• Melanie (7/5): Good value for money, downstairs room was quite dark - Good value for money for the queen suite. Very large suite with separate bedroom and big, new bathroom. We didn't use it but the pool looked good. We only saw the staff when we checked in and he seemed nice. Location is within walking distance of the centre including shops, restaurants and the mall. Very clean, including the small kitchen area. Bed was comfortable. The room was downstairs and was quite dark. It was fine for a few nights but it's not inviting if you needed to stay longer and spend much time there. Conversely the light outside for the parking area was right outside the bedroom and bathroom and lit them up all night. There are thick curtains in the bedroom but it was still quite light, and we had to close the bathroom door to cut out the light coming in there. If light is a problem for you, take an eye mask. An extra electricity outlet in the bedroom would be handy so both sides of the bed could use their phones for night clocks.

• Franciane (10/5): The best motel I’ve stayed at in Mackay — friendly staff and spotless room. - I stayed for a week at Shakespeare Motel and absolutely loved my stay. The location is excellent, with plenty of parking available. I was very warmly welcomed by the team — the staff are super friendly and attentive. The room was spotless and had all the amenities I needed. I did have a small issue with the fridge, but it was surprisingly fixed immediately — they replaced it with a brand-new one on the spot. Very efficient service. What really made my stay special was a lovely handwritten note from Chester and Alison, thanking me for spending Christmas with them and wishing me a wonderful New Year. Such a thoughtful and personal touch. I will definitely be coming back. So far, this has been the best motel I’ve stayed at in Mackay. Highly recommended! NA
