Guest Reviews
- Matthew (6/5): - Clean room
- Kerri (8/5): - Clean neat desperate need of refurbishment
- David (10/5): - Incredibly helpful staff.
Room had all the character you expect from a pub stay.
- Susan (8/5): Great for the night - For the price it was great, but it's an old pub up for sale, needs lots of work to the decor, but it was clean and comfortable and basic. The room wasn't ready at check in time, but otherwise service was fine.
- Sean (6/5): - Room was missing a window pane, bathroom tiles and mirror
- Ian (6/5): Rustic old world charm. - Fine for a solo bloke ......bathroom and toilet down the hall as you would expect in an historic rustic hotel.
- David (4/5): - Standard room:
No bedside table, only 2 PowerPoints, both beside the door. Plugging heater in therefore blocked door from opening so unsafe. No fridge. Easily hear conversation in next room and noise in hallway. 1 cheap plastic chair provided. Pub was closed before 7:30 on a Thursday night. They over charged for room but refund coming ( I hope).
- Brodie (2/5): - Would not recommend staying here worst customer service .
- Jason (2/5): - I made a booking the booking was conferenced and on my way they rang up and cancelled, complete waist of my time and money !
- David (6/5): - Cheap, comfortable
- Melanie (8/5): - Clean comgortable room . Problem with bathroom on another floor and steep stairs
- Heather (8/5): - It was great for an old pub stay. Very old building, delightful and full of character. Bathrooms could do with an update
- Derek (2/5): - Old, cold unmaintained
- Brad (8/5): - Property is very old, but was clean and comfy. Stairways are steep and narrow, so definitely NOT recommended for anyone with mobility issues.
- Wayne (8/5): - good
- Teresa (10/5): - Walls are paper thin. Make sure you confirm with property directly that you have the ensuite if that’s what you booked. Staff were awesome. Clean, comfortable, convenient to everything :) Would definitely stay here again.
- Rishad (10/5): - Friendly staff affordable great location
- Tracey (6/5): - Although my room had an ensuite and facilities to make Coffee/Tea, Toast or microwave you had to unplug the fridge to use the appliances and there were no utensils, cutlery, cups, plates etc. The stairs were dark as well as the areas outside the door/s to be used at night to enter the building.
- Deborah (8/5): Reasonable for the price - Friendly staff. Rooms are old but clean and tidy, external bathroom and toilet were always clean.
Really couldn't complain for tge price.
- Sam (8/5): - Great cheap stay
- Narelle (8/5): - Quite clean needs a little spruce up , extra pillows on the bed but overall ok for an old Hotel
- Rick (4/5): - When went to bed (late, bar/reception closed) could not use top bunk as animal(?) hair all over bed.
Cockroaches in room.
Old creaky rooms with thin mattresses.
Would not recommend or stay here again.
- Sharon (6/5): - Potentially could be charming but it just looks old, dirty & unloved. Seriously please look around you’ve got some interesting old furniture but can’t see it as it blends in with the general old man’s shack feeling. The bed & bedding I believe are the original items when pub open 100 years ago… Maybe apply for a makeover on TV show or something because it needs help…
- Beverley (6/5): - We should have checked that there were difficult stairs to manage (elderly travellers). staff was friendly and helpful.
- kim (8/5): - I grew up in the area. It's nice to visit with an "old friend". Easy on the hip pocket, friendly helpful staff and within walking distance of everything you need. Even if I don't require accommodation, a trip to "The Aussie" is a must whenever I travel to Boonah/Fassifern Valley/Scenic Rim!

- Angela (2/5): - 100 year old building, run down and no air-conditioning so we didn't stay
- Kavin (2/5): - One of the dirtiest/smelliest place I have lived in . Would have been better to stay in my car
- Michael (2/5): - Do not stay here. It’s a boarding house. Girl living there in room next to ours smoked drugs all night long. All 4 pubs shut no meals on a Sunday night. Police had high presence when we had travelled 10000s km we had not seen any. This property should not be on web site. Very disappointed in them worst one ever
- John (8/5): - There was tea and coffee provided, but no cups.
- Darren (2/5): - Didn't think there would be half drunk old men walking the corridor in a towel
- Adrienne (2/5): - Rung to say we were at a function and asked what time was latest check in
Told 8pm
Due to issues with navigation system we were 5 mins late
The door was locked and no one answered door !
