Guest Reviews
- Vanessa (10/5): - Lovely
- alison (10/5): One night stay - Stayed in a premium cabin with queen & separate double bed. The cabin met our expectations & was suitable for the night. The cabin was not huge & some may feel its a bit cosy if you had more than one couple staying but it served our purpose & was comfortable. Good hot shower. Welcoming owner. We were checking in early before lunch. The owner rang his cleaner to see if the cabin was available which it was, she had just finished. Meant we could relax & settle in early before heading out for the day. Quiet location. Local pub came highly recommended by the owner & pretty much the only place to eat in at night. Good pub meal.
- James (10/5): - Very nice cabin with a queen bed and 2 bunks, space, good parking, friendly staff. A number of pub feed options about a km away. Lovely place. Will stay again if I'm ever in Norseman
- Emma (6/5): - Basic cabin in a quiet caravan park on edge of bush. The space was quite crowded with two beds and a dining table and 4 chairs. There were no comfortable seats though outside chairs were Ok. Lots of Galah around as well as ravens. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our walk up Beacon Hill with good views at top. Many of the town shops are closed though there is a small supermarket and chemist. Great visitor center. Overall we are glad we stayed for two nights but it is not for everyone.
- Julie (2/5): - Terrible cabin and park
- jennibmelbourne (8/5): a spot among the trees - I must learn not to rely on pics etc on websites anywhere as usually they are not a true depiction of the real thing. This park was no different. While i wasn't really impressed with it on arrival we enjoyed our spot for 3 nights. The park has drive thru sites as many of us are overnighters. We had just come across the Nullabor and decided on 3 nights. We loved our little spot among the trees. Shows you cant judge a book by its cover
- U2915VGmarkg (6/5): Very basic caravan park. - $47 a night for a powered site for two people. Check in is 2pm. I guess like with others you can ask for early check in.
It’s just a bit of uneven dirt.
A reflection of a place is reception and that told the story.
This place needs a good clean.
The barbecues were nothing short of filthy and not from a days use either.
Certainly the check in was friendly and efficient.
The photos on the web don’t reflect what we were presented with.
We were self contained and stayed the first night at the Show Grounds for free which was good.
We only moved as we were getting low on water. Then found for a small fee just a minute away you can top up for a small charge.
Sorry, just being honest.
- Chris0173 (8/5): Friendly & well priced. - What a refreshing change, from the manager, cleaner & groundsman; all were so friendly & accommodating. The Deluxe cabin was clean & spacious; the outdoor covered patio with table and chairs was perfect for relaxing in the afternoon. The laundry facilities were clean & all machines were operating. Park is located right behind a well priced fuel service station with hot food & coffee - all at good prices. Would highly recommend staying at the Gateway Caravan Park.
- Ethan (8/5): - Good
- Doug T (6/5): - Bed needs replacing. Definitely no good for 2 in the bed!
- Lois (8/5): - great for overnight accommodation when travelling the east to Nullabor
- Jane (10/5): - I had a very comfortable stay after a long trip across Australia. The cabin was well set up with everything you could need. The welcome at reception was great! Highly recommended!
- brigitte (10/5): - excellent facilities in kichenette / everything you need ! unit was nice and cool when we arrived with air cond on as we arrived - thank you. quiet camping area so we had a good rest. not much in norseman … great sunset at the lookout .. iga closes early if you need supplies
- M (6/5): not much to do in the area - Basic is the best description, the camp was ok and the chalet clean and tidy.
The real problem was the area, only 1 pub to eat in and 1 grocery shop to buy in, literally everything else was shut, not even able to get a coffee on a saturday morning. And there appears a regualar issue with the local ABC TV transmitter, lost all channels soon after I arrived and they never re-appeared
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Enjoyed our overnight stay here! Park was quiet and suited our needs. Attached behind the petrol station, which was fantastic, and very well priced. AVOID BP IN NORSEMAN, IT IS EXTREMELY OVERPRICED!!!! Reception was friendly, and check in was easy. Local pub was delicious. Would stay here again!
