Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No view trouble with shower door. Not what we expected. Never recommend to anyone
- Steve (4/5): - Was an interesting experience. When booking it said this place had a great rating but when we arrived and researched more about the place, it seemed like pasts guests had similar experiences. When we arrived there was no reception, we didn't really know where to enter into and whether or not we were at the right place. We finally found someone and got put into a room without much conversation such as to where things were in relation to the hotel. After we went into our room there seemed to be no staff in sight. There wasn't a great deal of facilities in the room (fridge, microwave), there didn't seem to be a great deal of privacy with other guests for example, shared balconies that could look into other rooms and the walls were extremely thin. The place didn't seem take advantage of the beautiful function room that was advertised as an opportunity to get breakfast. I think that with a bit of a clean up, this could be an amazing place. However, the view was incredible. They had a beautiful church out the front. Quite a hassle to get to initially but surprisingly central to everything and close to where we needed to go. Good last minute booking for only one night.
- Kerry (6/5): Accommodation - The gentleman that served us couldn't speak English and had to break the door into the office to get our key even though he had a set of keys with him.
The people staying into the cabin next to us where told a key would be left out only to come home at 1.30am and couldn't get into his room. My husband had to take out the fly screen so him & his wife could get into the room
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We arrived early has I had rung the day before because we had a wedding no one there I rang to organise our room from the wedding and when we got back to accommodation it was all locked up nothing from the owners it was really bad communication
- Hayley (6/5): Cute clean room but lacked facilities - Overall a cute old place, but overpriced for what you get. The accommodation is nice enough, but I feel that it was misleading. We stayed in the spa room. There is no heating (except heat lights in the bathroom) and only a fan in the main room so I imagine you could be very uncomfortable in summer. The staff did bring us 2 doonas to use which was nice.
There is no refrigerator or microwave-which it never claimed to have; but that is not always listed.
The website says the restaurant serves breakfast and lunch Saturday and Sunday. There is even a menu on the website. But apparently they do not do breakfast anymore (I don’t know if they even do lunch) so they really need to update the website!!
The bed was comfortable, the room was cute and clean, the spa worked. The staff were nice, just not easily found and there are very limited check in hours. I think we may have been the only guests so we had a lovely quiet rest!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - very disappointing .milk out of date .no blankets so I was cold .kitchen was closed they didn't tell us .The place falling down .Paided to much for what we got .
- luella (6/5): - If you want to get away from the hussle and bustle of city life
The accomodation is quaint and sweet and just perfect for a relaxing weekend .There is not much to do at night on the premises as it is a distance from the shops
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very ordinary - Nice location, with magic view from the cafe. Accommodation is a donga/portable dwelling. Very small, not suitable for chubby people as the ensuite is also very small. O.k. if you need to sleep only, The bed was very hard and the slat had come off, so we had to lift the mattress and fix. We got a cheaper rater through hotels.com however, I pity the people that pay the full rate of $150 p.n!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not a good hotel. Hotel is not close to public transport or shopping center. No reception service.
- Leanne (8/5): Good Food/Adequate Room - Room was adequate, although it smelt damp/mouldy. Wind was blowing branches onto the roof/walls and was noisy. Food at restaurant was great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic, Spartan, Unsure where the staff are - On this occasion, the hotel was not exactly how I expected from the brochure. I was concerned to arrive outside the advertised check-in times, but found the main reception was still staffed. The 'rooms' are basically sheds, albeit equipped with everything you need for a stay - fridge, air conditioning, comfortable bed and bathroom - however, the advertised wifi did not work and was never repaired and guests were reduced to sitting outside the main lodge if they wished to communicate with the outside world.
Despite being a 15 minute drive from civilisation, the area goes very cold at night - and I got a lizard in my room which proved impossible to remove. On the first night, I managed to get a drink, but on the other two, there were no staff to be seen and the main lodge was kept locked. Overall, I was happy to pay extra as the advert made the place appear luxurious, and it looked nicer than the Gold Coast - but ultimately, would not recommend. Staff (those who could speak English) were friendly when you could find them, but this was not often. This place is essentially self-catering.
- Thomas (10/5): Beautiful room in a tranquil setting. - Our well appointed room looked over the Gold Coast from the height of the hinterland. Surrounded by gorgeous natural growth forest made for a fantastic location.
- Lin (6/5): no air con only a fan, no wi fi as stated. - great area of natural beauty. Stayed one night. comfortable but basic. Expected air con and wifi but did no have
- Michelle (8/5): Sweet little Cottage - Nice and quiet. Close to Gallery Walk. Clean and tidy room.
- Hayley (8/5): - Beautiful room in heart of Mt Tambourine. Close to all the beautiful walks and wineries. Only thing we missed was a kitchen - this was more bed and breakfast accommodation but we weren't offered a breakfast option. It didn't ruin our experience though it was a lovely stay
- Ian (10/5): Very nice stay - Our stay at Hilltop was great. The room was nice and clean and the hotel cafe was really good with brilliant views. The hotel is about 5 minutes out of central Tamborine but I liked that aspect because it felt like a quiet retreat.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Inside room queen bee was super uncomfortable, squeaky springs and we kept rolling in to the middle. We both woke with bad backs. The staff are lovely and the breakfast was fantastic. Such a shame about the bed!
- Verified traveler (6/5): DONGA ALERT!!! - It is not good when you think that you booking a somewhat luxuries Cabin and you turn up to find that it is only a standard DONGA!!!