Thankfully another guest arrived and let a lone travelling woman in and found a staff member who was leaving
No tea/ coffee supplied , no cups, no nothing except a good shower
Not good enough for any traveller let alone international travelers
This was booked last minute as other accomodation short in area
It was cheap to stay at $190 for 2 nights
Would the traveller stay again
Never
- Alicia (8/5): - This is a super fun place to visit on a Friday night IF you enjoy country vibes and old school pub yarns. There was a pool comp, meat tray, members draws and some dice game that can win you a free drink. Bar staff are cool, let every select songs, no footy (!) No pokies (yes!!!) And genuinely nice Aussie pub times. Room was fine for a sleep over, dont expect much, ensuite room was great, hot hot shower. Totally not accessible. Just fun and a great town to explore. Also old uncle playing the SPOONS. Its as Aussie as pubs get.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Standard pub fare - Basic pub room. Queen bed plus single. Sink. Old school wardrobe. No fan or AC. Small heater available. Single powerpoint with multiboard supplied. Shared facilities along corridor. Rear parking okay. Located centrally in a shopping precint, one-way street frontage. Close to large supermarket.
- Rennaye (2/5): - There was a mick up with booking and we had to have a room without ensuite. Not preferable but we were charged less
- Douglas (6/5): - There were some very noisy disruptive guests at 3am .
- Nichole (8/5): - Great staff, will stay again
- Lisa (6/5): - Very noisy at all times of night and the toilets were not serviced regularly. Had to physically ask for more toilet paper in the toilet.
- David (10/5): - Great service, nice people.
- Paul (6/5): - very noisy at night ,no soundproofing between rooms. regular loud noises fom coolroom or someother generator type noise. bakery next door noisy from 4am .
- Antony (8/5): - Friendly and convenient
- Jenny (2/5): - Such a shame to see an old building not be maintained… a favourite pastime of ours. The staff are obliging but must be frustrated with the conditions of the building and fittings … thin tired towels, old fashioned bedding, dirty black lace curtains, grimy spotted carpet, split Lino, peeling paint happening off painted window and generally screaming out for attention. A sad sad property. Owners need a thorough inspection and Expedia need to consider their agency.
- Darren (8/5): - A brilliant pub stay, with great staff always willing to help make your visit a pleasant one.
- David (10/5): - Great when you just need a bed for the night
- john (8/5): - It's rustic, basic and old but with alot of charm. If thats your thing you will enjoy
- Christine (6/5): - Very old and does need a little love.very noisy as you can hear everything in every room.not enogh blankets.lovely old timber floors but every step creak and thump is heard theough out building..share bathrooms..lovely hot water..cheap and a last minute booking.
- Vicki (8/5): - It's an old pub with pub style rooms and facilities. Very basic, no frill accommodation in a central convenient location. Walking distance to Blume restraunt.
- Rochelle (10/5): - What a lovely old pub with character.
We really loved our stay here.
- Christine (8/5): - Very old and interesting! Glad I only found out it was haunted until I was leaving!
- Nell (8/5): - Convenient and friendly staff.
- Manami (10/5): - The staff was really nice to us. We needed to check in before 6pm. But I forgot to let them to know that I arrive around 8pm. I arrived and called the hotel, the staff was about to finish her work and leave the hotel. But she’s nice to us and show us around the hotel. I’m really really appreciate her. She’s very nice person. Thank you so much!
- Darryl (4/5): - Neighbouring room were talking loud until 3am with different people then again from 6:30am. very thin walls
- Tania (4/5): - The staff were pleasant, the rooms OK but the noise levels of the partying downstairs Friday evening was very loud .
- katherine (2/5): - great location. but stayed in the ensuite room, was disgusting, needed a clean, ripping up of the mouldy carpet paint, pest control, renovation. would be a great property if it was maintained
- Margaret (4/5): - The beds were clean and comfortable. Dirty floor. One bathroom and one toilet for all staying there is unacceptable. Shower over a slippery bathtub, not on. Beautiful old pub, I don't think it would pass health and safety. Everywhere was missing louvers. Bad luck if there was a fire. No chance of escape if you are upstairs. Saying that it was cheap to stay, but I was relieved to leave the Australian hotel early morning. Sorry I had to say all that, but I do value my life and not a Princess. Cheers Maggie
- Anthony (4/5): - Wotif did not email me a confirmation, so I phoned to check booking. None made! Lass made booking on a yellow post-it pad. Walls of room so thin I could hear next door's phone call with Baliness lover! So many negatives, the three ghosts the only positives!!
- David (8/5): - Lots of Chracter
- Lana (10/5): - Good quiet location, great old pub style accommodation. Was passing thru for the nite but will definitely return, cheers
- Penny (6/5): - Central to town. Very friendly staff. Badly needs updating. Unsuitable for elderly or disabled.
- John (10/5): - It was close, walkable to a function. Place is very rustic and would not be for everyone But I have no complaints.