- murphypickle (8/5): Good place to stop - Stopped for a night while driving the Nullarbor. Nice welcoming site on the edge of town - the guy there was very helpful. Basic facilities but clean. Easy walk into the town where food in the local pub is available. Recommended. Unfortunately no WiFi though
- terry (8/5): - This cabin was nice and clean with sufficient facilities however there was nowhere close to park you car. You had to unload and then park in a parking lot. The ground cover created a lot reflection due to the light colour gravel used. Nice shower
- Alan (8/5): - Comfortable stay in a cabin.
- Shane (10/5): - Totally love this park, all it needs is more trees, then it will be perfect!
- Jamie (10/5): - The property manager was amazing we had a good stay here
- leoniemh (6/5): Norseman - Over priced for the quality of the facilities. Really great setting, but, needs a lot of maintenance done. Positioned well for crossing the Nullarbor. No facilities in the town. Many houses empty and run down. Went through Norseman many years ago when the town was thriving. Sad to see a lovely town dying.
- Mark (8/5): - Better than expected, quick easy checkin, clean, well stocked cabin, super soft towels, bed a little hard but manageable.
- boof1969 (8/5): A welcome rest stop - we stayed here on our way up to Exmouth with our caravan. We arrived late but the staff had left our check in details out which was great. The sites are ok, ours was abit hard to get into as it was in between 2 tress but we managed. The park isnt anything fancy but after travelling all day on the Nullabor it was a welcome stop to have a rest. The toilets are fairly old and in need a restoration. The park was very crowded when we arrived so make sure you pre book . Norseman itself is a mining town and is very interesting to explore if you have time.
- taylmw (10/5): As always, a great overnight visit and well suited to bikers - Stopped here overnight after travelling the Nullarbor. This was about the fifth time I've stayed at this caravan park. The staff were friendly as always.
The tent area has shade cloth areas to lay a tent on which aids comfort.
There's no problem with parking motorcycles next to the tent.
The camp kitchen and amenities are only a short walk away and the bbq area is directly across the driveway.
The amenities are always clean and tidy.
I've always enjoyed staying here. Highly recommended.
- Margaret (10/5): One night stop has basics covered - Good for one night after Nullarbor crossing
Is basic cabin as bigger ones were sold out. Book early is key learning. Town has a few places to visit and stretch your legs whilst learning about its history. Like efforts to add art works as well as normal info.
- Robyn (4/5): - Felt vey unsafe in shower and bathroom
- jat418 (8/5): Good stop on Nullabor - Clean and tidy park. Facilities are clean and hot water. Plenty of bins. Would stay here again.
Plenty of caravan sites powered and unpowered.
Some noise from the trains and passing trucks on highway but that is to be expected.
Fuel reasonably priced and food options at servo.
- Ben (10/5): - Good
- 221jodi (6/5): Shady, large outdated and noisey. - Large size park with plenty of shade and most sites are drive through so you can stay hooked up. Most sites are on dirt with a few slab ones. Power and water available. 2 amenities blocks that are old but clean and adequate. Small laundry. Our Telstra WiFi and Phone worked fine. Friendly staff. Downside…. $46 a night was a bit steep for an outdated park. Location… noisey as hell! If it’s not trucks it’s shunting train yards and trains coming and going and using there horns. I was awake more than asleep. If this isn’t an issue for you then nice enough park. Only choice in town. Cabins available also.
- Campbell (8/5): - Good place to sleep after a long drive
- Brian (10/5): - Perfect quiet pitstop to rest and relax while driving from Adelaide to Perth.
- Francis (10/5): Great place to stop - Super easy and convenient place to stop on the way from Perth to Sydney. Staff were great and accommodation clean. Local pub was awesome; thanks to the manager Bytas for the making us feel so welcome.
