The way they lean into the building’s history is brilliant, and the staff actually know their stuff—they aren’t just reading from a script. Whether you’re asking about the hotel’s past, the weather forecast, where to grab a bike, or the best dinner spots for those tricky Sunday and Monday nights, they have an answer for everything. Staying there honestly feels like being wrapped in a warm blanket of hospitality. The bed was so comfortable, the shower was perfect, and I was especially obsessed with the amenities—the scent of their bath products is just incredible! We actually live right here in New Plymouth, but we’d book a stay at Nice Hotel just for the atmosphere. It’s wild that we can feel like we’re on a total vacation and completely wind down while being only a five-minute drive from our own front door. Nothing

- mark (3/5): Terrible would not stay at this place again - Put in room that was road side so noisy . Back on to kitchen noisy paid way to much for this room should not be a room they use have to walk thru dining room would not recommend had they been up front about room would have never stayed .

We made a last minute reservation (around 5pm) therefore we were unable to eat at the restaurant on the evening we arrived, and we were unable to have breakfast the following morning as no chef had been arranged. We had read online that the rooms were very quiet had soundproofing - this was not true and we were glad we had brought earplugs. It is quite close to the road and the traffic was noisy. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay.

- Lin (9/5): A beautifully decorated boutique hotel located in the heart of New Plymouth - The décor was absolutely stunning. It felt like staying in a European home. Terry and his team were warm and easygoing. My room was spacious and had everything I needed for a comfortable 3 day stay: a kitchenette, tableware, and a bathtub perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking. I also enjoyed a drink in the beautiful garden while reading in the afternoon. A big plus — The Table restaurant at the hotel is one of the best in New Plymouth. If I had to mention one thing — my ground floor room had beautiful windows, but I couldn’t open it( not sure if they were meant to open). I do like a bit of fresh air each day.

They understood when family joined me for the remainder of my stay, providing extra bedding at no extra costs. The onsite restaurant served quality kai in a beautiful setting. It is a great location and close to Pukekura and CBD. The mini fridge placed inside the wardrobe was warm to touch. I suggest relocating to beneath the bench.

On second day no electricity from 08.45 until 16.10.

- Margaret (8/5): Loved stay - would consider again - especially when allows our dog to stay with us - Loved the decor of the room, and really cool how they've modernised an old house to split into 4 separate units. Everything we needed in a unit. And nice transition between front of house through the garden area/restaurant to back units. Quite noisy at nights with racing cars, sirens etc. but to be expected with the location so central to the centre of the city. So happy to compromise quietness in this case. The room was very hot, so either had to shut verandah doors (which we loved being open with the large bi-fold doors) in order to cool the room down, or have it hot with the doors open. The high walls on the verandah stop the air-flow and breeze coming into the room