- Kerryn (8/5): - Great historic property. Limited facilities because the age and genuine unrestored character of the building. Basic, adequate and comfortable
Nice staff and food is good
- Bernard (8/5): - Very rustic good location great bed just noise from other guest travelled a long way late at night understand staff cannot control this
Over good stay
- Jo (2/5): - Our rooms were double booked staff were fairly unconcerned and left us with no where to stay. 3 days later a txt arrives to tell us that a room is available
- Jenni (10/5): - Property was perfectly fine.
- Gary (2/5): - Don't no didn't get to stay there after driving for a hr we were told we didn't have a booking and they were booked out.so wasn't happy at all
- Samantha (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly.
- Wayne (10/5): - Old school charm.
- David (4/5): - What you should expect for an ancient hotel.
- Pam (8/5): - typical old country pub accommodation
- Hayley (8/5): - Basic room but comfortable enough. Friendly staff who accommodated our early check in at late notice. Needs better curtains as was very bright in the morning, curtain only covered half the window. Also would benefit from a bigger or full length mirror. Or even the one there made lower!
- Michael (8/5): - It is an old hotel, but the staff are friendly & so are the people in the town
- REBECCA (10/5): - Lovely old style hotel with lots of character and super helpful and friendly staff.
- Carolyn (8/5): - Thanks
- Jan (10/5): - This is an iconic Aussie Pub rich in history. The hotel is 140 year old. It was clean and tidy. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Would recommend.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely old country pub with friendly locals.
- Hunter (10/5): - Good clean
- Josh (10/5): - Clean and tidy… Service is outstanding. A fair dinkum Aussie pub!
- Ashley (10/5): - Everything you would need for a pub stay. Clean, quiet, comfortable and charming. Lovely staff. Lovely old pub.
- Mal. (4/5): - Pretty rough and no meals
- Christine (10/5): - The queen bed was very comfortable
- steve (10/5): - Quite friendly staff
- andrea (2/5): - Rocked up after dark to get my long awaited bed. Very tired. Travelled all day! They’re given my room away. So lakadaisically dim witted people!!
- Kath (10/5): - Very cheap. Middle of town. Characterful old pub
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice old pub stay - Clean and comfortable stay in good location. Nice old pub.
- Desiree (10/5): - Unique building. Central. Awesome views.
- Adam (8/5): - Good accommodation. Large rooms. Comfortable beds. Clean facilities. Good for the price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Rooms were clean and tidy. Heater was available as we stayed in winter. Extra blankets, duvet etc available.
A tarp was on the veranda roof that flapped in the wind all night and kept me awake most of the night. Recommend management fix the roof of veranda so that a Tarp is not needed. Looked like Tarp had been there a while.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
It is an old hotel with a difficult stairway for old or health issue people.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - IT can do with a little bit of TLC, we had no batteries in the remote for the TV, we we're not told about the tea and coffee that was available.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Australian Hotel was a quintessentially classic country Australian Hotel … her hey was definitely a 100 years ago but we totally enjoyed the uniqueness of this amazing building . Fantastic old photos and a classic large ice chest . Not so good for wheelchairs but definitely a must to see and stay in . We didn’t get to meet any ghosts… this time.😂
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It is only 2 star so you can't expect much but it is impossible to sleep if the adjacent rooms are watching tv, or are talking as the walls are paper thin. The shared bathroom and toilet is also open to the weather and is therefore super cold in winter. The rooms were warm and the staff were really nice and helpful. I would call to confirm they have your booking as ours was showing as cancelled when we arrived.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, with friendly and helpful staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was very very run down which did make it kind of fun to stay at. The bedding was clean and the young lady who seemed to run the place was very nice and accomadating.
- Neil&Lyn (8/5): - It’s a lovely old pub, great character.
Enjoyed our stay.
- Tressa (6/5): - Very old and needs some tender loving care. I realise that it is hard to maintain a heritage listed building but it does need some maintenance
- Daniel (8/5): - The pub is an old Queenslander, full of character and tales of a ghost that lingers. The hotel was unable to find my booking initially, perhaps due to a date change I had made and oversight somewhere. Eventually a room was allocated. The room was clean and well maintained. The decking outside is a bit dated. Shared bathroom was clean.
- Lisa (6/5): - Our booking was messed up and our room with en-suite was not available which meant sharing a communal bathroom. Although the bathroom was clean it was an inconvenience.
The hotel is old and our room needed some work. Carpets were stained and furnishings old but ok for one night. Our room was next to men’s toilet so every time the toilet was used you could hear. So didn’t get a lot of sleep. Staff were friendly and allowed us to use shower after riding which was very good of them.
- Ying (6/5): country stay - It is an old pub , limited facility, but friendly
- Gavin (8/5): - Good value for money, comfortable bed, clean room and friendly staff.
- Neal (8/5): a Boonah break - The room was clean, the bed comfy, a bit disappointed we didn’t have Foxtel or Netflix. The staff were very friendly.