- craig (10/5): Great views, great food, great service at HillTop. - Superb. Great views, great food, great service, comfy room/bed, nice balcony. Highly recommend for a great time away in the mountains.
- Peter (10/5): Nice getaway! - A great b'n'b style getaway for couples who are looking for some quiet time away from the buzz of daily life.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Amazing covers and comfortable stay - Amazing views and an excellent host. Room was a bit noisey though.
- Anthony (10/5): Peaceful - Very nice facilities. Great location. Very kind owners who really want to take good care of their guests.
- Why not... (8/5): Hilltop hide away - The owners were fantastic. Went over and above.
The room was small and a flash 'donger' by all accounts. It was neat, tidy and clean however.
Breakfast was great, good quality produce snd well cooked. This was at an additional cost as others have noted, but was great vslue still.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location very quiet friendly staff good food at the restaurant.
- Jess (8/5): - A lovely stay. The owners are very personable and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and the views and beeeze from the cafe dining view were beautiful. The room is smaller than I expected but it is comfortable and perfect for a night away.
- Charlie (10/5): Lovely owners, food & value for money accommodation - The Finnish owners are delightful and extremely helpful with local activities and entertainment, the breakfast is delicious and the rooms are great value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful view and great food - Thank you for your hospitality. We were warmly welcomed and the service and food was excellent.
- Bruce (8/5): Pleasant accommodation for a short stay
- Made a very good choice when looking for a last minute, one night stay, on Mt Tambourine. We had a one bedroom cabin which had an extremely comfortable bed, small fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and a good, quiet air con to warm the room. Small but adequate en-suite with VG shower.
Had a very nice dinner and breakfast in the restaurant which has great views to the coast. Both meals charged separately.
Hosts Evaa and her husband are very pleasant.
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic food - We stayed 1 night. Had afternoon tea. Which was lovely and had breakfast which was also lovely overall. The food was Devine. Great flavours
- Trish (6/5): Lovely hosts, modest but clean accommodation - We were greeted upon checkin by a lovely couple who were gracious, friendly and lovely! Our lodging for the night was very basic, and a little small, but adequate with a comfy bed-which is all we were wanting giving the rate we were charged for the night. Breakfast was amazing-to be recommended. The views from the eating area were very lovely indeed, to surfers paradise's silhouettes of high rises.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Gorgeous place. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Romantic Escape - Can not fault the dedication of Topani and Ava. Nothing was too much too much trouble. So much attention to detail - from the presentation of the linen in our room to the light show in the chapel. We can not praise you enough. Breakfast was superb with an accurate meal portion size. We highly recommend Hilltop on Tamborine to anyone staying on the mountain. You will certainly be made feel very welcome. The ONLY thing we found was this venue is advertised as a bed and breakfast when in fact it is a bed PLUS breakfast. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Hilltop on Tamborine and were made feel MORE than welcome.
- S & L (6/5): A mixed bag and not technically a B & B - We booked this place because it was close to Outback Spectacular and much advertising says it is a B & B, meaning the tariff includes breakfast. Which it does not and therefore makes the accommodation very expensive for a not very private bedroom in a house right beside the dining and sitting room. Our bed was terrible and we didn't sleep well for the 2 nights we were there. There was no fridge in the room, no airconditioning and the weather was hot, the ceiling fan had lots of noises going on and the TV was very small. It is also very difficult to enter and exit the location.
The views were as spectacular as advertised and the dining/sitting room beautifully decorated. The hosts were welcoming and friendly and I can see try to do everything themselves. The breakfast was fantastic, the dinner very nice and it was lovely to see they only served local wines. The art gallery wonderful and the entire package has great potential.
- Verified traveler (6/5): nice hotel. - nice accommodation however staff service is poor and rude.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Simple. Cafe has lovely view - Simple accommodation for the standard room. Staff very accommodating
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant B and B in the hills - The owners could not have been nicer and more helpful.Very informative of the area.Room was a bit on the small side for the money paid but everything was clean.
- Guy (10/5): A place To which We Must Return - Hilltop is perfectly placed to explore the area with fantastic walks nearby and a hoard of cafes offering every conceivable fare. George's Restaurent on Gallery Walk offers an exquisite menu with outstanding service. The husband and wife couple who run Hilltop are charming and work hard to ensure all guests have exactly what they want. Their breakfasts are devine with healthy ingredients.
- Emily (4/5): Basic - Great photos on the website.. Unfortunately not so great in reality. No obvious check in point on arrival.. & immediately disappointed to see the cafe floor strewn with children's toys (Wotif advertised as 'adults only' )- & I specifically chose this b&b as it was school holidays etc. Our room was next door to this family. They made copious amounts of noise & they're children jumped around (from furniture on to wooden floors) until late evening. Mediocre over priced food in cafe.. & we spent $60 on breakfast & coffee! 2 teabags & 2 little pots of milk in our room & a TV the size iPad mini. Would not recommend.
- Desleigh (10/5): Fantastic service to match the fantastic views. - From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warmth that immediately made you feel really welcome. We arrive to find we had been upgraded and the room we were upgraded to was beautiful, clean comfortable with a balcony to enjoy the views of the surrounding bush and coast in the distance. Eeva and her husband went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed and the food they provided was excellent. Not a big menu because of the size of the establishment, but what was there was quality and beautifully presented. Best weekend away we have had. Our first B&B experience and we will be back again and again.
- iain (2/5): Overpriced, - The room was very small, there were no blankets available and the bed was hard. For $158 and an extra $40 for breakfast, one would have expected a much better room. We stayed three nights and the room was not serviced in that time. The bathroom was small.