- Haroun (10/5): - Great property. Will be back
- L6225JPep (10/5): Great little Caravan Park - Great little Caravan Park nice drive-thru, very clean park, Ablutions old but very clean best shower i have had in a long time, this park has everything you need The gentleman in the office very friendly and helpful. Would recommended staying there.
- Mobile38446917868 (2/5): Avoid at all costs. - An absolute dump, basically a sand pit with no proper pads or matts for parking of campervans etc and they charged top dollar for staying there.
Really dated ablution blocks one of which did not have hot water working in the men's showers.
Save your money and go elsewhere!
- Pam (6/5): - The man serving at the reception desk was ver friendly
- Warwick (6/5): - Get what you pay for
- Peter (10/5): Love the cabin. - Enjoyed the cabin. Very roomy for two people. All required facilities in the kitchen.
- taylmw (10/5): Been here four times. Great place to stop. - I've now stayed here four times, three times camping and once in a cabin.
Each visit has been great.
Reception on arrival is always friendly and helpful, and I was even able to make arrangements for a late arrival with the front office closed.
The tent area is on soil but made a lot easier with the use of shade cloth to put the tent on, one of the few places I've stayed that do this.
The amenities block is a short walk from the tent area and clean and tidy.
I've used the laundry previously and it takes coins to operate the machines which can be bought at the office.
Camp kitchen is right across the driveway from the tent area. Watch the local Ravens, they stole my breakfast!
I have always enjoyed stopping here. Highly recommended.
- judybO7280AM (4/5): Bad experience - Not good enough, we arrived after driving for 5 hours I had to wait around the office, finally went outside and thought I'll try one more time finally they came out. Amenities block was dirty, needs up dating or at least painting. Camp kitchen was basically non existent. No oven, only 2 rusty hotplates small bar fridge and sink wasn't game to look in laundry so I can't comment on that . We are not fussy people but for.the money not good enough.
- roxane69 (8/5): Well equipped cabin, friendly park. - Very friendly reception, made me smile after long drive, price of cabin was reasonable, park area looked clean and kept, Cabin was spacious, comfortable, lots of places for belongings, self contained with most everything would need, older cabin but compared to other places we have stayed pretty good, caravan park quiet, easy access.
- Judith (8/5): - It was a bit rough but the bed was excellent
- Ashwin (10/5): - Nice compact with all facilities built into the cabins which could sleep four easily and had additional bedding.
- Frougster (4/5): Keep driving if you can - If you don’t have your own caravan or motor home, and you have the energy and daylight, then keep driving. In my opinion the cabins here are dated and fell short of expectations, including the supplied linen. On the positive side, the manager was friendly and accommodated a refund when I highlighted the accommodation on offer was below a reasonable standard.
- lyng288 (8/5): Big 4 park. - This is a Big 4 caravan park. Sites are good size and easy to park. Facilities available. Showers hot. Dog friendly. It was easy to book in and the staff were helpful during our stay. All sites are dirt. There were quite a few people here the night we stayed.
- Col677 (8/5): Nice and clean - Cabin nice and clean stayed there going over the Nullarbor and on the return. Norseman a real dead place the only place to eat was the pub which you had to weight up to an hour to get any food and then it was average
- Zhiying (10/5): - Every nice! It has a double bed and a buck bed. Good for families. Kitchen has a kettle and plates etc. It's so nice that I wish I could stay longer. Just need to close all the windows when sleeping. It was 3 degree that night. Freezing.
- Linda (6/5): - Accomodation old but functional
- Stephanie (8/5): - Clean and cosy
- Myloh (6/5): - Feels like you are staying right on the edge of the Aussie outback bushlands. Really warm reception. The lighting at night attracts bugs so it could be hard to enter when late without some coming in with you. Otherwise a quiet, restful experience.
