Guest Reviews
- Sabine (5/5): - Lovely garden and easy to get to
The people were very nice Extremely outdated. The breakfast was a bit of joke; whilst there was Variety, everything was counted up. The ham was 1 slice per person cut into 4 little bits and it wasn’t even good ham, was the cheap stuff out of a supermarket packet.
- John (8/5): -
- Peter (6/5): - The location was great and the hosts very friendly .... but needs a good clean and dusting
- Edgecombe (5/5): - Yes it was a old world experience, however it was tired and the bedroom was very dusty and the mattress must have been filled with straw from the period. Not like the pics advertised
- Alexandra (6/5): Clean and adequate - Heritage appeal Needed modernizing
- Evan (10/5): A slice of history to stay in. - It’s history, the wonderful breakfast and the room Nothing
- Robinson (10/5): Would highly recommend to any one wanting to stay in Strahan - Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The "meet and greet" and talk by our host was really informative and enjoyable.
Rooms were all different and nicely presented with furniture suiting the style of Ormiston House.
- 67 Splity (9/5): - The hosts were just lovely people, we felt at home from the moment we walked through the door. The house was amazing it was like walking back in time. NOTHING
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Danny (10/5): Ormiston House + Strahan = great holiday😀 - The house is magnificent and the service even better! Thankyou, Terry, for being such a great host. Thankyou also to your wife for her lovely meals and obvious hard work in behind the scenes. Strahan is a wilderness gem and must/stay on the west coast!
- Timothy (8/5): Very beautiful grand old house, central including a substantial breakfast - Excellent location. A period style stay. Charming. Owners/staff very accommodating. Lack of PowerPoints where you want them, (possibly due to the age of the place). Also we were in the Christina room - separate toilet but the bathroom itself was half screened in the room. There was a spa you climbed into for a shower. Possibly not good for those unsteady on their feet.
- Patricia (8/5): - The charm, decor, breakfast was delicious. Location and outlook. The bed was a bit short for my tall husband.
- Kathryn (10/5): Just loved stepping back in time in this stately home - Very comfortable we were given a history of the house while having drinks great way to get to know the hosts N/A

They not only make you feel welcome but are super helpful with providing details of local attractions and dinning. Highly recommend. Everything was perfect
- Gregory (10/5): Our stay was an amazing experience! - Everything, it was built in the 1890’s and has been well kept. It was like walking back in time only with modern amenities and a wonderful breakfast 😃 Nothing

- Paul (9/5): Stay at Ormiston House when in Strahan, its perfect - A lot of history attached to this quirky but very interesting property and well described by the story telling of Terry the owner. Lovely room, lovely owner's Terry & Rose. Simple but adequate breakfast, just a genuine nice place to stay. nothing it was delightful.

- Hanni (8/5): We (2 couples) enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend this hotel. - The hotel was in a beautiful historic building, full of charm. All the rooms were furnished in matching styles and colours. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Our friends were in the Queen Christina room and did not like the fact that the shower was in the jacuzzi.

- TREVOR ROSS (7/5): Nice place - depending on what else was available might stay there again - It was a lovely old house well kept with well looked after garden - nice rooms
Parking for cars was good also. The staff were not very flexible - b/fast was set at 0730-0900 - we wanted to get early to the cruise but could not because of this - all other accommodation b/fast starts at 0600 or 0630 - also staff made our bed & , cleaned the room only once in a 3 night stay - they changed the towels on request.
- Roger (9/5): -
- Helen (9/5): -
- Sue (9/5): Feel the history of Strahan at Ormiston House - Beautiful historic house in Strahan that has many stories to tell. - Mary (9/5): Comfortable stay - Location and building
- Henry Hunter (10/5): Wonderful old fashioned home from home - The wonderful old fashioned architecture and attention to detail especially the Axminster carpet surrounds. The Blackwood bar and the meet and greet from the owner. The breakfast was excellent and reminded me of an old English B & B. Garden was a bit tired

- David (9/5): -
- melissa (8/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): We loved our two night stay at Ormiston House. - Ormiston House is a lovely comfortable place to stay. We loved the historical feel of the home, the antique furniture, and the beautiful garden views.
- Lyle Stanley (9/5): Excellent would go back no problem - Old style luxury Nothing worth mentioning
- Sailesh (10/5): Nice clean place, good location, good breakfast - Nice Boutique hotel All good

- Stefan (10/5): - Stunning manor and beautifully decorated rooms. You just feel transported back 200 years ago and part of local history. The owners are lovely and knowledgeable, and the "a la carte" breakfast is excellent.
- Sharan (5/5): -
- Grant (7/5): - The property in a quiet location opposite waterfront The property had no atmosphere had a bar and lounge area that was in darkness very disappointing
- amy (8/5): Comfortable and pleasant - Breakfast was excellent and the happy hour with the history of the house and community were lovely. We enjoyed the hosts and the compelling house. Very quiet Rooms were cool due to Spring outside temperatures but the heating blankets and hot showers made sleeping comfortable.
- Orpin (8/5): One for the traveller who is 'into' grand old houses - Lovely grand old house. Decent size rooms. Superb breakfast. Friendly hosts. Well situated with good views and only a short scenic walk to main activities. While the room was stylish and generous in keeping with a house of this quality and vintage and well maintained, it could have been better adapted to the conveniences and comforts a traveller appreciates. Very small TV poorly positioned for comfortable viewing either in bed or from rather formal chairs. Spa/over-bath shower in the corner of the room with the only privacy a light portable three panel screen. Bed position against the bay window made pulling the (elaborate and very stylish curtains) at night, difficult. A lot of loose power cords.
- Robert (8/5): -
- Frank (9/5): Oldy-worldly charm with modern conveniences. Very comfortable stay. - Charming heritage building and gardens. Easy stroll to town. Nil
- John (10/5): -
- Ewan (8/5): -
- Richard (5/5): Disappointed as the house looked charming from the outside - The room was clean and tidy but the place is getting a little tired.
As the place is on the market perhaps new owners will modernise. They suggested a nice restaurant. The loo floor was freezing, it lacked privacy. The breakfast was very average, everything was dark and gloomy. No tea or coffee offered in the bedroom. Very basic.
- Railton (10/5): Brilliant historical property in a beautiful location. - This is an exceptionally place to stay. The history behind is quite fascinating and the owners obviously take a lot of pride in trying to give very good service. I particularly liked the fact that our bed had an electric blanket on it. It made our stay so cosy and comfortable. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a different experience from your standard hotel.
- Ashton (9/5): - Wonderful history of both the house and local area. Nothing
- Mark (9/5): Lovely stay in beautiful old mansion - Lovely location opposite the water. Complimentary glass of wine or beer with nuts & pretzels in the bar room in the afternoon where you can sit and listen to the amazing history of this beautiful old mansion. Really good made to order brekky in ornate dining room. Nothing
- Gregory (9/5): -
- Deborah (10/5): - Beautiful old historic house, walking distance to local attractions. Comfy bed and plentiful breakfast.
- Leisa (10/5): A magnificent home full of all the comforts and the location was perfect - The location was perfect for a nice stroll into town and to the Gordon river cruise.
The breakfast was a continental breakfast which was lovely and had great selection. The bathroom was high and I loved the bath - great for a soak and the end of the day!!!!
- Broderick (2/5): Should not be presented on Booking.com Ormiston House devalues the credibility of booking.com - The property is in very poor condition 2 star not 4 star as shown Poor service, dirty room and general hotel, condition very poor. Quality grossly misrepresented. Staff rude, check-in terrible
- Thorsten (9/5): Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt - Individuelles Frühstücken, viel Information über das alte Haus
