 4 night stay. The only thing I didn't like was the green light in the Smoke alarm, right above the bed which shone all night, it was quite disturbing, and disrupting my sleep. otherwise everything was great.