- stewart (2/5): - I didn’t stay the night.Wotif was going to cancel it for me but apparently they didn’t after phone calls where we agreed that they would cancel but I had to chase up later another booking.not Happy with outcome.
- Joelleen (6/5): - Nice enough location for a night. Would not stay long term. Not much to do in the immediate area.
- Mon55 (6/5): A very small cabin, but ok for one night. - Must say this was the smallest cabin we have ever stayed in. However it was clean and had most things we needed in the kitchen. The bed was comfortable with only access on one side as other side was against the wall. We were only here for one night. I probably would not stay here again if in the area, but there wasn’t much available when we came through. Staff very friendly and park was clean.
- taylmw (8/5): Very good overnight stay - Check-in was quick and friendly.
Cabin had all we needed for the night and was pretty clean. Aircon was running on arrival which was a nice touch especially on a 42 degree day. The poor little air conditioner struggled in the heat. A little understandable under the circumstances.
All cutlery and crockery was clean.
We used the laundry during the visit. Change was readily available at the kiosk and all but one of the machines was serviceable. Ants were a bit of a problem near the dryers.
People we met around the park were friendly. The park is located a short drive down the road from the CBD.
This was a nice stay after the last few days on the Nullarbor. Highly recommended.
- Joelleen (8/5): - A little small-spaced but met all my needs. Worth the price that I paid for it.
The stove is a two-burner broiler system. Slow to boil water, but does do it eventually.
Water pressure in shower = AMAZING! Unfortunately, shower a little small to fully enjoy.
- Will (10/5): - Easy check in nice comfy rooms
- michellea2374 (2/5): OVERPRICED - OVERPRICED. Was quoted $84 a night for 2 adults and 2 children, that's $20 per night per child. In comparison a 5 star caravan park in Qld charges the same amount of money and has 2 very large pools, a large waterpark, 2 very large play grounds, free pancake breakfast, 2 jumping pillows, large family bathrooms etc etc etc. OVERPRICED
- Marthinus (8/5): - This was the perfect stopover at the end of the Nullarbor. The cabin was pre cooled with the aircon being switched on before our arrival, and that cool air was just great. The Manager was really friendly and helpfull. its a beautifull quiet spot to rest after a long journey.
- Linda (6/5): - Outside light didn’t work - not great for arriving at night. Selections n of food options at petrol station.
No PowerPoint plugs next to bed head.
- Maureen (8/5): - TV would not work properly
- Maureen (10/5): - Quiet , nice area
- Peter (8/5): - Bathroom was a bit ordinary. The towels just didn’t dry you.
- Jill (2/5): - The air conditioner didn’t work properly. Blew out cold air even on heat. Toilet/bathroom was so tiny, and the light didn’t turn on for about 5 minutes. Not worth the money
- Manjot (4/5): - Dog hair everywhere in room, bed, blanket
- GABRIELLE (8/5): Good one nighter - I stayed in a cabin and it was very comfortable. All the facilities were good and the cabin was clean. When I was there it was nice and quiet.
- darren (10/5): - all good
- Norbert (10/5): - Great little cabin as expected at a reasonable price.
All self contained with bathroom and great hot water
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Comfortable cabin with everything we needed
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Basic accomodation but suited our one night stay
- Mick (6/5): Night at Norseman - Within the limited accommodation options for travellers through Norseman, this property is not at the top. Overdue for a refit/rebirth.
- Chris (8/5): - Good size cabin, friendly staff.
It was really hot and the Air con couldn't get the temp down, couldn't watch the TV from your bed as it was in another room. No pool.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Adequate to our needs, quiet and suitable.
Appreciated air conditioner on at arrival.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was lovely and quiet. A nice and quaint bush atmosphere.
- yi (4/5): - Very noisy air-con, not clean environment
- Michelle (10/5): Great stay would recommend - Cabin was very clean, comfy, all equipment needed, staff great and helpful. Park overall very clean
- Catherine (8/5): Clean and comfortable cabin - Check in was easy, very friendly and helpful manager. Our cabin backed onto bush land which made it more private. The park had a nice atmosphere, very quiet.
