Guest Reviews
- Robyn (6/5): - The building is old and dated, there was a broken electrical connection with exposed wires. The armrest of the couch was covered in dried up food that should have been removed when it was still moist, it looked like a toddler had eaten Weetbix or soggy toast on it. The TV was hard to use as could only find a small range of channels.
- Sara (2/5): Overpriced rundown dilapidated Accommodation - Staff were not welcoming when they realised i was travelling with my Assistance Dog. The room was really overpriced, run-down, leaking toilet fittings with water constantly on the toilet floor, very dark, no windows, horrible uncomfortable bedding. On top of the exorbitant cost of the room they took $200 from my account as a safety deposit and i had to call and harass them to fet it back days later when they had promised it would be returned the mirning after my stay.
I will definitely not stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - The secure parking a plus
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Rooms could do with facelift. Paid $270 for 1 night and breakfast at onsite restaurant not included, advised that would be charged extra (other hotel in town includes breakfast at that price). Easy walking distance to South Hedland shopping centre. Free on-site parking behind fence that is locked between 9pm-5am makes it feel secure.
- David and Michelle (4/5): Disappointing - The room was very old, in real need of maintenance and a bit of TLC. While we were checking in the female Manager was very rude to the other front of house staff which we found unnecessary and embarrassing. On the bright side all other staff we had interactions with were pleasant and helpful. The pool was nothing like the pictures and was in need of a good clean as were all of the grounds.
- Kieran (10/5): Great - Easy access to town and good food
Ideal for overnight
- june (8/5): easy access - comfortable - restaurant service lovely
- Huge (6/5): - Room was comfortable and what I’ve come to expect from small town accommodation so my expectations were pretty low going in. The main issue was that there was no hot water to shower at 05:00 Which was extremely annoying.
- Gregory (6/5): omfortable but dated - Comfortable motel that served its purpose. It is a little dated bu the bed was comfortable. Needs to possibly have a surface spray to contain the small bugs that occasionally crawl across the floor.
- Gregory (6/5): Adequate, clean but buggy - The Lodge Motel was adequate for our Business trip. The motel room was clean, the staff friendly. The room is a little dark due to security shutters on the windows. It is a basic motel though but it suited the purpose. One improvement could be that a surface insect spray could be used as there is a few small bugs crawling on the floor.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room service very poor and they dont work on Sundays. The motel is very over priced old and matress needs replacing and furniture needs binning . The restaurant was very good and the pool was lovely
- Andrea (10/5): Lovely staff! - I wanted somewhere with a self-contained laundry, this was the only place in Port/South Hedland I could find.
I was unsure about staying in South Hedland as I thought Port Hedland was the 'main' area. No need to worry - South Hedland has as much to offer as Port Hedland.
The family room contained laundry and kitchen facilities (Only used the kitchen for coffee making etc. - both nights we had the buffet at the restaurant). The room also had a small 'loungeroom' area, bathroom (including the washing facilities), and a double bed. A bunk bed (sleeping 3) was in a separate area to the double bed.
A small shopping area is a few minutes walk away.
Secure parking.
The staff were lovely.
The restaurant had very generous meals.
Highly recommend if you have to come to Port Hedland.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bed was 30 years old, the shower head was blocked. There were small cockroaches in the room. Do not go there.
- John (8/5): A traveller in W.A - Stayed for three nights whilst visiting the area. Room was quite adequate for what we needed and was in walking distance of shops and eateries. Also had its own dining room with buffet diner available which was good. Would stay there again again and recommend to others. Staff were also helpful
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Property has a pool which is great. Door handle fell of after 5 mins of stay but quickly fixed. Inside the room is fairly clean but need a bigger bin, paper and pen for guests and a facial tissue as well. The staffs din’t know how to smile they are all serious particularly the lady in the restaurant she’s like playing poker with a sad face.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Always a good overnight stop & I like the secure parking
- Fred (8/5): - Good value for money I said good value for money I said good value for money
- Rose (6/5): Comfortable enough but nothing special. - Nice buffet meal in restaurant. Pleasant people.
