We were given a free upgrade as there was rooms available and they thought having a kitchen would be easier with an infant-I was very thankful of this. Overall the room was very spacious,clean & tidy. The rooms are slightly aged but have everything you need. We went for a walk around the grounds & sat outside in the afternoon, it was very peaceful. We would stay here again.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Very nice tranquil farm - Stayed in cottage No2. Was booked as a spa cottage, but had no spa. The interior outfit is outdated, but comfortable enough. Kitchen had everything for being able to cook a meal. Bathroom was adequate yet outdated. Good air conditioner, which we used on a 37 degrees day. Outside setting table and chair, plus communal bbq place. Table and chairs were not very clean. Had to clean ourself to be able to sit on. Dust inside the house and old hair in the shower accumulated under the shower curtain. Surroundings are very beautiful. Great views over the field. Lots of different birds, black cockatoos, blue wren, honey eater just to name a few. Super quiet at night. Very restful sleep. A good place to escape the crowds.

It has a beautiful backyard with nearby lake, lots of beautiful birds. Would recommend anyone who trying to stay away from bigger hotels and the noisy city.

My room was clean and a comfy bed but very dated. really only had a small settee which needed new cushions on it big enough for one but sleeping facilities for 3! Magazines were old 2004 and stained. Shower was hopeless and had sprung a leak in the shower head. Bonus was waking up to kangaroos in the field outside my room.

Room was really pleasant, and the spa bath was a luxury and much appreciated to unwind. The view war lovely looking over a field and trees, and the appearance of cows was very soothing. Thought they might wake me up mooing, but that wasn't the case at all. Good value for money.

The cottage we booked was older than expected and needed a little updating along with a good clean of the tiles, curtains, etc. the smoke alarm was hanging down with no battery in it which was a little concerning. But otherwise it was a handy location to town, drive thru coffee at the end of the street and a peaceful location for a mini break.

The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable with lovely view through patio door. Nice to be close to the town but feel like you are out in the country. The kitchen was well stocked with all appliances and bed was super comfy. Excellent value.

• Travel Agent (6/5): Pleasant comfortable room well appointed bathroom - I thought we overpaid for what we got. Did the rates go up for the Leeuwin Concert weekend? Just a room with ensuite and sliding doors to outside area. Tea/Coffee facilities and small fridge. Smokers were in room up from us and cigarette smoked wafted into our room, first thing in the morning was big bit off! It also meant that we couldn't enjoy opening our doors if the 'smokers' were outside. Possum in the roof wake up at 6am on Sunday was a bit rough. Grounds relatively neat, garden ok, doors to a dining and lounge open but as there was no compendium didn't know if it was available for use no one around to ask. Close enough to Margaret River but you need a transport to stay here. We have stayed closer to the town in better and cheaper. Hesitate about recommending because of pricing and what you get. .

• Aunty Dee (8/5): Peaceful Stay - Pulling into the lodge I must be honest I wondered what I had done booking this place, it was further out from the actual town of M.R. then I thought, when we drove up the cottages and gardens looked a little bit rustic to me. HOWEVER, after meeting and talking to John the owner and then being taken to our room I was pleasantly surprised. The room was lovely just had the basics in it beautiful wooden table, gorgeous wooden wardrobe and wooden bed tables. Waking up to have your breakfast watching the Kangaroos and foxes and birds outside your door priceless. The trips we did were not that far from our lodge and John was able to recommend places to visit and we loved them all. It did remind me of the country cottages in New Zealand so that was a big plus. It is definetly not for everyone but it is definetly what we enjoyed. It is not a B & B but still a great and lovely place to stay. Loved loved loved our stay.

• Andrew (8/5): Quality and value for money - The rooms are spacious and comfortable with separate kitchenette with most facilities that you require, big bathroom, is spa shower, an in bathroom toilet plus a separate toilet external to the bathroom. Marri Lodge is not a B&B in the true sense as no breakfast is available but each room as a good kitchenette with decent sized small fridge and the centre of Margaret River is only a few minutes drive away with three supermarkets and more than enough eateries and coffee shops. The lodge is situated in a beautiful tranquil rural setting on spacious grounds. All rooms have out door sitting areas and great views of the bush, agricultural land and wildlife.

• Andrew (6/5): Quaint in bush surroundings. - Quaint in bush surroundings. Reasonably handy to everything. When the place is full up, parking near your room is somewhat problematic. The parking area is too small and it doesn't help when the owners park one of their cars in the same area. Or, when a guest parks their vehicle sideways without thinking. Internet access is available providing you are within 10 metres of the aerial. Pretty much useless otherwise.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Out of Touch - Overpriced despite being high season and quite frankly needs to spend some money to upgrade the décor and room facilities rather than just counting the cash. The room was furnished in basic original 1950's décor and not even enough teabags and milk for two nights.

Views out of the windows to the country side and bird life were relaxing and you could have been miles from anywhere. Although a little dated the room was very clean and comfortable with an adequate kitchenette for basic cooking. Friendly helpful owners who were keen to please. Easy to get into Margaret river and out to the other attractions without having to go through Margs made travel easy.

What really made it for me was the surroundings -- close to nature. The fireplace made it really cosy and it's a short drive into the centre of Margaret River. The proprietor was really welcoming and genuine. He gave us fabulous recommendations for our time in the area and really wanted to optimise our stay in WA.

I rented a cottage which was nice in winter since there was also a fireplace we can use - and I did use it a lot. Very relaxing. The interior is dated, which is the only negative I can think of. It's not a deal breaker. For me it was all about the location John was friendly and helpful.

The rooms are clean, old and outdated but it did the job for one night. The property is beautiful. Very farm stay like, surrounded by bushland. Jon, the owner was very friendly and helpful.

• wine tour fans (10/5): Weekend of wine tasting - My partner and I very much enjoyed our stay at the lodge! Our room overlooked a field with Kangaroos in the morning and at dusk. The room was very clean and comfy. There are personal touches I liked such as the instant coffee is in a jar and not sachets so you can have a strong coffee without using 2 sachets. Our hosts were very friendly and I loved the peace and quiet. It is a 4 minute drive into town but wine tours will pick you up from the lodge so no concerns of drink driving. You can't get wifi in the rooms but there is a strong signal just outside the lodge. Would definitely recommend it.
• Jerry (8/5): Nice place in rural setting - Spacious room, very clean, some antique furniture. Drawback -- no comfortable lounging chair in room. Nice grounds. Friendly owners. Close to town. Watch out for misguided GPS. Make sure you have your directions straight before leaving Margaret River.
• andrea (8/5): quaint and cosy - Nice place, friendly people. However, being a young couple we would have loved WiFi :D But for the price it was well worth it and John the owner is a very nice man. We only managed to get in at 10 at night and he stayed up waiting for us, which was very nice of him. Overall a very pleasant stay

The hosts are a lovely couple and go out of their way to help with any requests. Would recommend this as a place to stay for anyone looking for a restful and enjoyable stay.