- Veronica (10/5): VEE AND RAYS ROAD TRIP FOR SENIORS - Very helpful will return in May
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay clean the cabin was well set out I was close to the main road but didn’t hear the noise
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean bathroom and main cabin. Linen and towels, crisp and fresh. Air conditioner was quiet and super effective for an old unit. Only hiccup, curtain rod on the window at the head of the bed would fall as you drew the curtain closed, or open.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - enjoyed stay in our cabin. can't see why survey insists on 50 characters minimum
- Richard (6/5): - On arrival the fridge seal was broken and water over the floor. Reception quickly got the maintenance man to change the fridge for a working model.
Apart from that, the Park was OK for our two day stay. Nothing fancy, but hey, this is Norseman.
Cooking facilities in the small kitchen were OK and the bed was comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed in a "comfort cabin" which was very well appointed with a comfortable bed and everything we needed for an overnight self-catered stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cabin was very dated but comfortable enough.
Staff were friendly. Nice and quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked the set out of the unit.
Aircon and beds were good.
Decent restaurant.
- JULIA (10/5): Good place to stay - Travelling across the Nullabor and stopped here for a night. Good facilities, nice laundry area, local town for stocking up on provisions. Good food in restaurant next door. Petrol prices were good as well. Reception staff very helpful.
- Maureen (10/5): - Good size clean room had everything that I wanted.
- Scotty (10/5): - Great location, clean and also very comfy beds. Slept like a log too !
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very clean site and within bathroom and cooking - Good caravan out the back and very friendly services
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet place for a stop over. - Overnight stop on the way through.
- Rob (8/5): Well maintained and friendly - Stayed in double bed & two single bunks transportable within easy walk of good restaurant. There is a great cafe in the Main Street serving Australian and Thai food
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cabin was clean & comfortable, TV reception was bad.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A little disappointed about the layout. After a long day on the road one of the things we look forward to is relaxing on a sofa or comfortable chair to watch a little TV or read. This is not possible with these cabins.
Also it was disappointing to find cleaning items were minimal. The owners expect that dishes are all cleaned ready for the next guests as I’m sure they don’t check this aspect when cleaning the cabins.
This task is made more difficult with the tiny “piece” of chux and even smaller piece of a scrubber to wash all dishes used.
- Seven Hills (8/5): - Self contained Cabin was good for a quick overnight stay. Facilities were good for preparing your own meals and it comfortably sleeps a family of 4.
- sas (8/5): A great place to stay after crossing Nullarbor - Quick check in. Clean and friendly staff. Walk to shops
- Mark (8/5): Slept well! - Generally fine for a one night stopover. Basic caravan park unit. Park had the basics but was pretty pricey even with Hotels.com discount. Staying in 4 🌟 tonight for less. Being Norseman, not a lot of choices. Staff were friendly. Bed was comfy! TV reception was lousy but also limited by isolation. Cooking facilities were fine which was good as again, a small town with not many options.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very basic accomodation, noisy air conditioner, no fan.
- Marion (8/5): - Cabin was clean and tidy. Did think it was a bit expensive and would have liked to have a TV in the bedroom to relax .
Shower was great and relaxing
- Verified traveler (6/5): Friendly helpful staff. - We had been on the road for twelve hours, and when we arrived we found that we had our days mixed up and actually had no booking for that night. The manager was fantastic... Extremely helpful and understanding. He found us a similar cabin to what we had needed. Thumbs up to friendly and accommodating country hospitality!
- Richard (6/5): - Shower was terrible could not adjust it. BED not comfortable. Carpets filthy. Would not book into this place again.
- Lisa (8/5): Home away from home - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Air con was lovely and cool. Friendly staff.
Very comfy bed.