Was not where we expected it to be as it was in South Hedland which was quite a distance from main Port area.
- margaret (10/5): Loved everything - Very happy to have stayed here. The staff and service was very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again. The restaurant was very clean and the food was yummy.
- kay (8/5): Clean tidy room, bit dated but otherwise fine for - Arrived early...like 3 hours early...my room was ready..friendly staff..smooth checkin process..
Room was clean and had everything i needed...was unable to connect my usb hard drive to the tv...to watch my movies...
- Stan (8/5): Average - Room is dated and doesn't smell fresh. A/C unit very noisy. Restaurant food left a bit to be desired, which was disappointing for the price. Unfortunately there is not much accommodation choice in this town.
- Kechina (8/5): - Great customer service with amazing staff!!!
Comfortable rooms and safe complex!
Then lodge is my home away from home when I'm in town!
- Andrew (6/5): Convenient location. - Satisfactory, low occupancy so no lodge facililities at time of stay. Air conditioning was very poor. Room was hot most of the evening.
- Eric (6/5): - The rooms are quite a bit dated and beds with wheels on a linoleum surface are not ideal!
It would appear that the kitchen/restaurant is sub-let and run by less than very friendly and welcoming people. They are extremely functional but not what you'd call "hospitality" people, it's more about the money by their attitude! The food was average although the price was reasonable!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very well organized rooms with all poss comforts l - Enjoyed pool and wifi and gym and tv stations and films. Just pleasant stay
- Traveller (4/5): Interesting - We stayed here for 2 nights. This motel was interesting. Upon first inspection, it looked clean enough. However, sitting on the couch I was overwhelmed by some ungodly stench. Further examination revealed the couch to the source of the scent and my gosh, it was filthy. Smelt like an animal had died in it. Literally could not sit on it. My husband called me a sook but admitted an hour later that it was awful.
The bed linen was stained. Pretty sure it was freshly laundered but come on people - you're allegedly a 4 star motel. Splurge on some new sheets that don't have yellow stains on them!
The final straw was the bathroom. Dirty mirror, dirty shower screen, and dirty loo.
On the positive side - the location is great, good security measures, and the staff were mostly pleasant to deal with. BYO couch cover, linen (or sleeping bag) and bathroom cleaner and you should be ok.
It's a shame really - I can see that this place would have been well maintained during the height of the mining boom. The boom is over and the effects of this are present wherever you turn in this area. Lots of empty shops and buildings that have fallen into disrepair.
- Verified traveler (8/5): South hedland the lodge. - Great hotel in a really central location. Very clean excellent laundry facilities and shops across the road. I would have called it 3.5 though it wss very basic and the pool must be the coldest in the southern hemisphere. I think i got one foot in before i thought i had jumped into the water off the titanic. I know its hot in summer guys but you need a heated pool in winter. Buy some solar panels and heated doesn't cost that much.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Too Pricey for what you get - We paid too much for this hotel. No in room wi-fi, small quarters, noisy air conditioning, pool is too shaded. They do lock the gates at night to keep unwanted visitors from coming in and banging on your doors or messing with your vehicles, but we could still hear them out on the street mucking about. We paid half the price quoted here for a much nicer place in Perth, and probably 75% of the price in the next town over.
I understand availability and supply and demand, but in an economic downturn/recession, this hotel is simply overpriced for what's available. Recommend staying right in Port Hedland (this is South Hedland) or pushing on to Karratha or Broome (neighboring towns).
We were doing a road trip and chose this as a stop off. Really felt kinda poorly for choosing this spot for the price, it just wasn't what we'd encountered at all our other stops on the way up from Perth.
- leigh (6/5): Handy to shops - Staff good. Wifi not in rooms but by the pool. Comfortable room. Not far from airport
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent - Simple and decent. Room was a little dirty but suited our needs.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It's a Motel.... - Friendly, clean, but basic - it's a motel after all :)
- holly (8/5): Standard rooms - Rooms were the standard pilbara style. Really comfortable beds, restaurant was more like a wet mess at a mine site and judging by the price, thats who they cater for mainly. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Really lovely
